The moment the little tyrant of the nobles, Roel Ascart, saw his stepsister, he recalled his memories. He realized that he was in the world of a gal game he played in his previous life. To make things worse, he was the greatest villain in the common route of the game!

“I’ll be killed by the main character and the four capture targets ten years from now. Is there still any hope for me?”

Just thinking about the fearsome glints of those sharp swords those beautiful capture targets held in their hands, Roel couldn’t help but tremble in fear.

Till a voice finally sounded in his head.

Up until ch 130, I greatly enjoyed binging this novel and would rate it as a solid 4-stars.

It only took the 10 chapters from 130-140 to make this story dead to me. A complete dumpster fire of disappointment. I have read 100+ various translated novels from start to finish, and this is one of only 4 novels that I just couldn't stomach continuing to the next chapter.

Would not recommend that you waste your time only to quit less than 1/4th into the story.

Pretty much the timeline of the story is a day to day basis. Hundreds of chapters barely even cover a years worth of filler.

Honestly, the MC and the cast are just 10yr old kids. However, the situation they're in is a disgusting love triangle. There isn't much going for this story other than that plot point.

Sure the MC has a system and a bloodline, but the amount of time wasted on exposition kills the story in the long run. Let alone the author's need to have multiple POVs every other... more>> chapter which describes the same event over and over again. It gets old fast and the reading is a chore at this point.

I give this a solid 3/5 <<less

Started really well, I was expecting a lot of this series but I had to drop this after 400 chapers because at this moment is a complete non-sense bunch of harem collector, plot armor and the MC being brain damaged.

Let's start about the premise, he's the villain and have to avoid the death flags, okay after 200 chapters he's just chilling around with his harem, and obviusly like almost all harem novels, it start to suck, because every girl is replaced after 50 chapters, their interactions are non-logical and specially... more>> on this novel there is not a real romance.

Fight, okay started really nice but at this moment is :
Spoiler

MC summon 1 of the 3 ancient gods and they're so op that just plot armor everything, literally the battles are so short that is disgusting not even explaining things, also the interactions with the gods are horrible, started like friends, and they're now like s*aves, the just need mana to do some insane sh*t that have 0 sense, and is not even epic because the author doesnt know how to elaborate a fight.

[collapse]

Every harem member or side character have a flat brain, they dont act as individuals they just live for the MC, they dont do anything, doesnt have their own thoughs, they just think how good is the MC, I want to follow him, oh he's so good I need to do effort to do random thing A. The harem members are even worse, at this point
Spoiler

everyone is in an academy, they dont have a single interaction, plus idk why everything is set at the 12yo mark, but hey its a fantasy world u mature faster, but I dont think so is the usual dense beta japan MC who can even give a kiss or a hug after overcome a disaster with one of their cheerleaders. And yes because their impact after their own arc they're just cheerleaders with less impact in the story that City Guard A

[collapse]

I think this have decent ratings because had a great start, the premise looks nice, the initial world building was nice also, but the actual direction is to a 3 stars novel, is okay to read it, but dont expect anything about the plot, after the 100 chapters mark is dissapointing and u'll end like me forced to read it because u dont want to waste the previous time.

TL, DR : Average harem collector, predictable, fillers chapters overextending non-sense arcs, and the plot armor is inmesurable. (2/5 because is readable and the translator did a nice work, but need to compensate the average stars of this novel, because is so far from the real 5* like The novel's extra, 2nd coming of gluttony, etc) <<less

This is good. It's kinda in line with others in the genre so it's not really special in that regard, but it pulls the old clichés off better than most. It's been mentioned before, but it can't be stated enough that the heroines are one of the main attractions in that they are fleshed out and feel like real characters. All of that however comes secondary to how good the comedy is. It's a little subtle sometimes but there is a bit of high quality humor through out the how... more>> show.

i.e:

Spoiler

"Paul’s ass has caused a divergence from the game, which is good news since something is happening, but how will it help me save Astrid?" (Paul is the original protagonist of the game world by the way)

Story was great until MC's brain turned into a JP isekai typical blur MC. You have his harem members practically throwing themselves at him every second, like forcefully kissing him, abducting him to a far country to sleep with him, sleeping with him under false pretense (just sleeping). You get the point, the girls are fawning over him and have stated as much. But our MC is so ret*rded (or that much of a dick) that he never so much acknowledges that there are romantics feelings between him and the... more>> haremetes. The most he has said is that they are "important" to him.

