Guilty pleasure - a light and easy read. It is so satisfying to witness the calm and capable MC unleash their talents in acting and manipulation to dominate and pave way to a successful career!

However, I've detracted stars due to the MLs (yes, plural as this is a harem). I do not find the MLs likeable. They are controlling and dominating. I cannot overlook the problematic nature of the way their relationship with MC began ... more>>
Spoiler

Charles r*ped the MC in the beginning and then they entered a contracted sexual/sugar-baby esque relationship which is a yikes, LTC was disrespectful and had pimped out MC's originally and looked down on them... and third ML is psychopathic

[collapse]

The MC by far outshines the MLs. He can be quite a bit too unemotional at times, but I'd say this can be reasonable given his past experience.

Spoiler

MC had a heart condition in the past life so they had to practise maintaining calmness to avoid exacerbating their condition

[collapse]

Overall

Satisfying to read about the MC slaying the entertainment industry. MC is calm, cool, and clever.

Sadly, I do not buy into the romance which really detracts from the overall enjoyability of the novel.

First of all, the novel ended, but I want to talk about the last side story which was left on a perpetual cliffhanger. Ugh. Tang Feng shoots three mini-films with each guy and Charles' mini-film is the only one left uncomplete. The MTL just stops there ugh. But back to the main course.

The story is about the dark side of the entertainment world, relationships, and the psychological nature of one's emotions, plus a lot of philosophical thoughts. The overall theme of the novel is mature and takes place in a... more>> more realistic world setting instead of an idealized utopia where same-s*x relationships are easily accepted. Sure, there's a lot of gay-oriented characters, almost all of them. However, those are all the shenanigans happening behind the curtains. Hidden away from the limelight is the much cruder side of the entertainment world, where people would take even the most sinful actions if faced with profitable rewards.

I like Tang Feng's character. He's calm and collected, but that doesn't mean he's emotionless, and on the contrary, he's a very emphatic man. Tang Feng is a very simple, yet complex character. Contradicting his placid exterior is an old soul thirsting for affection more than anyone else in the world. In his past life as Fiennes, he suffered from heart disease and was doomed with a brief existence. Nevertheless, the man wasn't discouraged, instead, he wanted to shine. He wanted to shine brighter than anything else, brighter than his dark past, brighter than his unfair destiny. Fiennes' dream was a simple wish, and through an arduous journey, he remained faithful to this dream till the glorious days he'd accomplish it. He wanted to leave many marks of his short life in this world, as many as he could so someday people may still remember a person named Fiennes Tang. But as Tang Feng, his goal had changed again as he grew inside. Now, his sole wish was to prove his worth to no one else but himself, following his dreams, and fulfilling his last regret to find love.

As for the three MLs, in all honesty, I did not like any of them at the beginning. One was a selfish businessman who used only advantages and disadvantages labels to distinguish people. Another one was a prideful playboy, an underworld big-shot and unrestrained beast. And as for the last one, I must admit that I had a lot of prejudice against him, mainly because of the overall bad reputation gained from the other two leads' intel. He was basically described as a pe*verted lunatic, plus, he did behave like a calm and collected psychopath during most of the interactions. To put it simply, he's the more realistic take on the "cold and mysterious aristocrat gentleman" type. (And yes, he's actually a real aristocrat.)

Now let's talk about some side characters, this counts as a spoiler so I will but the spoiler tab.

Spoiler

This a top 10 ranking of the most memorable character, in my opinion, and you're free to contest my choice:

1. Tang Feng: For obvious reasons. And I think I praised him enough in the paragraph above.

2. Albert (3rd ML) : He's the one I had my prejudice against. They described him as a person who gets bored easily and seeks things that can pique his interests. If the other two MLs were books, Charles would be a weird essay written by a chuunin kid, Lu Tianchen would be a book with a few ripped off pages, and last but not least, Albert would be an ancient philosophical Greek text with many uncomprehensible things that somehow makes some sense. Why did I choose an ancient Greek text you may ask? Because for normal bystanders that book would be just utter nonsense if not completely unknown. Unknown. This is my point. Albert's characteristic is "unknown". If Charles and Lu Tianchen are two more manageable love interests, then Albert is a completely unpredictable variable. It is a matter of fact that everyone dreads that sense of loss of control when faced with the unknown. But again, there are always two faces of a coin. And instead of fearing the unknown, Tang Feng slowly unraveled the true nature of the man shrowded behind his prejudicated view. Yes, he indeed was an underworld king, but was he as cruel as the Interpol depicted him in the public eye? Take the yakuza as an example, they may be gangsters, but they aren't uncivilized bastards and have ethical and moral standards.

