Jiang Tang is a bit unlucky. She transmigrated. Her husband is an absolutely wicked villain beyond redemption in an Otome video game.

In the end, because he wanted to have the female lead by force, his family was broken up and ruined by the decent male lead, ending very miserably.

Besides that, their eldest son will become the future BOSS, his second son will become the vicious male supporting character, and the youngest daughter will become a very cunning, ignorant, and incompetent cannon fodder.

Jiang Tang is very anxious. If she was really the villain’s wife, then according to the plot, she will die from illness after a year.

Jiang Tang looked at her villain husband, rubbed her little hand, and said: “Bro, let’s get divorced. Children belong to you, the property belongs to me.”

The villain husband: ???

My husband, sons, and daughter are all wicked people.

In order to stay alive, Jiang Tang made painstaking efforts to transform the children into positive and upright good young people. At the same time, she also harvested her own love.

Came right after reading mtl.

--- slightly spoiler ---

It's not dog blood drama relatively relaxing. Especially like liang shen-second child- hahahahaaa some conversations was really funny. And at first ten or so chapters different from the rest of the novel. It's not about system tell and MC have to do. MC has a strong personality and I think it's believable that at first she couldn't accept the children. So it's up to you but it's a good novel.

hello, self-proclaimed professional mtl-er here!

since i've read this story to its completion, this story automatically gets a pretty good rating from me! I loved seeing her learning to love the children and trying to set them on the straight path (lol), and the male lead pursuing her! The sweet family relationship was nice---

At about chapter 52 (little over a third of the story), I was done. This story is just a mishmash of ideas. Maybe they go into detail on one aspect later but I was already feeling like I was punishing myself by chapter 40.

The FL/MC is meant to be a strong independent woman but she comes across as selfish and asinine. The ML is aggressive, shallow and just as selfish. They both admit they're terrible parents and the FL tries to change but the ML just seems to be led... more>> around by his pen*s. I can handle the aggressive want-to-bone attitude but they made that his main trait.

There is a system who is apparently monitoring multiple people. Outside the amusement that brings (there isn't much), it's not done overly well. It's the FL's main source of being "badass" when she refuses but she still does what the system requests her to do.

Then there is the mental issues of the son. While the story writes it as justifiable due to his trauma, it just adds to the too-much plot that is going on. There is just so much happening in the first third of the book that I couldn't find myself developing an attachment to any of the characters or plotlines.

Spoiler

We have a potential 2nd ML (or villain) who has the thought process that he's an anomaly. The FL rescues him from a fire and this is what prompts the ML to actually give her the divorce (because apparently rushing into a fire to save people means something other than a need to save people).

Following that, there is the 2nd kid's teacher who tries to seduce the ML. He gets her fired so she tells the 2nd kid that his mother, the FL, did it to pit them against each other. Which has the FL take the kid to the ex-teacher's house for her to force the teacher to explain (what?).

We have the random next-door neighbour (who is coincidentally the ori-ML) and is also the Eldest kid's deskmate. They don't like each other. But he quickly starts crushing on the FL's daughter (despite the fact that they're really young).

The FL gets "help" from the other people the System is monitoring but it just ends badly for her each time (it was funny the first two times, it was old by the third).

The Eldest Kid runs away when he overhears them talking about getting him a psychiatrist.

All of that in 50 chapters.

[collapse]

So yeah. Pacing is bad. Characters are bad. Story is all over the place. If this had one of those things, I'd probably still read it and recommend it but it's just too much bad. <<less

I really like this story, the characters depicted in my opinion are somewhat similar to conglomerate people Which can have the nature of demons and angels depending on the situation. Some people criticize ML as*hole I think the writer wanted to make a reasonable and realistic character, The story not too much drama, maybe a bit silly but the story is very fresh and sweet,

Love the story overall. I just dont like how they handled Ouyang's child ab*se. They cared more about his ego than his health.
Spoiler

They let him suffer more before doing anything. And it's so unrealistic. Like, they can just take the kid after he was seen to at the hospital? They didnt let him stay for observation? He has blood coming from his scalp/head! He might be concussed. But no, the Doctor said he's fine just like that. And it's obvious the kid was ab*sed and the police was not called? Or atleast a social worker? Really? Is that how it works in US?

