Growing up in an orphanage since he was a child, Tao Mu, who had suffered so much, never thought that his life was actually a result of picking up the wrong script.

Eighteen years ago, two children were born at the same time, but due to the negligence of the medical staff their name tags were switched. Tao Mu, who was supposed to be born in a wealthy family, was sent to an orphanage instead.

Eighteen years later, the mistake was discovered. Tao Mu originally thought everything could go back on track. However, his parents and siblings who were supposed to be the closest family disliked him deeply, lovers and friends also turned their backs on him.

Receiving such a shock, Tao Mu completely revealed his dark side, becoming a vicious cannon fodder that everyone hated. In the end he found himself utterly isolated and committed su*cide by jumping off a building.

After being reborn, Tao Mu was surprised to find that he actually lived in a book. The male protagonist in the book was the Silly White Sweet** who was the other baby that he had mistakenly switched identities with. As for him, he was just the vicious cannon fodder encountered by the Silly White Sweet in his sweet and pampered life.

Tao Mu: f*ck this plot, and f*ck this stereotypical routine. I won’t be playing along in this life!

In other words, this is a dog blood story of a highly provoked cannon fodder no longer mistreating himself to please anyone after being reborn. Instead he will be relying on himself to build an entertainment empire that will catapult him to the top.

** person who is s*upid but in a sweet way

***Just try it, this story may surprise you

To tell the truth, this story is really good. The pacing maybe a bit slow but if you can pass through quarter-first (about c70) I think it enjoyable. The character development and plot is very good, especially the later part is quite excited!!! I really love the MC and ML especially the MC he deserve the best.

[c31]

The plot is good but the pacing is really slow. There are many side character and many useless information that make me annoy the most so I... more>> skim some paragraph. But I still want to know what will happen so I'll continue reading.

There's also funny part like the MC Tao Mu is very calm till the director wonder if he have temper so he keep trying to get to the bottom of it several times until MC become impatient, so when angered, rather than biting he just start "discuss" the director mistakes at work. It really funny.

[c72]

Now I already familiar with the pace of this story and I think the plot is quit good (MC is really super OP) and that silly white lotus (Shen Yu) is very very annoying. Every time he appear I have to take a deep breath OH MY f*ckING GOD!!!

[c85]

Spoiler

WOW!!! The father and elder brother of Shen family already know of Shen Yu's halo and know that if they stayed with Shen Yu for a long time, they will have emotional effect. OMG...

The story itself starts and sounds like nothing new. When I first read it I had a feeling I've read it somewhere, but in time other differencies were shown in details. Although there were hooks at the beginning, which author didn't bring later (for example his friends that took part at the beginning, there was some twist about them in previous life, but in reborn life MC almost left them when he picked up his career), but many actions and consequences actually worked really well at other times, which was... more>> nice.

In short the storyline covers a timeline of several years when MC is reborn, tried to stay away from his original family, meets ML, they do business together, MC does good things along the way that help him grow too, he also helps and pays back a double to people who care and love him. He grows his business, he helps his friends, he shoots and produces movies and tv series, he tried to deal or more like avoid the neurosis of Shen Yu and live his own life happily without his biological parents and real family.

Details that I think make this novel differ are probably these:

    • MC takes an usual route in acting and that is he is an action actor. You won't see literary scripts. But what is interesting is that some scripts although not new, but at least detailed unlike many novels where filming is just passed by. MC is shown working really hard.
    • The twist at the end. Although it comes quite late and that's why the overall outline feels a bit unbalanced, but at least it brings some clarity to the rebirth reason and trigger. The obsession and the feelings of MC are nto because of a simple halo.
    • Emotional growth for MC, which is justified and ML's standpoint of unmovable and reliable mountain is also justified due to their life experiences.
    • There are nice elements of action and consequences that help it going. Like small details that happen in the story (e.g. When MC produces the movie, many older people come to theater, since they remember him and his deeds of organizing the fund that helped them, so it brought even more positive publicity).
    • Many characters are in line with their setting, although you might think they're too one-dimensional, but I liked the explanation given to why.
Overall it was a pleasant read, the only thing you really need to get a bit far for it to star get interesting (imo of course), I agree it was a bit long and there are many time the text just repeats the same notion just in different words (don't forget that authors also want to eat, so wordcount). But in general it was nice :)

P.S. I found this novel through the other novel of this author 'Stand-in alliance', which is also good ;) <<less

