For My Derelict Favorite

Description

I entered my favorite romance-fantasy novel, which I have read many times.

Thanks to the body of a wealthy commoner, I bought the status of a fallen aristocrat, attended a noble family’s gathering and observed the romance of the characters in the original novel.

I wanted to return to the real world after witnessing the ending.

But somehow, even after the ending, I was not freed from the body I possessed and remained living in the original novel.

As a result, I acquired the stories behind the scenes that I refused to comprehend.

My favorite sub male lead, Caelus, has died.

Living impoverished in the original work without him, I eventually fell ill and died.

Now, I wanted to return to reality.

However, the irony of fate has returned me to the end of the novel overnight. This is definitely… to save my beloved, right?

I shamelessly loved this one. If you are sick of the isekai romances where the FL swoops in and her protagonist halo makes everything just fall in line unrealistically and everything is just too darn easy, this one is for you.

The slow burn aspect of how the MC and ML solidified their relationship was just GLORIOUS. It was also so much more realistic than a lot of the isekai novels, where the OG heroine who serves cider and face-slapping to the establishment then becomes the crown princess discovers that her... more>> being Not Like The Other Girls is actually a huge detriment in politics, and her pious posturings only serve to exacerbate delicate political situations instead of everyone just falling into line with her Because She IS Different And Righteous. I LOVED that - especially since it ended up with her Happy Ending being a Bad Ending in the end - the 2nd ML (who is the ML of this story) ends up broken from her unfeeling and self-righteous treatment and her marriage falls apart under the pressure of reality. The FL who isekai'd in is just an ordinary person - yes, she's smart, and she and about 3 years of knowledge of what will happen in general, but she isn't all powerful, exceptionally smart, or has a protagonist halo - she's just THERE for her ML (the OG 2nd ML) when he needs it, as his best friend married the OG FL and they rejected him for his underhanded dealings that protected them and gave them their HE. He is broken, and the FL gives him the space and encouragement to heal without forcing herself on him or expecting him to reciprocate - and yes, he eventually does, but for her that's not the point. The point is that he DOES heal, not that she needs him to love her back. It's refreshing and sweet, and I love how the two of them communicate and take the time to learn each other and be GOOD to and for each other. It's beautiful to see and more realistic than most of these stories. <<less

I will be honest first of all I was interested in this novel becoz of pic nothing else.... Tbh I have a special place for long white hair ML and black hair fl... That's why I became interested... But the story truly disappoint me!! First of all, our MC is a unreasonable person who is obsessed with taking revenge! ML never asked or knew her so how dare she brag in and take control of his mansion. If the novel truly based on royality then she would have been beheaded... more>> by now for trespassing. Novel shows how much royality means for them but who is our crown princess? Diana!!!... Laughable! She just want to be a God's favourite with lot of power to control ppl !! Both OGFL and FL are annoying aff... ML is a pitiful Duke who got dumped and try to su*cides bcoz diana's remark..

I mean dude? Like seriously? Novel says he is the Duke! I'm not against a depressed person but he was really unreasonable about it.... I think CP is the most reasonable character in novel... At least he is being reasonable.

It's like author lost interest while setting character of them.

Our MC doesn't cross the line with ML but that doesn't justify her action... If it's a reality then it's really creepy like "some fan doing things for their idol for their so called own good without their permission" <<less

3, 5 stars

If you don’t mind the clinically depressed and cold ML + the late romance it’s a satisfying novel. The pacing is nice, no extreme-petty arguments, the ending was realistically mellowed.

The reason of this positive review is mainly OGFL Diana. I hate religious people who claim they have the moral high ground. That’s what Diana is in this story. Seeing her break down was so fun. I love how FL’s every word makes her uncomfortable. She is arrogant and she turned ugly too easily.

Everything in this story was more... more>> or less within reason. Maybe that’s why the ML Kaelus let me down so much. His last move bothered me a lot.

That’s it. <<less

DISCLAIMER: this review is being written freshly after I'm reading it. Just straight out what I feel about it. May or may not change later.

I dont know. It has such good stories and plot in the beginning, but towards the end... it did not felt very satisfying. To be honest though, I kind of just scroll trough the epilogue and special chapter.

