The moment the little tyrant of the nobles, Roel Ascart, saw his stepsister, he recalled his memories. He realized that he was in the world of a gal game he played in his previous life. To make things worse, he was the greatest villain in the common route of the game!

“I’ll be killed by the main character and the four capture targets ten years from now. Is there still any hope for me?”

Just thinking about the fearsome glints of those sharp swords those beautiful capture targets held in their hands, Roel couldn’t help but tremble in fear.

Till a voice finally sounded in his head.

Honestly soo good. There is a clearly defined goal, the author makes all the characters quite deep, there is a little silliness sometimes for great comedic effect, but silliness never affects the plot significantly, so you can enjoy it without worrying about consequences.

Because superficial plot devices aren't used heavily, the plot is very solid, and characters always act consistent to their personalities/ideals.

The translation is very good as well, I wouldn't know it was written in Chinese originally unless I was told, and the nationalism vibe which can be felt in... more>> some Chinese novels isn't really existent.

It reminds me most of "Release that Witch", but even then it's very different and quite unique.

Harem aspects are quite weak where it's been translated up too, and every time they introduce more characters they do it in such a way that you empathise the new characters being introduced, their relationship feels genuine. I generally don't like harems, but the relationships developed thus far seem natural, so it hasn't turned me off at all so far.

All in all, it's a very original novel that is very clever, amusing, and it's been executed very well thus far <<less

Quite.. Refreshing! There are so many great stories or premises out there hampered by bland execution or the usual predictable generic writing, you can't even imagine how tired I am of those, so it really was a nice surprise for me when I stumbled upon this. It feels like a 45% chinese, 45% korean, and 10% japanese mix of a webnovel, mostly in the vibe I get. Honestly just read it; worldbuilding, foreshadowing, events, action, power system, comedy, interaction, and storytelling are on-point and you can tell wonderful, and well-used... more>> modern/cliche-ic influences in the story - it may not be for everyone as it follows the usual harem route with some wordiness, but hey, this is easily one of my favorites if it keeps going the way it is.

I always feel lighthearted and satisfied after reading it - and I feel it is meant to be enjoyed that way. I think one of the reasons why I really like it is the different execution from most novels, subversion, and proper self-awareness given to the MC ensuring everything's not just plot-armor but has a reason to it even if it's 'fate', but honestly, it's not a problem to me if the setting is following a certain 'storyline' - it's just interesting to me. And this is not a spoiler mind you.

The current tl website has a minimalistic, clean, and comfortable design, and the community of each chapter is active and fun, courtesy of the author's quality efforts, responsiveness, and interaction.

If you do read it, have fun! <<less

So far story is good. It has same story plot lines like many novels but then also it is enjoyable. Translation quality is good and it is worth reading. Story building and world building is going well and it's not just romance it also has some action, politics and lot of misunderstandings. Nothing is going as our MC wanted🤣🤣......

A completely different written style novel compared to other Chinese novel. The novel style and setting got heavily influenced by Japanese novel, but execute really well that we can hardly find any flow for criticism.

The story flow well, the romance interests fell for MC for a reason (unlike most of other Chinese novels that the female characters usually almost instantly fell in love with MC for no reason at all), there's no arrogance young master bullshit. So read it and you'll likely to appreciate this masterpiece later!

Also a huge thanks... more>> to the translator for doing a really good work at translate the novel almost daily with amazing quality! ❤️ <<less

Original Review: 5/5, Around Chapter 30

I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would.

The characters generally acts like human beings, which is rarer than you might think in Chinese novels, and the MC acts like a non-creepy adult in a kids body.

... more>> The world-building is solid and the interactions feel logical and well planned out.

I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Update: 2/5, Around Chapter 150

Forget what I said about it not being creepy, it got creepy.

The author at some point began obviously dragging out his work for the sake of word count, and contrived bullsh*t became the main driver of the plot. The characters never moved past the initial tropes that defined them and all interactions are based on misunderstandings and the MC being a pushover who literally couldn't stand up for himself if his life depended on it. The supporting cast became thoroughly unlikeable and the MC isn't even a character, the story feels like it's just things happening to him rather than a story about him.

