This story is about Hirasawa Kazuki a university student who suddenly find himself in the body of the Villain, Harold Stokes, a noble boy in the RPG story based game that he used to play

The plot on how he try avoid his death fate by altering his action without changing the normal story flow is really interesting

And whats more interesting is that every action or conversation that he made are seen as Cruel & Evil by others even if he's doing it out of goodwill

Due to Him being unable to... more>> tell the truth to others, He begin to relentlessly work by himself to change his fate.. Which later result him being the strongest even at a young age & help the hero's team from the shadows..

And I found that the Romance between Harold & Erica to be really sweet eventhough both of them haven't reveal their feelings yet but the love that push her to workhard to support the overpowered loner Harold result her to be overpowered too & just 2nd to Harold (she is even stronger than the Hero of the story)

The story is quite fast paced,

Based on the plot right now it almost reach the final arc in another 1 or 2 volumes more.

Really reccomend u guys to try it as it really is one of the most interesting novel i've read.. <<less

Interesting premise, bad follow through.

Somewhere along the line this just became a tr*shy tsundere romance novel, borne of misunderstandings and angst.

This novel is for masochists. I fcking wanted to throw my phone through a wall while reading this. MC has hero syndrome as well as an inferiority complex. Pair that with the auto tsundere translator and this is just pure torture to read. Somewhere along the line, FL just became a 2d Saint template and author must've noticed because he started adding harem features.

I Honestly hate the MC and none... more>> of the character relationships really draw me in either.

2/5 for character dev

Plot is pretty good, but There's so much deliberating to progress it that I Don't even remember the plot.

4/5 plot.

World building Feels extremely limited by MC's unwillingness to accept that he's in a new world and not just limited to the small confined space of a game.

3/5 World building

Translation quality is mediocre, bastard and idiot is used a lot but I'm guessing thats cuz original is full of "baka!" and sht.

3/5 <<less

One can say that you can become addicted to this story and I become the one. If you like RPG Isekai then it will be difficult to brake away from "My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending". Reader will find pretty well described environment, well provided dialogs, overpowered main character and romance. But if you are not fan of this kind of stories then you may find it hard to finish. As few previous reviewers I broke reading of it after 50 part and just overlooked what will happen... more>> next. Different is that I think that I may come back to reading it again as I like this genre.

As I said I couldn't leave this story for very long time. But with this time there grows an irritation in a reader. It is caused by false narration of a story. Maybe my impression is caused by wrong translation but it looks more or less like below.

At the beginning it is narrated by third person by Kazuki's eyes. If this continues then one would not care much about other characters and we could focus on main character achievements which would be greater skills, powers caused by his inventions and knowledge about the game world future.

But with time author decided to switch and make this story kind of romance drama. So we started to know feelings and independent actions of other characters. Then another switch and we have got mixed narration. Other characters are described by first person narrator mixed with third person narrator. So we know Erica, Yuno, Sumeragi etc. Feelings and we become addicted to them. It is a total mess. Then a story becomes typical RPG. Except romance drama fantasy we receive unbearable two parallel stories which disturb each other.

Narration wouldn't be unbearable but there are other flows in "My Death Flag.." Most irritating is Erica/Harold realationship. It is artificially and irrationally complicated and delayed.. Maybe reader have to wait longer for them to get close but I lost my patience.

What is worse that narration of this relationship is broken many times in important moments after which we are moved in time. It is simply impossible that two loving each other people would not solve their relationship problems and still love each other for so many years. It looks very s*upid that Erica is going to understand more then anyone else and support Harold by avoiding him. And it is irritating that Erica vanishes from a story for a lots of chapters. Narration is broken in most important moments or just miss that moments. It is like braking very interesting movie 5 minutes before end. A drama would not be bad if we would have a proper explanation of it. The most heroic act of Harold ends with people despising him. Why???? Just because!! Author tries to explain it somehow but for me he fails.

Harold and Erica are to suffer just because author says so. Harold is one of them most dense guys in history. He does not notice a women and even his friends love for him. Why he s*upidly support main antagonist when with his knowledge and possibilities he could defeat him early and simple save the world? Why there is no explanation how he was saved by his friends. Etc etc.

You may like this story but for now I am tired of it. <<less

Annoying

Firstly nothing happens in 40 chapters-

-Dude "makes" potion crops, which technically aren't his idea anyway and attends a tournament in which he faces no challenge, in fact he technically fights just a single person. 40 chapters in a nutshell.

