The summary is accurate, although it is much more impactful in the story itself. The author carries through on the premise really well. The tension of the plot comes across just as much whether you know the ML will die soon or not. The climax for third death was unexpectedly done the best (imo) despite me expecting the dead ML to no longer hold any shock value. I WOULD have liked to see more development for the side characters and the world of Dayu overall after the main plotline was... more>> over. The ending was very open and gave the plot a slice of life feel, for better or for worse.

The story does have modern extras and there was an interesting aspect I noticed. It becomes particularly obvious that Dayu is the real world for the main characters. They all have no connection to modern times, not even the ML who was raised there. None of them consider sharing any of their knowledge with the modern world outside the book. Their concerns are all about what they can bring back for Dayu. ML barely wants to deal with even his closest family and even the modern conveniences of daily life cannot seduce the salted fish into nostalgia. It is the first time I have felt that the modern setting felt more unreal to the characters than the ancient setting, and I have to commend the author for that. <<less

Ah, I am too lazy to write a review for this haha.

Anyway. Let me just ramble a bit.

1. The romance is slow. Well, not really. They have too many sweets banters to call it slow. Even though they do not fall quickly, they fall hard. It's beautiful, sweet, and occasionally tragic (ML dies twice duh).

... more>> 2. They scheme, flirt, scheme and flirt. It's quite fun. They do bad things together (um... who cares, self-preservation is always on my top list anyways).

3. MC's character is unique. He seems humane to me... um, maybe not. He is petty, stubborn, and smart. He holds grudges. Damn, one of my favourite characteristics.

(You see, I don’t like forgiving people... tsk, but I'm too lazy to hold grudges.)

4. ML... finds MC's prettiness to be attractive. How... just too sweet. MC is too lucky without a doubt.

5. Side characters... there are many. But, this novel doesn't give any side character to appear often. It feels... a little blurry? How do I put it... ah, no one makes any mark on MC. MC isn't an emotional person so...

6. Even the villains aren't that dedicated. Isn't it normal though? Who has the time for that? Villains have their own life. <<less

MLs death is so heart breaking. In his first death, he died quietly infront of MC. On his second death, he doesnt want to die cause he knew MC will be sad. He made a promise to return. ML died with eyes open.

There is also a passerby couple (both male) makes me cry. Before war ML saw a guy kissed other guy in the forehead. When ML asked them, the guy said that since they are going to war there is high probability for them to die. Guy1 said that if they manage to survice he will propose to guy2. Two days after, ML no longer see guy1 but guy2 was in a corner silently crying while eating a steambun. Two days after ML no longer see guy2. I cried so much on that short scene.

I also feel sad for Xiao Jie and Xi Rong. Sigh... These two half brothers. If only Xi Rong obeyed the agreement he have with MC, MC will not make a move against them. Since XR betrayed them and cause the soldiers death and MLs, MC took revenge. XJ is a naive kid he really trust XR and will protect him at all cost. Sigh.. When XR was beheaded infront of XJ, XR last words was "dont look AJie", XJ went crazy. Im just glad that MC made a medicine to make him forget. Sigh...

I found this novel during its early translation release... tried to MTL but kinda hurt my brain so I waited until there are more chapters translated. Kudos to the translator for the hard work!

This novel is just so perfect... I love the dynamic between MC & ML. And ML is so hilarious!!!! I cannnttttt he is so salted fish a.k.a lazy bag bones who only want to sleep all day long yet he just had to transmigrate into important characters... sigh. And the idea of using ML (instead of MC)... more>> as the transmigrated character adds more fun!

MC's character development is just *chef kiss* nice. He is smart, beautiful, cunning, ruthless, but not dense. He is quick to realize his feelings (despite this novel being slow romance...). Behind his cold mask, there is curiosity and clinginess inside him. Him and ML is such a cute partner in crime: (

This story surprised me, really.. By the summary and the title, I tough it would more lighthearted, but it made me cry more than once, even when I knew tragedy was about to come, it was still heartbreaking.

I also really, really like that we have this poisonous couple as MCs LOL and their interactions are so good..