@whateverlol1, "rape" and "r*pe victim becomes lover" definitely were absent from the tags when I read this, so please don't victim-blame other readers for getting upset that triggering and problematic content isn't forewarned. Probably someone keeps maliciously removing these crucial tags from the list. I added them back in, so if anyone reads this review and those tags are missing, you know what happened.

*3.5 "The ML ain't so bad" Stars*

(rounded up in rating because I love a good childcare novel)

I know the top liked reviews are complaints about the ML, but in the grand scheme of Cnovels he's really not that abusive. I would say he's a cold character that slowly opened up after the FL entered the scene and learned, with the FL, how to be a loving husband and father. But of course, your mileage may vary - I think reading the first coupe of chapters is indicative enough... more>> to figure out if you'll like him or not.

TRANSLATION

The translator has an easy-to-navigate website and did a pretty good job. I would say there's room for improvement, as there were subject-verb disagreements, wrong words sometimes, pronoun errors, and in general confusing sentence structures, but nothing that left it unreadable (and better than MTL, I guarantee it). They stop at chapter 143 but there's about 5 more extra chapters that one can read on an MTL site.

BEING A VILLAIN'S WIFE

The very first scene is a s*x scene, which kind of sets the tone for the story. Our FL Jiang Tang used to be a film empress and, after death, was tasked with becoming a good mother and wife to the villain in the story. Her banter with her husband (our ML) is fun and flirty, and she slowly develops feelings for him and her kids. The transmigration plot takes up about 30% of the story, while the rest of the chapters follow more of a slice-of-life timeline on events that happen after her transmigration. The author still keeps it interesting enough, such as adding variety TV shows and rivals in film and love, but overall the tone is relaxed and warm.

In the romance department, Jiang Tang starts off pretty flirty with the ML villain husband. They'll have casual s*x (other reviewers might view it as non-consensual but tbh I think the undertones were pretty consensual. The FL isn't the type of character to go through if she's not into it; it's just that the ML can be a little pushy at times). She even asks for a divorce and tells the ML he can find someone else if he wants. Ofc the ML is possessive and gets upset at that news, slowly letting readers know that despite being forced to marry the ogFL's body (since the ogFL's mom schemed them together through a drugged night), he's loyal and steadfast. The romantic progression starts quickly on the ML's side as he finds his wife suddenly becoming playful and emotional, while the FL takes a longer time to warm up to him. In the end though, his loyal and protective ways win her over.

Spoiler

I also like how she mentions her transmigration towards the end to him!

[collapse]

In the childcare department, I love how the FL raises her kids. She may make mistakes, but apologizes and learns from them. Slowly, she wins the hearts over of her three (technically four) children and becomes super close. The children were fun! And honestly not as annoying as I expected. There's the eldest son Chu Yi who is responsible and well-read, as well as his second personality Ah Wu who is the fierce, older brother that protects everyone. Following that is the goofy and airheaded Liang Shen who is naughty yet lovable. And at the tail end is the cute and spoiled princess, Qian Qian. Their relationships start with distrust and stubbornness, but slowly grow towards mutual love and affection. I would say it takes around the 50% mark for the children to fully accept Jiang Tang, so it's a gradual development. The children's antics are generally super cute!

EXTRA TRANSMIGRATION TIDBITS

While the transmigration bits were minor in this story, they were fun additions. The system Xiao Ke doesn't get brought up much, but they set up a group chat with other transmigrators that Jiang Tang talks with sometimes. The transmigrators have to do their missions to earn extra life years, all as a part of a TV show program (which doesn't get talked much about).

There's an additional character not in the original script who comes into play as well. He veers into the 2ML zone at first but worry not, as he quickly steps aside and ships the main couple. Sadly, the original story and heroine doesn't get expounded on so we don't learn much about them. Instead, the extras follow the children (ofc with a HEA).

SLICE OF LIFE TIDBITS

Well, the rest of the story is childraising, falling in love with the divorced husband, and starting up Jiang Tang's career again. There are unscrupulous characters that pop up, some adventures that go down in the books, and new experiences for the whole family. It's easy for me to lose interest in slice-of-life stories (they always start out SO good and end up getting boring), but this one caught my attention to the point of a binge-read. Intermingled with the happy times are also sad events as well (but nothing too tragic, imo).

Finally, on the note of their eldest son and his DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) : I appreciated the FL's approach on treating both personalities as equals and loving them as individuals. Oftentimes Cnovels villainize people with DID and label mental illnesses as "wrong", but the family ended up accepting both personalities at 100%.