... more>> Perhaps more things would happen if the author stopped talking about things that are "yet to come".

To those who Said "the plot dips after 2nd act" I ASK WHAT PLOT! NOTHING HAPPENS!

The concept doesn't make sense. Sometimes MC follows the original story sometimes he doesn't, but it doesn't matter, because it's not very well explained how much of it is important. For all I know he could just go to the end of the world and spend his days there and let the events play themselves out. Yet he switches things up over and over again for a reason unknown to me. Ultimately I have no idea what the motivation for his actions are.

first 20-25 are chapters written in 3rd person, then out of freaking nowhere the author switches to first person pov even going so far as to switching his pov to Fodder Enemy A. It's confusing and annoying as..........

MC get's involved where he shouldn't... cuz he's a gud boi... and he doesn't get involved where he should.

There's more but in Harlods word's: The novel is a waste of my time and a pathetic disappointment. <<less

A rare type of isekai which the plot is quite likeable. MC is reborn to hated character, had foul mouth and looking edgy somehow (lol). Typical guys who looking like a bad guys but actually a good guys, just the world setting to MC just too strong to against. There's a lot thing that make this novel isnt pretty good such like wtf slow romance, MC keep trying inconvencience things not alike a smart MC, a lot plothole etc.

However the feeling somehow felt real, altho I know its somehow misunderstand,... more>> some of character inside felt alive and give some feels to reader. Maybe you guys feel annoying, or even sheeding tears.

Im sure 4/5 is enough for rare type isekai but 5/5 just because theres not a lot novel can move ur feeling, especially isekai type. <<less

I have read all the chapters released yet. I like the story. But sometimes it feels too childish. When they talk about the height of someone or when a character gives some excuses regarding Harold. It's just too much. But since it's a shounen novel it's acceptable.

But I'd like the author to pick up speed. When you're used to Chinese authors who release 2 chapters per day you feel like the author is a sloth. XD

I'd really give this a 3.5

It starts out well, however, slowly becomes less exciting. It lacks a finesse to keep you guessing and addicted. Regardless, I'm still reading and enjoying this novel though.

Worth a read if you have too much time on your hands.

This novel is honestly out of my expectations. The plot is one of the best I have ever read. It was so complex and exciting that I can read it for that sole purpose. The MC is just struggling to survive but, maybe because of his idiocy, he sets everything in motion, not according to the game. His actions and decisions are shown to neither be good ones or bad ones because they have such diverse effects that leads to multiple results. Whether that will be his or another person's... more>> demise and suffering. Even so he makes them, granted that he does hesitate but he thinks over his choices carefully. Then again, he is only a normal human so it almost never completely goes his way. Because of all the things he changed piling up on top of each other, it makes more problems and keeps the wheel spinning and the dominoes knocking. It is a beautiful example of the butterfly effect.

The characters, although interesting, is not that in-depth except for the MC and Erica. There is not much to know about supporting character like Itsuki and the Stokes parents because their background is irrelevant to the game plot. Some character also probably wont appear again like Norman, Jake, and Zen.

He is also excessively op. Really op. But in front of the last boss, he is helpless which puts me in a puzzle.

The mc's feelings and personality are never really explained with his own pov but more of the other characters surprisingly. It's given through their thoughts and impressions of their interactions with him.

Overall it's very interesting and will keep u hooked. It's a really well developed piece that can be better improved. <<less

Don't understand what people are talking about when they say this doesn't have cliches and the story is well written. The MC is pretty much walking misunderstanding machine, and he have all the cliches of bad boy (bad outside but good inside). The characters are hella a lot shallow and have depth
Spoiler

I wish I could go back to the past me and shoot myself for not reading this novel sooner. Then again, I wish I could go back to the me from earlier and shoot myself or reading it so soon and running out k chapters. Basically, it's as good as everyone says. Great writing, great translating, great plot with a mix of not over the top action and comedic scenes to balance everything out. Add to that, though misunderstood MCs tend to annoy me when it's overdone, I think this... more>> is certainly within reason as the MC undertakes every action in order to perpetuate the misunderstanding for the greater good (him still being alive at the end of the story).

Even better, the MC is likeable without being an OP wimp good guy hypocrite caught between trying to proselytize Japanese laws in a world where they're unfitting and disregarding Japanese laws because... harem. All in all, I'm looking forward to continuing this series.