There was an arc in the novel that epitimized my frustration. MC was abducted by one of his harem members and she was basically psyching him up to eventually losing his v*rginity.I was practically f*cking cheering cause losing his v*rginity would mean some sort of progress in the romance. There was another arc where the harem members basically went after MC for some sort of answer to what their relationship is. The MC hits them with the "you are all important to me" and of course thats enough for them.

also, I hate the dynamic between him and his sister.

tldr: dont read this if your coming for the romance, cause gods its so f*cking dog shit <<less

It has a good start, but as someone already said dialogues are really a pain to read, background stories don't add to the development for the most part, MC is scared of romance and it's awkward to see this.

Dude if you like men say it, it's 2021, it's okay, but make a choice :)

Sadly for many reasons the story isn't going anywhere, and I'm dropping it after leaving this comment.

Rating is for translation quality only.

Excellent translation all around, I would have no issue getting this after paying for an official localization.

Sadly, I can't say the same for the story itself. This novel has an unusually high amount of issues you can expect from both shounen and harem types of plot. The general setting and events of this novel do have some appeal, but how much you can enjoy them will depend on your tolerence for those problems. I will try to make a comprehensive list of issues I have... more>> had, and also comment on some I've seen in other reviews.

First, the most common complaint I've seen: characters being very young and being romantic interests (in a creepy way). This is undeniably true, and all the sh*t about the mana of the world making characters age faster is obvious pathetic excuses the author added 150 chapters in. There is absolutely no reason for this excuse of a setting to be here other than having 10 year olds act like adults. There would be no difference at all if the setting was removed and characters were 4 or so years older instead. And, if you think you don't care about this because you don't find underage romance in fiction offensive, take a look at this line of dialog first:

“I beg to differ, Your Highness. A harmonious family is the foundation of happiness. There are people who devote their lives just to have what we have. I don’t think that we should intentionally distance ourselves from one another out of fear of what others may think.”

This line is spoken by a 7 year old. So that should give you an idea of what you can expect. It's not only creepy, it's just plain absurd.

Next, the novel has quite a high amount of inconsistencies. Most seem to be the author forgetting small details which will only make you a bit confused if you're paying attention, but there are a few jarring ones. There was one right in the latest chapter (last line of chapter 342 and start of 343 don't match up). Some might be TL errors, but translation seems pretty good and thorough so I doubt it. It made me go back through old chapters to make sure I didn't misremember something a few times, but overall unless you're new to web novels, this probably won't be a deal breaker. However, note that I'm not including "characters doing something not conistent with their personality" in here. The characters made me wish they'd start being more inconsistent with how they've been acting, so I won't be speaking of that at all.

This novel also has a lack of focus on everything except romance. On a few occasion it starts something that sounds interesting, like domain management or a school arc, but before doing anything much at all with it goes back to the generic harem shounen routine. Witness state, MC almost dies saving new heroine, focus on how much new heroine wants MC's d*ck for a bit, then the girls fight each others over MC who doesn't do anything about it. Same thing every time. And none of it displays any interesting interactions. I even feel like interesting interactions are actively avoided. The author seems to also forget entirely about some elements that were introduced early on. Remember that first antagonist with his evil cult and all? What about MC's necklace that passively makes people like him, is that still a thing? Haven't heard of those things in like 300 chapters. I have seen people say the point exchange system was also forgotten about, however that is untrue. That still comes in regularly.

I've seen "too much information dump" being mentionned, and although there have been instances of information being given which did not seem to have any purpose, I did not find this to be a significant issue. In fact I'd rather have had more of those world building and history dumps than the repetitive template shounen and harem events that fill up most of the novel.

