I remembered this being an insanely funny story in the first arc, which was why I was surprised to see the ratings so low. But while there are some really funny parts afterwards, almost 80% of the content is literally the EXACT SAME formula of him walking into an examination with zero knowledge, telling them he wants to read books and pass in an hour, them insulting him, then he performs better than the guild master.

Edit: 500 -> completed

He does eventually stop constantly taking examinations, but the story isn't very... more>> funny past that point anyways. It does move to some more "epic" plots and twists, but honestly they're kind of dumb and infuriating anyways. First ~300 chapters are the best part. Would not recommend reading past the second kingdom arc. <<less

Loved it for the first 250~ chapters. The idea was fresh as I had never read a story about with a teacher MC. Turns out MC doesn't actually put in effort to teach his students and his interactions with them take up a very small amount of the novel. Interactions are basically like this

Student: Yo teacher I'm a specialist in ___ techniques

Mc: Oh? *Transfers technique into their mind*

... more>> Student after understanding the technique without any help: Wow you've solved my problem. *Proceeds to praise MC for the next few hundred chapters*

The majority of the novel is face slapping. It was funny and entertaining at the start. Flash forward hundreds of chapters, and it's still happening. Even other novels aren't so blatant about their repetitiveness. Author reuses the exact same template over and over, down to the expressions people make. MC wants to take a test for a profession, the people at the testing site mock him, MC reads some books and shocks the testers while maybe breaking a record. After this happened about 6-7 times I started skimming those parts. After maybe 1.3k chapters the face slapping simmers down though.

Side characters are usually written one of two ways

1. Loyal complimenters of MC from the start

2. People who mock the MC but then start complimenting him after he face slaps them

There are maybe 5-10 truly interesting side characters in the story out of the 100+ introduced.

Other than the enjoyable start, what made me give this 2 stars instead of 1 is

Spoiler

The part around chapters 1400-1600 when MC was being hunted by a lot of powerful people. Mc's students (now in some of the most prestigious positions on the continent) come and protect him 1 by 1. It was satisfying seeing all of them come and reveal that he's their teacher to everyone.

[collapse]

Also the ending was eh

Spoiler

After defeating the final boss MC meets the most powerful cultivator. Guy basically reveals he caused the MC to come to this world and that there are more powerful people out there. He says he once tried to see more powerful people but got swatted down. Mc's basically like ok whatever. So at the end of the story MC is the most powerful of the normal guys but there's still more powerful people out there. His romantic partners are elaborated on in a side story (there are 2)

[collapse]

If you want to read something more enjoyable with teaching and MC learning abilities quickly through a cheat, I'd suggest absolute great teacher instead of this. <<less

It would get two and a half to three and a half stars except for how f*cking annoying the writing style is. Author literally repeats every bit of dialogue right after the person says it. Example:

"While I don't intend to harm anyone through poison, I can avoid being harmed by others with this knowledge!"

While he didn't intend to kill anyone with poison, he had to be careful to not allow anyone to obtain a chance of poisoning him.

This sh*t has been driving me up the wall to the point that... more>> I'm about to drop it.

Other than that the plot is very standard for a cultivation novel - MC needs something, MC finds thing (or clues to thing) two paragraphs later. But with a heavy emphasis on that whole "you've just played yourself" thing that Chinese authors seem to love so much. Plot is entirely cyclical, everything he does in the first arc is repeated but at a tier of power and social standing higher, over and over.

Read if you can get past the redundant writing style and are just looking for a tr*shy, don't think too much about it style cultivation novel to pass the time. Don't read if you want plot or character growth or any of the stuff that makes a compelling narrative. <<less

Finally, I finished it! Wow, it's a really good novel. Of course, there are some pros as well as cons in here like any other novel, but hell, nobody's perfect!

Pros:

a) Very interesting and funny story (Especially the monologues of the side characters who got humble-bragged by the MC)

... more>> b) MC is clever and cunning enough to outwit and scam his strong enemies.

c) Knowledge is given utmost priority in this novel.

d) Everything is covered up in the novel.

e) The plot has shown the growth and improvement of MC and side-characters as well.

f) The "Feerless" Sun Qiang (:P)

Cons:

a) Romance is a disaster.

b) Luo clan marriage arc was s*upid.

c) MC's way of information collection is sub-standard or more like s*upid.

d) The library acted as the matchmaker in the romance. (LOL)

e) Unlike the arcs in Master-teacher continent, Azure and Firmament are completely lacking and less detailed.

f) MC's eye of insight level was never mentioned after sanctum of sages arc.

Overall, not a bad novel! You will definitely enjoy it! Just ignore the romance part though... <<less

Many people gives low rating about this novel, so I have to defend it as someone who already finished this.