Spoiler

However, the way the story ended with one of the personalities leaving was not so good. It kind of ruined the overall message of acceptance just so the eldest child could be "cured"? And even if there's a line about how both personalities are the same person, I think the execution could have been a lot better if the author was planning on merging them.

[collapse]

OVERALL

I took a chance on this modern transmigration Cnovel, despite the potential of a bad ML, and I ended up really enjoying it! The FL was fierce and not afraid to face-slap people when they deserved it. The ML was 110% devoted and supportive to the FL and her schemes. Finally, if you're looking for a cute childcare novel, you're at the right place. The children are full of vivacious personalities and the whole family left a warm note in my heart.

Trigger Warnings: dubcon, human trafficking, child physical and mental ab*se

TL;DR Read this if you're into:

  • Lots of children page time, childcare, and learning to love children
  • Doting husband with smexy times scattered in between
  • A boss lady FL who fiercely protects her family
  • Modern slice of life with plenty of dog food and face slaps
  • A happily ever after!

Please note that this story wasn't fully translated yet so please continue reading the side stories in MTL.

I really love this story. I'm glad I took my time to read this despite its mixed reviews. What I love the most is how the characters of this story were full of flaws.
    • MC didn't instantly hit it off with ML and her instant children. In the beginning, she even treated herself as a passerby and only tried to finish her missions quickly before going back to her world but after she got close to her children, she began to sympathize with them and gradually treated herself as their friend and later as their mother. MC also wasn't perfect in everything. She was an awful cook and still didn't improve much even after practicing for so long. Sometimes, she also made a mistake in regards of her parenting style but she learnt from it and strived to get better over times.
    • Some said that ML was rap*y but I didn't think that was the case. I think he just didn't understand much about love. He had a tragic childhood and his adoptive mother was strict to him. Later, he grew up to be an emotionless man. Moreover, his relationship with org MC wasn't started off good.
      Spoiler

She was drugged by her mother and slept with ML. After she got pregnant, ML had no choice than to marry her.

      [collapse]
So, it wasn't that surprising that they had a terrible marriage. Because he didn't love her, he didn't really consider her feeling when he slept with her since he thought that it's her obligation as his wife. But although he didn't like org MC much, he's still loyal to her throughout their unhappy marriage. He began to change after he met and fell in love with MC. He learnt to respect other's feeling and became less domineering in front of MC. And with MC, he also tried hard to become a better father for his children.
    • The kids were also far from perfect. Unlike in other transmigration novel where the kid was often so sensible and adult-like, MC's nominal kids were full of problem. Even the most sensible Chu Yi also had a dark side. But after they got better, I found them very sweet and cute.
As for the ending, it was full of fluff. The author even gave side stories about the children's future. But I think the author forgot adding Xia Luo's side stories since she was supposed to be FL from the original story.

I think this novel is quite good. The ML was unbearable in the beginning but then he got better. This is one of the novels that doesn't forget about the child and not just vaguely mention them. The og body is not a good mother but she's not of a sound mind. She got years of depression that gradually got worse each years. She was pressured/sent by her mother to her not-yet-husband's bed, almost died in childbirth, still young, absent husband, a child she didn't want. It's no wonder she... more>> got post partum depression. She did ab*se her oldest child but it's more like emotionally ab*se him and always give him cold eyes. <<less

This novel is really good. This one is not the usual transmigration stories because unlike the others, the children didn't like FL at first but slowly as the story progress, the relationship between mother and children also between husband and wife got repaired.

Personally I like this novel because the FL behavior is realistic and brave too, the characters' behavior and personality developed slowly but surely, and the plot is fresh. Unlike the other comments, I think there is no r*pe. Sure there is this one accident where ML got jealous... more>> and then do something quite rude to FL, but they don't do it, you know what I mean. But that's just it, afterward the ML apologized to the FL. Again personally I think this one scene can't be used to justify the whole of the story and I really recommend this one to be read. <<less

This is great! I love how much fleshed out the kids are, which is rare for the genre. Usually it's your typical wuwuwu kid who immediately goes along with anything the new mother does, just because she meets the bare minimum of child care's needs. This is not the case. The author here treats kids not like props but like characters.

