I met Yan Kongshan the summer after college entrance exams on Green Plum Island. Mysterious and handsome, with a tinge of melancholy, he was the ideal man of every woman on the island. And mine.

I wanted him to turn pink for me, but one day, he suddenly turned yellow. Despite that, he seemed ever so nonchalant when facing me.

Wow the secondhand embarrassment I felt while reading this lmao It is a really cute short story retelling a teen boy's unrequited (ofc not but at the beginning) love towards his handsome older neighbor who doesn't believe in love. It is not the most original plot out there I know but it's just while you're reading it you can't help feel so warm everything is too sweet our couple is soooo cute the side characters are one of the best features of this novel like as in whole it really... more>> fills you with happiness. To see everything from MC's view was a really great choice. There are things that aren't answered but I liked the way that we can't learn about them cuz even the MC doesn't know a thing about all the mysteries and that's what it makes it a lot more interesting. Such a cute and fun story really enjoyed reading it totally recommended <<less

The story was good, it was short and direct to the point. It may not be my cup of tea in a BL story, but the fact that I finished it and kinda liked it says something about the story.

The way the characters thinks and they not over complicate things, which is very common in other novels, is very refreshing. There are times that I think I would get secondhand embarrassment due to the MC being a dumb kid (which is my most hated thing for an MC) but it... more>> did not happen, he always finds a way to make me think that everything he does makes sense.

It was good for a 1 day binge reading session. <<less

This was so wholesome to read, like melting chocolate in your mouth.

MC is a sweet 19 year old guy from a broken family who moves to Green Plum Island to live with his grandfather. Due to an accident as a child he can see other people's emotions by the colour and number on top of their heads.

He fell in love at first sight for ML and proactively hopes to one day see the colour pink (Love) above ML's head.

It's a very sweet chase.

Funny, cute, got a bit of angsty moments, sweet, heartfelt, with some tragic moments, realistic in a lot of aspects but still has fairytale-ish vibes where you know everything is going to be fine and dandy and everyone’s happy in the end.

Great read, I loved the story and the characters a lot. I thought it would take a different route tbh but it never went over the top and stayed pretty mellow when you would think “uh oh things are gonna get bad.” I really like the MC’s outlook on... more>> life.

A couple things I didn’t quite like is that MC’s synesthesia was never really explained... And the way it went away nearly made me laugh like... what... And I felt that it didn’t go as deep into MC and ML’s relationship as much as I would have liked it to. Like we’re just getting a glimpse into their relationship, it’s more focused on MC’s feelings and thoughts as a whole which isn’t bad but it made me want more.

Everything else though was wonderful. I would like this on my bookshelf, I would like to read it again one day. <<less

I FINISHED THE WHOLE STORY!!!!!heck even the extras are not spared!! Ive read like hundreds of novels but NEVER have I tried ending them for some apparent reasons. But I did!! I did with this one! Surely not because its short coz ive walk on short novels before with its 5 chapters as its full length. So the reason behind this lies with its simplicity that makes it more realistic than any other ones that ive read. My inability to critique properly leads to this unnecessary comment of mine which... more>> makes me realize that this is the very first comment I did. 😂😂Awesome!!

Anyway, the author did a good job on this one although the smut scene (yes!just one😂) are a bit lacking for a self veteran fujoshi like me, its still there. The translation is great too! I would like to thank GHOSTBIRD for sending this package of dogfood to this single dog in quarantine!!😂😂

I want more!!!

Wish the author keep writing until 1000 chapters. They’re just freaking sweet!

This is a love story of a teenager who embark his journey to the adulthood. The feeling of first love, the thrilling of first kiss, the sweetness of first love. Everything written in a clever wicked hilarious way.

... more>> All the characters are sweet, witty, you’ll love them all, and of course you’ll love our MC, MianMian, the most.

Read how this smart 18 yo boy who had gone through difficulties in life, always see the good things in life and never surrender to the sadness. If you read his perspective, you only see his positive way of seeing people around him, funny, and never let himself succumbed to his sad life. Divorced parents, he was loved yet alone and unwanted, bullied in high school, but he never feel that he was a man worth our pity.