Spoiler

Personally, what i'd like to point out first is that, really? Hess being thorn wether she want to go back or not, wether she could accept the reality, and accepting Kaelus feelings, just get resolved like that? Seeing her favourite crying? I mean yeah, I would try to do anything if my favourite cry in front of me like that because of me, but. Really? That's all it took for her to decide she's gonna stay and accept the world as reality? At least if Hess decided that she will accept the world as her new reality, give it another reason. Hess said it herself, even though Kaelus is indeed her only reason wanting to stay in that world, Kaelus is not big enough of a reason in Hess life in real world. Kaelus may be her one and only reason to survive in that world, but he's not her one and only reason to survive in real world. Like, did Hess truly didn't want to go back to reality? Did Hess never considered any of her family, or friends in real world? It's never stated either that Hess living in a difficult life. Not stated that Hess is an orphan or her parents are dead. Never stated anything about having bad relationship with her peer. Is Kaelus really worth that much? It's very disastifying.

Second, the conflict in the end.... I'm pretty damn sure I get what Hess feelings when Kaelus decide that he will not let Diana get abdicated. All of that effort, just for this? I do get however what the author trying to say here. It's not a novel, it's the reality. And reality doesn't have to get that satisfying ends. In fact, it's better to end it peacefully without conflict. I'm fine with that, but... the scene after that? oh god. It felt so boring to get trough. It just aftermath after aftermath. Felt completely pointless, without direction, just happy things in general. It's probably another point the author wants to convey. The ending is not just the evil being defeated and bam, the story ends. There's always continuitation in life. But again, seeing this while I'm still disastified about the previous point? (Hess accepting the world as her new reality) making it more unbearable to read.

Third, I want to know how Diana's doing??? Did she repent? Did she met someone? Did she ever change? How's she doing?? They ended it with "Diana goes back to the temple (or is monastery?? I forgot the words) " and proceeds to never talk about what is she currently doing ever again. I myself, hated a character like Diana, but I would've love to see how she can grow, or maybe not grow at all. Again, I think its another point the author trying to convey: "Diana is not the MC, the world doesn't revolve around her"

[collapse]

Lastly, I still think Hestia should've asked more, should've received more. Hestia feeling over the moon by Kael doing the bare minimum still irk me. Like I'm not even talking about before Kaelus love her. Even after Kaelus love her, he did not do anything very impressive, he's just doing like before, but now he loves Hestia.
Spoiler

This man is not even trying to repay all of those things Hestia do to him before he love her. Wait, he did, only once though. Really. Only once. I did not want to count him crying and begging Hestia to not go as the way he repay her (preventing her death). That did not freaking count.

[collapse]

In the end, I more or less understand why the author makes a certain decision (maybe im wrong, idk) but still, I would've liked it more, if they put and explain more things. Still a good read though, didn't regret my time reading this. <<less

I'm giving this story a 5 star rating because

1. I was so hooked I stayed up all night reading

2. The MC was very smart and human

3. AND THE TRANSLATION WAS AWSOME. To many the MC's selflessness and devotion may seem unlikely but a lot of the times people forget that she doesn't view the characters around her as people but as characters from a novel she binged. It's like if we fell into the world of our favorite manga or something and now you get to see them up close.... more>> The world didn't feel real to her especially after regressing. Not many novels go into the trauma that being thrown into a new reality can cause and this novel did a great job at conveying this notion. She essentially had to accept the world of the novel as her reality to keep from falling apart at the seems like she did when she first fell into the world. The ML is one of my favorites ever too!! He fell in love with her devotion and returned it to the MC. The way he fell out of love with the heroine was profoundly realistic and I love the way the author gave him such wisdom and maturity after his su*cide attempt. He's a perfect example of a healthy person who grew from his past experiences. AND LETS NOT MENTION HOW HE IS SO CONSIDERATE OF THE MC's FEELINGS

The heroine doesn't become evil or is discovered to be a bad person like other novels but the author plays into the flaws that she always had since the start. This was so refreshing too and again REAL. Even at the end of this novel you may feel a little bad for her. In conclusion this novel was awesome and now I'm going to read the webtoon

I highly recommend it!! <<less

MC is mature. She doesn't force her love. She supported him and fought to give justice to ML.

