T*ash of the Count’s Family

When I opened my eyes, I was inside a novel.

[The Birth of a Hero].

[The Birth of a Hero] was a novel focused on the adventures of the main character, Choi Han, a high school boy who was transported to a different dimension from Earth, along with the birth of the numerous heroes of the continent.

I became a part of that novel as the tr*sh of the Count’s family, the family that oversaw the territory where the first village that Choi Han visits is located.

The problem is that Choi Han becomes twisted after that village, and everyone in it, is destroyed by assassins.

The bigger problem is the fact that this s*upid tr*sh who I’ve become doesn’t know about what happened in the village and messes with Choi Han, only to get beaten to a pulp.

“…This is going to be a headache.”

I feel like something serious has happened to me.

But it was worth trying to make this my new life.

I loved this at first. Isekai, underestimated MC, and with no romantic affiliations to a lot of women. There were loyal servants, friends and the MC met a lot of prominent figures.

However as the story progressed, the MC's character "wavered". There were a lot of changes going on with him. The way people would react around him became predictable, and I felt like their characters became inconsistent too. That was why I stopped reading this.

Anyway, this is only my opinion and I am not trying to discourage potential readers. I... more>> am just giving an honest feedback.

So in short, it had a good start but it lacked consistency as it went on. <<less

All I have to say is, THIS IS ONE HELLUVA NOVEL. I like every aspect about it. The characters are amazing and there is no 'useless' characters. And Cale (mc) is my favorite protagonist ever. His character in itself is very charismatic. I will not say anything abt cuz it feels everything would be a spoiler. And everyone's reaction every time Cale coughs up blood or faint is just precious. This is one of the best novels I have ever read. And I can assure u that u will not... more>> regret reading this.

One thing I love about this novel is how the author explains all the events in the story. Like why he was transmigrated, how does he remember everything, why he is so cold and wants a slacker life and the in-depth characterization is what draws me to this. Everything is not about plot Armour. Cale always thinks 2-step before because he IS smart, that's his specialty. To the peeps who rated it 2 and 3 stars, you should've read the story a little more in depth to actually like the story. A lot of people dropped it so early on that they couldn't get what makes the novel so good. I can only say that u missed out on a great novel.

Maybe I'm being rude and biased but I really really love this novel ❤🤍 <<less

This ist my favourite novel ever and I absolutely love everything about it, like...:

*the relationship between Cale and all other main character

*the world Building

... more>> *the Story Progression

*the Fights

*the character Buildung (Feeling, thoughts, Background's Storys, growth, etc.)

*I like also the Main character Cale alot Like His tsunder Part, how much he loves His Family/Friends and would do Always His best to protect Them although he might get hurt by doing this, his smartness by creating plans, his kindness... I JUST LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM 😍😍

*I also love the mystery of the novel which got slowely solved during the novels progression

* Because of all the things which happend every single chapter I never got bored

* I find the length of the chapter very good, not too short but also not too long

* The translation is also very good

* The fact that the author upload three chapters every week

* The comedic undertone

*The very very very interesting plot

* The plot twist

*The fact that every single detail in this novel have a special meaning

etc.

There is NOTHING I hate about it so for me this novel gets 💯/5 !!! <<less

Idk what to say I just love this sm even tho im not exactly a novel reader😆 I read the manhwa first then found out theres novel the manhwa is so good so I proceed to the novel and its still so good✋😍 well some ppl gives low rating and state why, and I understand that but for me, the part that some ppl dont like I actually like it very much I dont complain for it, idk how to say but to me its like its own charm and... more>> that make it good for me😚 hahhaha I love cale when he say hes not a 'good' person when hes done so many good deed and gives excuse that he do that not cause hes a good person lol, and he keep saying hes gonna live a slaker life and rolling on bed for 50 years when the next second he do is protect ppl and keep putting himself on line when he say 'i wont do anything to put myself in danger' sigh.. But thats why I like abt him tho, the character is well developed and the villainis srsly amazing, the only thing I dont like is probably theres too many character I need to remember (my brain is shitty I srsly cant remember humans name😶) <<less

This novel is a perfect 5/10 and because of that I can't bring myself into reading it, specialty because it just became boring after a while. This is really sad because I really liked this novel and even thought of it as the better version of The Novel's extra where the MC is not dumb.

