As if it wasn’t enough for me to be reincarnated as a child in the slums, I was taken to a city of crime and became a test subject.

But then, when I saw the man that came to destroy the research institute, I realized that this was the world of an angst-filled reverse harem novel.

While living a relatively normal life after escaping from the institute, the heroine of the novel moved in next door.

From the looks of it, I might be the heroine’s neighbor extra.

Originally, the heroine was to save the unconscious and fatally wounded villain and in return, be subject to a fanatical obsession.

But, why. Why is the sub-villain collapsed in front of my house?

The sub-villain, Lakis Avalon, was the king of the underworld and the very same frightening man that I had met at the institute before.

The novel is great. The characters were interesting and I really enjoyed the journey. But the ending left me really unsatisfied. The main plot was completed but many subplots that were opened were left unsolved.

There were so many mysterious things like the bug, origin of ruin fragments, MC's transmigration (although I never expected it to be solved in the first place) and I thought they would be explained in the extras but the author instead wasted them on miscellaneous things. Heck, even Yuri's identity as a mutant was not revealed to the main characters of the book. We didn't even get to see Lakis' proposal!

Yuri literally has the vibes of 'The Male Lead, The Hero. The Lady Boss' Like bruh, she's hot, cool, and idolized by almost everyone but still remains unbothered.

    • There's an unexpected 'Psychological' and 'Comedy' genre that keeps the story interesting.
    • The Female lead with this type of character is rare.
    • She is not overpowered but because of the experimental stuff that was done to them, she became strong.
    • Other character's POV was included in the story.
    • This ain't a reverse harem but also a reverse harem at the same time.
    • The male lead is a maiden, I love this duo so much.
On the bad side: The story is slow-paced.

The story is focused on the plot maybe that's why other characters aren't defined that much.

I only managed to read 6 chapters in full. The story seems interesting.

However, the author (or translator) likes to mix povs which disrupts the reading. In two sentences next to each other we have "I was surprised. She used to be xxxx" so mixing I and She while refering to the lead. Why not keep it either as 1st person narrative or 3rd person narrative consistently. And just on chapter 6 we have additional point of view of another character.

Don't take me wrong - I read some with different POVs.... more>> But mixing the narrative and on top adding another chara POV is too much and was simply hard to read through.

I will put it on hold. A real shame that some minor stuff pull down a good looking plot. <<less

Not rating this since I didn't read a lot.. But, I was hooked because of the summary. I burst out laughing reading the last sentence.

... But that didn't happen and I really wanted to read a CN where the cannon fodder ignores the villain but they still follow her...

Soo.. I'm a skip this story...

Its slow paced, but its good. Others complain about the the FL is a total Mary Sue but I dont think she is. She has her own weaknesses that arent noticeable. I personally dont understand why people complain about the FL being a Mary Sue but never about how an ML is a Gary Stu (male version of Mary Sue). Boring and slow paced af. Started out decent though.

Just more of the same shet over and over again, story never gets anywhere. She never kicks out the unwanted guy and eventually just gets chained down. She rejects everyone else normally but never to him. Forced af.

This is really amazing! I love it so much; the personalities of ML and FL are great (especially FL), they're strong, have chemistry, and I love how small misunderstandings or secrets never turn into big problems.

The translation was also done perfectly; it made the whole read even more immersive?.

actually the plot is really good and it tempts u to read it right? so I read this and the thing that makes this story real bad is the author. as you know our MC doesnt have feelings anymore bcuz of the experiement but the author seems like he/she couldnt make it in to story like there were scenes where... more>> she felt some sh*t like she felt bad when lakis was injured and she didnt want the OG!FL to be burdened by him and took him her home. and there are many lines where it goes like 'she felt...' she doesnt supposed to feel anything.

the author couldnt make it in to a story like it was poorly written... but the translation is good!

