I surprisingly loved this. Every aspect of the main CP's story, their relationship, their intelligence, the way they handle things. Everything. It's so fun and immersing to read something like this. Most of the time, beautiful emperors ended up being a somewhat weak character, and I thought it would be like this. But I love how domineering our MC is and how accepting of that ML is while not being out-dominated.

It's an interesting trope, not new, but interesting nonetheless. I like their ambition, their actions. It's so refreshing. World building... more>> is good, romance built up beautifully, and plot unravels at a just right pace. 5 stars! <<less

Man... for a title that seems silly, this story will surprise you. MC is so cool from the beginning, and ML was a bit annoying in the beginning but he will redeem himself tk the point you forget how he was in the beginning. The story is deeper than I expected, the world building is fun and the story really takes us through many many years

Good novel! It's NOT really light-hearted nor shallow as its title, but is true as its title. It mainly focuses on MC's stabilization and improvement of country but has a little angst due to MC's disease. The story starts with MC already living (transmigrated) for three years as an emperor. For the past 3yrs, he was busy with getting back his power fr lu Sheng and built elite team/his own army. He is also straight and has rejected ML a million times. For ML, he's psychotic and shameless. I ship many male chara's for MC instead XD since the real ML pisses me off at first. If the emperor is not the MC, the ML might really get killed on the spot due to his unruliness. Eventually, I came to like the ML a little due to his persistent efforts in wooing the MC

Downside for me is the push and pull between MC and ML. It is still honestly annoying due to repetitive scenes. Also, I hope that the author writes more of the MC's past since I find it unbelievable that MC adapts well as ruler. <<less

Don't be fooled by the title! It is true to some extent, but this novel is not limited to it. The setting and plot are dynamic and well arranged. Without the extras, I would be very reluctant to finish this novel. Still, I wish there was more.

I rarely invest in transmigration+ancient china novel because most of the novels that I read with this tag always make me tired from the unnecessary dragging and drama. This novel satisfied my appetite just right with the moderate plot and scheme.

MC is a rational,... more>> logical straight man who transmigrated into ancient china as the emperor. He is true to his character.

MC did well in his deed, but he certainly is not OP. He is not the typical know-it-all transmigrator from modern time. He spent his time learning from scratch, improving what he already know. Well, of course he has the it factor that help him achieve what he want. He is a beauty, that's one point.

ML is wild, sometimes irrational, overbearing, but extremely loyal to MC, and the perfect lover out there for MC. I like how ML is not designed as a perfect gentleman who master all types of art, etc. But simply a wild general who disliked the emperor at the beginning and then fell in love with him step by step.

The love story between MC and ML is great in a sense that there is no angsty drama due to miscommunication or third people intruding their relationship. Both of them respect and trust each other. Coupled with some spiciness in their relationship, they easily enter the list of my favourite couple. <<less

I've been reading the raws and the character growth of the ML and the world building of this ancient Chinese dynasty is fantastic. There are a lot of actual historical references (with citations too!!) and the author also refers to academic articles to determine just how the MC (the emperor) reigns over his country with various reforms and strategic plans.

NOTE: Even though I tried to put the spoilers into spoiler section, some of the details may have been left out in open.

Advice: All the so-called "straight steel men" are "bent iron-trees".

First, the plot: Amazing! The politics and how each thing is implemented over the course of planning for years. Nothing is done directly, like some other transmigrated emperors who directly turn out gunpowder... [like how the hell could they know what it takes to make gunpowder as an ordinary modern man... unless the person had googled it before their... more>> transmigration... how unlikely.]

The first three years of the struggle of the emperor have been removed from our eyes. So what we see is a relatively powerful emperor whose opinions are heeded, admired and actually carried out. There's been quite a mention of a traitor minister who was corrupt and more powerful than the emperor when our MC transmigrated... so we can somewhat guess the struggle for power during those times.

Second, the MC, Gu Yuanbai (actual name - Gu Lian) : The emperor... or the transmigrated emperor. It's hasn't been said if his name was Gu Lian before or not, but original emperor's name before crowning was Gu Lian. Rational, ambitious and willed. He looks and behaves more of an emperor than some other emperors. The reason for this has been attributed to his pre-transmigration family, education and lifestyle. He thought of many many things to do for development, such as...

