The Academy’s Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter

Description

I possessed the weakest character in my favorite game’s Hell Mode. I want to survive, but the way the main character is being controlled is atrocious.

It can’t be helped.

I have to stop the bad ending myself.

This novel is the typical weak-to-strong story and is almost identical to 'fast food novels' (Novels with little quality writing but fast update speed). For starters, the MC is a literal simp for some mary sue who is all-so-powerful and playful and the author has to emphasize how perfect she is in everyone else's' eyes. The MC also has the power of plot armor (mind reading and almost every major villain being a demon) and the novel is full of the awful misunderstanding trope (like the MC being lowkey even... more>> though he's practically sh*t in other fields) and the romance feels rushed and forced as the characters act so superficial. Let's not forget, the author conveniently states that the original MC is so important and has powerful "magic" from our mc's perspective yet this guy gets knocked out every time to make our MC shine for some reason instead of the author demonstrating his power or growth (so he could be a rival for our mc). <<less

This is a great fantasy school story where the MC is secretly OP. This is an isekai light novel with a harem tag, so you better be looking for that when you start reading this. That said, this is better than average for that genre and it is really fun to keep seeing the story develop.

The MC transmigrates into a mob character and has plot knowledge from the game plus a power up against demons but things still manage to stay interesting as he tries to navigate to the best... more>> outcome. There are a lot of satisfying scenarios where we get to read about other people reacting to how OP the MC is, which is always a an important part of these "secretly OP" stories. Another bonus is that the MC's training gets mentioned enough to let you feel that he is trying to get stronger, but never so much that it overstays its welcome.

The harem works pretty well and the girls orbit him with pleasant interactions. It is pretty tame, with no major R-18 content. Thankfully, this isn't because the MC gets comically flustered or nervous around girls but is instead because he is an adult who is very concerned about keeping the situation in check to keep the protagonist alive.

Definitely give this a shot if you are looking for a story about an MC secretly being OP in a magical academy setting. <<less

The Academy’s Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter follows a fairly common template but executes it in an entertaining fashion. It tells the story of Isaac, a gamer who becomes an extra character in a fantasy RPG. While the set-up is familiar, the novel succeeds by avoiding many pitfalls of the genre.

Isaac makes for a refreshingly grounded protagonist. Despite receiving a special power, he struggles against human foes and only excels at fighting demons. This keeps his progression feeling earned as he methodically trains himself up from a weak student.

The supporting... more>> cast provides variety and depth beyond common tropes. The female leads in particular are well-realized, with distinct motivations and evolving relationships with Isaac. Even side characters feel human rather than just plot devices.

The story balances school life, adventuring, and romance at a measured pace. Isaac’s demon hunting provides exciting action sequences. Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding Isaac’s transmigration adds intrigue. The narrative strings the reader along with plot twists and new story arcs rather than growing repetitive.

Overall, The Academy’s Weakest avoids the pitfalls of many gaming-transmigration stories by ensuring consistent character development. Isaac and the cast grow together through interpersonal relationships, not just level-grinding. With steady progression and an engaging plot, this novel succeeds as an entertaining fantasy read. <<less

a very fun read and a must read novel, story is interesting and will keep you crave for more

MC is hardworking and not your typical MC and he's powerful against demons, his fight against demons is well written/well explained.

As for the heroines they are kinda lacking though in my opinion :/ I think its because im fed up already with those kinda tropes but hey its not bad! Maybe they will have character developments in the future.. Who knows.

Overall 7/10 (for now) I want to read the whole thing :p

Demon Limited Hunter is a story that although it seems pretty cliched with its name and plot, manages to become a pretty good read and interesting story. Probably the most interesting aspect of this novel is the interactions between the protagonist Isaac, and the heroines of the story. Also how he slowly becomes stronger as the plot progresses.

The story starts when our protagonist is sudenly transmigrated into his favourite game as the weakest character, but there is a catch thanks to the extra level points he got before transmigrating he... more>> uses it on combat vs demons. And like that is how he becomes the strongest whenever he is fighting a demon, otherwise he is really weak.