Thoroughly disappointed in this one, had a lot of potential but devolved into standard JP grok (which is weird because it's Chinese). <<less

It is pretty good Chinese novel. It is a reincarnation into a gal game. Setting is not bad. Characters aren't all one dimensional. Giant plus for the main character not being a giant mu*der hobo... at least not until his family was provoked. It honestly also has the "tone" of a Chinese novel... I can't really explain. Highlight outside of the novel itself is the great translation, and pretty funny comments.

As of chapter 51, this story is awesome.

The protagonist in this story is currently not over powered. In fact they are quite weak. As a result, the flow of the story is quite natural making it quite gripping unlike some other stories that rely on over powered characters. It is worth a read. The translation of this story is excellent also. You can tell that effort is put into it. This does not read like a partially grammar corrected machine translation.

Oh wow, I don't usually leave a review, but I think this novel deserves one as it is quite well-written and there are hardly any reviews... anyway, it's funny how I learnt that this is a Chinese author novel only after reading all available translated chapters then looking in the review section and checking the tags... It is read very easily and as galge game novel is usually a Japanese novel there you have it. So yes, this novel feels quite Japanesy anyway, no Chinese novel defining troupes aside from... more>> arrogant tr*sh young master but even that is severely downplayed and feels more western to be honest. Reminded me a bit of the My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending but the MC in these novels are fundamentally different, here our MC is actually affected by his body, that is he feels himself as a child, he can cry and will act as a very mature kid sometimes... and even before the transmigration he was an ordinary otaku youth. He doesn't feel like some kind of genius that can tackle any problems nor does he feel as a moron that survives by luck, he is a MC who is shaped by his own efforts as even when he was asking to be made a tool of the system so he can be just bossed around until he becomes op the systems denied him, identifying itself as "Passive" one. As I am a big fan of MDFSNSoE I really like the situation of transmigrating into a game/novel and becoming a mid BOSS and trying to survive in the hostile world so I enjoyed this novel quite a bit, of course it is not a masterpiece like MDFSNSoE but it is enjoyable read after all...

(P.S. As of chapter 28, he still is pretty tr*shy F- young master but he is at least an adult in the body of a child so he is mature and smart for his age and with his system he has room for growth... although I doubt he will become stronger than his little sister yandere and sad*st princess... as they are just over the top op...) <<less

Well the book's finally done. It was a good read. Towards the end it got a bit off but it is probably because the Author was rushing to finish. This does not mean that we had glaring rushed scenes but the feeling was there.

Coming to the book itself. It is a very good book that blends elements of MC reincarnated as the villain and the system together. Harem is also an important aspect on this one so people who don't like it will have to sit this one out.

Plot:

Spoiler

MC reincarnates into a galge as a minor villain and brother of Heroine. He gets his memory back when he sees the heroine for the first time and gets on the job right away to break his death flags. He has a system which gives him points for getting affection from other people and has a shop which he can spend those points in. Points are also spent in the earlier part of the story to upgrade his "potential" from tr*sh to MC level and everytime he has to breakthrough the cultivation ranks he has to use points for "safety" reasons.

Main plot is that there are 2 god level entities who are squabbling for control of the planet with their proxies since they themselves are in hibernation. MC is trying to prevent their followers from awakening the gods and pull out his death flags at the same time. He also is able to hook up with the heroines while doing this since Author wants it.

He doesn't really pay attention to the events of the actual game too much beyond the major ones so this is a little different from the other stories where the MC has foresight and plays the plot to their advantage/tries to keep plot consistency. None of that here.

The story ends with him getting married to his harem off screen (we only get the prep until the wedding begins in an epilogue chapter)

[collapse]

Characters:

MC- Dense as a rock is his main trait. He doesn't recognize romance until the girls are straight with him. But he does take it seriously and does not go into denial that they are joking or some sh*t like a lot of JP MCs tend to do. He has a sense of self worth and is very much ready to put everything he has on the line if he feels that his family/ harem members are going to be in trouble. Overall he is a likable guy.