Speaking of which, I'll get into those shounen and harem tropes. First, the shounen part is nothing special and it might even be a positive if that's your thing. But if you're tired of every fight needing to have a ""surprise"" upset, and you agree that MC ending up near dead doesn't mean jack sh*t when it happens every god damn time, then be aware that you're gonna be getting plenty of that here.

And finally, the harem shit. This is my top issue with this novel. Mostly because it is so incessant. It's like the author is unable to go half a chapter without writing about how every girl wants to f*ck MC. Of course, you have the usual MC who has no will of his own. You have the girls who say they love MC so much yet their actions can only be seen as them not caring about him, which unintentionally makes them unlikable. You know the deal, anything you find infuriating about harem novels is included here. But above all, it's the sheer level of focus the author puts on the harem romance that kills this novel for me. I usually have a pretty moderate tolerance for it, so if yours isn't high, I highly recommend you avoid this novel. Especially since the harem sh*t takes a while to kick in and then gets worse and worse, which is gonna be a real disappointing time. Same goes for the shounen sh*t by the way. The first 50 or so chapters might make you wonder what I'm even talking about, but it gets real bad.

I'll leave you with this simple line I kept hoping MC could just come out and say, even if it would be very much inconsistent with his previous idiotic self. Hopefully this can show why a novel in which the MC should be saying this, but has absolutely no possibility of doing so, is infuriating. (Not really spoilers, but that's subjective)

Spoiler

"Listen, we're kind of in a crisis right now. Powerful evil cults are trying to kill me, I'm in a really weakened state, and to top it off I think some evil god is watching me and probably trying to end the world. I don't think it's the right time for romance, and when I see you fighting each others or trying to seduce me constantly in these circumstances, it's not giving me a good impression of you either. Especially when I find you're using lies and deception. At least for the moment, let's openly talk and cooperate with each others, alright?"

This... sucks... lol...

I really have tried to like this and have pushed forward after many times telling myself that I've lost interest and was skimming more and more as it goes on.

The originally fun and promising idea of future romance that is introduced in the early chapters was often ruined by the cringe lo*icon harem the author is forcing with 8-10 year olds and the Mac's very very dense behavior.

Unfortunately, the author who wants to force this lo*icon romance but has no actual ability to write lo*icon characters. The 8-10... more>> year old girls talk, act, and scheme like politicians and well studied adult professionals and then flip back to suddenly acting like the little children that they are. The random contrast in their age and their s*xual desires and intellectual abilities and defined character traits are obnoxiously immersion breaking.

Now, the novel does time skips which eventually helps a bit but not nearly enough. Far far too long does it linger on the s*xual tension of forcibly adult-like children. But then once those very tiny time skips happen he continues on by being extremely dense about their affections and plots.

Top it off with originally hopefully fun female character development taking a turn for the worse as they develop into r@pey psychos who honestly just kind of ruin the story. And of course instead of having any interesting or redeemable characteristics, the MC just lets everyone walk all over him and never is proactive about anything. But PLOT ARMOR! WOO! With no interesting interaction on his part, romance and intrigue is thrown his way by literal magic! Yes. Magic. He's fatally appealing to the opposite s*x because of magic. It's actually part of the story, and the writing reflects it. He does nothing at all to build an interesting romance and it just happens because -magic- and that's why he's a very very boring character. <<less

Started of as good and then became worse later on, if you think about it, MC is clearly at the age where he should at least have common sense but he acts like 5 year toddler. Character are unrealistic and as well plot progression which gets worse later on, Idk what author was smoking during writing this story but I advice him to seek medical help since he doesn't even how human reacts to different situation. In the end I was tempted to give this story 1 or 2 star... more>> but due to diligence of TL team I couldn't, though I still don't what was going though people's mind when they trended this story and gave it 5 stars <<less

I would agree with most reviewers that this is much better than your regular web novels. Which just goes to show the what abysmal quality your average web novel has. This series has its funny moments and nice scenes. I'm not going to bother listing criticism, but I will say that it is odd how these are supposedly all 10 years old, but with the way they act I couldn't imagine them as anything other than 16+. It's not much of an issue in the novel format. But this would... more>> be very creepy is it were animated, as in that case you literally see that they are 10 years old.

