One day, Song Shuhang was suddenly added to a chat group with many seniors that suffered from chuuni disease. The people inside the group would call each other ‘Fellow Daoist’ and had all different kinds of titles: Palace Master, Cave Lord, True Monarch, Immortal Master, etc. And even the pet of the founder of the group that had run away from home was called ‘monster dog’. They would talk all day about pill refining, exploring ancient ruins, or share their experience on techniques.

However, after lurking inside the group for a while, he discovered that not all was what it seemed…

The first 100 chapters are kinda borung (both in novel and manhwa, yeah manhwa version cant save it). Later it get better and became quiet enjoyable to read. It better than most s*upid nonsense chinese novel out there. I find the comedy not that good, the fight sence is just hella dumb that throw all the logic away cause the villains are a bunch of dumbass. But overall decent novel worth to read.

i rate it 3.5 for now cause MC still sometime make me angry for how yes man he... more>> is (still bearable), he hardly says no, even if he said no the arthur will force him to do it anyway and he will just go with the flow like there no helping it (just like those japanese always say shikata ga nai neh)

Edit: down to 3 star cause same jokes are reused too many freaking times now it become really lame and annoying. We can see from those jokes MC is trully a M (take all the ab*se that arthur give him nonstop and still act like it is ok to go for another round of ab*se). What a shame when I read 1000 chapter already and still need to drop it.

I think the most enjoyable moment I read in this novel is when MC mercilessly hit the disobedient children butt, like he can trully do something else besid be kind and forgiving.

And the biggest joke in this novel is White, not a good joke but just bad bad joke. One or two times it was funny but when u keep dragging it more, it became really frustrating to read and he now is a nuisance to read for me.

So many pp seeking death in this novel that make me feel like characters just have no brain and it's not that kinda of silly comedy like konosuba but just dumb af. <<less

The novel is good compare to the other Chinese novel. The pace is a bit slow, so you should consider before reading it. The contents are quite new and pretty funny, but there are lots of chapter that flooded with unnecessary chatter and convos. The author also over used some of the joke. The plots went messy after 1500 chapters, but considering this novel has more than 3000 chaps, it is still in acceptable range.

Great comedy, relatable MC. There's some love interests but the romance doesn't develop. Part of the premise is that the MC has heaven defying luck so crazy coincidences happen often.

It does a lot of good things, and suffers from some serious problems.

The main problem is that it won't let anything go. Ever. Anything that happens, happens again, and again, and again. It's not just limited to any part of the story either. Some problem pops up? Yeah, it'll get solved, and then reoccur a fair few times - often in the span of just literally a few chapters. The author comes up with some way to express something? Yeah, it'll be used constantly for everything. For example, at some... more>> point a few hundred chapters in the author realized they could express things as 'points' and use that to give relative comparisons. Now it's all points. Any time any kind of thing comes up, it's described it as points. It's all points.

This also shows up in a things that could be considered as good or bad. Namely, everything is a Chekov's gun. Everything will recur. On the one hand it can be nice to see things actually tie together, and on the other hand... the author doesn't give too much of a sh*t about how they do it. That random item that showed up a long time ago once? Yeah it'll make another appearance all of the sudden. What happened to it in the mean time - where it was, why it was kept, all these things - will be utterly ignored. So... good, but also bad. It also means the author even feels the need to occasionally go out of their way to make fun of all the coincidences that happen. Because again, nothing can be let go of. If it appeared in the story once, it will appear again, no matter what it takes. And often all it takes is a sentence or two proclaiming what a coincidence it is. I'm sure this will also become a thing at some point, because... well it appeared in the story before, so it can't just be left can it? <<less

I would have loved to give this novel 5 stars but the one most annoying point I hate in WN appeared in this one so I won't. The novels starts good, really good. The settings, the characters including the MC and side characters are interesting and have different personalities. The plot was also entertaining. I read other novels with similar theme but I can say that this one is the best among the chat-group novel type. so where is the problem?