Romance between MC and ML is okay, like a cherry on top. MC herself is not a mother of the year but seeing how the kids are not really hers,... more>> she got them cheaply after transmigration, I kudos her parenting, and slow-build of real familial relationships between all of them. <<less

This novel made me laugh then cry and laugh some more. It was such an amazing emotional journey. To be honest I've read so many novels that they all start to blur together. Yet, this story was truly a joy to read as I try and sum up my thoughts at 4:30am.

Minor spoilers below...

We start off with an extremely dysfunctional household. The main character, Jiang Tang, is thrown into a new life because of a system. She is continuously forced to complete task or risk loosing her life... but this... more>> just becomes quite comedic as our MC fights back against the system. Anyways, the system becomes less and less important as our MC discovers meaning In her new life. She slowly begins to recognize the people in this 'otome world' as real humans (not just game characters).

This highlights the novels main strength: character growth. And oh lord does each character grow and change in so many beautiful ways, from the MC finding happiness and love; to the ML, Lin Suizhou, casting off his childhood shadows and becoming stronger in the face of adversity through love and trust; to each and everyone of their children (adopted included) learning to love themselves and those around them. Honestly I could truly cry at how beautiful each character overcame their own demons and became stronger from it.

The pacing of the story was well thought out and each task by the system was more than just a plot device, it was a guide to self reflection and maturity. I personally enjoyed the Travelling arc to the mountain villages. The ending to that segment was quite the emotional ride.

The acceptance of A'Wu was also an ongoing theme throughout the novel which was carefully thought out and no shame was implied in the author's writing. Mental health is such an important topic and I'm glad the author is creating a positive view on this subject matter.

A couple other key plot points I enjoyed. Please skip if you don't want to be spoiled.
Spoiler

The death of Lin Aiguo was an emotional impact on the whole family and it truly made me see Lin Suizhou in a new light; I could really appreciate his vulnerability and growth. Another part I enjoyed was the production of the su*cide movie which also was a short and interesting topic for this novel to cover.

[collapse]

Also the epilogue (s) are really cute too! They really made me feel empty once I read the final sentence. I definitely wanted more, alas all good things must come to an end.

Please check this novel out, in fact this is a book I wouldn't mind re-reading one day. <<less

I just want to clarify, many write that the heroine was drugged and r*ped, but this is not so. The heroine's mother forced her to pursue many rich men and even wanted to force her into prostitution. And then the heroine agreed to sell herself to one man.

The mother and daughter drugged the villain and the heroine slept with him. And when she became pregnant, the villain took responsibility and married her. The villain knew that he was specially drunk and considered that the heroine had achieved her goal. She... more>> lived in luxury, her husband is constantly at work. Because of the postpartum depression of the older child, she hated. Locked him in a closet, ignored him. Then the eldest son had a second personality, which turned the younger children against their mother. The main character could have had an abortion or taken a pill and the villain would not have known about it, but she gave birth. And then she got tired and began to cheat on her husband. Instead of treating her depression, talking to her husband, she herself ruined her life, children and husband.

Everything is not so good with our villain either, in front of his eyes, his parents were tortured for about five days, and then he spent 24 hours alone with their corpses. He was then adopted by a violent woman who periodically beat him. He grew up wild. And that's why he didn't beat his children.

I'm not making excuses, but there are no perfect ones. The problem is, they didn't talk to each other. And in fact, our villain loved his wife, but did not understand it. And the children loved their mother. <<less

When I first started to read this novel, I was skeptical. I thought this would be like a cliche transmigration cn novel. It kinda is but there is this uniqueness to it. The FL is a very strong boss lady. I didn't like the ML at first since he was so arrogant that it makes one want to enter the novel and punch him but his character development was also understandable. The kids were also very cute. Liangshen was the rudest among his siblings but he eventually became... more>> one of my fave characters.
Spoiler

Ah Wu was also a good character in the story. Although in the start he would plot against everyone around him he eventually changed. I was quite sad he was "gone" when Chu Yi became a happy kid once again. But I understand he isnt really gone but rather he is still there now as Chu Yi.

The story's a bit hard to stomach in the beginning and towards the end. Overall it was humorous, tragic, and a tad angsty.

So? r*pe. Yes. He r*ped the original owner of the body. The circumstances of how they got together make them both victims since they were set up by the original owner's mother who sought wealth.

