Growing up in an orphanage since he was a child, Tao Mu, who had suffered so much, never thought that his life was actually a result of picking up the wrong script.

Eighteen years ago, two children were born at the same time, but due to the negligence of the medical staff their name tags were switched. Tao Mu, who was supposed to be born in a wealthy family, was sent to an orphanage instead.

Eighteen years later, the mistake was discovered. Tao Mu originally thought everything could go back on track. However, his parents and siblings who were supposed to be the closest family disliked him deeply, lovers and friends also turned their backs on him.

Receiving such a shock, Tao Mu completely revealed his dark side, becoming a vicious cannon fodder that everyone hated. In the end he found himself utterly isolated and committed su*cide by jumping off a building.

After being reborn, Tao Mu was surprised to find that he actually lived in a book. The male protagonist in the book was the Silly White Sweet** who was the other baby that he had mistakenly switched identities with. As for him, he was just the vicious cannon fodder encountered by the Silly White Sweet in his sweet and pampered life.

Tao Mu: f*ck this plot, and f*ck this stereotypical routine. I won’t be playing along in this life!

In other words, this is a dog blood story of a highly provoked cannon fodder no longer mistreating himself to please anyone after being reborn. Instead he will be relying on himself to build an entertainment empire that will catapult him to the top.

The translation was really good!

The story, on the other hand, felt more and more like a soapbox that the author wanted to use to disseminate their beliefs, values, and ideas (proselytizing on everything from adoption to fake contests, fake data, speech on the internet, SARFT, Hong Kong, etc.), rather than just telling a coherent story.

The author also has some unusual/twisted views about the world:

    • For example, even from the very beginning, the author calls the SY (OG "protagonist") the cuckoo in the bird's nest, way before the later reveals/spoilers about the magic sauce, which was baffling because:
      kids cannot choose their parents or to be born; SY owes TM (MC) because he took TM's resources is a logical fallacy. Author repeatedly uses language (from netizens, from the protagonist's head, from the narrator) to push blame on a 1 week year old baby for being switched at birth...
    • Lowkey mysogynist, as all the respected elders in the family or any older people with redeeming features are all men yet again. The only women (Su mom / sister) are shown as extremely crazy/irrational/simple-minded compared to the men (who are manipulative but still have redeeming qualities, unlike the women). There is only one "positive" female character in the entire novel (one of the actresses). Everyone else are just angry hysterical vulgar fishwives or gold diggers.

Anyway, I really recommend [Epiphanies of Rebirth] if you like a rags-to-riches story with rebirth elements. It's tons more wholesome, has just as much detail as this novel, but in the right parts.

It also doesn't spend 50, 000 words on detailing every reaction by netizens every other chapter to up the word count.

Good novel, it think 4.0 do them justice, the author style is written detailing every part of plot... I like it.. but Idk maybe bcs they so focus on detailing on the production of film.. and they had 3 or 4 (?) Film on it so they overuse it, not make it boring but make them not balance, the sweet is there but for me.. they can't balance the detailing of working plot.. the family plot is like that too.. still good.. recommended

It's a great story I like it on the first chapters but as the plot grow it become worse and worse

After dilly dallying for so long I finally finish the story. Maybe if you like dog blood the kind of that really much maybe this is for you

Quite interesting and comedic. It was quite a fun read. The plot and its twists are at times expected, and at times unexpected. Even though it took me about a month (23 days to be exact) to finish this novel, it just means that there are interesting parts of the novel which I cna zoom right through and there are boring parts that are abit too lengthy and slow, I think it is overall an entertaining read, would recommend it!

In my case I have a love/hate feelings with this novel!

I'm still reading it, I love the chapters with Tao Mu and his adopted family and the Ml, many of these chapters are fluffy but it is hard for me the chapters with Sheng Yu and specially Sheng Yan, she is super annoying and get frustrated when I read about those two brainless s*upid brother/sister!

The Sheng family is also annoying except the older son, for sone reason I love this mf, sadly his family don't let him go full potential... more>> even though he is not a good person!!! <<less

I'm honestly surprised by the low rating but I can probably guess a few factors of that. Still, all in all, I think the novel is pretty great.

  1. The starting few tens of chapters can be quite boring to those used to high intensity, action and face slapping filled novels. However, they also serve as a foundation of MC's later progress.
  2. Some details later on can be quite lengthy, just judging on the inner monologue alone, which can be both a downside and advantage. It is a disadvantage in that it may not be accomodated by the reader's patience and it can be an advantage in that it builds up MC's musings and personality as well as the basis of this and that decisions.
For the advantages, MC can be very rational, some... more>> side characters are interesting, ML is quite the doting personality, antagonists and cannon fodders have some shaped characters and defined personalities unlike in other novels where they're just brushed aside as simply jealous or narrow-minded.

Overall, I'm looking forward to this novel's completion. <<less

I wish the book ended somewhere around 200. The reincarnation arc ruined it for me. It was great when the main characters filled this morally grey area, yet you had fixed antagonists as well. I originally felt that both Shen Yu & Tao Mu were tragic because neither chose their fates. Shen Yan was the cause of this tragedy that twisted their fates, whereby one died & the other lived well. But because of this arc, only Shen Yu was vilified & all other antagonists got away with it.

Phew this... more>> must be the most OP MC I've ever read:

    • How did he fulfill academic requirements while managing a business and acting, WITHOUT assistants or management team?
The writing was very verbose. But I still admired that it felt like a literary work not laden with pop culture vocabulary or style.

This was incredibly humorous, especially mc's interactions with his friends. <<less

Not bad not bad!! Loved the plot as well as the revelation of the truth about this whole reincarnation thing at the end. Great plot tbh. I love smart characters so this novel really satisfied me by giving me the MC and ML. Also, the relationship between the MC and ML is so cute!!!! Loved the way they interacted.