Spoiler

The MC should have been an ordinary human accidentally dragged into this chat group, followed by some supernatural events that changed his life. The MC had no knowledge about cultivation nor was he even qualified but with help of the other members and some amazing (tooo unreal) bullsh*t luck, he made a fast progress (tooooo d*mn fast). I had no problem with that at the beginning and even found it interesting (I read this novel not long after it was released. This plot progress was still fresh especially after I got bored of the old CN school [The underestimated tr*sh MC that attract hatred no matter where he goes or what he does])

But everything started to look like they only happen around the MC and for his sake, whether it's the past, present or the future. A lot of content was illogically stuffed in the story (si-fic, western fantasy, ancient and modern cultivation,... etc) just to make the MC look cool. Especially after 1500 chapters it just became the MC's one-man-show and after 2000 it became annoying.

The MC held titles and positions way above his current power but somehow people just buy it. the existence of other characters started to fade away (only his harem remain)

The novel could be more interesting if it wasn't overly centered around The MC and if author handled mixing worlds and different cultures in a better way.

[collapse]

Since the novel lost its unique element and became another ordinary The-MC-xx-god Xianxia novel I decided to drop it. But as one of the first novels I read with this style and also one of the few (very few) I read past 2000 ch I'll give it 4 stars <<less

1-250 chapters are fun. "Look how clumsy or s*upid these cultivators are" joke had a lot of potential.

However, after chapter 250 we get drawn-out jokes, like three guys stole a magically modified tractor and got into an accident - 5 chapters. We're hurrying to the competition on the flying sword - 5 chapters. We're preparing for another competition while insignificant characters come and go - 20 chapters. A parcel is arriving and everybody are surprised by the delivery van - 5 chapters.

The pace became very slow and jokes are repeating.... more>> I found myself scrolling through chapters waiting for boring events to end, just to find the beginning of another boring event.

I can easily rate the beginning of the novel as 5 stars but only 3 for the rest. <<less

If I wanted to give this a brutally honest rating, it would probably be a 4/5. There are many good aspects to this series but it's far from a perfect read. The start of the series is the best part, where the MC is slowly stepping into the cultivation world, getting smacked over the head with reality each time he goes in expecting traditional Xianxia elements, and the humor is set just right. This part was definitely a 5/5 - it perfectly leverages your experiences with the genre to provide... more>> humor and entertainment.

However, later chapters seem to have spiraled out of control. Whereas earlier chapters introduce antagonists just above of MC's power level and let him resolve problems through cleverness, later chapters now have him cling onto the thigh of various plot device characters, and the only way to balance this out is to introduce similarly overpowered antagonists, recklessly scaling up the threat levels from army-level to universe-level like your typical Xianxia but skipping about 10 volumes of escalation. Wait, why I am I still giving this a 5/5 again?

It's still an enjoyable read and I continue to follow the series because I'm invested in the continued development of the setting. It still retains some of the humour and twists that the initial chapters brought. But in the end, it loses a good chunk of what gives the series so much of its charm to devolve halfway to your typical Xianxia escalation series.

Being a half-step above other series I've read and enjoyed in this genre, I'm comfortable giving this a 5/5 rating. But it could have been better. <<less

One if the best of the best novel I read. At first I was skeptical on reading this since I was used to cultivators from ancient setting but I tried to give it a shot. This was one of the best decision I made in my life! Just love the story and the adventures!

Spoiler

Gotta note it gotta note it. The Whites meet at chapter 1584 lol

I felt this is kind of overrated. Indeed the story was kind of funny, but the fact it's way too slow makes it boring after you've read a good amount of chapters of it.

