Tilea’s Worries

With the progression of his Chuuni Disease, Shioda Tetsuya is shunned by his family, and dies in despair, a thirty three year old jobless virg*n. He vowed that if he was born again, this time he would stay away from delusions and live life seriously. Fortunately, he reincarnated in another world as a girl named Tilea, and lived a happy life with her kind parents and adorable little sister, but…

Lately, she’d been troubled. Her beloved sister had begun talking about how she was actually one of the Six Demon Generals, serving directly under Demon King Zorg, a descendant of the Three Great Demons. The situation was looking bad. She had to do something before this Chuuni Disease got any worse!

This is a fantasy “misunderstanding story” about a protagonist who has not noticed in the slightest that she’s a “cheat”-like existence, and how in her efforts to heal her sister’s Chuuni Disease (except that she really is one of the Six Demon Generals), she somehow or other ended up setting out to defeat the Demon King.

This is a good, if tiresome, misunderstanding comedy.

It's good, because it is mostly funny. The misunderstandings and the MCs antics are usually hilarious, especially when viewed through the eyes of secondary characters, such as Timu or Nielsen. In fact, I could only honestly recommend the parts of the story that are not told for Tilia's POV.

And with that said, we come to the "tiresome" part. As much as the misunderstandings are hilarious, they are suffering from a serious problems: Tilea is ret*rded. I don't mean that as a... more>> derogative, she is literally, near-brain-dead levels of ret*rded. Now don't take me wrong, a comedic story of this kind requires the protagonist to be a bit of an idiot for the misunderstandings to begin, but they are usually an endearing kind of idiot, like Kitano from Angel Densetsu, who is so good-natured that he cannot even wrap his head around other people challenging him to a fight, so he tries to rationalize their taunts resulting in wacky hi-jinks.

Tilea is different. She is a reincarnated chuuny NEET who is convinced that her little sister's sudden declaration of being a demon general is just her being chuuny too. That is a funny premise. Tilea turning out to be super-powerful without her being aware of it is also funny. And then it all goes downhill from there as the conflicts keep escalating along with Tilea's rationalizations to a point where event a five year old child would figure out something was up... and then it gets even more outrageous than that, and yet she is still in the dark. In short, any chapter with Tilea as the POV becomes less and less funny as the story goes on and more and more face-meltingly irritating.

Thankfully the other POVs, while still kind of annoying at times, never get as bad as hers, and later on the author even introduces Jessica, a character who is fully aware of just how broken (and ret*rded) Tilea can be and actually saves her city just by tricking her into fighting the bad guys, which I appreciated a lot.

Overall this is a fun, if sometimes irritating, series (even more so than any other misunderstanding-comedy I have read), but there is one thing you have to keep in mind if you wish to give it a go: this work might look cute and funny on the surface, but later parts (especially the second arc) contains some absolutely disturbing "fridge horror" moments. For example, as it is written in the description, Tilea's little sister becomes a demon general. That is quite literal, and even though the protagonist is in serious denial about it, the little girl she grew up with and adores is literally dead and her body is taken over by Camilla, the True Ancestor of all vampires and a psychopath who would massacre all of humanity in a heartbeat with her very own hands if left to her own devices. And that's just chapter one.

So yeah, I would actually recommend reading this series in small doses, only skimming most of Tilea's POV chapters from the second volume onward and just not thinking too deeply about how all of the quirky side characters are monstrous mass-mu*derers who are presumably killing innocent people off-screen all the time while the MC is not around. Like that, this is a fairly fun series. <<less

This is a very love it or hate it kind of story. More so than any other I've read, the main character is completely and utterly s*upid. She basically never has even a vague understanding of what's going on around her. If that sounds frustrating I urge you to not even think about reading this.

However, I'm generally a fan of the (lucky) misunderstanding comedies, this one is no exception. The characters are generally likeable and the story doesn't stagnate (although the jokes might).

I see Tilea's Worries as a litmus test for how much you are really into 'misunderstandings' as a genre. There is really dumb stuff in this novel, but it never lets go of the premise it sets up, and that's why I kept reading. I like misunderstandings as a plot device; my favorite web novel is The Eminence in Shadow. If you are the same way, you will probably enjoy this too, despite it's shortcomings. It's kind of charming, actually.

The MC is a moron, like, seriously a real idiot over here. People keep trying to defend it like 'you don't get this kind of stuff' or 'its like angel densetsu' but that is genuine f*cking bullsh*t and its an insult to angel densentsu to compare this garbage fire to it

MC is dumb and annoying as f*ck. She views everything as "chuuni"-esque and doesn't realize how strong she is even though she fought against beings that would make normal people faint just from their presence.

She is prone to viewing herself as being above the rest and if someone tells her something incredible/unbelievable she immediately judges that the person is a chuuni.

Also, the humor gets old very quick. It only relies on misunderstandings to create conflict and honestly it's just a chore to read after a while.

Although the premise of an... more>> "unaware cheat character" is great, the execution is lacking and it's humor repetitive. <<less

This is the epitome of the japanese misunderstanding comedy genre, purposefully overdone in a way that makes one both want to read on and strangle the author. Fair warning, they beat the jokes to death and more, so either come prepared for a horse beaten long after it's dead or read it in small doses.

The description is spot on, but there is some rage-inducing s*upidity involved in this series, so it's definitely not for everyone.

My one complaint is how onesided the characters are, I wish the author would flesh them... more>> out a little more. Or just written it shorter.

Translation is quite good, especially explaining various memes and spoofs that's used in the series, but the writing of the series itself is a little chaotic and feels childish. Might be on purpose, given the story, but it still takes some enjoyment away from reading. <<less

Tilea worries about the oddest things and is not aware of what is really going on. Her common sense of the world is of course skewed and misunderstanding are the norm in her life. Not that she knows they are just misunderstandings. She applies the knowledge from her own world to categorize the people she knows, and finds them to be deluded when they do/say something out of the norm.

