Very compelling story! It's 180+ chapters long, but I still want to read more. The plot doesn't focus on the main characters' love story. Instead, it also involves the careers of the other people that Shen Huai manages. I was surprised by how well-written and cohesive the different plots were. Each character felt unique and I felt attached to all of them.

... more>>I wish they fleshed out SYM and the possed DWY more. Basically, DWY tried to assault SYM and dies in the process. Then, his body gets taken over by the soul of a kind, talented actor. It feels a little abrupt that SYM felt comfortable with DWY so fast. I know they spent a year together in the same film crew, but since only the start and end of filming was shown, it feels like SYM was scared of DWY one minute then looks up to him as a mentor the next minute. Ok here me out!!! I've been looking for this novel for ages 🤣 the first time I read this novel I still don't have N.U account, I've read lots of beautiful novel and yet don't have an idea how and where to save them BUT NOW. Bah! Wait till you see it on my list later! 🤣 I love this novel, I'm crazy about BL novel with a mix of supernatural in it and this novel started it all.

So consider this Jiejie revisiting a old friend after not seeing them... more>> for a long time. 💗💗💗 I remember the last time I read this novel years ago, I was having difficulties with the story that I've been trying to finish, and after reading this novel, it made me inspire not just to finish it but also to write other stories as well. I enjoyed this story.

I liked that even when we were introduced to new ghosts, we still saw the progress of the previous ghosts. I like that all the ghosts were good people; they avenged & fulfilled the wishes of their dead hosts.

However, a lot of things also made me sad. A lot of these great artists inexplicably died. I felt really sorry for the MC who witnessed death time & time again. I felt it was a really cruel & burdensome fate for him.

At some points in the story, there would be way too much happening because the MC was also supporting so many ghosts. I kinda wish the story stopped at 2/3 ghosts.

Tbh I strongly dislike this form of writing that includes a lot of Internet slang & netizen barrages. Even if you skip over them, you can still follow the story, so I consider that to be the greatest weakness of the story. Still an ok read. <<less

I enjoyed this novel a lot. It is not the typical supernatural plot of reincarnation due to revenge or wrongful death.

All the characters including the different side characters all play a part in enriching the story plot. The way the characters fight and banter with each other is interesting.

I enjoyed that this story did not have the two male leads jumping over each other all the time. I feel like that is a bit too unrealistic and makes it more like they are having a s*xual relationship rather than a... more>> meaningful relationship.

The pace of the story is good. It is not draggy and fill with lots of fillers in order to reach word count. <<less

The title is misleading.

This should be Artists-- as in plural.

When I read this, I thought this would be the common reborn character (main character) climbing their way up to the heaven. But then come the side characters one by one, and honestly it's satisfying. The story doesn't focus only on the main CP, but the side stories and side characters are written well and I love following their arc.

It may seems like they are too OP; what's with Movie Queen and Rock King and so on--and the conflict isn't very... more>> satisfying in some parts. Also, since they're old ghost that has roamed the world for a long time, their ability to adapt to modern world is so easy.

Overall, it's an easy and light story to read. <<less

I think that I like in showbiz type of novel is g*ooming to become a top rated artist.

It's the same as this one but I think MC didn't do much at all since almost all of his artist is reborn top rated artist.

I'm not disappointed at all. It's quite a leisure read. Though I found that the romance is lacking and a little unexpected, it's really a worthwhile to read.

Please be aware, this 5 star rate is for the book itself. Translation at best chapters 3.5, at worst chapters 1.5.

Its been awhile since I had read a book that delivered comedy while at the same time respecting their characters and readers' brains. The book had phase where it developed the MC, ML and every single characters development (bad/good/neutral spectrum) accordingly.

What do I mean when author respected their characters enough? In here, the struggle is equally as hard; male & female, newcomer & legends, living & dead. No one can... more>> say they had it harder or the other side had it harder. Author shows at any point, anyone and everyone can be pushed to the edge of the cliff, it is oneself that choose whether to jump off or pushed back.

This is shown clearly with Song Yimian and Shen Huai as a living beings. Shen Huai had been one that nearly jumped off the cliff and Song Yimian is the one shown that even if he jumped off the cliff, he will try to make the best in the cliff. I was awed when the battered him, with psychological trauma, freshly threatened by Hua Rong still accepted his mother's call; and bravely told her his future works and planned to start again somewhere. Knowing fully, so long as Hua Rong is in industry she can hinder him easily.

And author tackled sensitive issues so profoundly, yet close to heart.

