Our straight (?) bottom woke up ten years into the future and found himself on the bed of his childhood friend… At the start, the bottom was shocked to his very bones, but he soon quickly accepted this premise and found the whole situation to be rather amusing. Precisely then, the bottom once again went back to his timeline — back to when he and the top were just platonic childhood friends.

What a great novel and I just finished it in 10 hrs LMAO

I love the plot the most and I can sense a lot of character progression from the MC (Renzi) when he was foolish to the capable type, well not that too capable but atleast he knew some things on the world now. I love the fluffy moments between him and the ML (Gu Xiaoshan) up until their wedding. The smut were not that many but everytime it came up, it would always feel so steamy and even vulgar... more>> lmao.

I hope they included a 2part extra for ZhiXuan and YuYunTao too because I am also curious how they got together huhuhuhu TT

I'm just confused sometimes. I wish the author included their physical descriptions and ages too up until the year 2018 to 2028. Other than that, it was a pleasant reading journey so far!! The translations were good too. <<less

Ummmm this is sooo good! I was dying laughing over so many parts b/c of the MC’s dad and older brother interactions. Also the MC dumbness is quite endearing. I see many people complaining about his s*upidity and how unrealistic it is, but his personality makes sense with his background and I know quite a few people who really are that innocent. Only thing I wished for was more smut lolol

Literally the first novel to make me laugh out loud! At most I would just smile, never laughing.

For the first half of the novel, I didn't know whether to face palm at MC's gullibility or laugh at his, well, gullibility. So I did both. At times, its really frustrating because dumb MC but the YU family managed to placate it as they really are too cute especially Father Yu. I very much like him for a father.

Just so you know, there's no character development for MC. He's aware he's dumb... more>> but he doesn't make anything to change it and its not that bad compared to others and as I really really dislike dumb MC and even thought of dropping this one because of it. But maybe what made it bearable is the comedy and that around him are supportive people, ready at his beck and call.

ML gives the fox vibe, but fortunately, he's not one to take advantage of MC, and he does things usually for the sake of MC. He's also overprotective but not in the overbearing kind of way. I did not like him much until the Country C arc so yea. He's good.

The book also said that there's no logic so it's better to relax and let your brain cells let loose. And just enjoy!

4.5/5 because of me getting frustrated. ??? <<less

Edit:

Spoiler

Upon rereading, I've come to like the ML a little more than before. He's not perfect but he's not a bad character, at least to people he cares about. And his character development is probably one of the most significant in this series. In the first reading of this story, it was a little hard for me to appreciate these things because this novel is super eventful and things just kept happening continuously.

[collapse]

I like this story for what it is. It's a fairly lighthearted read which throws all logic out the window and it knows it. I laughed at various parts of this novel, mainly for the antics that the MC and his family is up to.

It's like there's a fairy godmother floating around turning everyone gay LOL

For the most part, the gay jokes aren't too overplayed like in BL stories, it's mentioned once in awhile, but never the punchline of all the jokes which makes it tolerable.

MC:

Spoiler

Despite what most reviews here say about the MC, I actually like the MC a lot. He is self-aware that he's not intelligent, and he knows his "strengths". But honestly he's just super naive and just likes to take things easy. My heart actually ached for him at various points because of how misguided and lost he is, though it is often played with a comedic undertone. If this wasn't a lighthearted slice of life story, and instead a cut throat system administrator story, he'll definitely become that "white lotus" that all the s*um MLs will regret over. He's like the perfect target for insane, scummy people (which even the ML has potential of turning into LOL) but he recovers quickly but also slowly learns from past experiences. Still, he's too trusting of people thanks to the way people around him treats him, which is also unfortunate. I'm really glad that Mu Chutong exists to "show" everyone that the MC isn't some fragile object that needs to be handled with kids glove, instead he's teachable, albeit a little slower than most. In summary, the MC is just a ball of empathy and naivety

[collapse]

ML:

Eh... I'm not a super big fan of him but towards the end, he becomes more likable mainly with his interactions with the MC.

Spoiler

I don't really think there's anything wrong with the way he was living or anything but I am just not a huge fan of how he treats the MC, trying to keep MC from knowing the truth and "protecting" him, which also in turns causes MC to just keeps falling for different tricks. Like most of the characters in this book, he would just watch the MC mess his own life up repeatedly and just make snide comments here and there, also indulging the MC but not really guiding him?

He does have his own issues, especially with his family. In the end, when the MC and him starts communicating properly, the relationship does turn for the better and they start helping each other improve.

[collapse]

Side Characters:

MC's family:

MC's dad: On the surface he's really mean to the MC, and is the main reason why the MC is how the way he is, but he does really care for the MC. I laughed the most at this novel because of his antics too. He's like your typical strict dad, who tries to put a front, but when anything happens to the MC, he'll shout "Bring me my cane!"