I laughed, cryed, cursed, so yeah... Great story!!!!

Oh god I can’t believe it took me so long to stumble on this masterpiece! I really regret not reading this novel sooner. I think it’s one of the few danmei novels that actually depict a realistic and healthy relationship development in a really good way. I just really love the MC!

He’s really a lazy scheming sloth who won’t stop at nothing to achieve his salted fish dream. The fact he’s willing to go through so much just so he can laze around in bed is so cute. But even so for the MC he’s willing to not be a so idled salted fish.

It’s really interesting to read it from the MC’s perspective. Usually in novels like these they usually focus on the transmigrator’s perspective. It gave a new freshening outlook on the genre which is really hard to do since generally they follow the same trope.

I really recommend this novel to anyone who’s looking for some twists to spice up their life. <<less

This novel deserves 4.8 stars. I can't think anything to complain except that I wish their third time/marriage were told longer. I just don't want this book to end, I don't want to part with them.

Maybe to some, it's a bit slow burn, but compared to real slow-burn, this book doesn't feel like it at all. Just remember that this is slice-of-life before palace/political intrigue, and real good supportive romantical relationship need time to build.

Then, to some, the main characters might be too scheming and villainous, but remember that it's... more>> always the other party who attacked/harmed them first, and being naive/ignorant doesn't exempt one from taking responsibility for themselves or for their subordinate. That's just how the culture in this setting works. It's cruel, but our MC and ML also wouldn't be exempted if they were the one who made the same mistake.

However I did think that they're a bit meanie to Sheng Huashi (original MC) at first, but Lin Qingyu would slowly warmed up to him because that's just how good and loyal Sheng Huashi is.

However if you are someone who can only like white lotus, naive, innocent shou, and a couple who can only whisper sweet-nothing and be flirty 24+ hours, then this is obviously not for you (and that the type of story I don't like much, no surprise).

Ah, lastly, some stuff here can be called face-slapping, but most revenge were done by scheming in the background. Nevertheless they are all very satisfying.

P.S.: At this point let's agree that everyone will cry especially at one particular scene. You will know it when you read it. I don't remember ever cry like this for a danmei book, and probably because it is really well written with really good build-up. Anyway it's just so good! <<less

Recommend to read ! Romance is a slow burn from one sided hate to mutual friendship and finally mutual love.

Plot 4/5

While the plot is not unique the author still was able to deliver it to be interesting to read. There wasnt much of surprise or plot twist but it also wasnt boring to read. Romance 5/5

In term of romance its very satisfying slow burn and everything flow so smoothly - nothing too force and we can understand why they fell in love with each other and see how their feeling grow from timid love to constantly shoving dog food to reader. The pinnacle of healthy couple they didnt hide anything from each other and can accept each other whole-heartedly.

Character 4/5

In term of character I honestly couldn't love gong more. I really adore the gong, he is very respectful, witty, smart and funny. The gong is the definition of unconditional love he is a lazy person but would do anything to make his wife happy (but still whining the process just so he can get pampered). Ngl might be very biased opinion since I always have soft spot for younger gong. The shou is also very adorable. I love how the author didnt just simply write shou as a character that love to kill and see his enemy suffers but actually put time in giving the shou a character growth 👏

The side character is also very well written they have dimensions and personalities. There almost no such thing as a always good side character and always bad side character. Every of the side characters have their own good and bad side which makes them seems more interesting to read and not just 2d character written to get the plot going

You usually get a story with either pov of a shou transmigrated into a cannon fodder body or pov seme/gong transmitted into a world to change a cannon fodder shou. But this story is the first one I read with pov of cannon fodder shou (not ransmigrated) who met a transmigrated gong. It is so unique & interesting!

And I love the salted fish ML so much in this story! He is a lazy but scheming genius, who only think of resting, sleeping & playing but can get down to serious... more>> bussiness just for MC.

And then, from the title of the story, it means that the ML get reborn/transmigrated 3 times- but before that, they need to be separated first. And the chapters of their parting moments are so sad that I cried! I love to read how MC slowly grow attached to the ML. <<less

The summary for this story gives you the basic rundown of the entire plot. It's all right there. The overarching story is laid out for everyone to see. Despite this, despite being warned by the summary and the story multiple times, at the end of the ML's first life I cried. My heart straight up BROKE for EVERYONE. That's the power of this story.