First let's talk about the positives of this novel:

  • MC is transported into a world that he have a previous knowledge without any reason for why he was there of even if he died in his previous world or not, but after he realizes where he is he quickly start planning how do survive in the world manipulating everything around him to create a safe place for him to stay.
  • The plot and world building are not that bad, as the information that the MC have is limited so after a point he needs to explore new places to know how to better progress in the world. As such how everything comes into place is very well executed most of the time and you really don't have many questions of why they are going into certain places or doing certain things.
  • The side characters are interesting to a point but I can say that when they appeared everyone had their own personality. They are not left behind as the story goes on and even some of their personality are changed, although not by much. Each character have their own role in the story, at least until where I am after all I only stopped around chapter 259 of almost 700 right now.
Now the bad:

  • The author is not consistent with the MC. As we read the story the MC thinks one thing, says another that can even contradict what he thought and then do something else that is not in line with both beforehand and even end up thinking 'why the hell I'm doing this?'. This would be fine if it was properly developed or even if someone would get under his skin and call out the his bullsh**, but we don't have someone like that and this problem isn't even developed by the writhing. And for me the only reason why the author does that is because otherwise the story would end or he would need to actually wrote a character arc for the MC and we can't have that, even if it's already more than two years in the story AND THERE WAS A f***ING WAR (where most people didn't die or even got any serious consequences..... Thanks author <- sarcasm).
  • Another thing that need to be mentioned is the fact that the MC got a power that heals himself and make him be in the peak (fiscally) all the time and instead of using it to train and got a better body to face the problems that will apear later, he literally does nothing and only survives because of luck (or a dragon, whatever you want to call it). It would be one thing if he doesn't want to be in the battlefield and only manipulate things in the dark but he almost never does it and as such is dumb how he always complains about his body but don't do anything to change it. Later the author even gives him a power up because he realized how far behind in power level he is compared to others and didn't want to change MC's personality from "I'm lazy and don't want to do anything + I'm always complaining when I'm doing/after I do something".
  • The author spend too much time describing irrelevant things than actually developing the plot and when it get to the action it's poorly handled. I don't have a problem with quick fight scenes with only few moves deciding the course of the fight, but you can only take so much as you spend time with unnecessary repetition and bad/unnecessary descriptions that could be cut by half and nothing would be lost.
  • Most of the time it looks like the side character can't think for themselves, or better yet, the side character are very easily manipulated my the MC because of their misconceptions in relation to him and that misconceptions are never clear up and never will be as such no matter what he does there is always a excuse that they are waiting from him to say so they can say that the MC is a good person. Even the one character that was able to see that most of the times the MC was doing things for his own benefit (the guy also only cared about his own benefit and dind't care about the MC unless he would gain some profit from th interaction) falls in this category as he too end up seeing the MC as a 'saint' or something close to it like everyone else. The interactions in this work are very weird.
  • This last point is not directed at the novel but to the web comic. As I was reading it I got the impression that this story is made for fujoshis. Almost all the characters looks feminine and most the ones that are actually females characters don't dress like women or have a woman's physique. The only one until now that looks like a woman in the comic is Rosalyn and if you go to sites that have the comic you will see people commenting about how it have too much 'yaoi potencial' in it. There is no problem if that's what you like but this is not my cup of tea so this is a minus for me and I don't believe the artist would take this angle out of nowhere. Interpret this as you like.
As you can see I had quite a lot to say, but I still stand by my score. The novel is not bad and I really wanted to like it, but in the end it just became boring. Most of the problems that the MC faces is because he's not trying to resolve a bigger problem and because he want to spend most of the time doing nothing just show to me that if he really started training/going after the bigger problem from the very beginning... more>> or even after his first year in that world most of the dificultes would have been resolved more easily but because the author needs to create tension it end up just being artificial to me. You can say that around the time I stopped reading the MC became more active in trying to resolve the bigger problems but to me it looks more like the plot forced him to be like that and he really didn't develop into that position and even if later he became a better character most of the other problems still exist and my interest in the story is already lost at this point anyway. <<less

Is a very entertaining novel so I will keep the review short. It only has one major problem. Things get repetitive real quickly and after a few hundred chapters is just get irritating because even idiots can notice these fillers that keep doing the same thing. Is only fun for a bit. You should stop after maybe 300-400 chapter. After that there is really no point to read it anymore and waste your time on it. Unless you have tons of time to waste of course then be my guest.

I definitely recommend this novel!

The MC, Cale (kim rok soo), is neither a saint nor an evil overlord. He's a morally gray character who is cold-hearted to his enemies but will rush to help a friend. But his main goal is always to become a slacker lol. What I really liked about this novel is that Cale is strong, but not op, since his powers grow at a realistic pace, ... more>>

and his knowledge of the future (from the original novel) ends at a certain point since he didn't finish reading all the volumes.