I'm still at chapter 28, I think MC is a perfect wifue. She is independent, she supports ML, her world was ML, her mind is clear and knows what to do and what is wrong.

It's a masterpiece! It's my favourite novel from now on. I spent 2 nights reading this without sleeping haha.

The FL is the best... Hestia... she is always honest with the ML, so there's no misunderstanding. She's so strong and the way of revenge also absolutely astonishing!

The ML.... Kaelus.... was heartbroken cos of the bich Diana. But day by day, he recovered thanks to Hestia. He always supported Hestia and was never disrespectful. That's what I like the most.

Their love is so cute and sweet... it really gives us a lesson... more>> on how a marriage wholely on paper can be so good if the both of them respects and understand each other.

Btw.... I'm really proud of Hestia... as a regular novel reader and I also have a second lead syndrome. What she did is so good! I can't find a single fault in her way.

And a most important thing is....[If you've come for sm*t in this novel, then just give up lol! Cos the sm*t is worst lol.... at some point, I'd just ignore all the sm*t scenes and got back to the story]

The og novel couple are more than tr*sh at first but it's good to see them breaking. The ogml, the crown prince wasn't very bad at the end... Let's just say, he was not an evil lol

Spoiler

The crown prince later forgets Diana, his wife and crush on Hestia lol! But oh God, he's a total messed up character hahah.

Diana bich was divorced at the end and the prince remarried just after the divorce. The new Empress was chosen with Hestia and Kaelus.

I will never forget this novel cos I really love it.... I'll miss you, Hestia and Kaelus.... sob sob <<less

Probably the best novel I've ever read.

MC is the best and I love the male lead, I actually like the original ml, because he is not dumb and reflected on his mistakes. The original FL is the most annoying btch ever, she is so naive, s*upid and delusional that it's actually sad. She also thinks that she is always right just because she is a saintess. The manhwa is also pretty nice.

Honestly would really recommend.

I was impressed by the sheer length of every single chapter (found out after finishing that it was multiple chapters condensed).

Also I was impressed by the premise - a fan who had transmigrated and did everything in order to get revenge/justice for her favorite character - very well written. The character development was done extraordinarily well as the main character had to grow from viewing everyone as a novel character or unrealistic game to truly living life as one of the denizens of that world.

The romance was gradual but very... more>> well done - especially with the details of how ML came out in the after-effects of his depression/PTSD, surprisingly author didn't choose to write an unrealistically strong/perfect ML, but a ML with weaknesses and soft heart.

The translation seemed to be edited MTL as there were often pronoun and noun inconsistencies, but overall was readable.

Maybe because of the lack of descriptive word choice or some hiccups in the translation, the writing wasn't as engrossing as some other novels I've read, but the overall plot was very well crafted. <<less

The manhwa adaptation brought me here. As a married woman I can relate to the story. The portrayal of love and marriage was really on point and very realistic. And to quote “Wedding is not the end, but the beginning of the real love story.” ... more>>
Spoiler

It’s saddening that it was only at the end that Diana began to examine her self and consequences of her actions. There was no explicit statement that she realized her shortcomings or she accepted that she’s not perfect. However, somewhere towards the end of the epilogues, she began to see that she was ‘frozen’ in life. Unlike the people who lived their lives, she was the only one who did not progress in the journey of life.

I really loved this story, but as some of the comments already mentioned, the end feels king of rushed. There was so much potential for much more chapters to go, but I also like a story that doesn't go in a roundabout way. Just to advise future readers, this is tagged R-18, but should also have a Smut tag, it really surprised me when it happened and it also felt a little forced since it was kinda unexpected, and a little out of character... ? At least that was my... more>> feeling, but a really nice and refreshing novel ! <<less

I have complex feelings for this book.

I liked the book but there are things I dislike too.

Firstly I'm not a fan girl of anything so I don't get it.

Spoiler

I feel like Hestia has no life and she doesn't do anything for herself. She is the type of woman I personally dislike (I won't gonna lie about it.)

It's just her whole personality is about liking a guy and doing things for a guy when she herself achieved not one but two second chances.

