At eighteen years old, Lin Qingyu was married as part of a Chong Xi into the Nan’an Hou Mansion, becoming the ill Lu Wancheng’s male wife.

On the eve of their wedding, Young Master Hou lay lazily on the bed and said, “Beauty, to be honest, I really don’t want to engage in domestic struggles. I just want to drift along, eat and wait to die. I want to be a Salted Fish.”

A year later, Young Master Hou became gravely ill. He took Lin Qingyu’s hand and sighed, “Wife, I’m going to die, but I think I can continue to transmigrate. In order for you to properly recognize me in the future, let us set a secret code.”

After the death of Young Master Hou, Lin Qingyu was prepared to stay a widow all his life.
Lin Qingyu would rather die than remarry.

Unexpectedly, after only 1/2 a year, …xoxo… actually came to propose marriage & said “If odd, change; if even, remain the same?”
LQ: “…I will marry you.”

After two years …

Lin Qingyu knew that although his husband was a bag of lazybones, no one was his equal

I am glad I give this a chance. For a person who reads novels all day, this was really different. Their relationship, other characters who are well written and the emotional scenes that made me cry and laugh, so worth to read it.

The author has struck a good balance between fluff and genuine challenges. The relationship between characters feels earned. They are madly in love as well as each other's dearest friends. The story is structured neatly and nothing feels superfluous or dragged on. That said, I haven't read the extras and I probably won't since they seem primarily focused on the main pairing and I'm only really curious about the side pairings and other supporting characters now. Would definitely read a short spin-off about ... more>>

Jingchun and the Northern Border King or even Shen Huaishi/Hauizhi (TL spelled it both ways) and Xiao Cheng (after Xiao Jie takes the throne).

.

Additionally, I liked the jabs directed at the prominent rationalization of abusive relationships in BL with the main character openly mocking the toxicity of the relationship between the leads of the original story. The story itself has cute little meta moments.

While it rationalizes the bad behavior of the ML and MC, both develop into overall better human beings despite their bad influences on each other - Which was a bit of a wild turn.

Anyway, good story. <<less

I really liked the characters and interesting dynamics between them. The story is very good and I wouldn't say the plot itself is too heavy, but rather the author's descriptions which make you emotional. I don't like romance stories with the emperor because they usually involve competitive family members, strained relationships, struggle with harem, and a lot of politics. But this story didn't start off with ML as the emperor so I gave it a try.

I like how the author paced the plot so that we can see how... more>> the relationship is developed, without feeling too rushed or too boring. It was a good balance of fluff, angst, and plot.

I did get a bit bored at a few times but the plot picked up and it became interesting again. But I do wish the author wrote about Xiao Cheng. Like it is hinted that he is still alive, but we don't know what finally happened. Also I wanted to know about the secret behind Xu Junyuan. Like why he helped the ML, and did he actually know the original plot. The extras were very cute though and it's nice to see Shen Huaishi more active and considering MC as a friend. <<less
