Enjoyed the novel for most part. I liked the authors writing style and the overall plot. I did skip a few paragraphs in few end chapters but the story was good. Liked the characters. MC wasnt a weak damsel in distress even tho he was an omega and he was likable. I liked the ML and his humorous pick up lines. I wish there was more focus on their relationship and the author went deeper into flashbacks related to their past encounters.

What annoyed me was how forgiving and understanding they... more>> were towards the people who betrayed them. I found that part of the story a bit cringe..

Either way, it was an amusing and entertaining read. <<less

What a great novel!! I have so many thoughts, but at the same time, the feeling I have after reading is just pure satisfaction. The plot was perfectly paced and I never got bored, finishing the whole novel in a single sitting. It's a little cliche at times, but not in an annoying way.

A very character driven novel, we have a cold MC and a playful (shameless) ML, as well as a backdrop of hilarious side characters and multi-dimensional villains. The romance between the two leads is very well developed,... more>> and they have amazing chemistry with each other. Near death scenarios in zombie apocalypses really do bring out the romance lol

I really don't have too much to say- it's just a perfect blend of action, comedy, romance, and drama. There's moments of suffering mixed with literal laugh out loud comedy. No heart wrenching pain or tears on my part, but the emotional moments of the novel were very poignant.

The translation is 100% worth supporting the author to unlock! My only complaint with this novel is the lack of extras- I loved the characters so much that it was hard reaching the ending and not having more. <<less

I finally finished reading the Undead, and all I can say is amazing. I'm speechless; seriously, this novel is now one of my favorites. My purchase was worth it; as expected of Huai Shang, all her novels are top-notch. I'm planning to read her other work next, which is "Breaking through the Clouds.". But enough with that, let me just share my feelings about this novel.

What I love about the novel are the characters. Each of them has their own characteristics that are unique to them. I haven't encountered any... more>> bland characters; each one has their own story to tell that makes you curious and intrigued about their own backstory.

The gong and the shou's interaction made me laugh and cry at the same time; those affectionate words that would suddenly pop up at the moment you least expected; for example, there was a scene where they're in a dire situation and the main CP still has the audacity to flirt like, D*mn, how are you so confident even in that situation? —Ehem, excuse the foul language; I got carried away. Anyways, for those who are hesitating to read this novel, HESITATE NO MORE! It's worth it, I promise! <<less

I freakin love this book!!!! I can't express enough how much joy, sadness, and thrill this story has brought me.

The PLOT, the CHARACTERS, the WHOLE story itself are freakin amazing it's so engaging that I finished it on one day. I know, not an amazing feat, but u know what I mean. IT'S JUST THAT GOOD!!!

Both MC and ML are very powerful but not the omnipotent type. They get injured and struggle most of the time. STILL PRETTY STONG THO (◕‿◕)

I also like their chemistry lol that tension at... more>> the beginning is freakin fun to read. Another thing I like is the relationship between the whole team 118, their banter are just so funny and hilarious most of the time that I just can't get help being attached to them. 〒▽〒

There are also no unnecessary character's here, each and every one of them has their role to play.

There are mysteries in the stories that just make you wonder, and the way the author laid out all the answers to all the mystery just makes it more engaging.

I'm just kind of writing this review so I can remember to finish reading this once it's complete. 5 stars so far though! Love everything about this except for the fact that it isn't finished yet.

edit: after 4 years I've finally decided to come back and finish this... holy sh*t I love it so much.

... more>> I love my wuxia/xianxia novels BUT sometikes the political intrigue is so complex and confusing that reading them takes all of my brain energy.

Undead however, though it has a relatively deep story, it was easy to read and action packed enough that I rarely got bored.

okay I'm busy so I'll just make my points quicks:

SIDE CHARACTERS - found family yay!!! Not necessarily complex or deep individuals but they were all fun and loveable. Many of the enemies our group encounter are not black or white and feel quite human.

MAIN COUPLE - holy shit??? Si Nan and Zhou Rong are sO fun to read about. Definitely a power couple, though they dont give off "insanely OP" which is nice. Their romance is a slow burn, and they ultimately get together around the halfway point of the story, and then proceed to just act cool and do the cutest sh*t the other 50% of the story. They are SO in love with each other your honor <33

STORY - I saw some reviews say that they felt the story slowed down/was worse in the last half of the story but I personally feel the opposite. I got bored around the 30% mark and took a few months break from reading this. I came back to it and was HOOOOOOOKED for the rest of the story. Non stop action fr, and Si Nan is so fun to follow along that the action never slowed for me. The plot itself however is pretty standard for a zombie novel, lots of military action and surviving as large groups. Dont expect anything crazy unique, but damn was it entertaining.

overall, 5 stars

Si Nan at the beginning of the story is soo cold and close-offed, but as he starts to really connect with the core group in the story, team 118, he starts to really bloom. Every time he talked about protecting his teammates, every time he did something silly with Zhao Rong, EVERY TIME HE OPENLY LAUGHED!!! Babygirl!!!!!!!