Albert is an intellectual, a romantic one, but not romantic as in a sense of "loving". Romanticism is the perfect term in my opinion. He often compares Tang Feng and himself as two characters in the Notredam book. His interest sparked from Tang Feng's similarities with Esmeralda: strong, beautiful, charismatic, and full of wits. But later he realized, thanks to Tang Feng, that even his usually apathetic self wasn't so unfeeling when faced with the latter.

I began to like him because after he had accepted those feelings, his character didn't go through any drastic changes. He's still the same no matter what, and what has changed is only my view of him.

3. Dr. Harvey: Summarized, he's Fiennes' personal doctor and ex-lover. The man who had left Fiennes with an insensible text announcing their break up together with his imminent marriage. He was raised in a traditional family and even though he liked Fiennes, his morals went against his love. Through his education, he believed that happiness is having a stable job, a wife, and some cute children. Anything else that was badly looked upon by society wasn't a viable choice for Harvey. Although having a family, he still held a selfish desire for the man and wished for him not to love anyone else. But not long after, the tragic news of the famous actor's death would welcome the world.

First of all, I don't blame him for making such a choice because it was society's prejudice against these kinds of relationships that made him shy away. As a man living in a strongly traditional family, he was forced to choose between his entire family and maybe even his career, or Fiennes. But I do hate him for his cowardice of loving Fiennes even after his decision. And also for his close-minded morals.

Later in the story, we do find out Harvey's perspective. His overwhelming guilt and the sincerity of his confusion made him more relatable to me. I pitied him and all his useless "what ifs". He's the culprit but at the same time also the victim. That's just the vicious cycle of society's morality of what's just and what's wrong.

But most importantly, Fiennes- no, Tang Feng decided to forgive him, so who am I to still hold a grudge against someone who's already been tormented enough.

4. Ge Chen: He's initially depicted as the original Tang Feng's old rival. They both gained fame as idols and often confronted each other because of Lu Tianchen. Ge Chen is the usual third-rate villain, the usual white lotus used as a pawn. So why do you ask me, why did you put a bad guy on your list? Well, simple. He grew up and learned from his mistakes. Ge Chen wasn't a villain, yes, bad but not evil. He was naive, a disposable pawn that was discarded after the usage. He faced the retribution of his past arrogance and grew up as a person. He did indeed loved president Su, but after being discarded in the cold palace to face the harsh winds with no one by his sides, Ge Chen gritted his teeth and decided to overcome this tribulation. He humbled down, he accepted his flaws and was willing to change. He won't love anybody but himself now.

5. Little Annie: Albert's daughter. Why she's in the list? Well, she's cute and deserves more credits for being the behind the scenes matchmaker for his father and Tang Feng.

6. Little Devil: Professional killer working under Lu Tianchen. He held a strong prejudice against Tang Feng and didn't deem the latter worthy of his boss' affection. Later, he starts to value Tang Feng's opinions even more than Lu Tianchen's orders. Overall, who doesn't love a cute tsundere?

7. Micheal Gino: He's an actor who realized his love for Fiennes when it was too late. Thanks to Tang Feng, he later wakes up from his delusion. But because of various reasons, he ended up pursuing the latter in the end. However, he clearly couldn't match against those three underworld big-shots. Heck, Albert even tried to sell him as a s*ave in a private auction! Although he only wanted to teach a lesson to the insolent man because of a past incident during a set. Also, Tang Feng pleaded for his life, so he had insurance.

It's not easy to give up on something and still be strong enough not to sever the relationship. If they can't become lovers, being good friends was good enough for him. I was proud of him, so he's on the list because I pitied this poor man who fell in love with something unattainable.

8. The little reporter Li: I only thought him as a normal little goofy character and the idea of him being an existence even more dangerous than Little Devil had never crossed my mind. This was so shook. SHOOK. He works for Albert and he's tasked to protect Tang Feng while undercover. And he's also interested in president Su (?). I didn't completely understand what happened. But yeah, he's here because of the shook factor.

