Cheng Yujin was the elder twin sister, who was supposed to be engaged to an excellent man. This is a well written story & translated also amazingly. Such a joy in reading!

Our FL is loveable, ML also drool-worthy, side characters are not overly s*upid, no excessive plot, and this deserves more than 5 stars.

The translators TT_TT so good! I've read quite some translated cnovels with patreon/ko-fi yet their translations were sub-standard. Not this one (by koffeam) ❤️ I'm definitely checking aerialrain's other work!

This is a good read and a way to pass time. It would make you hook but at the same time maintain your interest. Not as astounding as To be A Virtuous Wife and Eight Treasures Trousseau that would continuously raise your excitement. But was still well-written although the controversies would be treated as 'normal' compared to other court intrigue novels. Easily a 4.5 but I rounded it off.

I had to read the end in mtl because I couldn't wait to know more. But kudos to the translator, who made an absolute wonderful job with the flow of the story so you barely notice the few mistakes.

The relationship between the FL and ML is so beautiful and well developed. They actually sit and talk about their problems like adults even though the author could've waved it away and made them unreasonable because of their age. I think their relationship is a slow burn, but it's actually one of... more>> the few well written ones out there who actually takes the time to set a steady base for the feelings.

The protagonists are very rational and logic people so they avoid a lot of trouble that they would have gotten into if this was another story. But that doesn't make them boring in any moment and the few times that they get very emotional are delightful.

Also, the family of the FL are not condemned by the plot to be eternally s*upid and self sabotaging.

Really, the author made such a good job in everything. You won't regret giving this story a chance, I promise. <<less

The novel is just too great ! READ IT ! It's a must !

The MC is very crafty but you have to feel sorry for her because this is her only way to survival. In the end, being sceming is her way to have a less difficult life. She have 2 pairs of parents but she is more like an orphan (with no one to protect her, to plan for her). I felt tired for her.

And to be honest, I said "crafty, scheming, etc..." but I think "very smart" because,... more>> let's be honest, in the same situation, you should be like her or beaten and bullied.

The story is very well writed and I just love the MC character. She is a good planner so she have to scheme to reach her goal in spite of these hateful and selfish relatives.

Her interaction with the ML are just wonderful. She met her mate. Their love is long-awaited and directly jump to marriage (forced by circonstances and directed by the ML). They are not lovers but become directly married couple. Still, it's very fluid and not unnatural at all because they were a natural couple (without sense of it for the MC at first).

And the sweetness after marriage was great !!!!!!! <<less

A very good novel. Cheng Yujin is very realistic, unlike some main characters who say they have good moral values but actually don't. She also takes revenge and knows how to create benefits for herself by using her horrible family members. She sets a goal for herself and it is a very logical one too. She wants to marry a wealthy and powerful husband that can provide benefits for her, which is something that I'm sure every female in ancient china want. Although she is a bit selfish and shameless,... more>> Cheng Yujin also has compassion, unlike those female leads who take revenge a bit too far and vicious, which makes her even more down-to-earth.

As for the male lead, he seems like a good husband for Cheng Yujin. I also do hope he continues to be like what he is now, and not let Cheng Yujin suffer any further grievances (I mean, nobody in her family even truly cares for her! She's so young and yet, she's more sensible than her adopted mother AND her biological mother!).

I wasn't very into this when I first started, because I felt a bit uncomfortable at Yujin's shamelessness (XD). However, as I read, I felt that everything Cheng Yujin did was reasonable, considering the fact that she never had any familial love. Moreover, the more farther I read, the more I saw how twisted her family members were, thus, Cheng Yujin gradually became my third favorite female lead! Go Cheng Yujin!

I lov this novel absolute. This novel always makes me laugh and its contains real bitter life. I had ride a rollercoaster in life and even went off t track. All I want just peace of mind now. I wish I read this novel early on. Cheng Yujin character is not wrong. Being selfish is never wrong w t fact that everything is all ur own effort. Only urself responsible for your life. Cheng Yujin's family character is v common even in this 21st century. I found comedy and love... more>> really in t air. I love cheng Yujin. I hope she got everything she wants in t novel. I really love this novel. It's quite different from the usual reincarnation/rebirth type that I've read because the MC never really bothered to get revenge to those who hurt her during her previous life or her dream-like life before as what she calls it. She just focused on herself and her dream to marry some rich, powerful man. It may seem like she's cunning and manipulative but I think she have every right to be because of the kind of environment she lived in. actually I was very reluctant to read this novel but I had nothing to do and seeing the reviews I couldn't help but be curious, therefore, I've read it. And let me tell you this was one of the best Chinese novels I've read so far.

the FL personality is not perfect but she's not vicious either, she's very balanced, smart but not overly so. very realistic! the characters have depth to them and are not shallow like most romance novels. the ML is good.

the romance is slow but the interaction... more>> of the couple is very amusing, they have great chemicals going on there it's so refreshing.

but I do have a complaint... the style of the author is mainly good but sometimes some details (like the past of the ML) gets repeated although from different people's point of view but nothing interesting is added just copying the same thoughts over and over again. It personally annoyed me a little but it's okay.

overall a good read totally recommend! <<less

They're all calculative and are reasonable. It's a worthy read. Every characters have their fair share entry and yup! Some will really get your blood boil. I'm quite satisfied with their rebuking speeches and the their romance are not like those novels who exaggerated it to the point that you'll locked them up completely. Their love is in slow pace and I like it since they're getting to know each other and funding their compatibility. Just read it.

This is a hidden gem. It is also one of those historical Chinese novel that is ok to translate as long as you read available translated chapter.

I give this novel a 4.5. It is one of those rare rebirth/dream of pastlife that does not spout overpowered protagonist. I like how graceful the faceslapping are. Plus karma is really a b****.

FL is described as 'perfect' by others but she is 'flawed.' These flaws are her self-defense mechanism in her a hard life. ML, is her knight in shining armor. He is... more>> a 'perfect prince', but he is not without flaws. His life is even more arduous, and FL is his remedy. I just love this couple so much.

No meng, no fluff, just mutual affection, respect and trust.

This is good!! The translation is really good. I really like broken engagement tag with rebirth in it. While it's a bit too early to judge the story right now, the translation is really great. Wish the chapters were longer! The MC knowing her past acts more tough and determined to live a comfortable life, so it's amusing to see how the ML came and disrupted all those plans.

My only concern is how the former FL is kinda s*upid...

AHHHH THIS WAS SO GOOOOD

This is such an undiscovered gem! As much as I usually preferred passionate romances, I actually really loveed how the FL and ML developed their relationship. Well, cause I also am satisfied with a nice and peaceful everyday life with the one I love like the ML and FL.

Not much drama or court politics involved so it feels calm... but it's not boring because of the personality of the ML and FL. They're too awesome!
