As a person who transmigrated into a novel written by himself, Qin Kaiyi experiences a huge pressure and burden.

Even more so, he transmigrated as the villain and is forced to follow the plot. Qin Kaiyi expresses that he doesn’t want to write novels anymore.

Qin Kaiyi: “WTF. transmigrating into the villain and being forced to follow the plot. Just let it be. Shen Feixiao, can you get the f*ck down from my body???”

Shen Feixiao: “Shixiong, I won’t.”

Alright, actually this is just a s*upid story about transmigrating into his own novel as the villain and getting pushed down by his own protagonist.

I don't know why this story has many bad reviews, but I personally liked it very much. Don't miss reading this just because of some bad reviews. The characters were good, plot is good, and translator did a great job I really appreciate them.

Spoiler

I didn't like the part where after MC went back to reality he was dragged back into the novel by that sly fox ML

Rating: 3/5.

I have to admit that for me personally, this experience was an utter disappointment. Prior to this novel, I read excellent works from this author such as Kaleidoscope of Death, My Five Element Lack You, and started on Fantasy Farm. Thus, despite particularly harsh reviews, having a good impression of the writer, I went in A Smile From the Villain having high expectations. And boy do I feel quite let down.

First off, the novel starts off with potential as a standard transmigration story with a yandere trope. Personally, ... more>> none of the characters were yet especially likable nor relatable, but that was fine because I expected at least some growth or minimal change regarding the main character as the story progressed. On the other hand, I was alright with having to bear with the characters as long as I could understand their motivations to a degree and see where they were coming from in their actions and behavior, and the plot was engaging.

Sadly, I find that the quality seems to degrade as the story advances. Further series of events just appear plain illogical, repetitive, or distasteful. To be brutally honest, up until where I have read, from the shallow conduct of the characters to the events that occur, I cannot even begin to fathom how any aspect of this novel can be "realistic". To top it off, the main character and main lead, as well as the side characters remained unappealing and inconsistent. Too often, there is a dissonance in the characters' words and actions, which did not help my confusion or frustration throughout the story. For clarification, I don't particularly mind yandere tropes, as long as the plot has to some extent logical events and characters that are engaging and serve to drive the plotline. However, in this novel, many characters appear in the story, seem to serve no significant or meaningful purpose whatsoever, and are later discarded. They do not have much depth and do not visibly grow throughout the story, and are in other words, very one-dimensional and boring. In the later chapters, the plot makes me feel as if it is agonizingly dragged forward in order to lengthen the story.

Therefore, unless you want to set yourself up for endless mortification, torment, and a severe headache, I suggest you not to waste your time, not to repeat my mistake, and perhaps read the author's more enjoyable works. Although I haven't finished reading this yet, I simply cannot see how what I personally consider as a total mess to be salvageable anymore, especially with how some other reviews described the last third of the novel. The only positive things I have to comment on are all the accurate and fast translations, so I do sincerely appreciate the translator's efforts and time. I can only say that I refrained from rating this even worse in consideration of the fantastic translator. <<less

Comedy? I feel lied to. The poor attempt of adding comedy made me dislike the story.

This just feels like some fanfic of another novel. No need for 90+ chapters when this could easily be shortened as I found the side characters' story more interesting than the main CP's relationship.

No hate for translator though.

I just want to say, my 2-star rate is entirely for the novel only. Translations are good. They did a great job

Thank you for your efforts

TW: R*pe, noncon, violence, confinement, Stockholm syndrome, hardcore Yandere ML, manipulation, toxic relationship, extremely obsessive, controlling & possessive ML (and no, it's not merely ML being jealous of others flocking around MC and glaring at them)

... more>> In short, this novel isn't for the faint-hearted.

My Overall Thoughts of the Story: The premise is nothing new. The author transmigrated to his own written novel as a villain character who's forced to act his role by a system. I've read this twice. The first time, I liked the story. But after reading the r*pe & confinement scenes, despite reading the tags, it was still too suffocating for me to continue that's why I dropped it even though there were only a couple of chapters left to finish.

Spoiler

The r*pe scene was on c71. You can skip that chapter entirely if it's too much for you to bear. Oh, and there's an author's note at the end of that chapter that really baffled and triggered me. Basically, the author pitied the ML and encouraged the MC to devote himself to the ML and stay by his side. Like?? Author? Is there a hole in your brain? Has your moral compass gone haywire? Why the hell would the victim devote himself to his own perpetrator like some sicko M?! Ah right. They're mere characters on screen to you. I shouldn't have expected you to treat them dearly like real people. Right, my bad. It's my fault.... NOT!! And when I read the comments on that chapter, some actually enjoyed that abominable scene. Like?? Am I the only sane one here?!