Looking for talents (both mentioned in the book itself and on his own) - team for next work and development.

Making a supervision team as well as an elite soldiers team - reduces possibility of not having control over his country due to some corrupt ministers.

Making the memorials presented to him in the version of spreadsheets - making his work ultra-easy and less time-taking.

Anti-corruption Spree - cleaning the court and the country of the officials that aren't needed and spoil it and increase the empire's treasury and granary.

Taking over the excess fields of the temples - makes food abundant for the people, provides farmers more livelihood and controls the overgrowing wealth of temples.

... and many more. These things were all planned over the course of years step by step, which is something I like in this novel very much. He loves the empire he's ruling and wishes to make it more prosper.

He's been set-up as a heartthrob... but it doesn't benefit much except controlling the ML, whom I too doubt would be controlled just as it is if the emperor's personality wasn't so. All the men who fell for him/crush for him are partly due to his beauty and partly due to his own personality. There are handful who actually fall for him. All others are simply not worth mentioning such as that one trespasser at the start of story. It's not like that every talent he meets falls for him, for eg. Kong Yilin, a real straight steel man.

He's been shown to have a strong desire for control, which has been said to increase more after becoming an emperor. He also likes excitement and adventure. Unfortunately, the new weak body doesn't allow an opportunity for so. These two are precisely the reason that contributed to the interest of MC towards the ML.

It's been said that in-between some chapters the emperor acts like a dictator, but that was needed cause the emperor has to be obeyed in any circumstances and that's how one maintains his authority over the others. If someone dares step on his already weak-vitality, he has to prove that even if he was about to be on his death bed, the control he has is greater and no one can eye that seat unless he's giving it willingly.

Third, the ML, Xue Jiuyao (actual name - Xue Yuan) : A brat to the core. The eldest son of a three-generation loyal household of generals. An experienced northern general whose merits have been suppressed by his own father for his good.

He's extremely disliked by the reader population due to how he behaves with the MC at the start and also has been the reason for many people dropping this beautiful political novel. If the readers are patient and can wade through the novel till they reach near the end, they will know the cause of the detest the ML has towards the imperial power, which I'm willing to provide here - it's a pretty important spoiler, if one really wishes to improve their rating on the ML.

Xue Yuan was stationed at the northern border to fight the nomads along his father. It was the time when the 'traitor minister' was still in power and the emperor couldn't do much. Their army eventually entered a period where they started lacking rations. It was to the point where they were so hungry that they hate the grass and hay in their own clothes and had to fight wild beasts to hunt. Very miserable situation. They fought off the nomads but couldn't kill them as they lacked the court's support. They passed through a village but the village thought they were gonna rob them too cause of extreme tension overtime at the borders and facing the assault of nomads. A villager in tension accidently raised his farming tool towards a soldier, who, due to reflex, cut off that villager. The villager's misunderstood thoughts were further solidified and they attacked the soldiers. The soldiers tried to defend themselves as much as they could while they avoid hurting the villagers. In the end, many soldiers fell and the entire village was wiped out and Xue Yuan suffered a knife scar at his waist due to a little boy.

The empathy that had been cultivated by his father overtime for the soldiers made his heart hate the court and the power sitting there.

He fell in love with MC slowly. The time when he realises that his "loyal heart" started beating, that's when his character improves slightly. And his character does improve overtime. He's quite a rebel though in his bones had he not fallen for MC, it would surely lead to the rebel-to-regent route. (For this point, MC did stabilize the country with his beauty - he pinched off the bud of rebellion of ML.)

Fourth, the relationship b/w MC & ML: [All this is my opinion.]

MC who has strong desire for control can't possibly tolerate one who won't allow this but his preference for seeking excitement also makes him like people who can contend with him on equal basis. ML is such a person who fits these. The guy was wildly contending with the emperor himself, wooing him too and allowed the emperor to control (that is keeping an eye on everything he does) after he fell in love.

Other MLs... don't have such possibility cause they obey the emperor and dare not try to woo him and face his anger. MC, who has a heart for excitement, would feel boring if he saw that the other-half is cowering under his anger. Additionally, as a modern person, he wants someone who can actually treat him as an equal and not a superior exactly. He feels lonely being an emperor.

Even after falling in love, MC is a very rational emperor. He's not one of those shou characters that lose their independent charm after falling in love with the top and let the top do their work for them cause they have been tired after doing it on their own for so long.