Yes, it’s long winded, but some of the details are actually interesting. And the twist close to the end was ok. Plus some of the characters are well rounded and grow while the story progresses. I got a bit bored towards the end but our couple was still cute so I really enjoyed this overall. Kudos for likable MC and awesome ml, they also feel real and not 2D. The writing could be polished but at the same time it’s perfect as it is, I know I contradict myself, but... more>> the long descriptions help with the plot immersion and help bring the reader into the atmosphere and the culture (at the same time if one is less patient it’ll get boring). The breaking of Shen Yu’s character is good and well done as its conclusion is foreshadowed prior in some parts of the novel. The Shen family status of still being in limbo is well deserved, a somewhat humane but well deserved ending (still don’t like the sister, she’s brainless), the side characters don’t just disappear and play their parts. As I said overall a good novel. <<less

Complete (100% read) Highly recommended! The unique choice of specifically starting in '07 just before the worldwide rescission it, was frankly an amazing choice for this story. Its a very well executed rebirth revenge style story, but the added depth of such a specific setting grounded alot of the dog blood scenes and added a really interesting perspective to the plot overall. While I do think there are a few points where the author lost track of how many ongoing plotlines/characters were involved, overall its a deeply satisfying story and... more>> the conclusion was both extremely fitting and really interesting to read. I dont want to write any spoilers so I will simply say, the author did a wonderful job making sure I knew EXACTLY the motivations of each character and thus both my love and hate is sincere :)

Surprisingly good, overall. The author’s descriptions get a bit repetitive and a few parts (especially ending) are overly-sweet cringey for me, but I found myself smiling a lot at these unique characters’ interactions and going through the joys and sorrows with almost all of them. I liked the ideas of hard work, doing your best, cherishing those who love you, and was really amazed by the patriotism that was presented. Also amazed at the entertainment circle portrayed in this series - very believable in my mind’s eye.

The reincarnation plot was... more>> okayyyy I guess... Well, I’m fine with the idea of finally letting go of what you can’t control. <<less

The storyline is overall okay. At first it was satisfying due to the face slapping and then things got really tedious... and brain dead.... But I thought the ending was nicely wrapped up!

Main things that bothered me were:

    1. Author explaining too much into things that were unrelated to the development like the thoughts of each character everytime some conflict happens. I ended up skipping like 1/5 to 1/4 of the story cause most of the chapter was just giving the scene a detailed backstory; I even thought I missed some important plot cause there was no dialogue! Most of it was praising the MC and I really didnt want to read the same thing over and over again. Even extras of the story got a detailed segment of what their thoughts were and overexplaination of why they did what they did.
    2. The amount of skill sets he has and the author explains it as he earned it all in his last life. Basically in the second life, he earned no new skill, only minimal improvements....
    3. Prior to figuring out why the MC's enemy is always aiming at MC, he kept getting beaten down and at some point it turned into ab*se. It was unbearable to read at some point.
      Spoiler

antagonist was swapped by the sister and was not the real son of their family, once that was exposed, the mom blamed everything on the antagonist for occupying her son's life and position when it was her daughter that played the sickening prank. Like they are so brain dead. What was an infant supposed to do??? Crawl back into their bed cause clearly they knew what was going on

      [collapse]
    4. Majority of the people who don't like the MC have the SAME EXACT THINKING AND BAIN CIRCUITS! I understand that the MC is meant to be the subject of envy and jealousy, but the author could have gave them a personality instead of EVERYONE hating on the MC cause (1) sucessful (2) handsome (3) sharp-tongue (4) have backers (5) jealous that they are close with the antagonist even though he isn't the one to initiate or cling to the antagonist
Things I did like:

    1. The plot was great at the begining and I really appreciated the details and development of the MC.
    2. The reveal of the ML and their relationship had a smooth and really nice development even if it was a little later into the story.
    3. The ending where everything was settled and wrapped up. But you could tell they kinda rushed to wrap up with phrases similar to :finally settled down and ready to spend a lifetime together, smth like that" and it wasnt even the last chapter...
      Spoiler

it was an engagemeng party bro, like less than 20 chapters until the end

      [collapse]
haha so ig its a thing I dont like, oops
    4. The relations of the adopted family of the MC was nicely written and it feels cozy :))
    5. The characters discovered the Halo effect on the antagonist, which is very satisfying!
Overall 3/5. Would I read it again? No. Would I recommend? No, unless you have nothing to do and like brain-ded novels to pass time.

Hrmm, I came here expecting a typical rebirth chinese drama so I'm not really that disappointed. I recommend this to people who isn't into plot that much and is just looking forward to genius MC trampling people who wronged them. Basically its jut good for light read, if you're not expecting a solid plot, then give this a try

If there's anything that I'm dissatisfied with, its that author is too wordy-- And it's not the good kind of wordy. There's too many unnecessary informations that fills up a whole single... more>> chapter. Every information has multiple explanation, normally that's fine but these information doesn't really need thorough explanation to be able to understand?? it's like the author is trying too hard, afraid that readers can't understand.