There were more scenes where ML r*ped MC, specifically c78 and c88 so beware.

[collapse]

The second time, I didn't enjoy it that much... probably because I noticed more how frustrating and irritating both the MC & ML were. Also, the latter half of the novel went downhill really quickly. It felt rushed. Some events were constantly preluded, which made them seem like something big was gonna happen but the result was very disappointing. I do, however, enjoy the comedic undertone this novel has. It somehow alleviates the heavy vibe it gives even a little bit.

Spoiler

This novel has a bad ending, which was to be expected. I'd be surprised if it has a happy ending lol

[collapse]

My Thoughts About the Characters:

  • Qin Kaiyi (MC/shou) - I have so many frustrations regarding this character.
    • He's a pushover. He's too soft-hearted towards the OG protagonist/ML. I get it, he's the author. He created the ML and he's feeling guilty about all the hardships he put him through. Not only that but if he lets the ML die, he will die too. But when...
      Spoiler

the ML bit the MC's neck, s**ked his blood, and was devouring him... what did the MC do? After struggling and pushing him away, he still dragged the unconscious ML back to the cave and waited for him to wake up. He even checked the ML's meridians if there weren't any issues and then bid goodbye just like that.
Even though he was angry at the ML, he still let him go without even so much as a scolding. *grabs the back of my neck in frustration* Ugh, my blood pressure... If I were him, I would've punished the ML even a bit or at least slapped him! Plot or protagonist halo be damned. I don't care. Also, when the MC went back to his original world, despite being traumatized and fearing the ML, he still let him live with him at his place. *sighs in resignation* Qin Kaiyi... what should we do with you? Is this idiocy due to Stockholm syndrome? At this point, you need a psychologist. *sighs*

      [collapse]
      \
    • He's s*upid.
      Spoiler

When Zi Yangpei took the ML hostage and threatened to kill him if the MC didn't give him the rain-soaked bell... the MC had his hands tied. Like bruh, have you completely forgotten that you made the soul contract with Zi Yangpei and one of the conditions was not to hurt the ML, or else his soul will be obliterated? Yes, he might've panicked and blanked out but that scene with the bell was the 2nd time Zi Yangpei took the ML as hostage. In both times, not once did the soul contract cross the MC's mind.
I pity Yan Gu. He's stuck with a s*upid and very frustrating person.

      [collapse]
    • He's selfish. The way the MC acts as a villain as Qin Shi towards the ML while at the same time, hiding as a masked man to help him is so twisted. Yes, he didn't want to do all of those harsh things to the ML and was being forced by the system so what does he do to alleviate his guilt and be at peace with himself? He secretly helps the ML. This, in turn, blossomed into a twisted obsession of ML with the MC. Whatever he experienced was all due to his actions. Even though they were terrible, I couldn't feel even the slightest bit of sympathy towards the MC cause he brought it upon himself.
    • He's naive and in denial. I get that he still feels like a bystander in the world and thinks of himself as one but you'd think that after experiencing almost being r*ped the first time, he'll come to his senses and become a bit more vigilant when he's outside. But nooooo.... he almost got r*ped AGAIN by some cannon fodder *tears my hair out in frustration* The first scene where he was almost r*ped was actually a situation where the MC could've gotten himself easily out of. Bro was merely tied by ropes and has a high cultivation yet he couldn't even cut those flimsy ropes?! What the hell is his cultivation for?!
      Spoiler

Right, right. The MC shouldn't be able to get out of that simple predicament because the author wanted the ML to save the MC's damsel-in-distress ass and have his little pet invade his mind to know his real identity. Ah... the fire in my heart is not subsiding...

