T*ash of the Count’s Family

Description

When I opened my eyes, I was inside a novel.

[The Birth of a Hero].

[The Birth of a Hero] was a novel focused on the adventures of the main character, Choi Han, a high school boy who was transported to a different dimension from Earth, along with the birth of the numerous heroes of the continent.

I became a part of that novel as the tr*sh of the Count’s family, the family that oversaw the territory where the first village that Choi Han visits is located.

The problem is that Choi Han becomes twisted after that village, and everyone in it, is destroyed by assassins.

The bigger problem is the fact that this s*upid tr*sh who I’ve become doesn’t know about what happened in the village and messes with Choi Han, only to get beaten to a pulp.

“…This is going to be a headache.”

I feel like something serious has happened to me.

But it was worth trying to make this my new life.

Hands down one of the best novel I've ever read.

The ML is not perfect. He has his shortcomings and flaws. The way he moulded what he wanted the way he wanted, is a plus.

As he 'assume' doing this and that would make sure his future stability and safety, the ML unconciously changing the course of fate and inevitably change his own fate too.

From time to time, he would meet and pickup new baggage member as his companion. From a little dragon to the dragon's mother, he created a whole village... more>> for them, unintentionally.

Although the premise started with a typical isekai, what interesting is everything have a twist and correlation. The reader would think, "yeah, this is it", then something else happened and something else on top of that happened.

Cliffhanger.

Also, this novel is surprisingly heartwarming and the tag 'childcare' should be included when he have little furballs all over him.

For a ML, he is quite reckless and weak. He only have his blue blood and his quick thinking, but even that, not all of his plan is bulletproof. He did what he thought is the best at the time?

Even if something seems a little too convinient for him, like suddenly he could inherit an ability or something like that, he didn't suddenly become strong than the ori!ML overnight.

Another good point is, no romance. Any other thing, but no romance.

Thank GOD. <<less

I'm so in love with this novel!!😍❤❤❤❤ so far the best fantasy novel I've read.

I'm new at writing reviews so I don't now what to write about XD It's a very entertaining and interesting story, with the right amount of funny moments that will make you laugh. The plot will keep your interest high and it has many characters with their unique traits that will make you love them. When I started to read it, I couldn't stop and I barely slept until I catch up with the latest chapter.

It... more>> has almost everything from the fantasy world. Every part of the story is connected to the main plot. Nothing is there just to fill up. There is a meaning or a connection behind everything that happens. The characters development is very good too. I like the author's writing style. It is well written and the description are excellent. The translation is great, the translator team did a great job <<less

I absolutely love this novel. The only novel that I actually love reading and wait eagerly for next update. I almost felt I died a bit when I heard about wuxiaworld dropping this novel. For real it felt like a part of me died while reading that news. But I am glad its being picked up by someone else. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH. REALLY APPRECIATED.

I don't know why there are quite a few negative comments about this novel and a lot of them doesnt even seem to make sense... more>> to me (*coughs* have read it to the latest chapter)

This novel is gold. Everything mentioned in this story is mentioned for a reason. Its like creating small dots and then in the end connecting them To complete a drawing. (I REPEAT EVERYTHING IS MENTIONED FOR A REASON) So, New readers, dont listen to negative comments lol. Plot is well written. It starts up slow but picks up later. Although author's style of writting few phrases is a bit annoying but you will get used to it. Lmao.

And also I saw some comments about not having character development or much to the side characters. Welp lol. I personally think every single character was flushed out at right timing and had great character development in this story. <<less

Honestly my favorite currently translated novel. The main character is a complete tsundere but in a good way (I normally hate the trope). The characters and their interactions are amazing, and the plot is actually solid and develops naturally over time. There is a shift from the early to the later chapters with a rise in the main character's motivation level and overall how much action is in the series. I love pretty much everything about this novel and I highly recommend it for basically anyone who isn't wanting an... more>> edgelord action series (not that there's anything wrong with those). That's not to say it doesn't have dark moments, there's moments when subjects like death or torture come up, but by and large it has a lighter feel. There are some shounen tropes such as characters being overly loyal to their friends, but by and large it avoids tropes I can't really stand anymore like friendship = power which I very much appreciate. Cale generally wins through trickery and outsmarting his opponents in ways that don't seem forced at all. The writing in this series is genuinely good, with certain phrases having double meanings and actual clever use of plot devices. <<less

People might find it boring but it is actually really interesting in my point of view. Two of the things that I find the most fun in this novel is

• Interaction between the MC and the prince

• The MC's monologue

Its a good read anyway.