The ending with ShenYu kinda surprised me but ... more>>

Lastly, to put it in a good way, the story is really well written with all the details there to read. But in a slightly bad way would be I guess the story is wayyyy too long at some parts. But overall everything's great. A little dramatic and all but I kinda enjoyed the drama haha. For those that live reading faceslaps this novel really has a lot so do check it out. I also loved LiuYao and MengQi. Gosh they are so cute!! :&Gt; <<less

worth the read. I love the character development. The MC may look too overpowered but the character development is more on the emotional and mental aspect.

although the antagonist shen yu is like a c*ckroach. He still played his role well in irritating me.

Enjoyed catching up even though I think I had read most of these and forgot to mark progress. I recommend waiting until this one is complete. Pacing is a bit slow, I would not have read it if I remembered more of it. Waiting until it's done to catch up.

I think this story is really fun. I like the plot, the MC, the ml, their schemes and I laugh a lot in some parts.

But what I like the most is how some characters can see that they are being draw to shen yu protagonist halo, even though they don't know about the story. I also like how the MC life totally changed after chapter one and how he is in constant fight against the plot because he wants to protect those who are really his family.

And I really like... more>> how I fell that the characters who see those abnormalities and our MC that is trying to survive and break the story plot is actually making this story characters make the world break from a fictional one to a real one (this is just my thinking in reading until the chapter I am now, I also don't think it have spoilers so thats why I didn't use spoiler tag).

This spoiler is actually a theory I created while reading and I really think the author would be a genius if this was actually what he meant in the end, fell free to not read it (also it contains a bit of spoilers).

I didn't finish the story already but I'm kinda expecting that shen yu story was actually like the "villain who is reborn and try to not be wronged by the protagonist" kind of story and MC was Tao mu was actually the protagonist who made things difficult for shen yu, in a story where the shen family found his son tao mu and abandoned shen yu. And now we have this story where the true protagonist (tao mu) try to get his "protagonist" halo again in a different way. He doesn't care about shen family anymore, doesn't want to deal with the shen family (apart from getting revenge for his last life), and already have a family who truly loves him in a way that when family couldn't in his last life, also he tries to fix the problems that the shen yu being the protagonist made for his true family and friends (he can also find some plot holes in shen yu story that wasn't explained or well written and show to us), and because he is acting this way the whole shen yu story plot is disrupted and the starts to fall apart. I don't know if this is the true intention of the story because I didn't complete it yet but I created this theory and I kind wish this will be the end because it would be really. cool... The whole transition of protagonist-villain between shen yu and tao mu would be really well though.... and I also fell a bit that the characters gaining this conscience... and the destruction of shen yu halo is actually making this world turn more a real world ans not a novel one.

Also as some people said and I forgot to write here this story:

  • Isn't about tao mu trying to be the true protagonist (because he is in a revenge path and loath people whose IQ was downed by shen yu protagonist halo to death) and taking shen yu place.
  • Isn't about shen yu getting in the actors/stars circle, he just happens to love acting and also he wants to be free of one of the shackles that he have in his last life
  • He doesn't get to powerful from nowhere. As explained in the novel, shen yu have a pretty high IQ and can learn to do things pretty fast. In his last life he learned all kinda of things (apart from the things he learned before 18 yo) from enterprise and financial management to martial arts. He also is a kinda of lunatic and have OCD when he decide to do something he goes mad until he do the thing perfectly. I think the author decide to let the "past life learning experience" for a lot of things just to not let the story being to long.
  • All in all tao mu is reincarnated and only wanted to do things to protect himself and his dear ones when he reaches this goal he only want to enjoy life.

The story, in general, was very enjoyable. Comedic when it needs to be, protagonist is OP with a reason, romance is just right, ending was satisfactory (enough), and some characters are unreasonable af like usual. So nothing really new.

In the middle of the story, when Shen Yu and Yan Sheng got together, you can only imagine how agitated I was when they try and reason Tao Mu's actions as him looking up to them and being jealous of them (the latter mainly for Shen Yu since he's always convincing himself with that crap.)

And his subtle yet not subtle dragging of Tao Mu in every scandal that he's in—scheming in the guise of innocence and friendship.

Also by chapters 269-274, I found it a bit difficult to read through for some reason. The thought process of Shen Yu was really messed up and made me uncomfortable. Jealousy seriously made him so vicious *shudders*.

Tao Mu getting together with Li Xiaoheng was just right. You might say that he's irrelevant to the "original book" at first but you'd realize just how relevant he is to their various reincarnations. Yes, it's not a reincarnation from a book but a reincarnation out of multiple reincarnations because of Tan Yu (Shen Yu) 's interference.

This novel is super interesting. Upon reading the summary I had low expectations since this kind of story has been done many times before but as I kept reading I realized how different it was. The acting/entertainment circle aspect is super intriguing and our MC is very talented. I’m biased towards stories like these and I cant wait for more chapters :)

It's pretty easy to understand the MTL so I was able to read it all in one go.

Besides the common storyline of the reborn MC tries to create a better life, there are a lot of deeper themes within the story that add depth. It touches on negative side of humanity such as greed, obsessions, malice and anger. The story also discusses family, unconditional love, and hope.

I also liked the MC and ML as characters. Their relationship was cute and the ML wasn't some Overbearing CEO. Both had flaws and... more>> insecurities. They were able to grow with each other, as well as with their families and friends.

I wouldn't say it's the best story I've read, but it was entertaining and held my attention. I have the terrible habit of dropping a story once the characters get together, but the questions of "when will X happen? Why did XX happen? Why are AA and BB connected?" kept me hooked. For an almost 300 chapter story, that is a feat. <<less