The premise of being a OP character but at the same time not is the selling point of this novel, and how our protagonist does everything he can to improve himself and become stronger without relying on his cheat ability.

And also what makes this novel intresting is the relationship between Isaac and the heroines. Most of the female main characters that we have seen thus far are pretty interesting and charming in their own way. <<less

The Academy's Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter overcomes its cliché title and premise to deliver an entertaining story with proper pacing and multidimensional characters.

Protagonist Isaac starts off weak after transmigrating into a game as an extra, but leverages a demon-hunting system to grow in power. However, he only gains boosts when fighting demons specifically, creating an engaging balance where he's OP against monsters but struggles in other conflicts.

The academy setting is downplayed compared to immersive fight scenes and Isaac's bouncing between heroines. Romance is a subplot that develops slowly and... more>> realistically. The diverse love interests feel like actual people with fleshed out backgrounds and goals.

Isaac himself is witty and likeable rather than a typical obtuse self-insert. Side characters have their own roles beyond propping up the protagonist. While the early chapters establish a solid foundation, the story continues to expand in scale and stakes while unveiling secrets about Isaac's past.

There's a good blend of lighthearted school life, bloody demon battles, and emotional drama. The novel subverts expectations by fleshing out tropes commonly played straight. With steady writing quality and broad appeal, The Academy's Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter executes the genre well enough to entertain veteran readers. <<less

By all rights this novel shouldnt work. In fact I found an mtl for this a while back, read 30 chapters and put it down. The reason for this was that I felt there was a lack of stakes, the characters were one dimensional and just me feeling a burnout from reading these korean game/ novel academy isekais. That was untill I saw it was decently popular and gave it another chance... and I was honestly blown away.

Everything about this novel just screamed that it shouldnt be as good as... more>> it is, that it shouldnt work, that its lacking so much that makes a story great... and yet it just works. Instead of running into roadblocks because of the way the story is told, it keeps going untill you start believing its great... and thats why its great.

It makes you believe that its better than it actually is. In that way it reminds me of the villain wants to live. But unlike that one, this novel knows exactly what it is and doesnt oversell itself that its deeper than the ocean and more complicated than a course at a med school. Its depth and stakes feels so fabricated at first, but just enough for you to stick around untill it actually delivers on its promises and keeps going untill it actually becomes great.

The author is clearly improving and building upon what he teased hundreads of chapters ago. Like a mystery that been around for the whole novel suddenly becomes a center piece to the whole plot.

All of this would honestly be pointless if not for the characters. They are what carries the plot at the start. And by that I mean the protagonist. On the surface he seems like any other protagonidt from one of these types of korean novels, but what makes him special is the way he deals with everything. I dunno if im right in saying this, but the man feels like a sigma male. He just goes in, does what he wants to do. Mans on a grind so that he can save the world, while at the same time is so casual about making a harem. His atitude towards it is like why not. The man isnt even trying, but just accepts it and moves on.

There is also rival character in the novel. The man isnt even that important to the plot and seems like complete fodder at first... but then he gets the greatest character development known to man. There was no point to making him one of the best characters in the story since he doesnt do much in the plot, yet whenever he gets screen time its judt honestly amazing. You are actively rooting for him to give it his all even though he doesnt stand a chance against the protagonist. And the best part is that the protagonidt sees his efforts and out of respect will compete with him, but wont give him any sort of comfort or be buddy buddy with him.

Also noteworthy is the harem. Some of the girls feels slightly pointless/ fill a niche so small that it could have been just one character (but they are still great). But then there are my favorites. Dorothy and Alice. I wont go in depth on them, but I will say that they are the Rias and Akeno of the series (but less friendly with each other). By that I mean their dynamic is similar.

I could go on about a number of things in this novel and spoil things, but im gling to shorten the next point as much as possible.

This story to me feels like it does a bunch of things for no reason. It could cut its cast in half and no value would have been lost. Same goes for some events and plot points... yet these same things also just add to the story. The author just loves to be extra with the most random of things.