His power comes from contracting with the souls of powerful gods from the past like how we have the servant summonings in the fate franchise. In here he has to go into a test dungeon that are created by the gods who are interested in making a contract with him and passing the trials (often accompanied by a harem member to brush up on their likability towards MC) allows him to call on the gods during battles and use their abilities. He starts of pretty weak but he has just enough strength to deal with the problems that are thrown his way. So the author kept the stakes engaging throughout the story.

Harem:

Not too big. We got 5 ladies here.

Spoiler

Alicia: The sister that starts the story off. She is a main member of one the gods factions. So we have some drama there. Add even more drama due to her being the MCs "sister". She is the first heroine we as readers are introduced to but joins the harem officially last. Most of the story she keeps trying to get past the "sister" barrier. Their interactions in the earlier part of the story when they were still behaving as proper siblings was very cute. Once she is aware of her feelings things shift gears and whenever we see her on screen she while still cute looses the fluffy vibe you get at the start.

Nora: Princess of the country that MC and his family belong to. She falls for the MC since he is the only one who understands her "secret" personality. One of the few instances of the MC using his game knowledge towards his benefit. Again her interactions with him before she falls for him were very unique since she is a sad*st and likes to treat MC as her pet. No hardcore stuff just the way the dialog is. She will not disrespect him or look down on him, it is just her asserting her ownership on him most of the time. She is also MCs childhood friend.

Charlotte: Daughter of the head of a merchant group that "rules" a neighboring country. MC unknowingly saves her father using one of the system items since he was looking to make some cash by selling his unique items that he got from the system. That gets her interested in him and she becomes his sponsor financially once she falls for him. She was MCs fiance as discussed by elders in the family but due to MCs villanous reputation before the awakening of his memories she initially has a bad impression of him and comes to break off the engagement by buying the MC off after learning that he is in need of money. MC also agrees since he really does need the money but she falls for him before they can go through with the contract so she just supports him anyway. She is my personal favorite due to how cute she acts with the MC.

Lilian: Princess of another country neighboring the MC's country. She is MC's senior at school and gets interested in the MC after observing his upgraded talent. She is also the older sister of the original Protagonist of the game that the world is based on. She is bloodline kin with the MC which is to say she is another "sister" character that just doesn't have the same parents as the MC. She starts as cold and calculating and tries to push the MC down since he is a noble of the country that her home country is hostile to. MC also takes in the game's original MC into his faction that she doesn't like as she doesn't like a royal of her country working under a noble from a hostile country. She r*pes the MC and gets pregnant with his child after falling for him since she knows that their countries are in a hostile relationship and it is not possible for them to get married. After MC finds out about it he convinces her to become lovers and she works towards the goal of making sure that she can marry the MC in the future.

Wilhelmina: She is also a princess from a foreign country. She has been instructed from birth to be a retainer of the MC and act as his bodyguard to the extent of giving her life if needed. She isn't alone in this and has a whole crew of friends who help her with this same goal. She falls for the MC after the MC tells her that her life is just as important as his own and puts his life on the line multiple times to save hers.

[collapse]

Side characters:

The side characters actually have well defined goals and personalities so they don't feel like aimless NPCs to act as a peanut gallery and praise the protagonist. In fact more often than not it is the MC that ends up relying on other characters to help him out with what he needs to get done. I really liked how the MC actually bothers to involve the people whom you would expect to be involved in any given situation rather than just doing everything solo.

Translation:

The translation is fantastic. There were some issues with the release schedule towards the end but now everything is out so that is not an issue for new readers. Thank you to the translators and editors for working so hard on this book and translating it to the end.

I definitely recommend people read this one. I just had a few little things that I didn't really feel good about like how the system completely vanishes into the void around the middle of the story so it is only used for his initial powerups and whenever he makes a breakthrough. The system shop and items in that never come up in later arcs. The other thing would be the ending as it felt like there was much more that could have been explored but the author just cut it short for whatever reason. Still a very nice story overall so if you like Harem you should definitely read this one. <<less

It's getting boring overtime. I really hate how author forcefully make MC looks weak when facing new enemy even though he's very strong when defeating previous enemy.

