The main couple can be tehnically considered bestiality, since QQ is a human soul in an animal body having s*xual relations with an animal. The first arc at least can also be considered sort of pe*ophilia, since Alexander and Odis get together while Alexander is still 2 years away from being sexually mature himself.

More generally, author also likes to quote animal facts that make me think, "I don't know enough about animals but I'm pretty sure that's not right". It can take you out of the moment, especially when the scene involves actual scientists and researchers.

The first arc is adorable and precious, and I loved reading their day to day life as Alexander grew up. The author, despite writing fluff, also reminds the readers about real world problems that actually need consideration, like the arctic and global warming situation affecting polar bears. It feels vaguely like an infomercial on global warming specifically targetted to fluffy animal transmigration BL readers sponsored by the CN government. It gets a little rushed when the arc is about to end, but I might just feel that way because I was really looking forward to each year being described even if it's just repetitive stuff, because Alexander and Odis are just too cute. The ending is a bittersweet HE, so it's good that it immediately moves on to the next arc and doesn't give me enough time to be too sad.

I really like the 2nd arc because it builds up on things set up in the first arc rather than a complete reset. QQ still has no genetic memories or instincts, but he has hunting, survival and cleanliness habits built up from 25 or so years as a polar bear; and his adopting of the 5 cubs is actually foreshadowed by his desire for a cub in the previous life. The narration is somewhat more annoying to me this time with how obsessed the humans seem to be over QQ/the animals. I used to follow documentary serieses about animal families, and there's no way there's that many people invested in watching 20-30 years worth of documentaries on a single lion family. And, I'm not sure if it's just an MTL issue, but I can't get over a lion called "brother Eminem".

It's a little more disappointing when Odis gets his memories back. I thought the role switch between them with little Dough (MTL so might be wrong) acting as the adult baby to the responsible Alexander was adorable, but the others still sometimes act like his babies. The ending is even more bittersweet- endings where one party is waiting for the other to wake up but they've already passed on always makes me cry like a baby. I'm at least glad that the 6 lions got to spend their last few days together, just like the beginning. It's both painful and relieving to think that this is their life, dying but meeting again in the next life.