And then there are the side characters, who are all unique and properly built upon throughout the story. Real character developments occur, and interactions are realistic and entertaining.

My personal favorites are:

  • the great and mighty Raon Miru! Who keeps apple pies for cale
  • crown price Alberu! Cale's one and only hyung
  • the chunni wind spirit "chaos, destructions, etc"

This novel also incorporates Cale's past world (which isn't like our world just so you know) into the plot, and some powers and characters from there come into play. Which was pretty cool considering all the isekaied highschooler/businessman I've seen lately.

There are lots of amazing battles too, however, the author tends to focus on 'what's going on in the fights' rather than the 'flash bang cool finisher moves' (idk how to explain it well). It's still pretty epic, but some readers consider it as a drawback.

This is just my personal opinion, but I really like how there isn't any romance and it's all fluffy family and friends so far. For people who are looking to read stories with romance, this might not be the best choice for you.

If you're interested in this novel, try reading a few hundred chapters before forming a solid opinion, since there are a lot of key elements of the story that get introduced later on and characters that really grow on you over time.

Seriously, try it! <<less

Cale (Kim Rock Soo) is undoubtedly a pretty good protagonist, he is cunning, strategic, he knows how to lead his people, how to protect them, he is a born leader who creates a great impact on those around him, he moves with his actions and / or words, he is persistent, always remains calm despite the circumstances and has incredible mental strength, if he lacks physical strength and martial skills or with the sword, however, being quite shrewd and intelligent and having in He tells about the ancient powers that... more>> he gains along with his vicious companions and that they protect him hardly or is seen as weakness since that rewards him quite well in my opinion, it is also interesting as although he does not like to be flashy or stand out over others, Being so charismatic he also ends up attracting more people, be they enemies or allies and problems that he wants to avoid at all costs in order to live in peace. <<less

Allright after I reading it past 482chp I decided to stop reading. Why?

Its because this novel is marvelous, I really liked how cale and friends have had to faced numerous events, how cale is getting stronger even tho he just collected ancient power in order not to be beaten to pulp by Choi Han and have a slacker life. And how cale treat the children hong, on and raon is adorable, cale is type he is saying he will not help you but then he'll vome back with a plan... more>> to rescue you (yep he is Tsundere). And I really like how he is afraid (sometimes) of the father-son duo and choi han even tho they have different mind to cale.

I really like how the author is pulling back everything again, and when I thought the problem is already cleared by cale and the gang and they have to faced new problem again.

I really recommended you to read this, you can give a shot until you read past 20/50chp Yes.. The plot is slow in the beginning but t

he story line will be very interesting in the middle because of the emergence of new people and how cale solves the problem.

Thats why I decided to hold on of reading this until (maybe) next year or until it is completed, I will wait until there are many chapters and then reading it to satisfy my curiosity. If you survive and read it until this chapter.. Welldone sir you really had done a good job

I'm really sorry of my lacking English language because english is not my first language in my country and I reslly appreciate it if you can recommended similar novel to this tr*sh of the counts family <<less

I'm suprised that a lot of peoples doesn't like this! I mean it was such a good novel. I love the characters, I love the plot. I love everything! About it

And because for me it was so good, I find it hard to find a novel that was as good and as engaging like this novel. So after I read this I was like blankly trying to find a novel similar to this for about a week or more, I don't even have the mood to read other novel cause... more>> of deep attachment to this

I mean come on just look at the plot itself, I like that the novel build a justify reason on why Choi Han is the male lead of the novel and why the MC is the one who transmigrated to the novel. And then! Damn White Star is like hidden BOSS, MC need to defeat and it was not even mentioned in the novel that MC read so MC need to find out about it itself.