Feel a little sad and lonely for him as eventually everyone leaves the nest, but they'll still visit him.

MC's brother: Even meaner towards the MC, but he'll team up with his father to destroy anyone who bullies the MC with his baseball bat LOL. I'm not overly fond of him to be honest, especially after knowing how he pursued the secretary, but it all worked out in the end soooo.

MC's brother's secretary: I didn't remember any of their names haha. But I like him. The progression of him and the MC's relationship is quite nice to see.

Mu Chutong:

Spoiler

The MVP and a really important person for the MC, although they don't really interact much directly. While reading the novel, I flipped through the comments and I saw this name being thrown around here and there. Originally I thought he would be another throwaway cookie cutter love rival that either clings on to the ML or starts falling for the MC, but to my surprise he's neither. I would really love to read a novel featuring him and that mafia guy as I really like his personality a lot. He's strong, unyielding and is the only person not caught up in the whole protective net over the MC. He goes by his own pace, and chases his own dreams. Is really clear minded throughout, he's a really refreshing character.

[collapse]

Antagonists:

Mafia dude:

Spoiler

Haha I forgot all the names here but Mafia guy number one. A perfect example of a wolf in sheep's clothing. If I ever encounter such a person, I would definitely be duped like the MC so I am in no position to criticise lol.

I felt bad for him at first when the MC only had eyes for the ML and would not notice his antics to woo the MC, and being left hanging like that, gosh, I cringed hard and felt a super strong sense of second hand embarrassment for him.

But as the novel progresses, he suddenly transformed into his super sleazy predator, and it's a constant descent I was so caught off-guard. I expected him to be a piece of shit, but I did not expect him to be THE piece of shit. It's like, after shedding that sheep's clothing, he still continued to molt into various monsters, each worst than the former. And he bounces back with more perverse excitement to reattempt at hunting the MC? e____e

also he has a hairy chest apparently haha

[collapse]

Tea/Model dude with a poodle:

/cringe

lol

Spoiler

He's your stereotypical goody two shoes villain. I don't think I would have disliked him that much if he didn't try to drag the MC's name through the mud to try to protect himself after the misunderstanding. Just another unfortunate victim to the MC's rollercoaster train of thought.

I wasn't super fond of him to begin with because he felt so fake, but all in all it ended up being justifed ^____^

[collapse]

ML's dad

Not really an antagonist per say, but another boss to overcome.
Spoiler

Your stereotypical rich parent that wants the kid to be the best and cut off all possible nonsense. Would throw money to get rid of any "flies". He did have some sort of backstory to explain his behavior but eehhk. He's ok. I feel bad for him but I feel worse for the ML haha.

I really like how the ML's family habit of flattery and beating around the bush contrasted with the MC's family straight to the point, ex-gangster kind of habits.

[collapse]

It wrapped up okay, I wouldn't mind a couple more extras delving more into the MC's current mindset and way of thinking to see his growth.

I have to say this is one of the funniest novels I've read. MC and his family are honestly a riot. There's a little bit of drama and angst, but MC and ML have an implicit understanding of each other and manage to communicate through most problems without issue. Additionally, the characters (and even the novel itself) is full of self-awareness. Renzi knows that he's not clever and needs things to be spelled out while the novel even clearly indicates that because he's gay... everyone around him is also gay.... more>> Even his dad wonders if he might be gay.

The translation was superb, kudos to the translator. My only gripe is that there was a bit of a downward spiral near towards the end and the ending itself was a bit lackluster. <<less

Gonna give this 4 stars, this novel was really enjoyable.

It was mostly fluffy but it had some level of depth, the characters weren't one-dimensional and I liked most of them. The MC is really naive and unguarded but it's an issue that does get addressed which is something you rarely see in these types of novels. (Plus he's a little cutie pie) Even with the naive/s*upid character trope, the misunderstandings weren't drawn out and didn't make me want to pull my hair out which I'm grateful for. I'm kinda disappointed... more>> that the MC never told the ML about that dream at any point in the story, which made it somewhat insignificant and really only served as a catalyst for the MC's feelings. The author definitely could have done more with that concept but all in all the novel was a nice read. <<less

This was a really cute story, with a couple that makes me happy just reading about them.

There isn't a ton of plot, but the story maintains momentum with the progression of the two protagonists' relationship, minor drama with various side characters, and some character development towards the very end.

Overall, an enjoyable read.