9. Lu Tianchen (2st ML) : Honestly, I don't dislike him, but he often hides things because he doesn't want to put Tang Feng in danger. He did indeed gave a scare during the "son vs father" arc. He's the only character who knows about Tang Feng's secret. He was initially against Tang Feng idea of a polygamous relationship ('cause Tang Feng knew that neither of them would have taken things down easily if he chooses one), but after understanding Fiennes' past and realizing Tang Feng's need of love, he yields and accepts.

10. Charles (1st ML) : Sorry sweetheart for putting you at the last place, but you aren't exactly my type so I didn't know where to put you. Charles is definitely a strong character, strong and overflowing with confidence but shameless to the bone. He had a lot of past lovers, even an Interpol officer even though he deals with the underworld. My God, he's truly fearless. He's an overly affectionate bear whose neediness can be only quenched by Tang Feng. (I love his mother btw, she's a cool woman too but I couldn't put her in the list because she has too few screentime.)

[collapse]

Now let's talk about the ending chapter and the meaning behind it, still only in my opinion.

Spoiler

7 years have passed and Tang Feng enjoyed the life of a superstar with three boyfriends. (Yep, they also accepted Albert.) The protagonist of this last mini-arc is Qian Ning, a young cadet who's being tasked to ask Tang Feng to aid them in the rescue of a person in Albert's hands. Tang Feng refuses to help them and asked him instead: "why should he as a civilian, risk his life for their job?"

After that, all the three MLs seem to appear in Tang Feng's house when Qian Ning was still there.

The parallelism of this last arc is between Tang Feng's initial prejudice, which was similar to Qian Ning's innocent black and white perspective, and his final verdict to vow his love to all three of them after gaining a deeper understanding. This put a stark contrast between the two different perspectives. It was a simple "before and after". Simple, but very tasteful.

[collapse]

And overall, this is definitely a novel I would love and keep forever in my library. <<less

logic? Logic my ass, The story doesn't go with the title, really.

Not my cup of tea. MC is levelheaded and has an admirable personalit, I like him except for the fact that he disregards his body and is extremely nonchalant about his body being violated, I hate the fact that he sells his body to climb up to stardom.

I like MC at the same time I don't, this is realistic at the same time it's not. Harem memebers are just hateful and shallow af

If ur looking of good arem BL story... then I recommend this one.... however if you prefer fluff, then don't even think of reading this!

I truly lobe the plot, too complicated, but laid out in a pure sensical way. Especially the MC, I really love him. The way he handle situations in a nonchalant way but never letting anyone get the upper hand. This a yaoi harem... so the MC have a really complicated relationship. The MC is logical and very practical. Definitely not an idiot and a pushover like... more>> how transmigrated MC's are. The only downside here is the lack of decent ML. Yes. Not a single one is decent. Charles is a sly fox, Lu Tian Chen have downgraded his impression on me (too cunning, heck he even traded Tang feng!!!), Albert is definitely not the ML (he's freeing scary and f*ck up) while Gino is too silly.... <<less

I'd describe it as a conflicting romance story one with the world of acting as a minor background.

Looking for a story where monogamous s*x is important and reserved for the "one?" Do you think it's tawdry to have multiple partners? Are you strongly conservative about s*x and people interactions?

Then this story is NOT for you.

This story portrays s*x as s*x. It can be a fun romp, or an act of comfort and expression. Sometimes it can be a bargaining tool as well. If this offends your sensibilities, then you should not... more>> read this.

For everyone else, overall it's a decent story. I kept putting it off because it seemed rather lame, but now that I've started, I intend to read to the end. I'm not normally one for harem stories because they're normally really shallow and MC is almost always too OP for my liking, but this was really enjoyable. I was never into this shipping business before, but I totally get it now. I really want all of them to just be one big family. Honestly it was the multiple POVs that made it work so well. It managed to make the story so much more poignant and made me enjoy something I had expected to dislike. Because of this I gradually came to like all of them, even the ones I disliked in the beginning.

MC is relatable in that he looks at the world in practical terms and is pretty forward and actively pursues what he wants. Some people may think agreeing to be pimped out is a sign of passiveness, but I would disagree. Once he got a grip on the situation he immediately bargained to change some of the terms so as to be more to his own advantage. I would say that that's confident and aggressive. He went with the flow when needed and overall was emotionally balanced.

It's easy to read and rarely sloggy. Read it for the romance, the relationships, and character development but not so much for the acting or the plot. The plot is... eh. Sub par. The acting is minimal, which is good if you, like me, find investing in the story within the story to be too much.