Our ML also very good, but to be honest, he was the lucky one for MianMian loved him and pursue him.

The extra ability is just like a glimpse in this story, our MC never relied to his ability to win affections from people around him. I love the author’s writing style, and wish to read more of this super sweet couple. <<less

The novel gave me a really nostalgic feeling, thinking about first loves and hot summer days. It was just what I needed right now.

Idk why but it reminded me a bit of “Call me by your name”, but with a happy ending.

Thanks to the author and the translators for their amazing work!

Light and fluffy. Both the MC and ML feel real to their age.

MC simultaneously comes off as a young and impulsive teen, but also surprisingly insightful and mature in how he approaches relationships.

ML is a mature adult, but comes off as childishly jaded towards his previous failed love.

The little details from all the background characters, as well as the descriptions of the island all work together to weave a really believable and refreshing story. I wasn't sure how I felt about the first person narration, but I got into it... more>> after a few chapters and liked how much we saw into MC's thoughts. <<less

This is a lovely read! Not a single boring chapter. I love how MC is surprisingly bold and clumsy in showing his affections, and how ML feels really human. The side characters are great. Plot’s not over the top, but extremely enjoyable. I love the relationship development so much. And it’s the perfect length to conclude things without getting too draggy. I’d recommend this to anyone!

Woah, so thankful for the translation. A really sweet short coming of age read with a dash of angst.

MC has a very youthful disposition that shows and counteracts ML's wall and at first I couldn't really see it but when the sweetness came, it came in bucketful. It's really sweet.

where they kind of nearly fell into this FWB situation but not because ML said he won't do it with MC but he would rather be MC's experiment partner than let MC do it with others. Not sure but the lead up to it just made me feel very uncomfortable emotionally. Especially the part where ML said he will put up the wind chime and let MC take it down but earlier implied that if MC do it, he will be treated like all ML's past flings (RED FLAG). Not sure, just emotionally rubs me off in the wrong way like they were entering into this weird relationship of nearly FWB for selfish reasons on each other's part. I just didn't like that part maybe because part of me thought this book was going to be a bit more smooth sailing. But fret not, this ambiguity last only a moment because bold MC quickly proposes to be a probationary BF for ML (knowing his aversion to love) to get out of that weird situation of FWB but not really. Thank goodness.

I think it's just me who didn't like that one off moment, nearly thought it was going to go downhill for me but luckily it didn't and it was great! MC was bold! GO MC!

Just want to add, for a short book, the side characters were great too, from MC's grandpa, to his good friend and coworkers at the bookshop to even ML's aunt. They're not wallpaper but added substance. Special shoutout to Qiuqiu who's especially bright and cheerful and has very high EQ.

The emotional conflict in the book (apart from the tangle I had in the spoiler above) were decently fleshed out for a book of this length. From ML's struggles with his belief and perspective on love to even MC and his relationship with his parents (and even his past conflict in school).

And the best part of the book, is how well they got along. Special mention is the last extra seen in the perspective of a side character.

Because ML in love is really unexpected and unlike his usual (aloof) self. And MC, likes it. And that, is fluff.

A cute story of growing up and falling in love.

The MC is a 18 year old boy who has the strange ability of understanding peoples moods by colored numbers that show up above someone’s head. But that isn’t what’s important.

He’s gay and while living with his grandpa he develops a crush and later falls in love with their neighbor.

I loved how the author narrated the couple’s growing relationship, from strangers to friends to lovers.

I really wish I had a green plum island to fall in love in too.

This novel is a gem. I finished it in one sitting.

I was nervous when MC could no longer see ML's color after they kiss.

Im glad that MC is persistent and proved to ML that he wont leave.

ML issues with love is sad but I could understand his point of view. Im glad he met MC and found that he is the one for him.

Its cute that ML became clingy when he fell inlove. His bestfriend was fed with dog food lol.

Good story, great story. If you're in a bad mood... read this novel and you'll feel better for sure.

The MC is so adorable and pure, I just want to give him a hug. As for the ml, he might appear cold but give it time and it's get better. He is good too.