The part about independence is sexy? Don't you just felt awed by how author managed to throw the issues free of the stereotypical that it is man that made skimpy is sexy? The author made it clear, manipulation of profits can be done by anyone, isn't restricted by gender. Feminism? Manliness? All that is in your head and used by others to make gains. The one truly important is yourself and how you face it. You want to say suit for work sexy? Go for it. Skimpy is sexy? Go for it. Why Sister Xia's group won isn't necessarily about outfits, they are able to touch and resonate with their audiences. The hot topic raised after the performance is due to the heart that is successfully touched.

Another one is that this is BL yes. But author made it interesting by having heteros*xual couples (Chen Chiyu and Yan Xiangming + wives) and not everything happened concentrated on MC and ML. It made them really feel as part of a big real world. There is sister Chu Mei Bo and her harem lol, Pei Ran and Tang Wanjun (with the side of Guo Wenyuan's fan heart). And they balanced the male leads quite great I must say.

Usual BL had female portrayed as bad villains or antagonistics, making you feel author borderline rude & anti-female. But here, the bad one (Hua Rong) isn't bad because of her gender, but due to greed. An Xuqi had character developments while staying true to character design. Big Sister Chu Mei Bo is like the best female character in BL I encountered in a long while and my favourite; big respect.

The problem about the industry also fleshed out great. What some might have issue is the supernatural part, but well, the summary said MC dealed with ghosts. What do you expect? Lol.

I don't have problem with it. My culture also had believe like Yin Yang Eyes, but we called it Unvieled Eyes. Though it isn't as powerful as Yin Yang Eyes. I liked that due to this, MC and groups made friends with Fenghua Temple. It is risky and dangerous to possess a gift (the eyes, talents, wealth), but it is up to yourself how to handle the gift given. Either you find goodness in it and be grateful; or you find evil in it and be regretful (Fu Cheng, Bai JiaJia)

And there is romance. But realistic romance that is, not like you make love everyday and stay close to each other daily. They loved each other dearly, it comes across. But they also a functional member of society, so responsibilities also as important. There is a bit fluff here and there, single dog ab*se but no detailed below the neck activities.

I felt like I can go on but all in all, I recommend to read it. Promise it enjoyable. Though the translation can be a bit annoying. Not in a way of MTL did, but works without editor and proofreader did.

Translation: Neon Army = Japan Army. Apparently neon character sounded close to Nihon (Japan) phonetically. But translator failed to make note about it. So really, the problem with translation is sometimes they translated too literal of the words. The few beginning is hard to read. It get better though but still retains that feels like you missed many things. AWSL also used many time with no notes. It is Ah, I'm dead or Ah wo si le, which I learn from other story. It really tested your familiarity with chinese literature.

This was an satisfying and entertaining story. Though not heavy on romance, but the romance that was there was very cute and beautiful. Made me warm nd fluffly.

The summary of this story made it sound as if MC was at a very low point, but that wasn't the case imo. It was more a setback.

This story follows the formula of becoming a super succesful, in this case, agent and later on producer, without many hurdles and setbacks. Just very smooth sailing. Though the concept is one we often see in... more>> Chinese BL the story is well executed. It is addicting and it brings the usual excitement and satisfaction that these type of novels bring. Also, it is set in showbizz universe with the usual sensation of netizens. ML was just one of the side characters here, with some more screen time than the other ghost big shots that MC accidentally picked up. Loved each of the side characters here, especially ML of course. He is super talented, dedicated, hard working. His boyish and carefree character complemented the reserved MC very well.

This story has some face slapping and the face slapping is not too exaggerated or vicious. Im very happy that not everyone that was against MC and his people also got a terrible ending. The 'villains' not always got caught, but realized themselves that they want to turn for the better, but that was in a very subtle way. Which is good thing here. It shows this author has a natural forgiveness and kindness that is reflected, unlike some other authors. <<less

As others have said if you are looking for a novel focused purely/heavily in romance or plot this one probably is not for you (but give it a chance)

The main couple is wholesome but the side characters stole the show for me. I mean, the couple was lovely because they are already great individuals and we don't see the cringey nor even r*apey/disgusting behavior that we saw in soo many BL novels.

This is one rare novel about entertainment circle. The MC is not the one who reborn, but an agent. The ML and the reborn characters didn’t have grudge, but they strive to keep living and pursue their passion (singing, acting, directing).

The evil chars were very human, the problem and drama also subtle. The plot is great, the comedy and romance is few but very good.

I though my fave chars is MC and ML, until the mighty sister chu mei bo appeared. Oh God, I love her so much. She’s witty... more>> and funny. She was an actress with heroic and sad background story before reborn. I was crying on the scene depict her death on her last life.

Overall, this is a very good novel. Highly recommended! *The only minus point is no smut at all, lol. <<less

One of the best in my opinion.

The story doesn’t focus only on ML and MC but rather various character that ML as an agent bringing them to life again so I can see why some people might lose interest.

