I have really mixed reviews on this one. Initially, the MC is clever, morally gray but not enough that anyone dies from his tricks unless they target him first.

The unfortunate part is that he's portrayed as dazzling and smart, capable of turning the tides for victory but in reality I feel like every side character is just kinda dumb. They exist to make the MC look good but realistically I don't think every character would have the sheep-herd mentality of falling for these tricks.

The thing that irritates me the most... more>> is that the MC is supposed to be reasonable smart (I'll brush aside the fact that every side character is naive and dumb compared to MC) but MC doesn't make reasonable choices when it comes to ML.

which doesn't make sense to me. No idea how MC suddenly gained that kind of confidence. And stereotypically, the ML gains more interest in MC trying to kill him. I'm sure everyone has seen this kind of plot before.

The ML is another problem. He's possessive and a yandere but that's all he is! If you've seen one yandere you've seen them all. He's so stereotypical.

Sometimes I feel like the MC and ML act a certain way to each other just because the author wants an enemies-to-lovers dynamic. It just feels a little forced because the character settings and logic doesn't always follow through.

Apart from those major issues that annoy the hell out of me, the story is fairly good; the instances are easy to understand and (at least the initial) instances/story arcs were really good. I just find it a shame that it gets kind of repetitive and generic after the beginning. <<less

This is one of my favorite novels. I love the MC and ML. My only complaint is the romance is slooooooowww. But I like the MC so much that I still enjoy reading the novel in between the main couple's interactions. Plus, the horror instances are really well done. The descriptions are well written and you can really imagine the scenes. I liked the novel so much, I'm reading it from the official site (machine translated unfortunately). The ML is super sexy. And MC is great as a conman. One of the few problems I have is the lack of human emotions with the ML. It seems to make the romance between the two have difficulty getting off the ground. It seems like the romance is finally starting to get somewhere now that I'm at chapter 388 (sigh). However, I get the feeling that this story could last for another 150-200 chapters easy. I'd rather an in depth story than something that feels rushed at the end. Especially after all the previous buildup with story building. Might as well make it count.

There are some sexy scenes, but due to original content being on jjwxc, there is censoring. You get the idea without the detail. So if you are looking for a smut filled book, this isn't for you. But there is definitely more going on than just hand holding or kissing, if you know what I mean.....

Plus, there is an interesting supporting cast and good world building, which is great. I'm excited to see how it all plays out in the end.

probably my favorite horror unlimited flow novel! I've only read up to part of the fifth instance but all of them have been really intriguing and engaging thus far; my favorite being the fourth instance which is the amusement park. The psychological thriller was STRONG in that one, it genuinely made me horrified and repulsed ... more>>

contamination is a popular trope in many other horror unlimited flow series but this one really unsettled me, , , the feeling of otherness perpetuated by the npcs was so pervasive and wrong. Never looking at frogs the same again omg.

I think that the horror aspect of this novel is why I enjoy it sm, it's really well done :)

as for the MC, I really love wen jianyan. Although he has a really incredible ability to scam people and trick both players and npcs alike, it doesnt feel like he's breezing through the instance. He has to work for his survival, and I really like how the author depicts his struggles and advancements as he gets missions. In some of the other novels I read, I felt like the MC was conveniently given the answer or magically had all the right skills to finish this instance, but for wen jianyan I always felt that he genuinely had to work for it and use all of the skills+items he has at his disposal to the fullest. He's kind of a dumperfire in the sense that you think he's gonna implode but you keep watching anyways lol. The ways he decides to complete the instance can be incredibly out of the box and insane, but it always works out and I find myself super invested

also note that the romance is really nonexistent at this point of the translation. If you're looking for something more romance heavy, I might put this one on the back burner and look for something else. Right now, I see the dynamic between the ML and MC as

predator and prey. ML is an npc that acts as a god within the instances, and the ML has a couple very close run ins with him. As of chapter 151, id say they're like an omniscient deity and the fun new toy he's discovered and is trying to obtain.

Really good so far, I'm surprised I haven't gotten bored yet. I normally get bored if an arc ends up being longer than 20 chapters, I guess it just goes to show how engaging this novel is.

I'm going to wait for all the chapters in this arc to be translated before reading so I don't get stuck on a cliffhanger or forget what happened previously (that tends to happen a lot for me) :')

Very funny, interesting and cool premise-- you also will really like the MC.

The slow introduction to the ML and the development is honestly hilarious -- even aside from the honestly spooky scenes as written, I haven't personally been able to guess the end plot of each instance which is rare, and you really can't tell how things are going to twist in each interaction.

I have been keeping up with this as it has updated since about 130ish and have reread it in the meantime and enjoyed it again.

Can honestly say... more>> this is one of my favourites ♥️♥️

I absolutely love this novel! I'm not a fan of gore or scary thriller, per se, but this had me hooked since day 1. I love the MC, I love everything about him. And the ML, just wow. The tension will make you read it continuously and the chemistry of the MC and ML, I just love it. I'm excitedly waiting for the translation. MC is a bit villainous/ morally grey, character is a clever conman who tricks his way to survive through various infinite flow horror worlds, romance is not the focus in this story and is VERY SLOW but this isn't really a romance so that's okay