      [collapse]
The MC is both naive and in denial about the ML's apparent changes. He still thinks that the ML is the same "cute, pitiful" child he once knew and raised like his own son. He couldn't believe how much his son changed and acted towards him. The MC actually thought that the ML would thank him or at least ignore him once he knew that he was the masked man. Excuse me sir, are you that dumb??
    • He's a coward and lacks resolve. MC is the type to ignore reality to keep his sanity. But hey, people have different ways to cope. While I don't blame him, it doesn't change the fact that he's a coward. From the start, the MC's goal was to go back home and he's pretty adamant about it. When faced with the choice to
      Spoiler

kill the ML to go back home, he couldn't do it which is very conflicting to me as a reader. On one hand, I understand that he's still reluctant to kill a person, feels guilty towards the ML, and still has some sort of twisted positive feelings towards him. On the other hand, I couldn't understand why he's still hesitating when he's one step away from returning home and how he could still feel guilt & positive feelings (no matter how twisted) towards his own perpetrator & captor. He said that he misses his parents so much but at the same time, he still has enough emotions left to worry about the ML. Right, Stockholm syndrome huh? I get it. Ah.... their relationship is so twisted and toxic.

      [collapse]
  • Shen Feixiao (ML/gong) - He's a real yandere and a psycho. He's not a likable character from the beginning of the novel till the end. He's literally the embodiment of the saying "Evil is not born, it's made." I mean, yeah his personality & character were shaped due to his harsh childhood and the meddlings of the MC but... he's too twisted for me to empathize. I guess he's the one being referred to in the title "A Smile from the Villain."
  • Ziyang Pei (antagonist/2nd ML) - As an antagonist, he was naturally irritating during the first half of the novel but later on became someone whom I quite liked. Still, he and Shen Feixiao are both terrible MLs.
  • Supporting Characters - I'm glad that Yan Gu and Qing Xuzi were introduced. They were the only saving graces in this novel full of toxicity. It's a pity that we didn't get a backstory about Yan Gu, Ziyang Shi, and Xue Xian's relationships. It seemed to be another complicated one but I was still interested cause I liked Yan Gu's character.
I don't like either the MC or the ML. Neither of them is right in the head. They're both flawed (which I normally would appreciate because it makes them feel more like real people), but their flaws are taken to extremes. When they're brought together, they only bring disaster to each other. It's so toxic.

  • SYSTEM: The system is the embodiment of the carrot and stick approach.

The tags are accurate, I feel a lot of reviews here are giving shocked Pikachu face that NC/ab*se/obsession are actually present in the story that tagged for it.

Personally giving 4 stars as I felt some areas jumped around plot wise-- this is also very slow burn which isn't my FAVORITE cup of tea yet here I am having completed it.

Translator did a great job, I really liked the world building, and for all the unhealthy relations in the main relationship I still enjoyed this novel.

(I'm totally surprised that despite having been brutally tortured by this story, I still managed to finish it.

I actually already finished reading this since last year, I only came back here to write my reviews. My reviews were the ones written on my notes many many months ago and I only edited it.)

First of all....

... more>> I've never encountered such fkked-up story in my life.

Aside from Hua Hua You Long where both characters aren't any good as well, in my opinion, this one is way more fkked up.

It is a story about Qin KaiYi who transmigrated on his own novel, and somehow acquired a system who will order him to do villainous actions for the MC just as what the original goods had done before.

And Shen FeiXiao, the ML, who longed for warmth and kindness after facing cruelty as a child.

This is the first story I've read where MC transmigrated on his own novel, and it's because this story is completely different from the usual "MC transmigrating to a novel he just finished reading/roasted", It just made the overall story more miserable and wretched, as the system constantly forced MC to repeat the previous actions of the original goods, and since MC would acquire points for it which would result him to going back home, he eagerly acquiesced to it.

However, MC who's the author of the novel he transmigrated at, and is now currently ordered by the system to be cruel to the Protagonist (ML) ーAnd it's because the Protagonist is his own son (his creation) ー He find it hard for him to treat his son badly.

Hence he created another identity of his own, just so he could treat his son well in secret without letting the protagonist know who he is, and also, so he wouldn't feel guilty anymore when he would be ordered to torture the protagonist again.

ML's so-called "warmth" was this mysterious person (MC) who suddenly appeared out of nowhere

At the beginning, he was cautious towards this mysterious person, but after spending more time, he gradually became obsessed with him.

This was the literal turning-point of this story.

Spoiler

He later found out that the "mysterious person" was the MC

[collapse]

This story started off with a comedic plot with hints of angst and psychological plot here and there.

I was very hyped up while reading the first half of the chapters, because it has funny narrations and all, the plot is slowly getting interesting. But it gradually turned darker and darker 'till it became unbearable for me to read (but I still keep on reading because I can't help my curiosity for what may happen next👀)

The feeling anybody could feel while reading this novel, at least for my opinion (once again) is similar to when you're falling in a pitch black pit fall, but you do not know how long will you fall or how deep this pit fall, leaving you with anxiety and fear that.