Warning though read tag it says naive protagonist don't expect them to be smart but this MC isn't completely s*upid they're just sheltered

I think with every danmei you kind of have to change your scale of how 'good' a novel is because the quality and genre of works can be wayyyy more diverse than what we give credit for. This novel sells itself as a funny and easy-going, so I'm not going to expect deep thoughts or the moving journey of an MC's road to growth and maturation. And that's not a bad thing -- not every novel needs to be a piece that you have to think hard about. This story... more>> is really cute and its main positive points are its humor and (simple) romance. I think it succeeded in what it was trying to accomplish. Another thing I'd like to say is that in addition to my opinion that not every danmei needs to be deep, I also think it's fine to have MCs that are naive, silly, or even a little 'dumb'. It just adds to the diverse body of works that are out there. Not even gonna lie there was a point in time where I was annoyed with the deluge of MCs who, from the beginning to the end, are mature/smart and never encounter any problems because they're 'smart' enough to avoid them. I think these types of MCs also go through no growth, and are perhaps even less interesting than MCs like in this story. MCs who are a little dumb and fall for traps and evil plotting help add to the drama of a story, and drama is part of the entertainment that I'm trying to get from these books, lol. <<less

Chap 26:

Old Mister Yu and the Eldest son are seriously too funny

Chap 56:

Okay Renzi's naivety/ cluelessness/pampered rich kid syndrome/no need to work hard/IQ never focused on proper stuff is taking a toll on me. Nearly halfway into the novel and he's not gaining any maturity. No doubt that was the key hilarity during the start till now and I loved it, but it feels like it's getting old. However I'm still loving the side duo and Old Mister Yu.

The MC is very naive and silly.. Sometimes to the point of being frustrating but at the same time his silliness is quite cute. Also, his lack of well awareness about other people's bad intentions is can be very much attributed to the way he was raised so I can't find fault with it because although he's silly it's quite realistic and in line with his character. Also, even though he's naive, he's sensitive to the feelings and emotions of those that are close to him that he actually cares... more>> about.

Spoiler

You can say he isn't really aware of Shu Jingyi (i think that's his name?) 's intentions towards him but at the same time when it comes to his father brother or even the ML when they're in front of him he can tell hoe they feel. I feel that though he doesn't always understand why the ML does the things he does - like when the ML ran away to Country C after realizing the MC liked him - he still knows when the ML is avoiding him - also I think considering their relationship dynamic it's quite reasonable for him to think the ML was simply going to work because he doesn't know enough about their circle to know that that meeting wasn't a necessary thing to attend and the ML does have quite a lot of work that takes him out of the country often. Anyyywayys - the MC is overall more sensitive towards people he cares about and can't be bothered to use his brain to figure out what other people are thinking about because he knows his family will protect him at the end of the day.

[collapse]

Overall the novel is really sweet and cute.

If I have anything I'm not satisfied with it would be the resolution between the MC and the ML's father.

Spoiler

Yeah he stopped interfering but like a little line there to show that he set down his prejudice towards the MC due to his relationship with the ML being much bettter than the ML's parent's relationship.

Also like I really want a clarification on if the MC had ever actually did anything with his 'girlfriends' because it didn't really seem like it - like I can't think of him throwing money at them and then sleeping with them and then throwing more money at them and breaking up, to me personally it felt more like he threw money at them to have a girlfriend in name that he could take out to accompany him at events and make a fuss with idk but this doesn't really affect the story it's just a little thing that I would've preferred clarification on.

I gave this novel 4 stars but I have mixed feelings about it. The MC was a naive overtrusting man child. His foolishness was adorable at times but other times he made me frustrated with his s*upidity. His family and ML overindulged him too. But it was kinda refreshing to see MC with such child like innocence. The MC family dynamic was kinda funny. The novel was hilarious at some times.

The villain was like predators which we see in real life too.

The translation was spectacular.

I'm giving it four stars only because of the author's effort and the translation group but my original review to this novel is three.

One star for author and translator. Two star for the plot. One star for characters.

Let me make it clear, I like MC, alright, but I don't like how overly trusting he is and how lacking he is at common sense. I mean yeah I understand his position because the novel made it clear how pampered and spoiled he is, relying on his dad, brother, and ML since... more>> childhood. He was a sheltered young master who knew nothing of how the real world works so I understand how he is so innocent and pure and honest. But I just want him to at least try his best to change his ways especially after he acknowledged that he isn't worthy (or was it deserving?) of ML because ML is just amazing and patient (he's not perfect but who cares?) .

Nevertheless, this novel is just alright <<less

Admittedly, I read this ages a while ago, so I won't write much.

+1 The story's as the synopsis says, which is a first for Chinese novels. No spoilers. Just facts about the first two chapters.

-1 The MC's a self-pitying, talentless rich guy and is way too naïve. Still, it's good for pointless dog-blood drama.

... more>> +1 We have a mature ML who doesn't have scarily r*pey tendencies!1!1!

-1 Some unnecessary interactions and side ships that appear randomly.

+1 The translator is good. Thank you for your hard work. ≪3

-1 The ending (which explains the "out-of-body experience") is abrupt and kind of pointless.

All in all, this is decent. <<less