Thank GOD Si Nan apologized to Yan Hao, I was so scared the book would kinda just ignore the things Si Nan said to him, but thankfully it acknowledge how awful Si Nan felt.

Pros :

Strong actually an omega MC x military guy ML. MC got amnesia and the story starts with him waking up from a coma at a being ambushed building. The military was evacuating, MC didn't agree, kicked some ass, fought some zombies, ran away and met ML.

I remember reading this waiting for them to be together. The progress of the relationship is slow, I think it was at the middle to the end when they marked eachother. But it was nice knowing how respectful ML is towards MC.

Tbh after I read this, my only feeling is that it has more praises than it deserves (IMO)

maybe I'm just not a fan of such a boring type of apocalypse setting-realistic yes, but boring. I think the world-building was a bit poor and the backstory could have improvements. About the characters being so 3D... personally, I didn't feel it to that extent...I however really liked the ML, he was a breath of fresh air truly as for the MC he undoubtedly was very powerful as he could compare to... more>> all the alpha's and was even better in fact! but it did disappoint me that he seemed to have a really notorious reputation but we never really saw that 'antisocial' nor psychopathic personality he was said to have although his schizophrenia was shown... so yup!

IDK for me rating this more than a 3.5 is the best I'd expect anyone to give it... the romance is good though I admit that, but I feel he accepts people too quickly, especially for a lone wolf kind of character.

it's a so-so read for me. nothing memorable nor particularly exciting. I wasn't even touched by the camaraderie among the small group...

maybe doesn't suit my tastes but yall should give it a try since there are so many positive reviews and 5-star ratings.

edit; right the ABO setting seems to be there to just make this stand out a bit more really... it's truly useless imo, I mean I think the author just added it to make the MC a more special kinda omega-to highlight how much more awesome he is but yeah.... <<less

I love stories with apocalyptical setting and I also like ABO pretty much but it's actually very hard to find a good BL novel with that kind of setting where there's also a power couple without discrimination even though it's ABO and this one IS a good one. I tried reading ahead on mtl but the quality just doesn't compare to the translation so I decided to wait... it was a hard decision but since I finally found such a good novel I want to enjoy it to the fullest.... more>> I sincerely hope the translator won't drop this and continue translating regularly. The anticipation really is killing me. <<less

not going to write a long review but basically:

what a good combination of ABO x Apocalypse!!!! So good so funny so sweet so sad and despite all the dog food and comedic moments there’s a sort of melancholy air looming over the entire story and it’s so well written and well paced that I cannot believe that this journey was only 85 chapters (felt way longer in a GOOD way; the author is GOOD).

This is one of the best and well written zombie novels I have read in a long while. I’ve always loved apocalypse type novels, but it’s usually done blandly or filled with R*pe and backstabbing reversals.

This one had a more clear plot and it was executed extremely well, even the translation was superb.

One con I had was about the abo aspect. While I don’t necessarily hate abo, I do wish it be done well and not just a a vehicle for weird fetishes.

Anyway, this was done very nicely, but at... more>> times the abo terms would end up lacking only to suddenly be present when the ML and MC were back in view. I wished if they wanted to drive home the whole omega being a sick ass combatant then they should have followed through with showing more omegas and how they usually act maybe even a scene at the end that shows the one other omega in the novel realizing that MC was an omega and finally becoming aware that he could have his own voice and say in life. It could have also opened up a whole new path for other omegas in the new world after everything was cleared up. It was honestly a missed opportunity to tie in how everyone saw omegas and how MC thought himself as an omega and omegas in general should be.

anyway, I really loved this. It’s a gem and I’m so glad I found it. 4.5 <<less

Unfortunately, I found the chapters to be long, draggy & action oriented. It totally s**ked away all my excitement.

So I just read the spoilers & consider it finished.

The start is very confusing to read but this doesn't seem to be intentional by the author to give a feeling of chaos to the apocalypse and rebirth.

Fails in the initial introduction of setting and characters, but does better in establishing them later on.