This novel was on my last ditch list to get some enjoyment out of reading WNs, and I'm sort of thankful that this series has made it so much clearer that the WN scene is not for me. After all, this series is one of the better ones. After finishing the last few WNs on the list, I will be going to my local library and borrowing books recced by friends or even reddit instead of continuing to trudge through these bot boosted high rated web novels.

If you're still in the stage where you enjoy wish fulfillment MCs, I'd say go for these sort of web novels. But once the allure of having fictional female characters fawn over a self-insert MC wears off and you just want to read good stories, I recommend ditching the WN scene entirely. I really enjoy slapstick style harem comedies myself, but there are just way too few well written ones out there to justify the trawl. Get novels recs from friends or the internet. There are so many great novels out there (Example: search "15 Sci-Fi Books You Should Definitely Read reddit") <<less

Started off good, but progressively turned to sh*t as the author kept on collecting girls for his harem. The final straw for me was that the MC, who knows that he should avoid the imperial princess, kept on doing the opposite. He actively went near her and when she gave him the cold shoulder he became sad. Like what the F is that all about? It's like the author was just pushing it so that he MC can have all the girls (the 1st and 2nd girls were acceptable, but... more>> the 3rd and 4th? Both were too forced).

The worst part of all this was that for some reason people kept on giving this, average at best, novel a 5* when it should be 3* instead (549 people gave this a 5*). It seemed like the bulk of the reviewers were bots. <<less

In my opinion I really liked the development of the characters, it makes you have a greater charisma for them, less the alicia, even though she is wrong in certain situations during the course of the story, she pretends to be sad or starts to cry to put a feeling of guilt in the MC, this is very irritating because the protagonist cannot resist and ends up consoling and pampering her more and more.

It's not that good and undeserving of it's rating. The translator issues these "quests" on his website in exchange for more chapters so don't get tricked by it's high ratings.

Onto the novel, it's very entry level. It checks all the tropes of your typical Japanese isekai. It's the type you will only read if you have nothing else to read.

The worst part of this novel is the system which is treated as a gag BUT gives the MC, OP and convenient shit

Oh and lastly this one is pe*o baiting with... more>> it's children romance, you will often see underdeveloped 8-10 year old girls throwing s*xual innuendos. <<less

Not that bad, but not that good either.

I join the others saying that little kids acting like teenagers is creepy as hell. Especially when "romance" is such a huge part of the story. There's way too many s*xual innuendos and little kids lusting after one another. As far as I've read, the creepy romance seems to take a good half (if not 2/3) of the story.

And no, simply saying "Yes but in this story, kids mature a lot earlier and even marry at 14" is not a good excuse. Unless... more>> your kids have teenager bodies and minds at 7 years old, it is going to be creepy.

Besides that, I enjoy the plot and the antagonists. Maybe a bit too much info dumps here and there, but I've seen way worse.

If you remove the "romance" part, I would give it a 4 or 5 stars. <<less

It is embarrassing how this novel managed to snagged high ratings on this website

It's your typical run-of-the-mill Japanese isekai harem garbage with a beta MC. BUT this time the harem are mostly U N D E R A G E.

The MC is bland as hell and is an actual man child who gets his nose led by his underage harem and yeah plot armor and deus ex after another gets handed unto him by silver platter.

The girls? Well nothing you haven't seen before, so I wouldn't go in depth on... more>> them

Unnecessary infodumps are ever present and only exist to bloat up the novel word count.