Overall, after having my view improved of ML, I like this novel filled with court politics, empire building and deep affection. Even if you hate the ML, just skim the guy for the emperor and the plot.

Prince He is the cousin of the emperor by blood, who had been adopted by the late emperor from his brother. A large reason for the distorted affection has been attributed to the 'black hands behind the guy'.

I wish this is a harem novel 😂

Every man who is attracted to the MC has the potential to be the ML since they either had strong backgrounds, abilities or smitten at first sight of the MC.

It sure is Gary Stu as hell but I actually enjoyed how many of them fell victim under the MC's dragon robe lol. It was so satisfying to read the way MC picked flowers talents left and right to become his harem officials :D

And usually I don't like delicate MC but I liked... more>> this one since he was actually so witty and cunning beneath that sickly body. He considered every angle and calculated everything to his benefit while not forgetting to be a genuinely good emperor who cared for the commoner and his trusted officials. I think it's adorable that he was doted and fussed over by his officials but he could only accept them helplessly. They spared no effort to please him with the quality of their works and in turn, he also cared about their job satisfaction. If not for his weak body, he would've been as famous as Back to Ming Dynasty to do Charity's MC.

I had a difficult time to accept the endgame pairing since so many of the men in this novel are ML-material sooo well, I still wished this is a harem novel. <<less

I really want to like this story because I love the premise and there are many good reviews. I have tried to read it this novel several times and given up midway. It's difficult for me to get into because the writing is bloated with excessively redundant descriptions of 1) how sick the MC is, 2) how much pampering he receives as the emperor, and 3) how beautiful the MC is. EVERY. SINGLE. CHAPTER. The constant repetition unnecessarily drags down the pace of the story without contributing anything meaningful since... more>> these things were established very early on and we all know well that the MC is fragile and beautiful. There was no need to go into SO MUCH detail at every opportunity! It makes the reading experience a slog as I'm trying to pay attention to the actual plot between paragraphs of purple prose about how sick/beautiful/pampered the MC is. I really want to keep going since other reviews praised this novel's plot, but honestly reading this has started to feel like a chore/something I need to get through than an enjoyable pastime. Does this get better as the story progresses? I can't imagine it stays this way for all 140 some chapters! <<less

Solid read. The plot is wonderful, the MC is great. The biggest let down is the ML. One of the worst ML ever written. MC deserves so much better than some brainless Chad with no manners. What a let down. I took down 2 stars because as the story develops, ML becomes more and more annoying. MC is better off with any one his admirers, literally anyone but ML is better.

The ML is hilarious. once he saw our MC "touching his own jade rod" he saw how pink it was and couldn't forget for sometimes. One day he passed by a jade store. He remembered about the pink rod, but quite not sure whether it was really pink or just his eyes deceived him because there was a lot of water mist back there. For the rest of the day his thoughts were full of how to take off the little emperor's pants to make sure the true color of... more>> his dick... 🤣🤣🤣

I also quite like this kind of MC. Although physically weak, MC is a wise ruler. He can be cruel but amiable at the same time. In fact I really love how decisive he is. <<less

Mary Sueish as hell. A very relaxing reading. You will not have to worry about anything - just because you know they will win everytime with almost no harm done.

Still, a lot of plot is going on, so being so "Mary" is ok to me.

Romance takes a huge part of plot. It is both hilarious and sturdy.

Totally recommended. Mtl is neat.

I only read the first 15 chapters but this has become one of my all time favorite Chinese BL novels. The transmigration plot is like the other stories but the MC is one of the best written and shrewdest so far. Bonus for being the most beautiful in the story.

The MC has a weak body and the plot doesn't hide this. He has to balance how physically weak he is and use his knowledge to gain advantage.

The translation is outstanding and I like that there are explanations on esoteric subjects.

Pretty much a waste of time... Since my estimation is very different to other reviews, let me explain a bit.

There are some points that I need to speak up about:

The "Realtionship" and MC&MLs interactions

I do unterstand, why a lot of people like this novel. The writing itself is smooth and the translation is good. With that much bad examples out there, this novel is already good, if you never read a really good one. But that is just a thin sugary glace over a boring pile of shit.