Spoiler

Start is good, as every Korean novel it has interesting premise but execution is terrible. First the characters are refreshing, it's different from other power up wuxia/xianxia novels. MC wishes to live happy boring life after he was transmigrated from overworked orphan to one of the richest family in the kingdom. Well... of course that won't happen. MC is extremely lazy. It's his biggest quirk and it works for a while, it's even funny from time to time. But after 100 chapters it became extremely annoying. He just gathers "ancient" powers and overpowered people who becomes his personal bodyguards like pokemons due to his knowledge of the fictional novel "The Birth of the Hero" where he transmigrated. Which was about Choi Nan. He was transmigrated too. Which was interesting premise. But noooo, author made him just a complete lackey to our MC. He can't even think for himself. As other characters. They are all bland as plain oatmeal. After 150 chapters you just want to smack MC for being so lazy and boring. Everything is extremely trivialized due to Black Dragon and later Golden Dragon who acts as another lackey to MC. And around chapter 170 you will just stop reading it. You are just waiting for something to happen. But nothing will happen.

MC is constantly saying "It's not my thing." and "I am not interested in this", but in the end he ends up meddling and solving the problem. It's so redundant.

This novel was so good that I decided to make a review. Literally in my top five asian novels.

[If you want to know about the potential flaws, go down to my edit]

At first I was very wary about this, because I was worried that it would end up like 'My death flags show no sign of ending' (I think that's what it's called). I'm not saying that it's a bad novel, but the depression in that novel really didn't suit me. After a couple of chapters though, I came to... more>> realize that it was actually way better than I thought. The MC was smart, capable, and realistic. I've seen so many arragont, nice guy, or even downright cold protagonist that are literally just flat characters. So this was definitely a breath of fresh air.

For those who want to know if the story is right for them, read the first couple of chapters. The story so far carries the same mood. Not that it stays lighthearted or dark, more like the MC is capable of maintaining stability and not overreacting. In fact the MC pretty much never expresses emotions on his face even when his thoughts are hectic.

The side characters are funny and unlike most novels it's pretty hard to forget their names. They all have their own charm and role that instantly helps you to recall who is who. Also the relationship the side characters have with the MC and each other is really good

Spoiler

The conversation between Alberu and Cale really makes you smile. Oh and no one can forget Raon :D

My favorite thing about this novel was the lack of romance or harem, or annoying female characters and s*upid antagonists. The female characters all are cool and powerful, their not damsels in distress. The antagonists are different then usual.

Spoiler

Although most of the antagonists are crazy and bizarre

[collapse]
I'm giving this a 5 star (accidentally pressed 4 and don't know how to reverse :P)

EDIT:

So I ended up putting this novel on hold for some time and eventually dropping it due to losing interest after not having touched it in a while. It wasn't until recently that I've started to take time to reread it, from the beginning. And wow. It was still good.

I definitely noticed flaws and things that broke my suspension of belief, things I didn't notice back when I was blindly racing through the chapters. One of them that is best to keep in mind, this novel is really slow and laid back. It's not drama intensive and focuses more on the relationships between characters good or bad rather than the plot. You could go one hundred chapters before the MC resolves something integral to the plot, but have many new characters introduced, backstories revealed, and traumas resolved. I remember checking how far I've gone only to be shocked that 200 chapters past and 90% was filled with planning and character collecting. It doesn't bother me, but I can see it bothering other people.

Also no romance, or abundance of females. Rather it's a male dominant cast, and most of the MCs relationships are with men. Although every relationship in the novel is platonic, unless they're married. There are a lot of children in this novel, and honestly, the MC is like this dad to everyone. He just gives such 'I raised that kid' vibes whenever someone in his group accomplishes something. There is a huge family theme in this novel, essentially Cale ends up creating a group that are like found family. There are people of all ages and races in this group. And there's such a variety of characters as well. So keep that in mind.

Last thing is that it can be very predictable. Not in the sense that the plot twists don't hit. But the MC is very good at deducting and solving problems and future outcomes, so you and the MC are very well prepared for what is to come. Sure, some things may deviate from the original plan, but nothing significantly goes against the MC's predictions and so by default nothing is really a surprise to him and to you as well.