  1. Personal Comment : Bringing joy to read this kind of story, to be honest kinda wish I was the main character and join one of the cultivator group chat lolll
  2. Story Related : The story inside the group chat, the personality of each members shown on their chat, is really top one. I can't say better than this " I spent entire night laughing while reading the stories " simply because I also want to know what the other seniors on the group chat are talking lollll
Good job, and thank you for creating... more>> such stories <<less

Long, and very much worth it. You'll get s**ked into reading it for hours, maybe even days! A great break from OP, angsty and idiotic MCs. The author gives life to each character and they're not just flat. No harem so far (and I hope never), the girls don't immediately like him. MC himself is reasonable and likeable, helpful but not a holy mother.

Highly recommend to read this, it's definitely in my top list of favorite novels.

One of the few webnovels that would really make laugh and giggle! Worth the read. For people who says the humor is forced, well, that is your take. For me though, it's a good vacation from all those sad and full of angst webnovels.

It's my first choice for comedy genre web novel. The story is interesting with good world building and interesting side character. Like the previous person said, the comedy is typically situation comedy and It's done right so even when you already know what the punch line will be, It will still be funny.

A lot of the story is setup and uses multiple povs to describe the same events. It makes the story seem slow paced, predictable, and repetitious. But it also makes the characters and world feel more fleshed out, as well as making the story seem more earned for. A lot of side characters get introduced out of nowhere and most of the time they affect the plot greatly, but sometimes they don't affect it all. It could give you the feeling of where did that guy come from... more>> or who was that guy again? <<less

Quite a funny and simple story. No random tr*sh talking or slauthering. People behave kindly but also resolute. Enemies are not too s*upid. No random looking down on people who are weaker. MC is not a scheming psychopath with sadistic and violent tendencies. Only 4 stars the story lacks romance and a plot. At least for now.

Its good modern mix in martial arts type of book but something I feel like u cant marathon though... Also not as funny as I thought itll be from the other comments. If you are a new reader though this will likely get u hooked, but it was hard for me to get into as the writing style / pace made it semi boring to read for me as I read a lot

My personal nomination for the sensible chuckle of the year. Definitely worth binge reading.

If you're looking for a high quality comedy novel, look no further.

If you thought Library of Heaven's path was already as funny it can possibly get, you are merely a frog in the well.

... more>> Embark on a mythical journey through ---- the normal modern world. There are some people who like to play superheroes and talk about cultivation all day, fueled by their chuunibyou energy, except maybe they don't exactly have chuunibyou after all?!

This novel is funny af to the point that I can't imagine anything ever being more funny.

Spoiler

Lo and behold the might of the magical fire-controlling treasure powered by the magical might of a mysterious force called electricity, the [Boiler]

Fear the mighty magical beast which is called [the chinese pekingese]

[collapse]

If you like chinese humor (and trolling) but find simple face slapping too boring and repetitive, then look no further. This novel's setting is extremely unique and creative, you won't find anything similar, which is why it's hard to make comparisons.

The story is progressing at a nice pace too, as per usual for CN novels, the first 50-70 chapters are pretty tame, but from chapter 100 on, things escalated quite fast and in unexpected directions.

I absolutely adore the unique world and the eccentric, yet likeable characters.

On a side node: This novel is even better/funnier if you've read a bit of other xianxia/wuxia/xuanhuan before, as you'll understand certain references.

Also I feel like every 2nd character in the novel is a troll. However unexpectingly, this does not keep the plot from developing seriously.

10/10 would sell myself to human traffickers to afford being able to buy it. (Read the novel to get the reference) <<less

I totally enjoy reading this. It is refreshing to not see people constantly shouting "You're courting death!" or 'unexpectedly' found a treasure and other similar Xianxia elements.

The downside is just the MC's character is way too generic. Although it makes sense since he is originally a normal person but still...

It is okay. Slow phase. But and interesting read.

I got lots of good laugh,

But for those who are aiming to see a fast growth MC. This is not IT. It is understandable.

What I find disturbing is, there are characters getting inserted for slapstick purpose and in the end will be forced to seem like they have a purpose and be part of the main story.