But later on in their marriage, he often took her body without her consent as much as he liked. s*x without consent is r*pe. Doesn't matter if you're in a relationship, legally binding or... more>> not. Even after MC enters the scene, he'd approach her with the mindset "I can have my way with you since we're married." He had sexually assaulted her.
Spoiler

I'm talking about the party in S city scene. He dragged her into a corner, she didn't know who it was. Not knowing if she'd lose her life, she rather just get r*ped and try to ask for him to wear a cond*m after he stripped her bare and nearly forced himself on her. That's when he turned the lights on and she finally got to see her perpetrator who was her husband in name.

[collapse]
Aside from that case, she consented when he got her into the mood and with the condition of having protected s*x.

ML is also pitiful in his own right. Their entire family of 5 is. People carrying their baggage were forced together, having children out of accidents, and kept having children and the baggage increased and passed along to them. And then our MC gets to smooth out this mess as a single woman who had no experience with maintaining a marriage, less to speak of child-rearing. It's all trial and error. A process of learning.

ML will make mistakes, and so will she, but it's all about making rights out of wrongs as much as they can.

I feel split on the story. The kids were annoying and cute, it definitely succeeded past the normal degree of novel kids being poster mascots or story prop tools. ML tried to fix himself as much as possible but towards the end, he still ticked me off. For thrills, the author would exaggerate events a bit too much, too many plot conveniences here and there, and too many rainbow farts blown at MC that felt like padding word count.

Characters would act unnatural during plot twists. Character growth was decent.
Spoiler

The most BS moment in the story had to be the death of ML's adoptive mother Lin Ai Guo. Getting remarried only a week after her death seems extremely inappropriate, especially for Asians. Whatever the reason may be, saying oh, life is short w/e, is highly inappropriate to celebrate shortly after a family member's passing. At least wait 49 days or 3 months....

The wedding is okay, but New Year wasn't celebrated in the manner that it should have been because of her mother-in-law's passing??? I...?????? WA????

Then, right after, there was the incident of the family visiting their daughter's crush/ogML. He's being ab*sed and seeing this, ML turned around and... left? Said for the sake of the child's EGO the kid should contact him themselves for help? A 7-year-old. BRO. Yeah sure, let's treat the nanny in the corner throwing daggers with her eyes at the ab*sed child like air and act like it's for the sake of his... ego. ML was extremely disdainful towards MC as well when he reproached her about this too. Right back to his old ways of being overly controlling and egoistic.

There's no guarantee in the world that his tormentors wouldn't accidentally kill him during the ab*se, there's no guarantee his tormentors wouldn't find him trying to contact someone else for help.

Then, when he did reach out for help, he suffered another bout of beating. On their way back in his beaten up state, he went to buy a christmas/birthday gift and... the employee just acted like NOTHING's wrong. 7 yr old with bleeding open wounds on the head and messy clothes and hair, sure yeah marry Christmas thanks for the purchase? LOL I CAN'T!!!!! And ofc later in the hospital, and patched up this obviously domestically ab*sed child, nobody alerts authorities because the law sleeps when protagonists are involved.

The author is a little bit sick in their head for writing extremely graphic things and then sprinkling sugar on gore like nothing.

[collapse]

The entire story didn't make too much sense to me because the one making up for the mistakes of the mother isn't the person who caused it and the ML wasn't making it up to the person he caused harm to. (Sure he had been condescending towards her and there's 1 time r*pe attempt but it can't amount to the suffering OG went through) I'm sure the original doesn't care and doesn't want to because she was the one who took up the initiative to leave.

Regardless, I feel it's quite irrelevant for a random person to 'make up' to a family she didn't owe jack to. MC is unattached to her original world except for her career, if she had a family and lovers, she'd be eager to return. IDK why the author made MC take on the identity of the mother except for her new family to accept her quicker. <<less

Looking on description, I thought that FL won't end up with the villain ML, yet she did.

What I like on this story is how the FL doesn't instantly hit it off with ML, especially her children. As a transmigrated character, she doesn't have any attachment nor burden to educate and raising the children, and later she's doing it because the system, and the premise that she can live her live freely without the plot binding her.

The children is adorable despite their mischiefs. Their character development is the most significant. The... more>> other character is entertaining as well.

About the ML, the description clearly stated that he 'WICKED VILLAIN BEYOND REDEMPTION, even in the original plot, he will 'forced upon' the far younger original FL. He indeed the villain, and the dynamic between him and FL is quite toxic, but he got his redemption in the end.

The part that I really like in this novel was when they encounter the trafficking village. The thriller and horror quite well described. <<less