You get two second chances in life and all you do is watch gossip or pine on a guy, I would feel sad for you.

Also she is too subjective.

I feel like og FL didn't do something unspeakable to Kaelus. He liked her and she just didn't say much about it and he proposed something should you reject the help?

Then he basically ruined a whole dukedom which is lets be honest "it's evil"

And she is the Saintess, if she would be fine about it, her position as Saintess would be fake.

Be realistic, it is selfish but most people are selfish, I think og FL was a normal human with normal human emotions and normal human reactions.

There is no reason to antagonise her this much where you don't say anything about the Crown Prince or Kaelus

And Then Hestia basically ruined her life, lol.

Tho I think being Saintess or healer would suit her better.

Being a crown princess is just too much struggle. (If It was me I would choose to be a Saintess of the whole country then the Country's Queen)

As for Kaelus, I want to say bad things about him but also I can't say it. He has mental illness and he is trying to get better (finding hobbies etc.) Hestia is running around him and he just allows her and then falls for her. Which is normal anyone who receives that much attention from someone would get addicted to that attention.

Some people say he is bland but I think he is the most complex character in the book or the manhwa.

He changed ->

From being stone ->

to being the type of guy who even ruins a dukedom for the girl he likes

->to the guy who wants to kill himself because he feels betrayed

->To a guy who doesn't feel at all

->to the guy who feels okay I give a chance

->to a guy who wants to be proactive

-> to the basic ML who only loves the fmc

What I really love in this story is its slow romance, how their love story has grown from the scratch, from the trauma that ML has experienced from his first love and how the MC persevered to help the ML to revive his will to live and to love again. Aaawwww! And I'm so happy with the happy ending and glimpse of their family life with the kids!

I rarely read the MC that hellbent on revenge. The ogFL is frustrating but I can understand her.

5 stars because I really enjoyed the story despite everything.

Spoiler
    • I don't really like hestias "revenge for my beloved" when the beloved himself is "let bygone be gone".
    • I understand Hestia about loving kaelus bc I'm a fangirl myself. And I want to hug her whenever she questioned her new life. I don't like your way but I'm glad everything turned well for her.
    • I want to spray 10 gallons of holy water straight to the crown prince for daring to like her best friend's (who he betrayed before) wife.
    • I got sick satisfaction that kaelus suffered after he ""betrayed"" hestia (yes I know he did it for the empire and I do agree with him and his "let's focus on ourselves don't think about them anymore".
    • It's unfortunate we don't see how's diana in the end/side stories. I'm most curious of her. Last time she appeared, she seemed to be realizing what did she do wrong, but that's it.

The novel is very interesting, it tells us a different vision of a female protagonist who transmigrates in a novel and who wants to change things with respect to her favorite (as she tells him), and she is also one of the few protagonists who really feel that sensation of confusion about transmigrating into a novel, and thinks that this world is only a novel and does not take seriously things like "morality" and the consequences that her actions will have, so she moves forward without caring what they think... more>> of her as long as achieve her goals, I honestly liked her intrigues and machinations, and how she uses what she knows (because she is a reader) for her plans, I really loved the protagonist and her intelligence. At the beginning it is a unilateral feeling on her part, a love more similar to a fan's admiration for her idol, then little by little it warms Kaelus' heart and makes him fall in love with her until it makes him very lustful. Likewise, not everything is going very well since the dilemma arises as to whether this world is real or just a novel. It is these thoughts that prevent her from advancing further in her relationship with Kaelus, but in the end she manages to solve it with his help and they are happy. Together. <<less

I absolutely love the main couple. It's a late romance but once you get there, it's great!

The extras is also great! I love the Couple’s ending.

I’m writing this review after re-reading this novel a couple months after my first read, and I still really like this novel the second time around. I find the whole thing strangely compelling, and as a result, I binge-read it on both read throughs. It’s an interesting take on the typical cliche troupe of the saintess marrying this prince, and this is one of the few novels that made me cry and laugh at times.

smooth translation... this was a fun calvacade of social machinations as a small side character seeks to assuage the devastation and depression of the 2nd ML while getting vengeance for him. She fervently undermines the 'happily ever after' male and female lead's relationship.