  • Definitely a sweet, romantic and fluffy read. Its a bundle of joy so give it a go and you won't regret it.

My heart feels so full thinking how cute, funny, and sentimental this story is.

ML described MC as comfortable... and that's also how I feel towards this story.

It's soothing and comfortable, like watching the calm sea at night, taking in the night sky and the lull of waves.

Its been along time since I read such sweet romantic story. Yes Romantic! Gosh it’s like those days when I still in school reading those teen romance. And this one also so poetic, abit cross studio ghibli with a whisps or magic and nostalgia. Good read.

I think a lot of people gave this a high rating because it's a nostalgic type of coming-of-age, youthful romance. The writing (and translations) is GOOD, I won't argue on that... it's just I can't get behind this couple.

As someone who's almost the same age as the ML, having an 18-year-old chase after you is... unsettling. Early on when the MC clarifies that he's not 16, but 18 (so he's not a kid), I was immediately thinking 'that's exactly what a kid would insist'. I have no issues with age... more>> difference or 'shou chasing gong' stories, but the MC is a young, impulsive, and inexperienced kid in love for the first time with someone he barely knows, and I can't see his actions as anything but childish.

So, from my standpoint, the ML being mostly indifferent and not reciprocating is understandable. However, from the standpoint of a romance novel reader, it makes the relationship one-sided. It doesn't feel like 'the ML fell harder' after the MC fell first. It feels like the MC wore him down by worming into every aspect of the ML's life because he's smitten (literally cajoling the ML to give him a try), and the ML agreeing because he's like a kid who rejected a toy but doesn't want someone else to play with it too. It doesn't feel like love. It feels like lust and possession.

The couple IS cute once they got together, but I just disliked how they got there. I wished there was a time-skip where the MC is given more time to mature (as I personally think he relies too much on his synesthesia to capture the ML, like he's in an otome game or something), and also to give the ML more time to realize his deeper feelings and do some of the chasing for once instead of just 'giving into the temptation'. His hot and cold attitude towards the MC right up until they got together was exhausting.

Still, I'm not giving this too low a rating because I feel like it's a type of 'it depends on how you look at it' novel. I still like the author's writing style and find it refreshing. <<less

Overall, the novel is very sweet and the romance is certainly there. Nothing much to it other than that.

The plot mostly revolves around the romance and nothing much happens other than that. If you guys are planning on reading a purely romance-based plot, then by all means you can read this book and maybe enjoy it.

I did like this, but for me this is a 3.5/5, not a life-changing read, but not such a bad one that I had to drop it.

I now understand why there were many 5 stars review on this one. The extras just feel so sweet that it leaves you smiling all throughout. This unexpectedly focuses on their age gap. I was so used to reading age gap stories that sometimes I forgot there were indeed a lot of gap between the older and younger generation. I actually put down this book a lot of times since I wasn't fond of love at first sight trope but I'm glad I decided to finish this.

I'm almost done reading... more>> all of the author's stories and she's definitely one of my favorites now huhu. Sadly, some of the novels she wrote wasn't completely translated. <<less

A short heartwarming and sweet novel. In some ways, the MC Yu Mian is very likeable so it was nice to read from his pov, from how he got his 'superpower' to how he chased the ML. Their relationship started out interesting I guess. Some say that MC 'forced' ML to date him because the ML seemed reluctant but I disagree. The ML is already 30. He knows what he's doing. The fact that he felt desire (turned yellow) for the MC, not push MC away despite the MC drunk... more>> confessing to him, still treating the MC well after all those moments, and is willing to give in and kiss the MC shows that he is impartial to him and already has a little feelings for the MC. The feelings may not have started out 100% pure but in the end everything worked out well didn't it? The MC brought the ML out from his past and the ML also seemed to be wayyyy happier. I'm glad they found each other!

Also to be honest, most of the characters are very very loveable. The best example will be Sun Rui (MC's BFF), Yan Wanqiu (ML's 'daughter') and MC's Grandpa :") So I highly recommend!! Go read it please haha <<less

The MC was a little annoying to me at times... which fits his age but, yeah little annoying to me.
