The traitorous general Gu Mang was returning to his homeland. Everyone wanted to see him dead, and it was said that the one who hated him most was his former best friend—the cold and ascetic Young Master Mo.

The rumours said: Young Master Mo prepared three hundred and sixty-five methods of torture to interrogate him with, just waiting to try them out on Gu Mang. They were so varied it was more than enough to toy with him for a year without repetition.

Except these rumours were very quickly forbidden by Young Master Mo. The reason given was that they described him as a lunatic, and were severely inconsistent with reality.

Honestly, this novel was a great way to make myself suffer. Every chapter just kept getting more and more painful, to the point I had to stop reading for a few days to recover. Although, there are some predictable outcomes and endings in Yuwu, some were absolutely unexpected. As for the overall story, I wouldn't say it was amazing, but I wouldn't say it was bad

This novel HURTS SO GOOD. I like it much, much more than 2ha (which I think is overrated + way too long). This book is still quite long, but every chapter feels important to the story.

The plot had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, as there were so many unexpected twists and nuances. I had some doubts as I was reading, but the ending didn't disappoint; the author did a good job of wrapping everything up, and all the "loose threads" throughout the book actually were... more>> shown to have meaning by the end. There's also some very (VERY) subtle tie in with 2ha (but you definitely don't need to read 2ha to read this, and vice versa).

The characters are so complex, even the side characters. The way the book is written, there is a lot of mystery to each of the characters, and as you keep reading, you slowly gain more insight into their background, history, and motivations. Many characters are not what they seem, but in a way that's not trite and overdone at all!

Basically... this is the most beautiful and tragic book I've ever read. Every single character's story is so tragic. Don't read this if you don't like to cry. <<less

I’ve been holding off reading Yuwu for a few months now, I read 2HA first and then I needed a break from all the angst. I had to prepare myself before reading this.

This gutted me as much as 2HA. I laughed but mostly cried reading this. If it weren’t for the spoilers, I wouldn’t know if this would end in a good way or not. I just love this couple especially the MC. I also felt for the other characters ... more>>

Lu Zhanxing and Murong Chuyi, their deaths’ gutted me. I felt sad for Gu Mang for losing his sworn brother and finding out that he had a cousin which he wasn’t even able to meet properly.

All in all, I can just say I love this book but prepare your heart and have tissues at hand if you’re just like a crier like me. <<less

The story is painfully beautiful like how someone described in the review above. I was so into to the story when I read it for the first time, empathizing with all the characters made it more hard for me. It was hard to hold myself from crying.

especially the part when it's revealed that Gu Mang has lost his memories, souls and his core. And the next one's were when Mo Xi is within the time mirror and when he used jade scroll to go back in time to learn about the reason Gu Mang defected.

In the recent chapters, when Mo Xi exhausted his spiritual power and now his core in the verge of breaking, I feel so sad. I hope nothing happens to both Mo Xi and Gu Mang, they have suffered a lot. They deserve happiness and just happiness.

From the Second Chapter I can say I hate the Yue Chenqing character. He just seems like one of those annoying characters that are vile as hell. Ffs, you're in the army do your f*cking job, if you want to play around go back home and live the life of a spoiled young master!

These types of characters tend to be the ones that bring nothing but trouble.

Mannn nothing could’ve prepared me for the pain this novel gave me. It’s sad and constant suffering since the start and even at the ending I couldn’t breathe properly (don’t get me wrong, it’s happy ending) but there’s wasn’t even one chapter where my heart wasn’t heavy and in pain for Gu Mang. I just wanted him to stop suffering 😭✋

The novel was simply PAIN throughout but it was so weelll written! I have never cried reading a novel as much as I did while reading Yuwu. They go through so much pain and yet they're still okay. I would recommend this to anyone. A beautiful novel!

The way my opinion about the emperor and Murong Lian kept changing. 📈📉📈📉📈📉 I did love the emperors sassiness.i did suspect jiang Yuexue to be the mastermind or atleast one of the badguys lol after readin ERHA I know that the nicest and kindness person will end up being the bad guy. thats why I knew murong chuyi was cold and distant in the beginning, I miss my guy chuyi wish he and Mangmang got to spend their time as brother 😭

Great storytelling of a great plot with a cast of great characters. It's meatbun, what do you expect? The translation are also superb. They can interpret and adjust meatbun's writing (and localize it) so well. However, depite that I still have big problem with this story:

  • I was quite invested for a few chapters because of the facts stated above, but I don't have the patience to read a romance story where the ML (in this story: is the shou) is only exist in flashback. His current self doesn't have a sound mind and it's totally different than having an amnesia. It doesn't change whether he is pretending or not, because he is still present as unsound mind to even us (readers). Anyway, having a sound ML accompanying the MC since initial chapters is not a definite rule of romance story, but it does take away a lot of excitement of reading one. My taste lean more to story where MC and ML are constantly interacting and both have active parts.
  • BTW, what I mean with unsound character is not those who born with special characteristics or merely has lower IQ, but a character with changed mentality with possibility of recovering.