I liked the emergent [and typical] questions about identity and fate, but what I liked even more was the realistic depiction of depression and the destructiveness of a life fixated solely on revenge.

Note- I'm keeping most of the review spoiler free, and ill add a short spoiler related review in the end

This was almost THE PERFECT STORY😭

The novel itself is good and the storyline and this entire plot is ACTUALLY VERY NICE!

... more>> [If your wondering what the main goal of the story is, it's mainly character development related ig?] I can elaborate but just can't find the words I'm looking for fn hehe..😅

As for the conclusion/wrapup's, Well it's the only place i'd raise a complaint and find faults with.. The story overall is good.... But imo towards the ending arc (before the focus on main romance aspects which r to finish off on a good note I mean) (like the politics and stuff around them arc that would be finishing soon?) it starts seeming off.. like they just keep throwing loophole-like situations and there was such a good chance of some REALLY GOD EVENTS happening but its just been twisted weirdly :/

They really just had a LOT of potential and it didn't reach my expectations hat the series had built up and set for me :<

If the author wrote the antagonists finishing arc a slightly different way or as i'd say, more like the rest of the story, This would be a full 5 star novel that I wouldnt mind re-reading all the time :D

Spoilers:

Spoiler

So the ogFL is favoured by the og!Ml's father aka the emperor and so to keep her from harms way FIRST OF ALL, the emperor decides to NOT want to punish the temple and expose it? LIKE TTHE ENTIRE EMPIRE'S WELL BEING WAS AFFECTED AND MILLIONS COULD HAVE DIES BUT BRUH?? anywaYs- So, to stop our FL from exposing it, og!ML makes a deal with her on behallf of his father and yea some stuff happpens and og!2ndML (Aka our fl's ml) Was not part of the deal so he decides to expose the temple and he told FL that he wouldnt side with og!ML & og!FL here, So some stuff happens and then our ML says he wants FL to stop what she's doing (aka her revenge) and so does og!ml, and, THE FL HAS REALISATIONS HERE THAT COULD HAVE GONE IN A HER STANDING UP FOR HERSELF WAY but nONOnono it went with her doing anything ML wants bec she loves him :/ And what happens to the og!FL (Aka the antagonist of this series?) Her punishment is lifetime to be spent in church and iirc some ban abt marriage (the marriage part might be wrong) SO ESENTIALLY OG!FL IS GARUANTEED ROOF OVER HER HEAD, FOOD AND WATER AND A LIVELIHOOD & PLACE TO LIVE, AND SHE NEVER APOLOGISED OR PAYED FOR ANY CRIMES and even AT THE END ONF THE STORY she never thought she was wrong!! Like this is one of the WORST vilalin's endings ive ever had to live through😭. The way they saved diana in EVERY issue (yes the author wrote it in such a way its obvious to see they were desperate to save the antagonist :/) Makes me feel like there was some external force on the author to do so, bec just the antagonist's ending arc and that stuff doesn't match with the quality and pace of the entire story and stuff yk :/ If you read it you'll understand what I mean😕

So yes, here's my incomplete but decently detailed review abt the series! <<less

fmdf has this one aspect that I couldn’t help but be incredibly charmed by. and hestia was that for me.

more than enjoying the plot and it’s execution, I enjoyed hes and her brilliant character.

normally, i’d dislike the whole “my only purpose in this life is to save my bias” (and, tbh, I did get resentful about it towards the last chapters) but she blinded me.

... more>> her CHARISMA omggg >>>>

when I thought of dropping after seeing where the plot was headed to, her antics, schemes and funny yet wholesome devotion to make kaelus’s life better had me staying.

this also brings me to the ML topic: cael was so-so for me. I sympathized with him, and then... that was it. oh, and that incident, I got so upset, like, yea, I understand the whole reasoning behind this decision, but was it enough to cover the pettiness I felt? NO!!

did I like his relationship with hestia? yes, but then I also liked hes and helius’ banter. enough to ship them? ofc not, but it got to a point that i’d rather read about their scenes.

could give 5 stars just for her, but one thing I truly wished for was more focus on her growth and a deeper insight into herself, not as cael’s savior but just as hestia. <<less