What I like about his novel is that the character development is just sooo great. At the earlier chapters I have really low expectation about this novel, because the MC is just... a bit tr*sh. But as the story progressed he becomes better and better, especially as a teacher. Many scenes moved my heart and made me emotional.

"A teacher a day, a parent for lifetime"

I recommend this novel to you who... more>> like an emotional story. <<less

I liked the novel even though it's repetitive but I stopped reading after he changed his purpose of getting stronger because of a woman. He is too infatuated with the woman.

It was a meh story, but I continued on becuase I thought it would improve but no. The MC for some f*cking reason is obssessed with a girl who he barely interacted with. She f*cking hides her identity and steals a treasure he should of rightfully aquired. To top it all of he still simps her ffs.

A generally hilarious novel with good translation to preserve the humor. Face-slapping is the main staple of the novel so if you like that, you will enjoy the novel. Fyi, parts of wikia are kinda outdated so there are parts that are unreliable. Also, if you read comments/ reviews about horrible FMC and/or 'the wedding' event, my advice is to read the novel until the end and you will not regret it. Now, some things I like about the novel

  1. The face-slapping is always enjoyable
  2. MC has a unique personality which entertains readers
  3. The misunderstandings in the novel is really next level stuff
  4. Great world-building
  5. The portrayal of human relations, esp. Teacher-student, master-servant, and parents-child is heart-warming
What I don't like:

  1. Inconsistencies in parts of the plots
  2. Spoiler

Last 2 realms were rushed. Can you imagine that MC's journey in the Azure and Firmament are only about 500-600 chapters?

    [collapse]
  3. Rushed ending but it was slightly salvaged by the side stories

Huffft, Haaaaah, What a story

I cant describe how good this novel, but at least I can analyse and show you the aspect good point of this novel. I have read many novels. I really love novel when it tell about teacher story. I wont tell you spoiler of this novel. Just my analysis

First. World building

Many people always believe story or plot is more important than world building. But as veteran reader, world building is important coz it make story more alive for me, even story its not promising. This novel... more>> has good world building, describing how the world works, culture, power level, and realms. Its not the best for the overall story maybe, but its enough to make me press button for next chapter. For me world building is foundation of story itself. The negative of this novel, world building is not persistence enough to follow story until the last chapter. In early novel its good but around 1500 chaps story wold building are declining 1 level, maybe for majority people are not noticeable but for me is clear as day and night. But its still make this novel is good. Nobody is perfect.

Second. Plot/Story

Have good foundation in world building make story more interesting. Plots are not repeatable if u filtering story with major conflict and minor conflict. Adventuring the world, step by step building foundation in another world with cheater ability. Writer is always dramatizing MC with unexpected plot, make me more spending money in wallet just for next chapter. In the end of plot always make me amaze with few word of teacher make me more respect to the role of teacher in my life. If u ask me about romance, Its good ending, I cant describe anything because MC are devoted to one women. But it has good ending believe me.

Third. Character Development

From the brat on high school to the world teacher who respected by people of the world are long story in character development. He love low profile or humble, but he cant, coz he is cheater. But Character development are good for every aspect for MC or his student.

Conclusion

How good it is when you adventuring the world with your student and teaching many people how to live and survive. Life does not give u f*ck but you will always live in your life story. Im sorry with bad english, english is not common in my country. <<less

I honestly can't read beyond 100 chapters of this tr*sh novel.

The MC is arrogant without reason. Wherever he goes, whoever he meets, they will want to harm him without reason only to be face-slapped and then be awed by his genius. From the very first chapter of this novel, there has been nothing but a repetition of this continuous face-slapping. The author thinks that all of this is funny, it's really nothing but annoying. This novel brings nothing fresh to the table.

So far I have found nothing good about this... more>> novel, therefore it's not worth reading. <<less

This novel is so beautiful and wholesome. I did not expect it to be this good when I first started reading it. I initially picked it up because I can't get enough of reincarnation novels with OP MCs, and it covers that element wonderfully with a very welcome dose of comedy throughout, but it was the depth of the theme of student-teacher relationships in this novel that I feel really makes it special and unique.

The start of the story is quite good, sadly it slowly decays to become yet another wish fulfiller.

Some example to the decays is how while we advance on the story mc's cheats becomes more omnipotent and deus ex maquina.

Another change midstory is the shift of mc's actitude, at the start we see him using his cheat and being gratefull for it whiles also admiring those who match him without cheats, whiles later on he devolves into yet another MC who finds himself superior than others due to his mcnes.

My recomendation... more>> on this novel is to read, since its a nice read, whiles expecting to drop it at somepoint <<less

The story is good but it repeats itself after the end of each volume, so I throw the novel away for about two months and then come back to it.