I find it more and more anticipating the moment where the MC lose his cheat (the fact that he read ori novel so he knows about the future)

After that it was just rollercoaster like DAAAAMMMNN I did not expect that and like WHHHHAAATTTT are you freaking serious

For me, it was such a fantastic novel and I still following the update. I feel very attach to each of the characters mention in this novel, yes they were quite ummm worship? MC a bit too much but they are so cute thoughhhh! Their misunderstandings make me feel funny in my stomach

For those peoples out there, if you like a very easy going, smooth sailing, brotherhood novel with a bit of twist here and there, plus a good plot I totally recommend this novel

I read a lot of novels that try to like favor MC a lot, give a lot of "plot armor" something like that but this novel is the best at doing that without feeling "oh no here we go again I'm bored I bet everything gonna goes well"

Idk but this is just my opinion cause I REALLY LIKE ALL THE CHARACTERS IN THE NOVEL, GAAAAHHHH NOT KIDDING I LOVE MC I LOVE THE ORI ML NOVEL, I LOVE THE PRINCE I LOVE THE DRAGONS AND TWO KITTENS SO CUTE GAAAAHHHH

Best out of all the web novels I've read so far. (Currently read about 25+ novels and decided to make an account just to write a short review for my #1. That's how much I love this one).

Well written story. The plot twists are great as the story progresses. It catches the attention of the reader and makes you think of the connections of the hidden past and present. Oops.. Well its not a spoiler (salute to author-nim for such cleverness). Some might think the beginning is a bit dull... more>> but trust me soon enough you'll think otherwise.

Great transition of scenes which not only focuses on the main character but as well as the stories of sub-characters which are equally exciting as their growth are reflected and connects to the development of the whole story.

No dull moments!

If Raon's chubby paws could give a thumbs-up rather than an applepie this novel will definitely get one.

Must read for slackers or dreaming of a slacker life.

ROLF with misunderstandings and overload with cuteness of a great and mighty dragon. <<less

hey, for everyone that immediately gave this novel bad rating, but just read few chapter!!!

Come on... The interesting part still don't come!!

Believe me... This slowly but surely getting more interesting!!

... more>> The character become more live and the relationship between character really do improve!!

Maybe in the beginning, the character feel bland or plan or whatever it is.

But they improve!!

As for the MC become very smart or very OP... I don't think so. He really has reason for it. In his live in earth back then, he already like that. So, what's wrong with that??

Cale Henituse (MC) really become my fav character!! He put his friends first before himself. But he don't want to acknowledge that. Hehe. He really such a TSUNDERE!!

I'm fed up cuz the fluffiness between the MC and the children (1 dragon and 2 cats) !!

And the most important, this novel really don't has romance development. Maybe some people hate that. But well, if Cale has love interest, I think this novel won't be as amazing as now!

This novel is AMAZING!!!

I binge reading TCF until 500+ chapter!! Really worth my time!!! <<less

It's like reading an old school fantasy, adventure anime. Probably because:

a. More of a tell than show

b. At least one side character is there to comment how awesome/unbelievable MC is

... more>> c. The major villains are almost always motivated by greed

d. The Big Boss Villain has mysterious identity

e. Fight scenes are epic, outwordly battle

It's entertaining read, actually. Those complaining about how the MC says something but does the opposite don't seem to get that it's actually the point of his character?? Like MC's ultimate goal is a slacker life and wants to avoid conflicts and the spotlight but his actions are the opposite because, like explained in the later chapters, he must do all those annoying things to achieve his ultimate goal after a few years of active participation. He is thinking of long term slacker life in exchange for his short term participation in events.

MC also says he only helps people because they will help him and he is brutal honest about it unless he needs to 'scam' someone so he can help them. Yeah, he scam people to help them, lol, unless he is up against the villains then yeah, he's scamming to defeat them. I like it better than MC who dramatically announce he doesn't need anyone's help so they won't be bothered, then drag everyone around him in his drama. MC proclaims he doesn't need to step in so his subordinates can do the heavy work but when his 'subordinates' (friends/family, lol) seem to be in danger, he shield them (literally most of the time) and does the actual work.

It's not the best adventure fiction I've read, but it is entertaining and unproblematic, unlike other webnovels rife with sexism, h*mophobia, or s*xual assault masked as romance. There's no unnecessary romance, thank goodness, that's like a big plus for me here.

Anyway, it deserves its rating. Like I've said, it's like reading anime. It's fun and the characters are likeable. Even the side characters have their own personalities and you can actually set them apart from each other and make actual profile about them.

Looking forward to what happens next. <<less

This novel caught me off guard. It is amazing!! And so far, there's no romance, but is incredibly funny and full of adventure. It's also quite touching. The characters are awesome and the plot can get repetitive, only when he is trying to rope some one in, but it does not take away from the novel at all. I'm writing a review because I really love this novel right now. I think a lot more readers would enjoy it, especially since it actually veers into a direction that is atypical of the genre - but it's only apparent later on. I see other recent reviews have touched on this too. This novel really starts to shine once everything starts coming together.