It is a rather enjoyable read as you can find yourself shaking your head at Tilea's self-delusion and the misunderstandings that... more>> occur in every chapter.

I have a feeling she will not be shaken out of her misunderstandings anytime soon... or at all. Every time someone with "common sense" of this world tries to do this, she refutes them with her own brand of "common sense". <<less

this is purely my opinion but I think the story kinda boring and repetitive since the misunderstand is way too forced and cringe (author trying to be funny and hilarious but fail terribly and your response is silent with awkward silent cricket sound as your background theme) just like Working!

I don't know and understand why most people here think the story and plot is hilarious which led their side to hurt cause laughing too much even thought I think this story isn't even funny neither interesting which led this Novel... more>> to be overrated.

I think "Evil God Average", "i said make my ability average" is similar and even more interesting and hilarious than this one thought if you prefer Female Over Powered as the Main Character. <<less

... Its not a bad web novel, per say, but you WILL need to be a bit more tolerant and on a certain state of mind to CONTINUE enjoying the comedy here. The main character is flat-out ret*rded, early on you can explain away some of the misunderstandings she has with some things but as the plot goes on it becomes really.... really... really irritating. The author is keeping the misunderstanding running gag for FAR TOO LONG.

The read is easy, few grammar or spelling mistakes, but you will kinda want... more>> to skip on some portions, since the MC will misunderstand the hell out of things and it becomes really predictable. There's a larger plot here and quite alot of intrigue but you'd have to endure the sheer SUSTAINED running gag of misunderstandings and the MC continually interpreting things in a very idiotic way - she may be under some kind of influence, I don't know, but really gets annoying after 50 or so times (You might run out of patience much earlier - I was forcing myself to read by that point). <<less

I can see the appeal, but it's not for me. I got old really fast after 10 chapters. The author dropped the series (probably became demotivated after the LN got axed), so there's no chance of it ever being finished either. We're supposed to believe that the MC learned from his chuunibyou phase, and doesn't want his little sister to fall for the same trap. Which is fine. But (s) he still acts like a complete moron despite knowing he's in a world of sword and fantasy, and still thinks... more>> everything is a big chuuni game hundreds of chapters later despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. I can only suspend disbelief so far.

Just a heads up, you should read the available translations on oniichanyamete first before switching over to re-library when you have to. I don't know why oniichanyamete's script is copy-pasted on re:library, but they changed sentences and censored words like "masochist" for some s*upid reason. <<less

Masterpiece is the only correct discription.

This novel is unbelieveable funny, when you read this awsome thing you wont stop laughing. EVER.

To the story: The MC is the moderatly s*upid Tilea, who after beeing a Chunnibi in her/his previus life is scared of ever thinking herself OP or a magician/warrior ect. This leads to her denying her own OP power, instead she tries her best at beeing a cook. However the surounding characters (who include a wide cast of unique demon generals and their subordinates) are not that naive and constantly... more>> misinterpret every of Tilea`s actions. This leads to a multitude of funny missunderstandings.

Futhermore (without spoilering) there seems to come a plotwist soon

simply a great read with a gripping and extreamly funny story <<less

There are a lot of negative reviews seeming to expect this novel to be something it never tries to be. This is essentially a slice-of-life story; the only reason it isn't tagged as such is because there is a lot of action going on behind the scenes.

The MC is an idiot. A lovable idiot, but an idiot nonetheless. She's traumatized by her past delusions, so her internal pendulum swings too far the other way, and she desperately rationalizes everything she sees, or even things she herself does. What makes the... more>> novel entertaining is that she somehow stumbles into making the more-or-less correct decisions for all the wrong reasons, despite her ongoing self delusion. <<less

I got into this series due to a friend's recommendation. At first, I wasn't sure what I was reading. After all, how could the protagonist never realize what is going on?

However, I've come to really enjoy this story. Regardless of the fact that the protagonist is likely one of the densest I've ever read about, this story is one of the only ones that I continue to revisit just because of how much it makes me laugh.

The story isn't for everyone though. The translator does clearly state this on the... more>> main page for the series. If you enjoy laughing at the antics of characters reacting based on misunderstandings, and aren't looking for a series that focuses more on action and adventure, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this story like I have. <<less

I'll be honest, I've been aware of this novel for a while, but I always skipped it. Mostly because of the description, it didn't really catch my attention, but...

Finally got around to reading it and I have to say, I'm glad I did, the premise is brilliant and overall it's one of my favorite web novels. Tilea might be a former male, but she's the cutest thing ever, the biggest air head I've seen and the best part is how she interprets the "chuunibyou" talk of the people around her.

Coming back reading the novel.

First time reading and does not take the story seriously then think this purely as comedy. You will be fine and will have fun.

But coming back re read from chapter 1 and realize how useless Tilea is and does not realized how powerfull she is.

Is really annoying to read, because she is a burden.

I really wish, I'm still innocent and still can read this and comedy.

Tilea's Worries is a well done misunderstanding story. The sheer density of the protagonist (and some of the people around her) can be annoying, but the story itself is internally consistent and the characters are lovable in an exasperating kind of way. You do start to feel sorry for some of the more common sense characters though with how they suffer from all the barely stable chaos happening around them.

Spoiler

The reason Tilea is so dense is because she's literally being mind controlled by the demon king inside her not to notice anything wrong. Her surroundings are also controlled so that they don't notice his presence either and anything they think about that could enlighten her is brainwashed away.

[collapse]

The foreshadowing up to the reveal is sparse but it's pretty nice too. <<less