I would recommend this if you are looking for multidimensional characters and relationship building. Read this if you like Kill the Lights, Friends with Benefits, Ti Shen, or Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai. <<less

The romance is good. It's complex and if this wasn't a harem (I still don't know how it's going to end like that), I would be sooo confused trying to pick out the ML/best ship. I think I have one that I prefer though, even though one of the dudes grew on me.

MC is OP in acting (as much as you can be OP in acting realistically), but not perfect even though he acts that way most of the time. I like him as a MC. He's interesting.

Side characters are... more>> decent. The MLs are entertaining, although they might be similar in some ways.

There might not be many hype scenes (there are some), but the novel is filled with small details that me really happy/hyped up. <<less

It's one of the best BL books I have read so far and I have read a LOT. Character development is perfect, you really can see the development of all the important characters in the story. It's like seeing a person grow from this to the other, worthy of being praised off. The plot also is very well written. I never expected that I'll get addicted to a story that is in the slow burn spectrum. Being the impatient person that I am, I thought I'll be like "nah" by... more>> the chapter 50 and there's still no love from the MC to the his future partner, but heck! It's like seeing for the first time how unimportant it is for the MC to have a love interest when the most important thing is that the MC is an independent man that DOES NOT NEED ANY MAN TO SURVIVE.

Aside from that, I want to give kudos to the flawless main character. If you are familiar with the Captive Prince series by C. S. Pacat, you'll see how almost similar the Laurent is to Tang in terms of character - both cool, intelligent, charming, independent, and level headed but at the same time they are both weak on things that matter like Love (lol). Feng is like the modern version of Laurent so it got me so hooked.

Another, a page turner. I could count in only one hand the number of BL books that made me binge read it in just one night. And majority of it were western novels. This is the only book aside from Chai Jidan's Advance Bravely, Counterattack, and Addicted novels that made me lost sleep just because I cannot stop myself from wanting to read the next page. Every chapter is filled with interesting content and there might be cliffhangers but it is something that instead of making you angry because of the sudden cut, it'll make you anticipate what will happen next.

Lastlty, it's just good like really good. It's one of those books that mistakes are rarely seen. There might be some holes here and there but the beauty of the story makes up for everything. You would feel emotions that you thought you'll never feel before so you need to thank the author for one heck of a roller coaster ride this book will give you.

I've been following this translation for quite some time now, and honestly, the only bad part of this story is the long wait between few chapters. Seriously, we're at chapter 125 out of over 342 and we get maybe 1-3 chapters on the 1st and 15th of every month (maybe). I reread all the translated chapters sometimes just to get my fill of it.

Slow updates aside, the story is great. It starts off with an older and world renowned actor passing away and waking up in the body of a... more>> young fading starlet in the hospital. Grateful to even be alive, he continues to live as Tang Feng, and using his supreme acting abilities, turns the life of the previous Tang Feng around. His is level headed to the extreme and very logical. He never gets too emotional and has a dearth of experience so he can faces challenges with ease. The only thing stopping him from being an instant success is basically the reputation of the body's previous owner.

There's Charles, his billionaire one month contract lover, Lu Tian Chen, his cold employer, and Albert, a dangerous crime boss with an eye for beauty. These 3 men make up Tang Feng's harem, though there are countless others who love, respect, or idolize Tang Feng as well. <<less

i absolutely love this novel. Even disregarding the fact that it is the best yaoi i've ever read, the novel itself is super good. I love the Mc's calm and mature personality and the other characters are also awesome. The plots are not so forced like any other novels like IRAS, but yet went smoothly. Definitely a good read. For those who are not into yaoi or boys' love, this novel still can be enjoyed.

Tonnes of reviews expressing why this novel is absolutely one of the best written and most enjoyable out there. I can add just a few comments.

I can tell you that the MC makes you feel like you should be a calmer, warmer, more intelligent and witty person. His manner of overcoming obstacles pleases at every turn. Also who doesnt like (phony) insight into the world of the rich amd famous.

I'm not a fan of BL, but I do like it generally. Synopsis and comments made me start this. It looked great but...

Spoiler

chapter 6 and the MC's already been drugged and r*ped. He woke up next to his aggressor and he does nothing you would expect a sane person to do. He does not get the hell out of there, he does not try to call the police or antything. Hell, he is at most slightly awkward and embarrassed.