I've heard a lot of things get better in the last few hundred or so chapters, but I'm not going to tell people to bare through 300+ chapters in order to get to the 'good part'. Personally I really enjoyed this and the only thing that bothers me a little among the three is the pacing. The characters are a joy to read about, and I'm excited for what's to come.

I think I'm happy with four stars. <<less

I can't call this a novel, that would be elevating it too much. No world building, no character design, no backstory, no plot, no consistent powerscaling system. The author just put martial arts, Mana, legacy skills, beast people, mermaids, nobles, some crunchy kingdom structure, dragons, isakai in a big pot and stirred them together. No fighting, no cultivation, no interesting exploring, no slice of life..... I don't see anything worthwhile here. The writing style seems too chopped up for me. The same concept of being reborn in a new world... more>> is done better in every other novel like this i've read - library of heavens path, hssb, hsf. I would rank this in tr*sh tier. Dropped. <<less

This novel has one of the best beginning but becomes so boring later. The main character keeps solving problem and that was it.

no romance in this novel, which is such a shame. The MC just playing around with kids and pets, wtf man.

Drop at chapter 150 so this is not a complain from whom just read a couple of chapters.

It's good. When this novel peaks it peaks. It will give you chills, it will make hit 'next chapter' nonstop. But there are just some gaps and arcs that completely bore me. Hence why I'm dropping it for now, I no longer have any motivation to read it. Like others said, it does get repetitive at times.

It feels like the MC is completely in control, almost omniscient. There has been nothing in the story, this far in, that has ever made me worry for the MC. That being said, it... more>> is unique, and the appeal of the story is more about his leadership and 'strategy' rather than his own powers. Granted, he is collecting his own powers and I assume it will combine into something big in the future but for now it's just him being weak, commanding strong political powers around the continent.

This includes beast tribes, forgotten races, legendary beings, dragons. This is the best appeal of the story, and it is addicted and chill inducing when he brings his allies together.

The MC has his heroic moments but it ends up as cringy. The side characters praise him way too much, anything he does is praised, "as expected of Cale." The story develops relationships that try to induce emotion, but it never really gets me. Now that I think about it, I don't really care for any of the characters. I just see them as the MC's pawns, which they pretty much are, in the disguise of 'friends.' In the end Cale just uses them for his own purposes and it is hard to see a relationship as genuine when they are manipulated by nature. Cale didn't really befriend them by chance, he used his knowledge of the novel to meet them and save them from their respective perilous situation.

I don't really care for any of the characters, or the future of the story, which is not a good sign. In the end I can only be appealed so much by large scale battles where each side just takes turns taking out their 'trump card.' The novel tries to disguise trump cards as some surprising event but it just turns out to be lame and not very exciting. <<less

I really did enjoy this story, but there seems to be too much unnecessary talking and explanations that repeat the same things or do not add to the story in order to pad the story length.

Honestly around chapter 120-150 or so the plot starts to slow down a lot and it takes much longer to get anything done than it previously did.

Just seems like the author decided to add filler in, besides that the story is fun and enjoyable and maybe the filler content wont be as bad if you... more>> can read the story in one go but right now each battle seems to take like 30-50 chapters even tho not much is happening.

All of the characters besides the MC are just there to act like groupies, the author reuses the same exact story pattern and cliches over and over again after the first 100 or so chapters <<less

The novel was entertaining at the beginning but the tropes get rehashed so often that it became stale after a while. Dropped the novel at c120.

Too many misunderstandings and too much tsundere made things too cringey to the point of being unbearable.

I added a point because of Raon. Raon is cute but everybody else, including the MC, is meh.

This novel is extremely satisfying to read. Cale is one of the best MC I have read about and his interactions with the characters around him are what really drive this story. He is calm, calculative, and misunderstood to be someone extremely great and benevolent when all he wants is to live the slacker life. He'd be so much more believable if he really did just that, but the plot has so much in store for him that he has to work for it *sighs with him* His internal dialogues... more>> are golden as well and you can't help but smile at the contrast between those thoughts and the immediate situations around him.

This novel has me smiling at how cute some character interaction scenes are, mainly due to all of the misunderstandings and exaggerations. It also makes the story really funny. As a heavily character-driven novel, this is one of those novels that you can come back to after maybe half a year and you could still remember even the most low-key side character, and even more so the more prominent ones. The author really fleshed out this aspect to the T, and nothing can ever go wrong with a great cast lineup especially with a pretty decently written world setting and conflict that drives them all together. Worth reading and rereading. <<less

Yup, I was reading the raws. Anyhow it is a great story, full of comedy and misunderstandings while keeping the tension intact.