Spoiler & rant about recent chapter:

Spoiler

He literally defeat god lvl enemy (yeah, I know it's not last boss lvl) yet still struggle when facing his sister and his ancestor. Well the ancestor should slap all enemy when she was alive if she's as strong as MC who defeated god lvl enemy. Author really like to deliberately make MC weak even though he's one of strongest human in that world by using excuse of his trancedent lvl. Heck he defeat enemy that other person with higher trancedent lvl than him couldn't.

[collapse]

Pretty decent start but when it reach 500++ chapters, it's no different than other China novel where the pattern is enemy appear and stronger than MC, MC struggle, MC manage to defeat it, another enemy appear again stronger than MC.

Sick of this lol, not gonna unbookmark but gonna pile the chapter and gonna read it time to time. From 4.5 stars > 3 stars <<less

I don’t disagree with the low scorers that it can be obnoxious how lenient he is with the love interests. Additionally, their ages make the romance honestly quite creepy, despite the setting.

Despite that, I rated it 5 stars because I genuinely enjoy pretty much everything in the novel apart from that. The world building is quite good, the power scaling is reasonable and the characters are broadly complex. The power scaling especially felt nice since it was never really convenient to the main character. Convenient in this context meaning the... more>> main character was whatever power level he needed to be to fight whoever he had to fight. Most series are pretty awful on being consistent with the main character’s strength relative to the world.

The love interests aren’t flat characters and they aren’t just left to the wayside after their arcs like what happens in most stories. They stay relevant, even if the nature of the plot means we often don’t see some of them for multiple arcs in a row. He’s somewhat of a pushover for them, but it’s to an extent I can overlook.

Overall if you read the tags and want to read it, I’d recommend it. <<less

Only CN novel I read I actually like, (I didn't read lotm so don't hate me).

The best thing about the novel is the characters interactions, and the vast worldbuilding which seems really deep.

The harem is as good as it can be, every girl has her own personality and loves our MC a LOT.

... more>> It's really heartwarming to see how much they care for each other, be it in the scenarios or in their every day life.

Personally I don't mind the things that they did to Roel (i.e kidnapping him lol), it makes the characters more alive and not some robots-like women in most CN novels, and makes the story interesting. <<less

It starts off rather fun in a guilty pleasure sort of way, and I'd rate the first 100ish chapters a solid 4, but I personally find that as it adds more and more characters and continually buffs up the MC, I care less and less.

Eventually I just gave up on the story entirely when I realized I had stopped caring completely.

Story was interesting. Progressed pretty good and didn't have MC became so strong then boom new power level cliche that other chinese novels had.

Alicia is most annoying of all.

first of all, I've completed the novel by reading the MTL's.

there were quite some words doesn't make sense and Character names that doesn't match at all. But if you could bear through it, it's a great read!

I never seen a Main character that made the word "Dancing with death itself" an understatement. But Roel Ascart is an anomaly. There were many times when I thought the "Battles" between the MC and the Villains was over, but of course it doesn't. Some fights has even gotten into a bigger scheme of... more>> things.

it sure does make the story more intense and made me more immersed to it but I also do think giving some breaks to the struggles MC going through is nice. Especially giving Roel more interactions with the love interests cause I love each of em!

my only complain here is that the ending seems really rushed, me and the others I think personally would love an after story like the wedding actually being described and make it really alive and as well after that! The normal lives between them after they've married and have kids.

on that review, after 10 days of nonstop reading it. It's been a very pleasant read for me!

Edit Update:

I had to update this review as lately I see the bad reviews coming in to this Fantastic Novel,

here. Even though its a harem its actually fulfilling one, The novel actually! Puts time and great story telling for each love interest. even one of the Arcs where the Mother Goddess was included had made me cry like a b*tch. STILL YOU LOT!

if you really can't tell the difference between REALITY and FICTION,

it's best to read something else!! <<less

Despite what some 1* reviewers claim, this novel is definitely not your off-the-mill isekai tr*sh. The character interactions are fun, and there's plenty of "tension" between the MC and his "harem". The setting is pretty well written while the plot is entertaining enough to keep you engaged.