That said its an amazing novel that keeps getting better and better and its hard to put into words why that is. I have just chopped it up to the fact that it works. <<less

Super rocommended, a very good novel!!! MC has a good construction, explains why he is dominated (even if it is only with the demons) and the interactions in relation to the characters are very fluid and logical, without anything too forced. The fMC are well presented and the author presents well the relationship between them, the good thing is that the MC is not desperate to get women (being a h**ny dog) and has in mind the main focus.

And his growth is something to note would be, that rapido but... more>> has logic, he has a system that helps him and not just deliver a lot of powers dominated, I think good and does not spoil the dynamics of the work. As I said before, I highly recommend it. <<less

"The Academy’s Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter" is an enjoyable, albeit generic, isekai novel that follows the story of a transmigrator named Isaac who finds himself in a game world that he used to play. The unique aspect of this novel is that the main character's strength is situational - he's incredibly powerful against demons but weaker against non-demonic opponents. This leads to many misunderstandings and humorous situations throughout the story.

The novel is an easy read with a somewhat predictable plot, making it perfect for taking your mind off things.... more>> The story is filled with misunderstandings, which may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it does add a layer of humor to the story. The characters are intriguing, and their interactions with the main character as they uncover his secrets are entertaining.

While the story has its flaws, such as the lack of immersion due to the author revealing that the main character is from another world, it still manages to be a fun, quick read. The world-building is well done, and the characters are fleshed out, making for an enjoyable experience overall.

In conclusion, "The Academy’s Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter" is a decent isekai novel that may not be a literary masterpiece but is still worth a read if you're looking for something lighthearted and engaging. The misunderstandings and situational strength of the main character add a unique twist to the story, making it an enjoyable escape from reality. Give it a chance, and you might find yourself pleasantly surprised. <<less

Sooo this novel has a unique premise in that the MC's strength is very situational. As the title suggests. Against demons. You're gonna absolutely despise this novel if you dislike misunderstandings in novels because thats what the entire novel is based on but everyone sees the MC clashing with demons and misunderstand how strong he is. This allows for everyone to respect him while keeping the stakes in battles against weaker, non-demon opponents.

My primary complaint is that the romance is somewhat slow compared to other Academy Transmigration but tbh that... more>> probably has more to do with the rate at which Genesis TLs is translating this. I'm sure it'll be Gucci if I'm binging. The misunderstandings also get a bit excessively sometimes but it's just a minor flaw. <<less

Ah yes, The Academy’s Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter.

I have read past 50 and after that, the story gets much better, some twist and turns, some suspense here and there.

one main negative review I saw was that the heroines throw themselves at the main character.

I would have agreed if I did not have read until 124.

Spoiler

turns out at the start of the novel there was this initial using phrase right. That was because turns out. This Is Issac’s second time doing hard mode. First time he failed. And seemingly he’s emotions he felt from failing number 1 made him more aware and on the ball. Less of thinking this world and allowed him to act effectively. This also explained why Luce was so interested in Issac not just because he was hardworking. But because the past emotions generated something more in her

[collapse]

so I think this justifies the heroines throwing themselves at Issac. Luce reason in spoilers. Dorthoy got kidnapped, family killed alone ye so Issac is her emotional support and she’s interested in him. For kaya.... ye no comment.

let us continue to my very good explanation of this novel characters

Spoiler

Issac MC of the novel, so called weakest.

MC became weak. That’s fine. Got a system that gives him stats that fine. But there’s an option to have an advantage against specific races? Kinda racist but fine. Most of the main enemies are demons well could have just given him a demon slayer bloodline or something (like the novel how to live as a villain) instead of giving the system a stat like that (my own thoughts are that the advantage against demon stat is fore shadowing since there is also advantage against gods stat so idk maybe?)

What I can’t believe is that the grows hes strength a bit too quickly.

He is on hell mode right now where enemies are way harder making it hard for the MC to keep up and the exp they give is the same as if you receive in normal mode

however, in the 1st semester he is the weakest, E rank mana so on absolutely bottom.. End of 1st year dude becomes stronger then the average Joe other then the named characters (Dorothy Luce kaya, Ian fairytale so on) just a bit unbelievable. Dude killing demons, system gives stat awards, throws into growth

and grows to be fricking strong. If you ask me it’s a bit too fast but it’s fine I rather if the dude is average and then becomes like one of the top rather then bottom lowest of the lowest then stronger then your average Joe. And by the way all he did was stats and training. I feel there should have been medicine, other cheats like knowledge from the game level up exp or something that should have complimented hes growth instead of increase growth stats train repeat.