I feel like there are so many other ways for Author to make both of the character's life a little bit better, and their relationship to be a little, Healthy

Spoiler

Literally They Are Not In Any Healthy Relationship At All Because Shen Feixiao Doesn't Love His Shixiong, And He Only Wants To Possess Him Because He's His Warmth!

If he loved him, then why would he allow his Shixiong to lose his sanity and go crazy because of him?

[collapse]

I admit that the Author is a genius writer. I love how they could always keep every chapter interesting, and thrilling, where you would always look forward what would happen next. So they could've been able to make a way to brighten the atmosphere of this story a little bit.

Well perhaps the author has fetish towards angsty and psychological story?

Or perhaps they simply wants to KILL us, their lowly readers? Because, the author, unboubtedly, succeeded!!

I'm completely DEAD INSIDE

This story literally tortured me. All of the happy things that happened in this story instantly 'poofed' into nothingness as soon as the fccked up plots followed.

In overall, this story is now my trauma. The ghost that kept haunting my. The virus that I would want to avoid.

Although I really love how the comedy is implied, and the plot flow is such a masterpiece (not gonna deny.... The plot flow is very well written which was one fo the reasom why I binged this story), it simultaneously ganged up my poor heart 'till it turned into a poor looking mashed potatoes.

Other than Hua Hua You Long, I've never read such a toxic novel in my life.

Even if the MC and ML of Hua Hua You Long are a crazed being as well (one is a possesive madman while one has a full-fledge Stockholm syndrome who fell in love with his prisoner), well at least both of them loves each other!

But how about this? They neither love each other!

Qin KaiYi only felt fatherly love towards Shen Feixiao because he's his creation. And he could hate him as well because it was his fault for turning the ML gay.

But he really doesn't want to be together with him! He's even scared of him lol!

Spoiler

He also confirmed to Shen FeiXiao in his original world that he's NOT GAY and he DOESN'T LIKE HIM! He likes Girls and they really WON'T WORK OUT!!

[collapse]

While Shen FeiXiao, as I mentioned before, he definitely. doesn't. Love. him.

The only thing he wants is MC's lifetime accompaniment, after being proned to abandonment since childhood, and he never want those things to happen again.

(He might as well just break MC's legs so he wouldn't escape him anymore XD)

Daang, he's even more worser than Luo BingHe and Xie Xi (a yandere shidi as well from the novel 'Everyday The Protagonist Wants to Capture Me')

He held his Shixiong dearly, but he didn't cared for him!

There's no hope for a healthy relationship between this two!

Just toxicity!

Lastly, I have to include my impression towards the ML for now before ending my messed up review.

*inhales*

Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary Scary

P. S

Why did I rated this as 5 stars?

Yes, it's crazy because I never loved this story... But that doesn't mean I never liked it:

  1. The characters all had variations and they're fun to read. The dialogues are well-written as well. Also the comedy really succeeded on making me laugh.
  2. I have said this before but the plot flow is extremely smooth. The direction of the plot was resolute and there were no zigzags at all, just straight. I also love how the surprises really surprised me, how the psychological narrations hit the nail of my heart, and how the angst really gave me heart problems....
It impacted me 100%

Although it's not the best story to deserve 5 stars (I'm not trying to say the genre was not my type, but it still left me an extreme impressions, and a deep scar in my heart, deserving a 5 stars since few novels do this to me~ <<less

in all honesty I genuinely liked this novel, mainly because of the cliche plot, trope and yandereness despite my 3 star review. the yandereness isn't what one might first expect because this is a to the extreme yandere, forget about love and plot all I can say to describe this novel is bittersweet and twisted. the ML isn't all lovely dovely like your usual "ill lock him up cause I love him" well, he was once like that until the very end... I really can't say that the ML even... more>> actually love MC in the first place, I feel like it's just full blown obssesion, nothing else.

okay so im gonna explain why I gave this 3 stars instead of more despite me saying I liked it oh-so-much. this is your typical little plot and trope where the MC is the transmigrator and the ML is the protag, I really like this kinds of tropes despite it being very cliche but this one novel, I feel like the author could've made the MC and ML well... compatible.

the MC is an author that has a personality of clumsy, quite dumb and others, but if we changed the mc's personality a bit as in cunning, smart, not necessarily a genius but just comperable to ml's personality I felt that this would've been more enticing and alot more understandable for the ending because the MC is basically helpless and vulnerable when ML found out it was him that gave him strength.

this had so many potential to be very good in a twisted way if the author just changed the mc's way of acting and thinking to be comparable to the ML and excecuted it in a fitting way.

i gave this 3 stars because of my opinion and because of the ending... I didn't expect anything good since halfway through but damn. but I really can't handle how much potential this could have made when the author didn't follow the cliche trope and made it a bit more twisted in a good way. <<less

But, I glad I ignore the bad review and read it.