This novel is great. Yes, the MC is OP, but I rather like it since it means I won't be too anxious about what happens next. The plot is interesting, the characters are likeable, and it's never boring for me. One more thing I like is that it's full of comedy, and no unnecessary bloodspilling. The misunderstandings make you want to facepalm youself on occasion, but they are solved, so it's all good. I don't see any glaring plot holes, which is also a plus.

I gave it 2 star rating cuz it was good in the start but as you read more and more chapters its all the same. MC goes to an academy become op then knows thers another stronger academy so he goes there. Its already repeated 5 times and no thrilling action or adventure whatsoever he just keeps shutting himself in the academies and acts like a hypocrite! Enemies all tries to kill him and his students but he doesnt kill his enemy he just preach them like a priest and... more>> then enemies suddenly change their mind because they cant defeat the MC and so they just bare their fangs to others and MC dont punish them just because they cant do anything to him anymore! He just watch those villains do evil deeds then he come save the day and preach them and innocent people and these keeps repeating always in new arcs! I thought MC was funny bec of his shamelessness but I realize that it wasnt he was just a HYPOCRITE! First time reading a hypocrite MC in a novel! Wasted all my time dropping this. <<less

I love this novel so much! I can understand why some people don't like it, because of the overpowered MC. But really like that part!

The MC is extremely overpowered, always wins, cultivates al least 100x as fast as anybody else, learns things just by looking at them. You might think this makes the story boring, without suspense..... wrong! The suspense is in the amount of face slapping, mistory and the world- building. There is good character building and the story has depth.

My favourite story out there!

One word to sum up this novel: FACESLAPPING

Every character introduced in this novel will get face-slapped, figuratively and literally, even animals will get face slapped.

Just think of this novel as comedy, put your critical thinking brain away. Don't compare this to other serious action novels and you will probably have a good time.

The 1st time reading a novel and I like it a lot. Read up to 1310 chapters before reviewing.

Good Points:

MC (Main Character) is not so OP unlike other MC so it is good to see how he struggles out of most of the problems.

... more>> Excellent Humors & 1% adult jokes (misunderstanding for these kind of jokes)

Story seem "obvious" but it ain't how you think. You will be shock by some twists and laugh hard. [I don't know about other but I like the story line a lot]

MC is funny and righteous in his own way. His heart only beat for one girl and he ain't sway by any other girls.

=======================================================================

Bad Points:

MC is dumb and forgetful sometime but his feiging expert is top-notch. [Well, neglectable for me as it is only sometime]

Library of Heaven's Path book is still a mystery. [Only some parts of the skills are mention for the book but I can tolerance it as it is still ongoing. The author might mention more later in the story.]

Some repetition of same meaning need to be reduce. E.g. Dialogue explains something by characters but explains again in non-dialogue.

=======================================================================

Some say that romance make no sense for cultivation novels or Xuanhuan genre just because they fall in love at first sight.

But I don't think that's true. When someone is beautiful or handsome and has outstanding skills, it makes sense to fall in love at first sight. But, If someone doesn't has those, then, it makes no sense. Attitude and behaviour come only after falling in love. Up to 1310 chapters, I find no reason for male and female protagonist not to like each others. They are doing fine for now. So I am good with how this romance is going.

==========

One of the main point of the story is not to get c*cky or overestimated oneself in real world in my opinion. Face slapping hurt for other characters or genius characters but that's how it goes most of the time even in real world as MC barely stay at one place. So most couldn't find out his exact strength. Well, I like how MC keeps slapping but he only did when necessary. So no problem for me.

TL;DR: I had fun reading this and can recommend it if you're bored, just understand that the author has no sense of time (2 days are like a week in the novel) and the novel gets repetitive after a while.

i enjoyed how the action comes mainly from MC's talking, rather than actual fights, but it gets repetitive after a couple hundred chapters. Author also doesn't know how to explain things, I think people call this "infodump" or something like that, but that doesn't even bother me that much, what REALLY... more>> bothers me is how things seem to not exist before they come up in the story, this includes power creep but not just that since information plays a important role in the story, example: the levels of cultivation are 9 fighter levels, 9 transcendent levels and (so far) 9 saint levels. You'd think that these classifications (fighter, transcendent, saint) would be common knowledge, but nope, no one knows about anything outside their imediate social environment.

One might think "well, they don't have cellphones and internet so they can't spread information too far" but they do have magical-tech in this world, and they could just print loads of books.

So these are my main complaints: repetitive; shallow and one-dimensional world; shallow and one-dimensional characters. Other than that you have the usual problems with cultivation novels: power creep, people are too easily offended/care too much about dignity, often make irrational decisions seemingly to bring the story forward and so on. Oh yeah, there's also the misunderstandings that give me crippling anxiety as well. <<less