If you love meatbun or if you don't mind this type of slowburn you can go on to read this (still) highly interesting story. I'll continue reading when I run out of novel with great plot (highly unlikely, right?) or when my curiosity win over.

This is still 4 or even 5 stars story, just the plot doesn't suit me. <<less

It is painful, full of suffering, but beautiful. I really enjoyed how I shed tears reading this, it's worth it.

You will find a lot of annoying characters at the beginning of the novel (glance at Murong Lian and Mo Xi). However, as time goes by, you will find your hatred for them slowly erodes and end up sympathizing with them. All characters have flaws that make them look like villains but in the end you can't really hate them, of course that doesn't apply to the real villain, the s*um... more>> Emperor, Murong Chen. I was quite toyed with by him. Because of him, my hubby, Lu Zhanxing had to die a miserable death. I still can't get up from that sadness.

In essence, this is a heavy book, full of thorns that are ready to break your heart every chapter. But, this will make you addicted, wanting to read more, because you will know that every action all character takes has meaning. This is a worthy read. Therefore I give full stars. :) <<less

This is an outstanding and painful novel. I read thèse 97 chap in 2 weeks. Couldnt let more than the Time to go to work and Come back. Meatbun, ah.. How to Say.. Even sometimes too poetic, I love the way he writes his stories. Moxi, Guman they were born for happiness together but to deserve it they have to go through doubts, anger, pain and I follow the rythm wishing the Happy end to Come. When will Côme next chap please 🙏🙏

The novel is so beautiful. This novel will make you cry, angry happy. Basically, this novel is full of rollercoaster ride of emotions. The translation is also really good. But it's really sad that the translator has decided to slow down the translation. It really hurts that I can't savour this novel and will have to wait really long time. It would be so nice that translator would pace up.

  1. I don't love novels that easily and this is one of those novels which pulled me in from the start. The characters are rich and everything flows well, I'm just really sad that only about one episode comes out per month, 2 if we're lucky. I just wanna read this deliciousness soon and I'm pretty upset

I found the plot/pacing a bit uneven. Had a hard time warming up to Mo Xi. As always, Meatbun blew my little mind with twist after twist. Gu Mang is wonderful. And of course I loved so many of the side characters. T.T

This baby here deserve more recognize that has, is a beautiful novel, with all the good plot, and strength romance, with hard and painfully drama that the mama Meatbun always gifted us, if u had doubts cut they in half and just start read, will you not regret.

At first I was just looking for a novel that seemed interesting, I only read the initial summary and was interested, didn't read the title or author. In the middle of reading this novel I thought about why the author made a plot like this, and always looked at the author's notes who dared to include other novel characters in small notes at the end of the chapter. After I researched it, it turned out that the author was Meat-bun writer-nim, what??, if its Meat-bun that wrote it, it's only... more>> natural that the plot could be like this, and I got to see the names of the 2ha characters. <<less

Honestly this is my first time to write a review for a story....

first of all I love this story and this deserves recognition...

second this story has everything you need... love, hate, friendship, tragedy, melodrama, comedy, pain, pain and pain.

... more>> Ok so I can say that yuwu is that type of story where you can't predict each character's intention... each character has its won flaws and strength..

The best thing in novel is each character has their own fully developed story and no character are useless..... side couple are well executed.... and this mini stories are connected to main one...

Our main cp general gu mang and mo xi has their own uniqueness and you love their interaction everytime you read about them... if gu mang suffers.. mo xi equally suffers in their own way.. but what attracted me most is the dynamic of MURONG CHUYI and JIANG YEXUE

... in my options murong chuyi is most tragic character in the whole novel

Murong chuyi deserve better in whole story...I feel that his and yexue story can be explored in better way..... gu mang has mo xi but chuyi has yexue who is the caused of his problem but he loves chuyi more them himself.... and chuyi was his whole world.... he is so possesive and obsessed with chuyi

Plus their first meeting in snow

I also not hate yexue... and can understand his condition why he act like that

From the starting when their characters show up I find more attracted to them as compared to main one

Honestly after their story end I loosed my interest to read remaining 20 ch......i literally cried for a whole day about thinking their story.

Overall this story is worth of reading so go and read you find that that black and white has very distinctive line and this sme thing happened to life