AAAAAAAAAA IT WAS SO GOOD, I LIKE THIS STORY SO MUCH 😩💕

I'm not good at writing a review so i'll just write whatever that comes on my mind ✌🏻

It. Was. So. Good. I already said this but I just want to say it one more time cuz this masterpiece really is good. I'm not going to say that this story is perfect, after all nothing is perfect in this world, but this story is really good and now it becomes one of my fav danmeis that i've read.

I really like... more>> Lin Qingyu and the ML's relationships. They are so cute and I can't handle it 😭😭😭. Especially the ML, I really like his personality. He's not the kind of OP ML who's just strong, overbearing and possessive like in usual danmeis. But he's intelligent, calm and considerate. But it doesn't mean that he's overpowered. I can't explain how much I love this story! It's in second place of my favorites, tied with QJJ! Perhaps I put it a little higher than QJJ simply because it was easier to follow. I got lost a lot with QJJ. I need to reread it and make notes to finalize my thoughts on it. ANYWAY

The slow burn, but the intense growth of love was perfect. I love that the MC is the person who hasn't transmigrated. I love how Lin Qingyu has always been conniving and evil in his own way, but we love him for it. Yeah yeah

he did Shen Huaisheng bad, but I can't blame him per say because that's just his personality. The prince was evil and Shen Huaisheng didn't deserve to be treated like garbage by the prince. The prince literally would use force in bed with him, and never treated him with respect and dignity.

I give it 5 stars because I really enjoy this one. It was interesting, from the plot to the characters, everything was just so interesting for me. I know some find the MC not so much likable, but I found him fine just as he is. I usually like morally grey characters after all. AND they never say they are "good" people, they are just scheming evil weirdos forced into a marriage (the other one was even forced to transmigrate to another world so yeah).

But if I am being absolutely... more>> honest, the ML's first and second life was the best part of this novel, especially the part where the ML died in his 2nd life ㅠㅠ. The last part was good, but it's not as engaging to me as the 1st and 2nd life. The extras are quite good, but still I like the main story more.

Overall a totally worthwhile novel to give a try. <<less

this book was really good. It took me months to get into it and I partly blame the blurb because it doesn't explain anything. The book was so entertaining and it was a breath of fresh air from all the r*pe and weird love dynamics common in historical danmei. Their love was so pure and true.. When the[general died I cried so much and imperial physician Lin's reaction made me cry even more.]. I love these 2 so much.

I personally really enjoyed this novel.

This story mostly focuses on the main couples relationship and political scheming. It doesn't have many action scenes and can feel a bit mundane because of it, but I didn't find it to be too boring.

The pacing of the story is good. It doesn't focus too much on unnecessary details and has many time skips to help the story progress for multiple years.

A lot of other people have said that the MC (Lin Qingyu) is cruel and doesn't deserve the ML, but I do not agree with this. While the MC really does know how to hold grudges and can be cruel at times I don't find him to be too unreasonable. He only hurts the people who have wronged him or his loves ones. Also, you can clearly tell that the MC loves the ML and treats him with softness, even if it comes of as cold sometimes. Which is why I don't see why the MC wouldn't deserve the ML. <<less

Wahahaha nice nice nice such a good novel why I so reluctant to read it for a long time? But no kidding.. I usually not read this kind of multiple pov, but I like this one.. Sometimes I feel it had seme protagonist (but ofc it's not) and if u say it was uke protagonist, im not sure either, bcs both of them are equal, we really became third person here and focus on two leads at the same time, for me this story had patern, it's ok-sad-and I don't... more>> know I should cry, pissed or laugh bcs it's funny, especially when they married for the third time! But I like how author make them falm in love, they definitely not gay and it was bcs each other they turn bent as a circle, although the aspects of op-ness on our ML is somewhat not logic (in our real life) at lesst when author make it as a setting is not greasy <<less