The story is really good and really describe what the real Yandere is, not just the "yandere" that people romanticizing usually.

... more>> And I thought the reason why there're so many bad review was because the summary is kind of misleading people.

This story is heavy, everyone.. Not for everyone taste.

It's not fluffy, or comedic, but dark and heavy with bittersweet ending. So, for you all with black heart do not hesitate to read it 😁 <<less

My low rating and review has nothing to do with the tags. I don't think anybody should be rating this solely based on the tags. You have every right to feel uncomfortable and not want to read something with r*pe in it, especially with BL where r*pe is almost always mishandled and glossed over in writing. (Exactly like what happened in this book.)

My rating simply mirrors my opinion on this book. I feel like I wasted my time. It's not very funny, nor was it very sad. Just so-so.... more>> Which is a shame because I really did find the first half of the book quite interesting. The characters were intriguing, and the system that worked against the MC was a cool idea that made me super eager to see how things could possibly work out for the MC. But somewhere along the line... It became a little too plain and dumb. If you enjoyed it, that's good and I'm glad. For the translators sake, I'll add an extra star to the rating.

But.. Maybe if the ML redeemed himself? Or okay, let the ML stay an a*shole but.. maybe if the author worked on a more satisfying conclusion to everything? Or even a satisfying build-up? The way the ML found out the "truth" was boring.. He didn't feel conflicted, didn't really think too much of it. Simply said "idc" and went on with his plans. And the way things developed.. Was boring. I would expect more with such a promising premise. Also.. Did ML even love the MC? Isn't this just an obsession... ? In these circumstances.. Then maybe.. this just needed to be more ruthless... ? (But that would make it too angsty hmm)

I don't think it's the worst of the worst or anything close to that, but it's definitely lacking. <<less

At first, the story was progressing pretty nicely.

Then it started going downhill. Please, do not ignore the tags, when you're going to read this book.
Spoiler
    • ML is a total yandere, obsessed with MC, and black-bellied
    • There are also r*pe scenes, so be careful
      if you're uncomfortable with it
    • MC doesn't even love Ml, I don't know what to say

The ending; I wouldn't count it as a HE b/c our MC is still stuck with Ml.

Poor dude only wanted to go home. I pity both of them b/c ML wants love while MC wants to return back.

Credits to the translator for their awesome work, however I felt this novel in itself was a disappointing read.

The beginning - mid section of the novel is really good, to the point where I started to mtl it myself; plot was alright and this novel heavily reminded me of s*um villain system x everyday the protagonist tries to capture me.

When the ML found out MC’s true nature, I was expecting romance, large amount of possessiveness and “eating vinegar” scenes, but as disappointing as it was, I didnt sense an ounce... more>> of romance between the MC and ML. ML’s love was basically one-sided with MC being forced to remain by his side, and even the possessive and jealousy scenes that usually makes me squeal in delight, has left bitter thoughts in my mind. <<less

This was really, really bad. Its so bad that I cannot fathom to understand why anyone would give this novel more than 2 stars.

Before you hit me with the "It's not for everyone!" "You should've read the tags" "The tags clearly says yandere!", I came into this novel with the expectation of it being a obsessive, red flag and toxic relationship. I've read MANY extremely toxic danmeis (monster, s*um villian) but NOTHING was as non-sensical as this. The main character was s*upid, the male lead was s*upid and the side... more>> characters were s*upid. The whole cast was unbelievably unbearable to read. The only redeemable and likeable character was Yan Gu. The writer clearly tried to indicate some sort of past relationship between Yan Gu and The MC's Ancestor (forgot his name) which I was adamantly interested in, but the writer never explains it! They insinuate it maybe every 20 chapters (Yan Gus ears blushing when MC tried to ask about his ancestor) but it leads on the practically nothing.