Lastly the worst criminal of all is the utter inane and nonsensical SYSTEM. <<less

Disclaimer: As some of the old reviews have mentioned there was a period where people would post reviews with high ratings at the translators request, incentivized by more chapters. This review is in no way influenced by that as I've only started reading the novel January 12th 2021 way after the incident occurred

4.5

What keeps me coming back to this one and patiently waiting for updates is the characters. The MC and the love interests are all very solid characters and their interactions with one another is the key that makes... more>> this story good. The author does a real good job of making you initially hate a love interest only to find out the motivations of what they do and make them sympathetic. Now that doesn't mean the background characters aren't interesting to read as well. I personally think the MC's father is one of the most interesting characters of all despite not being directly involved in the plot.

As to answer a few people grips about the character age. It's clearly mentioned near the star there will be a timeskip to age 14 to the school arc cause that's where the "Game" officially starts. Also due to the magic of the world the character bodies age faster to maturity so in the same vein it's said although they'll be 14, they'll look like they are 18/19 and thus 14 is the age for marriage. Which I feel is a clever workaround for the relatively low age of the characters. This also invalidates some of the lower star review cause this was their only gripe, which was clearly explained.

That being said the overall plot I feel is clearly secondary to the characters which is why I knocked off half a star. It flits between roughly 2 or 3 plotlines, being avoiding the aforementioned bad end of being killed in school and the looming threat of a primordial goddess and/or her children reviving. The story doesn't really do a good job of making the reader feel the stakes of the second one in particular despite recently focusing on it.

Last note: Huge shout out to the translator. It's probably one of the best I've ever seen. I didn't even notice I was reading a Chinese novel until chapter 150 or so. As long as this series is in they're hands I can see this novel continue to grow in popularity. <<less

I LOVE THIS NOVEL! Am currently an origin level 4 patreon for the extra chapters cause I'm ADDICTED and just can't wait or put this down... Many thanks to StarveCleric for translating this masterpiece to Engrish so that I and many others can understand, read and find out about this novel's existence.

The story's really good from a CN Western fantasy, galge and childhood to adolescent love/romance perspective. The girls/heroines are really charming and interesting to read about coupled with the romance and feelings of love the girls give to our... more>> protagonist - the sugar and spice they give me really test out the limits of my kyun kyun and snu snu levels. Huehuehue...

The "plot" of the three girls so far: Alicia (adopted sister), Nora (slightly sadistic and intense princess of the Theocracy) and Charlotte (the inner deredere princess of the Sorofya Merchant Confederacy) has been very satisfying to read about. Honestly, the ships have been sailing really strongly so far and it's hard to pick between the three as they're all so good. If I had to pick though... I guess Nora's more my type of girl? HAHA, Idk they're all great and she just kinda stands out and appeals to my inner self and desires (although the other two do as well... I WANT THEM ALL). If you add all this together with the interesting plot and lore of the novel it really ties it all together as a masterpiece. The style with the epoch setting, Western fantasy lore and time traveling is a little similar to The Lord of Mysteries which I quite enjoyed reading. I'm definitely adding this novel to my CN list with The Lord of Mysteries along with The Legendary Mechanic which I've been enjoying reading recently.

Very good, I was quite surprised. I love "reincarnated into a hated or horrible character and change them".

Pro

  • Despite being in a Chinese story, the MC isn't an insane psycho killer, all the opposite actually. He's humane, interesting, dense in love which I like, but not a wishy washy slow witted character, which I hate.
  • The harem is interesting, as the girls are also developed and aren't weak or collected pokemon style like in many Chinese stories.
  • The world lore is interesting overall and you wonder what will happen next.
Con

  • The beginning is bad, I didn't like the fact that the MC was "obviously" a below average otaku and not just a competent dude, as it makes his skills later a little unbelievable.
  • The romance is fast, and apart from his sister, I believe the author could have stretched it multiple months and years instead of going quick like that.
  • In fact, the overall story goes fast, instead of waiting for the MC to become a young adult, a lot happens to him as a kid, so I fear power and drama creep when he's an actual adult. The weird thing is that despite that, not a whole of plot advancements happened anyway.
  • Children being like 10 and having complex discussions. Again the problem with not waiting for them to mature to make it more believable.
  • The comedy part felt kinda flat, it's not horrible but it's not a masterpiece.
