Very good so far!

A good example of modern to ancient transmigration that doesn't make a common modern protagonist suddenly OP in the ancient times. I believe in leaving room for weakness in protagonists to make a good story. MC's background provides a lot of logical explanation for expertise in matters of military, politics and management but still being open to admitting being lacking in certain areas beyond common sense for modern people.

Great translation too as expected of Chrysanthemum Garden! Reads like an actual literary novel you'd pluck off the shelves.

Excellent! I really love this story. This is a kingdom buiding genre novel, the MC is steadfast and has a good head on his shoulder. The author provide detailed information... Hah, but I don't think I'll be able to read thid through mtl though 😔. Better wait for its translation. About romance? A younger loyal dog ML hehe. Oh, and the MC already had a son so he doesn't to worry about an heir.

Rating this novel with 5 stars because the translator/s deserve (s) it so much. The quality of the translation is so good.

Story wise, I loved the characters. The dynamics of the MC and ML plus the adorable child of MC. The kingdom building is very fitting to my taste, as well as the strategies and such.

However, the shift or (unnecessary) focus towards the historical figures confused, annoyed, and bored me. It really made it hard to read. But there's no helping to it. But even if the ML is infuated with the MC too fast, the relationship's still slow paced.

The author wanted to create a great historical novel by adding references about ancient Chinese dynasties, modern medecine, but mostly Buddhism...

And that's where it's not enjoyable. Because it's like reading a philosophical thesis when you juste want to enjoy a novel and hope the main characters get together.. One day...

Several chapters to narrate just one day, half of them about Buddhism and not the action.

And I'm reading 55 and still not a month has passed in the novel. Not much smexy interaction between our MC and ML yet....

It's a beautiful novel! heavily lean toward history. I love how the author spend her time explaining some historical events, enough for readers to understand and better comprehend the plot!

One thing that's a plus for me, is that I didn't have to deal with Nationalism. (I don't mind learning abt new cultures, even stealing some tips and norms which I find helpful. However, as a foreigner I will appreciate the culture, but will not tolerate the racism and intense xenophobic reaction toward western culture.)

Back to the plot! the MC,... more>> and ML have a fine chemistry, a slow burn love. I love how independent the MC is, love his personality, and I also love the ML character, so far he didn't shove his feelings toward the MC and demand him to accept it. Another plus for me.

I love the supporting characters, I love how the author portrayed them. They feel real, all had their own issues and motivations. Really rare in most novels I've read.

1 turn off for me was the literature, the Confucianism/Buddhism etc... OMG my brain was swollen, turned into cotton! it's as difficult as a Shakespearean drama. Thank God the author only brush over them while explain them. <<less