I kept on reading on the first basis, that ML finding out MCs identity would be interesting, but he doesn't even find out from his own eyes! He just asks his damn pet if he's the masked man or not! The second basis was that the part where ML sees MC after 7 years would be interesting but it wasn't in the slightest. The second arc (where MC goes back to the original world and ML gets reincarnated) was so unbelievably s*upid. I had a sliver of hope that ML would become slightly bearable, but he was the exact same as in the first arc. In a Novel extremely similar to this, s*um villian, The male lead Luo Binghe has possessive and toxic traits, but his character isnt unbearable and is actually well written! His character is comedic due to his constant crocodile tears, which makes the relationship nice to read. I can't say the same for this novel.

I dropped it the 3rd chapter into the second arc. <<less

Y'all are so whiny, if you just want a fluffy transmigration novel, read the f*cking tags. You can't just expect that this novel will have the same plot like the ones you've read 🙂

I actually like the story, since it's kind of a slow burn. The way the author slowly introduced the crux of the story will never make you feel that they just suddenly filled the holes and the plot it self. What really got me too was that the author did not make the MC lose his will.

Spoiler

It was actually emphasized that the MC was not in love, but just actually cared for the ML, since he's like his son. He also realised how f*cked up the story he made, and was just feeling indebted to the ML. I also like how the author did not magically erase the ML's crazy tendencies, just for a lovey-dovey ending. That's because his heart demon is one that's not easy to cure. He's the crazy crazy. Just //chef's kiss//

Wow... Um... It's a "Good End" if you see it that way...I guess... Personally, I was left with a bitter, sad, angry, confused feeling. This novel was pretty decent.... at first but excluding obvious plot holes, brain farts & very clear rushing, when you get closer to the end if you thought ML could be redeemed you were wrong it just gets worse. The Smut is just ok I give it a 2.5/5 I was surprised it even had some smut considering how strict China is about these things over... more>> there, the author really took a risk!

1st off Let's talk about ML:

Spoiler

ML isn't even a yandere, he's just a straight up psychopath & horrible person even before MC introduced himself to ML in the beginning, ML was already half blackened & scheming against every1 (no thanks to his sh*t family they speak about in the later chapters) ironically enough he acts just like the family he despised but much worse. He says he cares about MCs feelings & that he will not let him suffer but noOOooO! what does he go & do right after making those promises? HAH! Just a bunch of continuous lies & pain for MC. When MC went back to his original world ML still forced him to be with him albeit in a more passive aggressive way (considering they're in the modern era that has laws now.)

[collapse]

2nd off about MCs Incredibly LOW IQ family:

Spoiler

Its shown throughout the novel how much MC loves and misses his family but its a pity they don't seem to actually care much about him! As soon as MC got bk to his original world ML dupped MCs family & made them think MC was a s*umbag that slept around imp**gnating random women! He got a random kid tht looked similar to MC from an orphanage & falsified the DNA report to convince MCs family he was a manho (=_=) & what's really maddening is his family didn't even doubt at all that these people they don't even know (ML & the fake bby mamas) could be lying & straight up accused MC of being scum.

[collapse]

3rd off about MC:

Spoiler

MC has very Low IQ & EQ but hes a lovely lil idiot, very funny I just wish he was strong enough to fend off the people who say they "love" him but are just hurting him & I wish he stood up for himself more instead of just taking peoples ab*ses they throw at him.

[collapse]

4th off about the mysterious System:

Spoiler

All I have to say about this one is.... WHAT THE H*LL even was the objective of this sh*tty system? To tie an innocent fool to an OP s*umbag??? idk I won't say much here cuz authors usually leave a tremendous amount of plotholes when it comes to "Systems"

[collapse]

& finally the 5th & final, Lets talk about Ziyang Pei & his s*um brother Ziyang Shi:

Spoiler

Pei was my fav character but like most villains he suddenly has low IQ/EQ moments wn encountering the ML, I...... Feel bad for Ziyang Pei, He's portrayed as one of the main antagonists sure but everything he did was at least actually beneficial to MC. Hes a Tsundere & didn't realize just how much he actually loved MC till it was far to late. Wn MC is close to going bk to his original world you get to see a lil bit more of his personality & just like I thought bby Pei is just a lonely lil Tsundere! I was very sad when he betrayed MC to get the Gu bug from ML but he did it to fufill a promise & to save his lil brother. Though unfortunately in the end the brothers a s*umbag & killed MC claiming they were "equal" now but the debts Pei owed his s*um brother had looooong been paid & yet he tried to blame Pei for Yan gu's death but ironically Yan gu is alive & kicking. After that Pei walks away holding MC dead body holding some vain belief he can be revived... but ya'll know the path those type of story's take, it would prob end up being him pining away taking care of his past crushes body for hundreds if not thousands of years all in vain. As for Ziyang Shi even wn he gets Yan Gu back hes just as bad as ML the only diff is he ONLY tortures him he doesn't r*pe him.