Let's start with the transmigration. The story starts, when MC is already in that world for 3 years and recently finished a decisive powerbattle in court to gain the power back. He does know who the books ML and MC are and some minor other info but not the whole story. So asside from the moments at the beginning, when meeting some important characters, he does not use any information, that you would await in a transmigration novel. Basically there is not the feeling of "transmigration into a book" at all.

Neither does MC use that knowledge, nor does he really use the knowledge of modern people. He is hinting here and there, looking for "geniuses " that can unterstand his hints and produce things, like windmills, crossbows and some other stuff. But all in all, he kind of integrates into old customs.

So the transmigration parts and the whole reagent part, was kind of boring. There were no real up and downs, no struggles... everting was rather smooth. Even an earthquake was solved in one day?

Now to the real reason I deemed this novel a failure.... MC and ML. To be honest, it takes a lot in a novel, that I dislike a main character... but damn...i really dislike booth. To be honest, if you like reading about kinks and psychological S&M play, you might like this novel a lot. It's just not my cup of tea.

ML is obviously inteded written as a crazy "wolf" that will be tamed by MC. His personality is often linked to dogs and wolfes, behaviors like an animal. And so he really becomes a kind of obsesses lapdog. The biting kind. He is always pushing limits. He touches, when he shouldn't, he dares pushing the emperor down, even if it costs him his life. Totally sure, that ML "wants it". I hat the "your NO is a Yes" trope. To sum it up without the sugarglacing... ML is a violent stalker and raping a person, that expressed his unwillingness. ML is the guy that likes to drink his loves bathwater (literally).

MC on the other hand, gives ML exceptional leeway because he is the future "Main Character" and will lead the nation, when MC dies. Also... he wants to "tame" ML and likes the kick it gives him. He likes to see ML desperate, whenever he lets him wait or struggle for even a glance. So yes, MC and ML are pretty much in a SM non-relationship.

Although ML is weak and sick... so this is also used to make ML obedient. That is another thing that annoyed me greatly. MC is sick throughout the whole novel. There is a "live saving" doctor, starting chapter 130 forward but its just prolonging live, not making him really healthy.

Oh... and the novels title, keeps it promises... EVERY male character is falling in love with MC. This is basically a harem novel, just shy of the s*xual contacts. The male characters fall in love, keep his pictures and are basically going crazy for him.

So instead of a good romance novel, I got a abusive one. Instead of a book transmigration, I got a halfassed one. Instead of up and downs with palace intrigue, I got the "after the intrigue" part, where everything goes the emperors ways or he sends his "dog".

So no, I do not recommend this novel. It was really wasted time for me. If you like the kink and SM play, you might like this novel and go for it. <<less

the ML is the worse, he is so petty, he just spends his time looking for a way to isolate the protagonist and hurting innocents just because his whims are not fulfilled, threatening his mother, breaking his brother's legs on a whim.

  1. It's a good novel! Worth reading!
  2. MC is a modern guy with modern mindset who transmigrated into a body of a young pretty emperor in a novel. He is a hard worker even though he is sickly.
  3. Because of his pretty appearance, he has a lot of fanboys. But it's not a harem. The ML is only one.
  4. The plot, it is very well written! I really love how MC working very hard to build his country, he is really smart and ruthless, that's so cool.
  5. Their relationship start from enemies to lover. ML is not a fanboy, he is not like the other fanboys who are enchanted by MC's looks. He is more like, fall in love with MC's strong heart.
  6. The manhua art is so pretty!
  7. If you love novels with pretty, weak outside but strong inside shou, mad and unruly but devoted gong, then I believe this novel must be your cup of tea.

So far it seems interesting.

The main character transmigrates into a sickly emperor without any real power, takes said power back and plans on ruling himself. Only to find himself becoming ill. (●´⌓`●) He was seemingly an active person in his previous life, because his transmigration happens when he's sky diving, curious how a previously healthy and energetic person will respond to suddenly having the things they can do limited this much.

At this point we've met the male lead, but don't know much about him yet.

All in all, a transmigration BL... more>> story with an interesting premise and thus far good story. Translation is thus far also of good quality.

This novel has easily become one of my favorites and I anxiously wait for the tls to resume 😭

I absolutely love historical and political stories so it took me by surprise when I saw how much research went into this one, the plot is rlly interesting and it does not leave you guessing, there's plotting and intrigue but it's not excessive nor overly dramatic and it's well balanced w the humor, MC transmigrated 3 years before the whole thing starts so he goes along explaining the plans he's made to... more>> deal with his problems/enemies.