The first part of the novel, in hindsight, was setting up: the world, the characters in this novel world that the MC read about and proceeded to pick... more>> them up and turn them to his side one by one so that they wouldn't hurt him and so that he can use them later on. This MC is very entertaining to follow and can quickly cook up schemes to use both his allies and his enemies in the best way for himself. In the end, he wants a chill life without worries. But first he's got to handle the war that's coming and ensure he still has a home after it...

And this is where the story REALLY picks up. Once the MC has gathered his pieces just in time for the war that was foretold in the novel he read (he only read up to that point), he no longer can predict everything. TCF turns from a common (but fun!) isekai where you use the knowledge you have to become OP to something amazing, filled with tactics and politics that keep you on the edge of your seat. It's so incredibly exciting to see all the previous story threads come together, to see the characters that the MC was setting up in the early chapters to play a role, to see that the author actually was building up to something instead of pointlessly meandering and everything is finally beginning to pay off. There is clear foreshadowing and build up and hinting of some plot elements to use later on that shows the author has given thought to this, and honestly I did not expect this from what looked to be another generic isekai.

Also, about the characters: although at the moment many are still quite one dimensional, there is no one particularly annoying. In this genre, I'm used to always having annoying characters in the MC's party, or harem members that only add annoyance and drama to the story, or some annoying side character that the MC refuses to get rid of. So I will drop this bomb here and say that TCF has none. Everyone does their part and works hard. Raon is the greatest and mightiest and deserves his own shoutout. As more characters are introduced, we get more entertaining character interactions.

Go give this novel a chance. <<less

This novel is so good! This is so in line with my tastes. The characters' interactions and internal monologues are so funny especially the misunderstandings. Lol. Anyways, the first 100+ chapters tackle world building and character introductions so I think that readers should try to be patient and give this novel a chance first. In the later part, (which is in 180+ chap or so) the plot development will take an exciting turn. All the characters introduced will have their own part in the overall picture. Even though this... more>> implies that the novel's atmosphere will be a shade darker and heavier, it's not. The author still retains the humorous vibe of the novel.

Edit: I gave it 4.5 stars at my first review but now I can confidently give it 5 stars. Well, because all of the cons of this novel at this point have been buried of the awesomeness of TCF.

1. The comedy is still there. I thought it will be gone according to the plot but, it is still there. The author's writing style is so consistent. 2. Reading this is a thrilling experience. While reading just one chap, one sec you're laughing then another you'll be having goosebumps. But, it's not infodump. The author's writing flow naturally. (To the point that I've been praising the author after reading each chapter. Haha.)

Reading this is sooo satisfying. I don't mind if this is going to have 1000+ chapters in the future. Haha. <<less

Honestly, the plot isn't that original -- individual transmigrates into a book that he has started reading but not finished (as that would give away too much information and make things less interesting) and has to live life as one of the would-be cannon fodders of the book. However, this novel does stand apart from others and doesn't have that "this seems like the same novel just with different names" feeling.

I think what really makes this novel enjoyable is the MC's personality, and the fact that he does not get... more>> unreasonable cheats (well he does but... I'll get into that later). Most MC's in this situation have this sort of "don't bother me and I won't bother you... but if you do bother me I'm gonna get immediate revenge now and then mega revenge later" personality. While I do occasionally like them (which why I read them), they do get boring after reading so many. This MC, however, has a "I just want to relax" personality and also gets that he cannot simply relax without doing anything to get himself into a position that allows that. So: laid-back, I-don't-care and don't-want-trouble personality, yet still has goals so that way the novel can actually progress without it seeming out of character for him. He can also seem unapproachable to other characters without trying unlike other MCs. His personality is like a hard-to-approach king or general in other novels. In my opinion, it's a really enjoyable change to the cookie-cutter personalities that MCs tend to have.

Also! About his "unreasonably strong" cheats. Usually in novels like this, the MC gets random cheats (like having super great martial art knowledge from their previous life or a special item) that the body they transferred into never had. They then kick bu*t that way. This MC, however, uses only his knowledge from the book and his own ability to adapt to any changes to survive. It seems more... realistic. (Yes, I do get that these are usually fantasy worlds where anything can happen. It still seems s*upid to me when it does.) Though he does get some cheat strengths, really it's just strong creatures having a habit to like being around him. Really, this is the most cheat-like ability he has. After all, normally not every strong creature tends to like someone. However, even then the author does give reasons for them doing so...

Overall, 5/5 I love this novel. <<less