[collapse]
My bby Pei Needs a redemption Arc of his own I wish he was the ML...

There's a difference between Cherishing someone & being Dangerously obsessed with someone. ML CLEARLY doesn't know or care to know that difference. smh <<less

I want to give this novel a real chance but if at one third of the way through nothing's happened yet apart from the author saying the same few things over and over again... I'm not wasting any more time.

Like, I get it, you transmigrated into your own novel so you know the tropes etc, but do you really have to mention these tropes every five f*cking lines? "He's doing so and so because he's the invicible protagonist" "He needs to go there to activate his golden fingers" "He can... more>> seduce any shimei at a glance because of his protagonist aura". These things needs to be said once. Then move the f*ck on with the plot please! I'm not so dumb that I need to re-read these things every other paragraph.

And it's not just with these tropes, it's everything really. "You can't escape from here without relying on my knowledge" "Demonic bodies are good nutrients for cultivation" "The immortal sable is most intelligent" "Cannon fodder characters can't do this/go there" You need to mention these things once for worldbuilding. After that please trust the reader to have a modicum of memory capacity and just move on with the plot.

I know that CN novels are published in instalments over the course of a long period of time but this does not excuse reading the same thing over and over in the span of a few chapters or even within the same chapters, especially when all these repetitions could be easily replaced by actual f*cking plot events. So annoying. <<less

The ML never actually loved MC. He is just obsessed. The MC has a very weak personality. He gave up way too easily. But I loved his interactions with Yan Gu and Wei He. Overall the story was good except the ending. He should have ended up with Yan Gu. The author's writing style is also good. They can make me laugh even in serious situations

I enjoy reading this novel a lot, but I also understand people's disappointment that they chose to give it a bad review. Anyway, I still think this novel is worth reading. Actually, I would give it 5 stars if the writer decided to make it longer. For more storylines from important characters in this novel, the writer might need at least 300-something chapters. However, since the majority of the story is from the MC's point of view, it is down to fewer chapters. I agreed that from the starting point... more>> the story is very similar to SVSSS's Mtxt, however, different from SSQ who just wanted to save his life, Qin Kaiyi doesn't accept the novel world as a real world at all. To him the world he transmigrated to is not a reality and he actually has a chance to go back to his world. Thus, all his focus was on completing the plot hole according to the quest from the "system" to go back to his real world.

After the main secret has been revealed, the story seems to be rushed with less explanation. It is then switching from the novel world to the modern world and the story is wrapped up in a modern world with 3 extras chapters. However, again the ending is satisfying. Just when you read it, it would help if you reason the connection from the plot that is given so that you understand why the story develops that way. Actually, the reader experience the same confusion as the MC, because we read from his perspective.

A lot of people hate the ML, but I think it is unfair because viewing from another perspective, the ML is quite vulnerable. So, my spoiler is more about how I see the ML as the main character.

I like the chemistry between the MC and the ML, Shen Feixiao. The MC was a straight man. He thought the ML was great, but thinking someone is great doesn't mean it makes your heart love them, and the MC was the character of this type. In fact, during their interaction, it had never occurred to him that the ML would had developed that kind of feeling toward him. In fact, both of them were not sure how they should feel about each other at all. For my interpretation, I would say the MC at some points had become the ML's ultimate goal to live and cultivate. The ML seemed to be mad and wanted to obtain the MC. I would say I understand his feeling. Because actually, the MC was supposed to play his role as a villain, but at the same time, he needed to help the ML to achieve his cultivation, which was complicated because how could you have to hurt someone and have to help them at the same time? So, he played another role that secretly help the ML. This gave more opportunities for younger ML and the MC to interact. For the MC, of course, he was only trying to complete his mission. But from the ML's point of view, the MC was his benefactor. However, since the MC had to conceal his identity, so, he was not able to give the ML much explanation which made all his actions appear suspicious. However, despite the doubt in his heart, the ML chose to trust him and like having him as his companion a lot. With two identities the MC showed up and left because either his mission was complete or he has already given the ML a willing helping hand. However, to the ML, it was like someone showering him with all the warmth and sweetness he had always wished for even with a small portion, just to leave him because they didn't need him in their life. I think he might feel so helpless to be helped by others, again and again, to be helped like never before would someone give him a helping hand in all those critical moments, but that someone actually didn't need him in their life at all.