Honest to god MC has my heart, hes shrewd, astute and very clever; he's also not the usual know-it-all transmigrator, there's no OOC, plot pushers or a system and he knows just the basics about the novel he was shoved into (a bit like Twitter osmosis where you see people online going nuts over a new C-drama and without meaning to you start learning some of the plot LMAO), so he's basically going almost blind and trying to become a great emperor by his own effort while also dealing with a chronic illness.

ML however is a bit of a b*stard lol, I didn't like him at first but he kinda grew on me, I wouldn't go as far as to call him yandere cuz he basically does a lot of things just to see how far he can get without being seriously punished 😂😂, he reminds me a bit of Moran but less dumb and more wild.

Aside from that the side characters are great and I love their personalities, hopefully our lovely author fleshed them out a bit more in future chaps🙏

I also have to thank the wonderful tl team taking care of this project, there's a LOT of laws, ministries n titles (you get the hang of them somewhat easily) as well as some rlly interesting facts that make the whole thing super enjoyable (like ancient Chinese soccer! 😂) So I'm sure this isn't easy.

I tried reading this.

I picked it up and started more than once because I thought it had an intriguing summary and some good reviews. But I just can't get into it.

First, it's dry and boring. We're getting every day court life, changing outfits, coughing and medicine so far. Somehow, even emergencies are dry. It's something about the writing style I think.

I know the premise that the MC is super-beautiful, but every young man falling in love with him - except the ML - is tiresome. Btw. The fact that the... more>> ML's reaction to the MC is all anger and more anger, instead of love does not create a feeling of "this guy is different possible relationship tension." All I got from the ML so far was "this dude is seriously crazy and off his meds."

Maybe it works for other people, but when I find something that's so easy to put down early, it's no good. <<less

I don’t like the ML. He’s too confident and full of himself, he doesn’t respect MC as the emperor (initially). Something about him just makes me vote for others to be the ML.

MC:

I like his views about running his kingdom. But as of chap 52, nothing about this MC really stands out for me.

Plot:

The story starts when MC has already been in the world for 3 years and he already fought off the previous villains so the novel feels unexciting for me. It seems that everything is going well now for MC (besides his health) and he is quite OP. Though, I do like his interactions with his couriers.

I also dislike how almost every men fall in love with MC or desires him because of his looks. I understand that MC looks really good but it’s just crazy how even

Stellar from start to finish. This is a slow burn romance with the ML and and MC both being strong personalities. It's not so easy to assign labels of shou/gong, top/bottom and I love that. Their relationship is full of testing and teasing until they learn to balance and equalise with one another. Neither the ML or the MC holds the other back, allowing each other to flourish and accomplish their goals. The ML absolutely starts off as a dog and in some ways he remains true to his nature,... more>> however, he learns to reign it in and comes to truly love and cherish the MC. To those reviews saying this story is dry and boring - there is a lot of political intrigue and machinations in the novel. However, the novel is constantly moving forward and the politics and world events showcase the characters, demonstrating their resolve, strength, bravery, cunning and sharpness. It was never dull for me and I often find books that focus too much on the politics boring but not this one. I laughed so many times and also cried a few times too. The relationship at the centre of this novel was genuine and beautiful, deep and like a force of nature. Any danmei lovers who don't read this are truly missing out. The translation was also fantastic, with scenes vividly brought to life. <<less

like how GYB transmigrate into the book without rhymes or reasons. His background at the real world and how the hell is he so suitable to be an Emperor. It's like he was born for it. And no specific endings of other characters like the original shou etc etc.

But wat I like is the MC's character and the flow of the story. The romance is slow burn, believable and really sweet. Some parts of the story is also quite realistic, the palace drama quite interesting without being over the top.I also feel for the ML, he's just so devoted and has wat it takes to move Mount Tai (a.k.a the Emperor). Their love story really brought tears to my eyes, it's just beautiful and touching. The most devotion I felt beside Heavenly Official's Blessing.

All in all this is def a recommended read.I MTL ed the rest of the story and it's kinda difficult, I only get like 80% of the conversations.I bet the meanings will mk the story even better! <<less
