Reading this novel, everyone knew who was the ML and shipped them together incessantly, knowing that they will end up together from the very beginning. But as things went on for me at the very least, I always saw the word like, never love, not even once. Especially the ML who fell in a vicious cycle of obsession, and crazed desire for control. I have had my fair shares of redeeming Yandere ML and mutual love. I never saw the characters mutually falling and loving each other. MC was also very realistic as his character and complicated emotions towards ML were always pointed. MC hated ML for forcing him, he was unable to understand the others love, but also cared for the child whom he took care of in many forms and saw him grow up in some point. Their was also guilt and fear mixed with many other things.

ML used every means make MC be with him, even if he couldn't get his love. Things didn't come out very well in the cultivation world. Then when they got back to the modern world, ML used similar, manipulative methods, which were not as illegal such as forcing and illegal kidnapping, but used his background to make him stay with him. Then while letting him be free but made himself a rooted habit MC couldn't extract himself from and ML won the bet. What stood out to me is that in the last chapter of the main text it mentioned that "even though SFX (ML) loved QX (MC) he got tried of always loving MC so passionately, but this love had already become a scary habit that bound them both together. Living every day and taking/taken care of had become a habit. Which ML took advantage of to gamble to take the next step in this relationship with MC.

However through this entire chapter I had never been more heartbroken.

Especially as I had read the extra like chapter 88-90. That whole thing gave me a double visual of the possibilities in both the modern and cultivation world and what they were bound to become. My heart hurt when

ML just cannot accept MC leaving him in anyway possible, so he will love/lust/control/cage MC in every way possible.

i wasn't asking for some "romance" but the author should have stopped it when the MC and ML died and gave us a bit more information about the side story

the MC maintained being straight till the end lol (except in the ending). I love how he got traumatized because I'm tired of MCs who fall in love easily to their captors like wtf, have some pride.

In this case MC became used to the ML and ML has know that only wanted to be with MC. Their relationship is like a benefit relationship? Poor little kid, only five years old and ML is already giving him warning

anyways really good cast of supporting characters! I actually didn't get bored whenever yandere ML Shen Fei-something is gone since Qin Kai/Shi 's friends like Yan Gu (who has a crow beak somehow jinxes the situation) and Wei He (playboy flirt who at first says stuff like 'i want to top you!" But also will never do anything nonconsensual) brighten up an otherwise really dark story. And yeah I don't really want to spoil too much so that you'll enjoy the little black room chapters like I did.

not only does MC goes through mental breakdowns (with good reason, such as self-defense mu*der or feeling cornered) but the depression (which the ML didn't understand bc mental health is perceived differently in the novel world) and the eventual stockholm syndrome didn't come out of no where (if that makes sense? You'll genuinely sympathize with MC). The author's writing and pacing is so good.

ML's obsession carries on from his previous life to the modern world and like whenever he pretends to let the MC go it's actually a trap to bring the MC back to him. It does get funny when he pays a kid and a woman to make the MC's parents misunderstood him as s*um hahaha anyways the kid Qin Ziqi is actually adopted to be ML's heir initially. Now BIG SPOILER but the kid is also used as the ML's tool to give MC the illusion they're a family (keeps the MC sane by providing a sense of normalcy now that I think about it...). ML thinks of the kid as a pet (almost like how he treated eggplant sable) and poor kid saw ML and MC sleeping together - actually I won't spoil more lol but you might not know whether to laugh or cry at ML attitude towards MC's son. Kid (who is implied to grow up into a devil probably due to ML's twisted fathering) gets revenge by crying to MC "he said you didn't want me anymore wuwuwu" so like awww good luck to MC for raising a son while having a possessive and jealous hubby hahaha