Don't be confused about the 4 on the rating. I liked the novel. It's much better than many other stories on this site, especially shoujo ones. But the problem is, the interesting premise of the story is becoming cliché as the plot keeps moving. Moreover, the romance is being stretched a bit too long for my comfort. I mean it's pretty clear that the MC & ML feel something for each other. I hate how shoujo stories keep giving us unnecessary angst or misunderstandings. It doesn't serve well in every... more>> situation. We can see some new developments in the current chapters. So, I hope the author won't disappoint us.

Aside from the romance, the setting itself is quite interesting. I like how the MC is not OP to the extent of being godly, but strong enough to keep the main ML and side MLs in check. It's a nice thing to see an MC who is neither a damsel in distress nor a black hearted b*tch. Another positive thing is that MC, despite being inexperienced and a little dense (due to the shoujo genre I suppose), does not lack in EQ. She realizes that the ML is interested in her. But I don't like how the author keeps tip-toeing around the topic. I mean if you're going to give us a mature MC for a change, then see through it! Don't just suddenly start implementing shoujo clichés!

Oh well, if you plan on reading this, you should give it a try. It's a bit slow, but if you're used to shoujo, you'll definitely like it! <<less

It's a slow burn, but totally worth it. I'm in love so far. It has an interesting plot, and all of the characters have very unique personalities completly different of what I've read in other novels. Although you have to be patient, things are getting quite captivating... if you know qhat I mean ;). Strongly recommended.

The thing about emotions being transmitted from the ML to MC is kinda weird & unnecessary and it makes their romance feel cheap? Like she becomes drugged every time they touch basically

the parasite. Some of the conversations between ML and the parasite are very entertaining, especially when it teases ML about MC. I do wonder what that parasite really is.

This is not the usual romance plot wherein MC falls head over heels with ML. I like how level-headed she is. It's also very entertaining to see the ML deny his attraction towards the MC especially whenever they touch. It's so cute how clueless/in denial he is. If he ever becomes a yandere, I wouldn't be surprised.

Great story. There is a certain allure to the main protagonist. It was never explained in the memory, how the underworld works and what the ruins really are so it may be kind of confusing. I certainly did but soon got used to the fact that powers are facts in this world.

There love affair is so cute. Lakis is such a good ML.

As far as I concern, this novel is a well-built world. The MC stay true to her personality and the situation played out perfectly. This might not be a novel that people can relate to but it is a well-built one and it stays true to the setting it created at the beginning which I considered to be 4.5+ as long as it go on like this.

You'll start reading for the male yandere, but you'll continue reading because of the bug.

Legit, this novel is amazing. It's serious, but still has a superb amount of fluff and giggles along the way. It is quite literally just the right amount of serious and comedic.

I could go on and on all day, but good gosh.

Ah, yes! The best character in this novel is the bug inside of Lakis Avalon's brain. I have the feeling it's what the fragments are a part of or something similar. The bug makes me laugh every time it opens it says something. The arguments between Lakis and the bug are superb, too.

Also, Lakis being an amazing cook is a great thing, because Yuri can't cook at all. Her cooking is poison. Literal poison. I'm still grinning because Lakis is salty about the OG Heroine's cookies that she failed to sample, thus gave them to Yuri, and Lakis ate them. Poor Lakis needs help. Someone give him food that he can eat without being poisoned!

I was initially despondent that yet another KR novel is being dropped (such is the trend lately for many KR novels :C) but now I can finally see the end of this novel!! Thoroughly excited that this story is being picked up by top notch KR translator Rubymaybe, who chose this story after completing Lucia (another great KR novel).

This story is one wild and non-cliche ride! The world building is pretty unique too. Everything is shrouded in a dense fog now, you can expect many twists and turns. Both the... more>> MC and ML are hiding their true identities as they awkwardly interact with each other (for now, mostly on the couch in MC's living room lol) which adds a layer of mystery and deceit. Overall, very very intriguing characters. I like the multi-POV format too as with the way the ML is, it would be tough to write about him from only the first person angle. <<less