OMG!! The frustration... The frustration is REAL!! MC & ML just can't get a break. It's like MC have this unlucky buff that affect all the team member or something. Gosh!! Poor MC, he's been unlucky all his life, it's good that he meet ML who won't give up no matter what. Anyone with 2nd ML syndrome, I understand, the 2nd ML of this story is so good, I'm sure lots of reader suffer from 2nd ML syndrome. Practically every chapter is laden with danger & potential heartbreak, even reader... more>> would get tense anticipating the next things that would go wrong while hoping for the best for MC, ML & their team. While there's a lot of tense moments, there's also lots of funny moments, you can't help but love all the team member. <<less

Enjoyable. I liked the feel of the novel. Although the characters take the situations seriously, they still try to not let things pull down their moods. Such as MC, Si Nan, has an admirer who is blatantly in love with MC. ML is still kind to the admirer and isn't offended by the admirer's actions.

My favorite parts contain MC's toughness. I have a preference for strong shous and MC is tougher than most gongs. 💪

The story has lots of action and a happy ending.

The ML isn't obvious at first and I tagged the wrong person. Zhou Rong is the ML. At the start of the novel, MC wakes up with amnesia and had to escape from a zombie horde. He later helps ML and his team and they end up traveling together.

ML and his team were suppose to find someone but the mission failed cause they thought the person was dead. It turned out that MC was the person. MC had escaped from a lab with a suitcase containing important material for development of a vaccine for the zombie virus. MC had wanted to hand over the material to ML's government cause he believed that they would not monopolize the vaccine once it was developed. However, MC had lost the suitcase when zombies appeared in the plane he was in.

Also, MC is the first survivor of the zombie virus. His mother had worked on developing the zombie virus in order to bring MC's dad back to life. However, she realized her mistake later and also worked on vaccine development. However, she had died and MC's power hungry stepbrother tried to use the research to gain power.

In the end, a vaccine was developed using the found research and MC's blood.

All in all, my rating is 4.9/5⭐️ YES I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS STORY!!! The ABO isn't that overwhelming the storyline, so don't worry. <<less

This is, 100%, one of the best novels I’ve read. There’s everything in it: a power couple, made of two unbelievable strong soldiers who were destined to be together; an amazing friendship bond between the squad members that made shed some tears; an infuriating villain and an unsettling world setting. There’s a lot of mysteries and plot twists too; and even though some of them were predictable, I found the whole plot and the way the little mysteries completed each other very well written. The a/b/o setting has a big... more>> impact in the story, but not in the conventional way. There’s still some of the traditional a/b/o tropes, but they are nicely done, and MC is a total out of the ordinary omega character, which makes everything even more interesting. I definitely recommend this novel for everyone who likes fast paced, action novels with a lot of flirting and romantic tension between the main characters! <<less

A Wonderfully writen novel.

Would have liked more if it had extras, their happily ever after life, their children as well.

Loved the ML and MC, they were so good together, Great chemistry.

Great romance, great action, great gore, great plotline, great character development. So....

Overall a wonderful story.

Go ahead and read it if it's ur type, will not regret it I swear, as the plot is quite engaging.

Thanks alot to the author as well as the translators for bringing us this great gem of a story.

I liked the MC’s personality a lot and the ML’s too. This isn’t the typical “cold” ML and it wasn’t the typical “love at first sight”.

I like how there was this other guy that liked MC but we clearly know that MC and ML are meant for each other! It’s just such a cute moment when they fight like kids for MC 😂 Though I wasn’t comfortable when the MC and other soldiers where talking about omegas as someone who doesn’t get to decide stuff for themselves and such, I get that they’re alphas and all and they didn’t know MC was an omega and the ML had a bad experience with an omega before but I was just not comfortable reading that scene good thing the MC poured bullets and placed a box at ML’s head for that haha

This work is interesting and simple, but that's what makes it good. What pleased me was the characters, all with their own charisma, the plot is interesting, although clichés were used, but it was done correctly. Moreover, the story of ABO is very pleasing because honestly, it was one of the first novels where I saw it)) The story does not directly revolve around ABO, but it is a great addition. In general, for a good, interesting but somewhat simple story, I would put 4.5 out of 5

ML - Xhou Rong x MC - Si Nan I am a fan of zombie stories and if you are too you kind of know what to expect. The author is talented, has a flair for action and adventure, provides context while pushing the reader to explore the human condition. Overall this is a good zombie/apocalyptic read that effectively blends comedy, drama and romance.