Too many random explanation about this person that person, this work that work etc...

Honestly I was reading everything at first, then began skimming the parts that are somehow irrelevant and doesn't affect the plot (there's a lot, I tell u) Glad I did, I managed to finish the whole novel.

I have no complaint with the romance, I expected everything in it but I absolutely like the little banters, it's funny and entertaining.

Spoiler

oh and ngl, I immediately lost interest after Shen yu's downfall. At first I was a little sympathetic with him, because of the fact that Shen yu was raised to be naive and dumb by the shen family, so all my hate was invested on the shen family and although I find him annoying, I felt like it's understandable considering the pampered life and the deliberate suppression of his EQ and IQ development and since he didn't really do any crime worthy of death, he was simply annoying and tactless throughout the novel. So I felt like he deserves to at least have peace in the ending, maybe have him live somewhere far where he can still live be as dumb as he can.

though, through the end of it, Author decided to make him completely nuts who started thr whole tragedy. I find the whole situation to be clumsily done, just to end with a conclusion that shen yu is completely evil. I prefer if Shen yu is really a genuine naive character with prince syndrome. Then I wanna have at least 5 chapter dedicated to him where he is slowly coming to realize his shortcomings and beginning to understand where he f*cked up, what he did to end up in misery and how dumb he was- I want him to realize and deeply regret rather than see him turn crazy.

The Author is quite patriotic especially with the talks about laws. Though that's a good point where you take revenge legally.

MC (TM) and ML (LXH) are meant to be together! I like the twist of the story, though half way through I already had a feeling about it. MC (TM) was the real (SY) while (SY) is the real (TM) during the first time line, (SY - the current one) is very jealous with the MC in their first life/timeline. He wants to be SY so bad that he used a ritual or something like that and they switched.

The reason for the cycled reincarnation is about their 'obsession' especially the obsession of current SY and MC. MC's obsession is to be with the Shen family, to be recognized by his family even in their first timeline. While the current SY's obsession is to be like the MC. The cycled reincarnation caused some disappearance of certain emotions and left only with obsession. Until the MC breaks his obsession, he was able to find his way back and find his soulmate the ML. The ML and MC love each other but MC died while killing Zhou Yan (he was the boyfriend of MC in every timeline that wants revenge with the Shen family.) Zhou Yan killed MC's elder brother and father for revenge. In first timeline MC's father and brother love him so much, when they died, MC's mother cursed MC along with his sister Shen Yan. Their family is quite complicated.

I was just happy in the last timeline, MC was able to obtain a true family and found his love life.

Shen Yu's brain is quite rotten and filled with water, all he does is cry cry cry. And I also hate it. Quite sissy that it's not appropriate anymore.

There are times, the novel got boring for me But around 250+ the twist was there regarding their rebirth etc. <<less

Currently reading but pausing for a bit because the chapters are dragging so much.

Romance is really slow and there is hardly any tension which isn’t that fun tbh.

I’ll probably continue later if I feel like it but I’m in the mood for a different genre since this isn’t hitting as well as it was in the beginning.

Reminder for myself:

This was a decent read till about chapter 277. However, I couldn't finish it. I became bored. There were a lot of "jumping the shark" moments in this which was exciting with quite a twist on reincarnation and rebirth; but honestly when the happy moments are too blessed and the "just desserts" for the villain are even a bit too cruel for the actions of the good guy. It leads to becoming anti-climactic and boring. Almost like (I have about 2o chapters remaining but everything is over-drawn and too happy).... more>> It became too much. I will finish reading those last 20 chapters, but I need to read something else to get out of the too-sappy headspace. <<less

Dropped

This novel started well and after reading 170 chapters I feel sorry for Shen Yu. It's not his fault his character in the novel is an innocent white lotus. I feel like the MC and the ML are kicking a puppy whenever they argue with him, he is not vicious or mean and honestly doesn't understand why people dislike him

I can't finish reading because I feel more empathy for the "villain" of the story than I do for the MC and ML

The book was great! Think it got me out of a reading slump because I finished this book without giving up halfway inbetween.

Now, what was SO unbelievable was (lets ignore this whole book is fictional, shall we?) the MC mentioned "important future event this, important event that blah, blah" for both events he was invloved in and not involved in but gangnam style didn't even get one single mention. That did come out in 2012, exactly in the time frame MC began flourishing.

I loved them, though. They were so adorable,... more>> kept cackling while reading.

I’ll do a short review without spoilers since there are already other comments. I really enjoyed the read especially since the author didn’t shy away from the sand sculpture plots when they had the opportunity to be humorous but also to emphasize the really over the top weirdness of being in a book and some characters having a plot halo lowering IQ and drawing aggro.

the characters are all well fleshed out even the antagonists which really maies good interactions.