Generally the MC is weak, compared to everyone else in his party and usually solve problems via scheming and elaborate traps.

The most entertaining thing is that this is a story of a reader who reincarnated into one of the minor antagonists and trying to survive-causing him to be unable to view things objectively but through the knowledge of what he knows. Also, it breaks some tropes in the fact... more>> that the dragon appear early on-an OP hatchling with the potential to become the Dragon Lord. LOL and becomes the MC's follewer <<less

Ideally I would've given this novel a 3.5/5 but the voting system isn't adept enough to accomplish.

The story itself is intriguing and catchy enough to keep my attention engaged and the main character has an amiable personality. These points by themselves elevate the novel's rating to 4.5 in my eyes.

However, for me its shortcoming is the near cringy interactions between some characters and the MC. I'll give an example in the spoiler below and you can see whether it's something that you find bearable or not.

Spoiler

So the context behind this passage is that a few chapters ago Cale released this dragon from captivity and instead of trying to possess it, gave it its freedom before nonchalantly leaving. However, the dragon chooses to follow Cale and has some tsundere-esque personality that I find detestable and ill suited.

All further exchanges between the dragon and Cale always include some manner of the dragon commenting on Cale's weakness and how it needs to protect him but its not doing it because he's friends with Cale or anything.

Cale had walked toward the dragon, that was pretending like nothing was going on and instead kept staring up at the sky. Cale just continued to stare at the dragon that was crouched down on the ground. He then stoically asked the dragon, as if he was throwing a rock into a lake.

“You want to come with me?”

“... You are so weak that you need protection. But I do not like humans.”

This is a charming adventure/comedy/fantasy/action/fluff series that is good for some lighthearted reading. The MC is funny and charismatic, and, as some reviewers have said, can even be classified as a tsundere. He says he only wants a peaceful life and wants to be lazy, but he works hard to make a good life and to take care of his people. He says he's heartless and doesn't like certain things, but he still takes care of those in need while pretending he has no feelings for him. Even when he... more>> realizes he's gotten on the path of what he might consider a main character to be, he still continues his actions without looking back.

His companions adore him despite his cold demeanor, and it's really cute to watch. Although there is drama related to the plotline, it's not focused on the MC seeking revenge at all cost or going mad or anything like that.

If you're wanting a fun shounen read full of action, adventure, and cute critters, this is a fun one to check out. <<less

I am really looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

So far I'm really enjoying this story, the main character is fairly entertaining, the plot so far is interesting and seems like it could be leading somewhere even better and the writing/translation is very good.

All in all this is definitely worth giving a try and I really hope it ends as good as it started.

When I first saw the title I rolled my eyes and thought ANOTHER one?! I finally decided to read anyways and I'm very glad I did. So far the MC is surprising complex and there hasn't once been a desire for hard work, restructuring his families lands or business organization, or reinventing steam engines/gunpowder/high heels/flush toilets.

there's also no big personality change from his old world to the new one; the guy is scared of death and hates pain and everything he does is to ensure his safety and protection. There's... more>> no sudden burning desire to get stronger or prove himself to his new family or to work hard. I love how laid back he is and he seems almost diabolically clever at times, though a lot of that so far is due to him having read up to book five of the series. He's manipulative and tsundere. He leaves a lot of things up to the other persons interpretation and he's not the most reliable narrator when talking about himself. i have to give koudos to this story. I usually hate stories with this much political maneuvering and end up skipping chapters due to my eyes glazing over and my attention wandering but that hasn't happened here (yet). The humor and the MC have kept me interested enough to stick with it, even through the politics. I just hope it doesn't degenerate into a romance/ harem later on. <<less

I keep coming back to this book when I can't something to read, just based on the reviews. The issue though, is that no matter how hard I try to get into the book..... I cant.

This book is lacking in all fronts. It is boring and I am not drawn into the scene they are trying to portray. The MC's personality is lacking substance. Everything I've read so far is just boring.. boring... plain... boring. I decided to make this review after about 5 tries in the past year. I... more>> don't think I'll be able to go any further. I don't understand how the rating is soo high and the reviews are good.

It can definitely be a case that I haven't read far enough, but even with reading other BLs with over 1000 chapters, I was already drawn in at this point. <<less