Spoiler

The author writes a lot of info about the world, I can't say it's bad cuz it's called world building and one piece and other well renowned movies/series/books does that

[collapse]

Characters:

Spoiler

Nora she's a sadistic angel but can't really inflict pain with her sadistic tendencies it's said by a maid, it's actually funny totally a good point.

Alicia:

MC foster sister she's the only true yandere from the female main cast but she isn't in the level of inflicting pain on MC so she end up being a weird type of yandere, she's almost just a kuudere than anything else or a weirdo...

Charlotte is the rich girl she's... just that, now that I think about it... but likes to make clothes to MC and... really can't talk much about her she's the most forgettable but has a nice story arc

Lilian: She's the enemy country princess cold to anyone except her loved one has the same bloodline as the MC overprotective cuz she's also a brocon

Wilhelmina? I remember it being her name, she's the tomboy, wear armor ddn't appear much she's the last revealed harem character it wasn't revealed yet but all tips says that she's muscular, uses sword on a magic world

MC: he is exactly like a virg*n who didn't date anyone in his entire life, is dense and probably a neet.

now after being transmigrated: he is the same but cares way more about his own survival, most reviews actually skip the fact that he didn't date anyone, I know people who never dated anyone and he is exactly like one, he don't get the tips and is dense anyway at chapter 300+ he start to think about it so he get a little bit more on the offensive but not much something always stops him like to alicia is he thinking of her as a sister, the others someone appear to stop the fun even though they ddn't even reach close to... you know...

[collapse]

The world:

Spoiler

it's happening a lot of things in this world the entire humanity is fighting some ancient fallen civilization and there's also evil cultists trying to revive a big bad god, it looks like a good plot right? yeah it is but the author prefers focus on other things at least till MC gets strong enough to fight gods hand to hand

[collapse]

Overall it's a good plot, not to those that thinks world building is bad, but the author likes to focus on little things like what is the situation of cleaning and health on the world, flood control, allies/enemy country what which character thinks of the others...

also one last point people forgot to say:

Spoiler

All girls aren't yandere but they know better than anyone that MC bloodline makes it hard to have babies and his family end up more on battle than you know (segss)... so they fight each other and don't want to give him to other, like they said "If the trophy is so little why should I share it?"

The world building and lore is very in depth compared to most Korean and Japanese Novels I've read. Even small details are not skimped over in the story very much, however the author has a habit of giving the readers tons of unneeded details that don't develop the story, and bog it down. It's subjective if the reader enjoys this, I've personally skipped over some paragraphs that I really couldn't care about during tense story situations even though I love small details. We should probably call that bad writing, not... more>> that it destroys all the other good aspects of the story.

Roel is the name of the person who the author wants to be the main character. He is decently written early on but it's obvious he could use some character development, and it doesn't really happen. I've realized a couple things while reading this story. The author likes repeating themes, likes small details, and most importantly wants Roel to have a harem. He destroys Alice and Noras complex characters, and inputs ton of plot convenience so Roel doesn't have to change. Charlottes personality is reduced to calling Roel darling through her loyalty trait, and nothing else really.

Lillian is reduced to loving Roel through an obnoxious amount of emotional manipulation through resonance and them both being told to f*ck along with her convenient brother kink. You can say things like the bond that brought you together is just as real, but lets be honest they still barely know each other and the amount of convenient things happening made by the author shows how extremely shallow a relationship it is. When the author has the bad guy mention this he essentially has Roel say he not qualified to say it, well I am Roel. He is told to get her pregnant, forced into kiss and then they turn him into a shota right after because lillian is a distant person who won't join the harem or make moves of her own unless the author forces her too because she isn't really invested in the relationship.

Paul the original MC/ not her real brother also shared a bonds with her. If you legitimately cared about who she actually fell in love with, his bonds were a lot stronger than Roels since there was no need for resonance. Overall I'm a bit disappointed in what the story has turned into. You once said fate is about choice, but I don't see a choice being given to Lilliana here with them being thrust together. <<less