While the MC was overwhelmed that he had to hurt others to go home, the ML fighting with his loneliness. He was in the position of an " If you are willing to treat me well then let's stay together" mindset. People would call it depending on each other, but the author wrote from the ML's point of view that he needs his MC as his life companion. Some readers give a bad review because they don't think the ML's feeling toward the ML is called love at all. But I think being willing to stay with someone together for life is a type of love. You can say love is willing to let someone go for a better life, as long as they feel safer. But people are different. It depends on what is the meaning of life to them. The ML is possessive because it is engraved in his heart that his life is complete as long as he stays with that someone. He too wants to have a good life and wanted to keep living but not with a hole in his heart. I remember when the ML asked himself how long would it take for him to keep loving someone-- to him, it is not long, but to still want to stay with that person for a lifetime is the choice that he had made and his heart is at peace with this choice. At some point, the ML is like someone who deep down in his personality has the quality of loving someone and caring for someone and it would be a waste if he lives in this world but cannot give them out. To him, having to take care of someone like the MC is just him living his life. It is also easy because he needs to focus only on the MC, and it is more likely become his habit to love the MC. He loves his life and he just wants to live his life which is complete if he has the MC. And his action is not too unacceptable, because the possibility that the MC should also agree that the ML can become his life companion is high.

Just again the ML personality is a little savage. He uses manipulation to eventually make the MC heatedly accept him into his life. For some reason, we might feel like, since the ML is a perfect someone, why would the MC play hard to get? Remember the MC is not a gold digger. He has his own principle and personality. I can say I understand the MC's tense feeling, because to straight people, it is more likely that we don't find another party attractive sexually and it would feel so unnatural. Not to mention, to the MC the ML is almost creepy: like someone who would always use power to control others without respect or whatever. Moreover, to the MC, he fears the ML. How can you love someone, when you look at them all you feel is fear. No matter, how pretty they are, for you it is just an uneasy feeling and pressure. Even though being loved is the best feeling, not all people want to reciprocate. It is like children leave their parents to marry someone else. No matter how much you love your parents, being willing to stay with them without having your own life could make you feel miserable and sad. We can tell that the MC's rejection, is not because he is playing hard to get but because he feels the pressure from the fact that he needs to willingly reciprocate and he has to be in that relationship for a lifetime. He was still working on understanding how he actually felt toward the ML but the ML taking action to tie the MC up with him caused the MC to become overwhelmed. This makes him feel like his decision to accept the ML might be not trustable. Not to mention that no matter what his decision is the other party would not let him goes and from now on his life has to adjust with the presence of the ML. But again no matter how grateful you are for their feeling you still want freedom and it would make you feel very uneasy. However, the ML is manipulative, showering the MC with love and care. As a result the MC finally accepts the ML. I also remember the MC said if the ML let him down he would kill the ML with his own hand. This is also implying that the MC confusion and feeling of pressure were because he also wanted someone that will promise to forever stay with him for a lifetime for real but not a moment of passion. Thus, they prove to be able to coexist. You can say they are depending on each other. But I would call it love because two people agree to become lovers to continue living their normal life and share all they have with that certain person until the day they left the earth is a high degree of love. <<less

When I started read it, I’ve really expected to be ab*sed and cry my souls out. Especially after I’ve read the reviews. But... it was a little sad, sometimes a little surprising. And that’s all. Even the ending is a happy one, in the end.

Yes, some may say that this ending is unclear, I agree. You can also say, it is not completely a happy ending, that’s partly true too. But this is a nice result after all the happened. And this is a realistic end. If they were separated... more>> it would feel unrealistic for me.

Also, I saw many people speak in reviews that they actually doesn’t have any love. It’s a difficult question. I can agree or disagree with it, because love is already something so philosophical to begin with. In the end and extras you can see that the relationship could still be developed, and they still can live happy in some comfort zone.

Yes, definitely the relationship road here is sad, toxic and mad. This is a true yandere, what’s more to expect. Maybe because I’ve read many novels about yandere I’m not shocked by how it’s ended or developed. Dunno.

I’ve put such rating because the story was boring, plot was very mediocre with plot holes and many question left. Also, it was disappointing, because I’ve really expected more of “tragedy” here, but it’s just a little sad novel to me with 50% expected outcome.

Read on your own responsibility. Don’t forget about warning and don’t read if it’s too tragic for you. <<less