Apparently, the previous owner of the body has some sort of shitty contract (written? verbal ? no idea. Nothing legal anyway) with the r*per. The contract just states that he has to live with him.

So he goes all: "Oh a contract? I see. It doesn't look too good. Can we cancel it?" "No don't wanna, but I'm okay to change it to something slightly less shitty but where I got to keep raping you." "Okay, sure". Seriously? SERIOUSLY???

Exactly how low must his IQ and self-esteem be to be okay with something like that?? Or are really that desperate?? Are sure, absolutely sure there isn't a better alternative ?

RAAaah I'm so upset!

No, staying with your rapist is NOT a good idea. No, agreeing to let him keep raping you is NOT okay. Even if he's super powerfull and you feel like you can't call the police, at the very least, GET the HELL out of there!

That guy is just totally okay with letting other ab*se him. At least, be upset about it! I'm just reading the story and I'm more upset about it than him!!

It's just such a incredibly unfair, immoral, illegal, depraving situation and... it's like he finds it perfectly normal. He doesn't even resent his r*per...

[collapse]

I'm not sure if my poor nerves will allow me to keep reading it till the end. It's just the exact sort of situation that ticks me off and makes me want to pick up a hammer and go bashing a few character's heads. <<less

I like a lot MC's personality and his confidance. The novel was very interesting at the beginning, but towards the end it becomes more boring and MC's personality is not so well written anymore... And is indeed true the fact that the ML's fall in love with MC out of nowhere. !!! BUT despite the title, the novel is not about acting so if you come for this then don't read it. He was an accomplished actor in his past life and only on his hard work not sponsors. But... more>> in his new life the main plot is the relationship between ML's and him, the acting is subplot and he also doesn't work hard to get the roles because ML sponsors him.

Charles is the only one that make sense in my opinion. He is also clingy for MC and like a bear. And he really loves MC a lot and it shows.

Lu Tian Chen disliked the original soul of MC body and I think he loved MC too quickly and from very little things, he wasn't even given much reason to believe that MC had changed before he fell in love. But what I like about their relationship is the fact that after they got to know each other better, Lu Tian Chen realized that MC is another soul and he also knows who he was before the reincarnation. He is also the only one of the 3 ml's who knows who MC truly is.

Albert is the most random. He also comes at the half way to the end of the novel. It would had been better if he wasn't at all in the novel. His daughter has more screen time than him. I understand why he liked the MC so fast. But I don't understand why he is obsessed with MC and only wants to be with MC from now on.

it makes sense why they are in a relationship, because MC is for sure their type, I'm just upset that Albert and Tian Chen fell in love too quickly when they didn't see much of MC's personality. Tian Chen at least saw further in the novel, but Albert continued to know a little about MC until the end...

(because I don't care that the ML's are horrible people for society, as long as they don't ab*se MC I'm ok with it. After all is a fictional story not reality.) <<less

Whew, a really good read.

I find that although the MC having rebirth cheat, but his path to be a successful actor are not easy.

I admit I get triggered so many times with all those people that keep blocking MC path, but at the same time I can easily stay calm because how the MC state his opinion.

... more>> The MC is not really OP, there is struggle but his character is really someone that make you want to dote on adn respect.

Although I'm not really into harem, but I think in this story it seems applicable (?). I mean all the MLs are not character that worth to be loyal to. I mean they have been having those and that around them before they met the MC. So for MC to not chose to loyal to just one ML is okay. They cant really be aggrieved or so.

For the MC, when he is Feinnes (?), that alone we can see how he need that "love". He has experience death and heart broken with someone he thought he could spend together when he die. So for him to fall in love with all those MLs, I dont think there is anything wrong with that. To understand what I mean, give it a try to read /hehe/

To be honest, I can't stand polygamy really, but that depend how it was describe too. The MC and MLs relationship, the way author potray it is acceptable at least.🤔😅

Of course there is a lot of negative parts.

Like how disturbing this and that certain events, but anyway its not like you really have to accept it if its in real life situation so...

If you in need of long story and not too dogblood, give this a chance. You can even MTL it, since its not bad. (you aint gonna get headache!)

Just that Dong and Tang, haha <<less

If you enjoy superlatives and exaggerations, this is the one for you! Not to my liking.. I had a lot of bones to pick with this novel! Dropped.