As for the series being long winded- it's a Japanese novel. I've yet to come across any that weren't long winded and provided enough detail for me to understand the story. I'm guessing since it's a language that so relies on subtleties, it's difficult to describe details directly or something? <<less

SPOILERS!

I've got only read two otome game books so far, all the others haven't interested me whatsoever because their descriptions scream cliche. Anyways... here's an interesting one... "My Death Flags Show No Sign of Ending."

I have pointed it out in my first ever review... the novel didn't cover how the main protagonist ended up in the body of another being inside a God damn game. Any explanation would've been some effort...

... more>> Then again, that's the nagging out of the way... let's get into the... novel.

I admit, that I thought at first: "Hey, if you're trapped in here and as far as youre concerned you only have death coming your way, completely avoid it." I still think that, the protagonist actively threw himself in the face of death as he knows the future.

Then as I went to read on... I found quite a few interesting things. It seems that the player character, or the protagonist's rival is clearly responsible for solving many of the problems in the future, and why Harold didn't take it on himself is far beyond me.

That is an annoying thing, the characters I've seen so far... just... don't argue. What I mean is that all the characters in the games willingly take on the role of that character and their said future. Why? Okay, I've only read two of these, so it's biased as far as I'm concerned, but they take on their roles as if it is their calling or something.

Well, I suppose that is what I think for the other otome game book, but this is somewhat different. I realised as I went deeper into it, the character of Harold is important to shaping the future, the author made it clear, if they don't then there's a worse future for them. So, they had to take it on and actively avoid death.

Well, the book opened doors quite late for me, because... I have gotten bored of it. I admit, the depth the characters had was astounding! All of them, even the butler (I believe) and his fiancée, whose names I wasn't bothered to know.

I suppose it was the butler who had a moral code which made him expose the protagonist's plan to the heroine, the fiancée had a strong moral code as well and was depressed after hearing what the protagonist did. For that, I applaud you author. But, the fiancée still annoys me, after all she is someone who is blatantly submissive and I would think she would be an emo if she was real. But, that's just my opinion, I'm sure someone likes submissive heroines...

Why I also enjoyed was the fact that because of his knowledge he had an advantage... yet even so he knew his decisions were quite dangerous due to that knowledge. The protagonist isn't a naïve pushover, he trains, he learns, he doesn't underestimate people, he acts so that he can survive.

I would marry him if the fiancée was willing to give him up.

I suppose that this is an otome game book I like, even if I read it a while ago and don't really care for any of the other things.

So... I shall summarise...

-Protagonist is a badass as far as I'm concerned, he thinks and makes decisions to his advantage, he is one I like.

-There's a few tropes in here, some of which I'm not fond of, I admit those annoyed me and I was ready to put the book down, and they are the sole reason I got bored.

-The plot isn't linear, it's not: "Get the girl" or "Kill the evil guy". It's more along the lines of "Hey, I know that I am important to shaping a future which sounds good, and I should do that for my benefit, but I also have to survive, wow this will be difficult."

Well, it became boring after a while and it threw me off.

So, I am bored of it. <<less

This is an exceptional novel. It has one of the most interesting MCs out of all the novels I've read so far and it's come a long way from the beginning where I thought the MC would easily find a way to overcome his Speech Impediment.

It's a decent enough novel. It's not great or excellent, but it's decent. It's a pretty old novel, so I believe back when it was first released the concept of protagonists not willing to mess with the cannon event was not overused like it is nowadays. Also, you'd imagine that a person who's fated to die according to cannon would rather mess with events so that things will favor him and not lead to his death? But eh, whatever. But that's not really my main gripe about this novel, no,... more>> my problem is with something else. And that's with the side characters. They seem to just worship Harold and he seems to be the center point of most of their life/goal. If he wasn't there their lives would become static, i.e. They do not feel alive.

Also, it's a personal gripe, but I found the shift in perspective/pov, extremely jarring. Shifting from 3rd person perspective to 1st felt extremely disorienting to me. Perhaps it has something to with the translation, or maybe it's a personal problem of mine as I don't see anyone else complain about it, but it ruined my enjoyment of this novel by a lot.

But I think if you're a fan of JP novels you should check it out. Despite its flaws it's not bad compared to other jp novels, but be warned though, because Harold will certainly develop a harem, with every single female character being interested in him for some reason. <<less

Well I've been reading this series from 2019, and I've been enjoyed most of its story so far.