The theme is to revive Chinese entertainment from a place that businessmen control to make a lot of money to where the talented artist can make a living.

They might look a bit too easy but considering they are all legend of their generation, I can see why.

This is the type of novel that would appeal to older readers, so I'm not surprised that some reviewers said that this novel is boring. Also, I love stories like Natsume's Book of Friends so this type of slice of life is a natural five stars for me. This novel is amazing and eye-opening, so I think that you'd miss out on a pure gem if you care more about the romance part of this story.

For once, you're seeing the world of showbiz through the eyes of an agent, who has been disappointed over and over again by his artist. But his career and life changed when he met the ML, even though it's quite a whiplash that you didn't get any warning about his sudden ability to see ghosts.

About the minus part of this story, it's true that author have a problem in pacing and directing the plot's course. Here, I can only ask you to just enjoy this unusual showbiz journey, it's totally worth it. <<less

This is a fun BL story. It's an interesting premise, and the characters are a strength. 5 stars is probably a bit generous, but I did enjoy it and read to the end, so it feels and acceptable rating.

I will say it's not super suspenseful. Everything is very smooth sailing, conflicts are quickly crushed by the MC's OPness (and the general OPness of the MC's whole team). This means the villains are pretty weak. They do have a bit of variety, so it's not completely boring, but don't read this... more>> looking for complicated plots. It's mostly humor and face-slapping and internet trolling.

Bonus points for:

    • Being complete
    • Multiple strong female characters
    • Significant focus on the character development of side characters
    • Humor (the ML's side Weibo account "@YourFather" is particularly funny in the social media parts of the story)
    • The MC is the CEO Hidden Big BOSS instead of the ML. If you care about top vs bottom:

If you're looking for a novel with deep meaning or a brainwrecker, don't bother with this one. This novel is just a piece of a pink self-righteous fluff.

Sometimes I love good ol' straightforward faceslapping and no heavy stuff.

I was feeling like reading a bubble drama without cringy MTL for a bit. Based on reviews, I planned to just read the main couple part and skip everything else but it turned out quite ok. So I ended up reading it all.

Good translation. No MTL. Thanks to translator 😉

There was a review that said you would enjoy this novel if you think that it's a story with BL moments, and I believe that it was pretty appropriate. The novels name, as well as the description warned me that it wouldnt focus mainly on the ML and the MC so I'm not too mad, but I'm still low key disappointed that their relationships feels like an after thought in later chapters. It mentioned they talk to each other... but it's only mentioned and not shown. It didnt really convinced... more>> me that they were together really, but it was nice from the moments it was showed! The different artists that MC had really was a highlight, but I didnt care much for them but this was a nice read. <<less

I'll make it short: If you read this as a normal novel with BL elements, you'll like and appreciate it more. It's a matter of perspective. If you care too much about stuff like progress of the couple etc. You'll definitely will end up dissatisfied.

I honestly find this novel to be like that and I find stories about side-characters and history behind them as different periods of time and representing different part of entertainment world. They're all different type of people, but they also care for their art. There's a... more>> lot of things to appreciate, though simple plot, but an interesting idea twist on several "rebirths", good dialogues, interesting relationships, supporting character (I mean Chu Mei Bo, come on), positive messages etc.

My one star reduction so far was only was for stiffness in descriptions and sometimes glazing over stuff too quickly. <<less

I like the novel and it solicited some laughter from me but the romance part, I don’t like it. It is somewhat forced to the point that its making you cringe. I don’t feel any chemistry with them at all maybe on the later part of the novel but it is still in the infancy of the novel but promoting romance not conforming with flow of the characters is not good at all. Its better for this to not have romance at all or have it in the later part... more>> of the novel. Developing romance between chapter 18-24 somewhere there, when the story is still in its infancy puts the good mood that I have when reading it to freezing zero. Overall the novel is not bad. A really light hearted and humorous take on Showbiz... MC (who's pretty OP himself) signed a reborn artist (ML), who was an OP singer in his previous life, there's not much sense of suspense/urgency as readers know the reborn guy is gonna make it again. The romance is sweet and slow. They both take into account their circumstances and forge ahead... Though the author could have treated the love story a bit better.

MC may be a cool beauty but is a real sweet-heart to all the people around him,... more>> he may not show it, but he's fiercely protective and thoughtful to those he considers his people...

And lastly, surprise surprise! MC is collecting other dead and famous artists, that he says he 'discovered' in hell!! XD While their little stories that combine into the main one add substance to the story (though don't like the last person added...), the story-line has shifted; and author seems to have forgotten the romance and more focused on how to 'revitalize' the sluggish Chinese Entertainment industry... making for a bit boring read, stopped reading mtl at c167, and docking a star for the latter part of the story...