The story at first started like any other genic isekai where you possessed the antagonist of the story. In other isekai, you can act as a good guy in a villain's body with no drawback. But in deathflag, Harold's foul mouth was almost a disability to him, and he thought that he was being hated for that seemed logical, not like acting like a goody two shoes and just "Oh I'm being hated... more>> because I'm in a villain body".

Well the story started off interesting, the knight arc was the peak of the story, and then it just went downhill afterward. Like if you was captured by the last boss, and the last boss tried to alienate you to control you easier, or you started a mercenary group or did anything, please don't just time skip and wrote about 2-3 lines about that. And I'm starting to dislike Erica a bit, like she just made a mumbo jumbo speech about "Just do it" to Harold. But after the timeskip, she went back to "boo hoo I'm not fit to Harold so I'm not going to do anything". Like they only went backward in that 5 years.

Well the story is starting to get the genetic isekai's vibe, losing its uniqueness, but still better than most of modern isekai now. I'm still sticking with it since I want to know the ending, but I don't enjoyed it like how I did in 2019. And the slow pacing of releasing chapters just makes it worse. <<less

It's pretty bad. I started reading this after the manga, which was somewhat entertaining, but the novel is just bad. Too much fluff, and little actual content, after ch ~50 I found myself just skipping entire paragraphs because they didn't add anything or were too cringeworthy.

Character interactions and relationships aren't even remotely believable, even xianxias / xuanhuans have better developments in that regard.

It's absolutely nonsensical that he still worries about his own deathflags according to the plot and yada yada after having messed up the storyline and all the character... more>> relationships since chapter 1.

In conclusion, it's decent for a japanese novel, but it's too bad for me to ever touch again unless I am bored to the point where I want to suffer to feel alive. <<less

MC reincarnated into a game as a very tr*shy and strong villain with a lot of death flags, unlike others, he tries to only marginally changed the story in his favor so that his future knowledge will still be useful, even when his reputation went down the mud, got himself into the Villain Boss's clutches, and could only do things by himself in the dark to lessen casualties while making sure those main characters became strong enough and ready to establish a hero party to follow the game scenario.

The funny... more>> thing is his expressing ability is not in his control, so he could only be harsh, satirical, and condescending every time he opens his mouth, and regret it everyday till he was numb in resignation, and nearly cried with emotion when it ended as just offensive, and not making others broke down in tears, anger, or just straight out fighting.

Why worries about being OOC when you can't from the beginning? <<less

Tornament thingy, when he meets the red head og hero. Then I dropped it.

[collapse]

This story had a promising beginning, and I liked it alot which is why I sat through the info dumping (which honestly isn't much compared to other stories)

But what got to me was that EVERY interaction is about how GREAT the Harold is. I get it, I liked that at first. But this is overkill.

Like, yeah: Harold is cool, but I don't need a godamn SPEACH about it Every. Single. Chapter. Sometimes, this story switches perspectives JUST TO COMPLIMENT HAROLD!!!

Half the time in these instances, it's because of a MISUNDERSTANDING and they even take the time to switch back to Harold's pov just so he can recap WHAT JUST HAPPENED and the only variations of events is for Harold to hone in on what Villager C thought was awsome and have Harold say, at least three times: but that was an accident, I feel awful about what happened, or I think they misunderstood my greatness

I'm not even exaggerating.

What ended up being the last straw was when

Spoiler

Harold finally meets the og Hero dude, and then proceeds to PUMMEL HIM?!

like yeah, Harold practices alot, but the story makes it clear that red head does too??? That fight was waaaay too one sided!

[collapse]

And as icing on the cake, I have to listen to everyone gush over this dude for spitting out the harshest things. They should have kept it stuck on Harold's pov cuz I hate watching them fangirl over the things he simply implies

I know he has a reason for sounding so harsh, but that honestly makes it worse. Since I have to watch people kiss his feet for harsh things he is being forced to say.

Spoiler

And if we're being honest here, the Horld Filter thing started to sound like an excuse halfway through the story.

[collapse]

Ok. I'm done complaining, this whole Worship-the-ground-the-Gary-Stu-Walks-on just really bugs me, and is the sole reason I dropped this story. If you don't think that'll bother you then by all means, continue <<less