But what can I say the novel is quite fast pace.

However I do like how creative the fights with are (although most of them go down fast due to hes demon limited skill making him overpowered against most demons at the start)

Some illusion demon has the ability to bring people to their domain where they might even seem to be a god there.

Some demon throws the entire school people attending some ball into an illusion so MC demon skill wasn’t activated since technically the demon wasn’t attacking him so on

When MC gets the most overpowered weapon for him, there was diffficult trials (like no kidding it’s chapter 50 onwards my favourite arc yet)

Dorothy- star girl can use starlight or something like that magic. Overpowered. Talks quite childish, however that must be how she made her personality to be. She wants to stand out and be the centre stage. In (original) game the novel is about she dies sacrificing herself for the world. Not too bad I feel. Although she feels childish with her nwahahahha/nhihihihihi laugh or something, she knows the situation when to be playful and when not to be so she’s not mentally a child more of like this is her personality. If you look into her backstory she was kidnapped by a demon planet thing, she escaped and when she went back to her village everything was destroyed. Instead of losing hope or going crazy since back then she could still use starlight magic so if she turn evil the future gonna be doomed. She decided to stand out like her current personality. (I could be wrong since it’s been too long since I read about their history)

so the fact that she who hates the world did not become evil but saved the world against a planet something demon is insane

Her positivity was so contagious it helped the MC out of depression in hes previous world.

5 out of 5 stars no drama (ps: with how Unkown this starlight magic is she had potential to become an enemy/possessed by one- my theory)

Luce- pink/gold-rose whatever Yandere girl

Stay away from her. If I’m in that world you seeing me do the social distancing act on her.

First few chapters she’s fine. But she is so Yandere that the MC even said that in the game there’s a timeline where she kidnaps the player traps them in a cage (could be metaphorically). Eventually she got the hots for MC and he’s disguise hoping that the disguise person is the MC so she can kidnap him and pin him down probably to use as blackmail or something (it’s been too longgggg.) although people say she felt too easy to fall in love with the MC I will say it here, chapter 120 shows why she was a bit too interested in the MC at the start.

Kaya- green hair girl.

Honestly not much comment about her. Like she feels one dimensional because I don’t think I have much context other then being a heroine being an elf and royalty, having a personality disorder later on making her very interested in the MC the seductive way. And her being a justice oriented mindset.

Like if there’s this super overpowered person in my class, I would be scared sh*t like one of the characters I can’t remember about (Lisette the name).

I wouldn’t be like looking up to someone who’s hiding their ability, going up to them after they killed a demon and say I want to help you fight demons for justice.

After she gets her personality disorder she grew on me since I like those characters that introduce split personality.

[collapse]

Onto the side character. (Btw issacs sister was introduce in 50ish plus. She was never mentioned ever again anywho

Spoiler

Tristan the boy:

Remember those academy stories

Where MC meets that typical bully where they gang up or something and lose terribly leaving the school in shame or some casses dying.

Tristan ain’t them hes him.

He’s a pretty stuck up noble, looking down on commoners yah same drill. But hes attitude to facing them and he’s mindset differs. He is a true royalty where he instead of ganging up he intimates 1v1. When he loses to the MC he doesn’t plot for revenge like petty guys, he tried to learn from hes failures and improve himself and deep inside he may even view the MC as a rival. I just feel that this character needs a shout out because of how many forder villains there are that either are killed or leave the story entirely. Did I mention that he feels jealous towards the MC. But not only that he accepts the MC is strong and views him as a rival. So what does he do? Starve himself, train like a madman to the point of fainting and never giving up. He’s the G I tell you. The MC had a positive effect on this guy but hack he feels like an MC out of a comic. The kind where the villain change hes ways without being a reincarnated or whatever nonsense.

5/5 no drama

[collapse]

overal plus minus I still think it’s an ok read. 4 stars due to me likening the character, premise, and story. Little worldbuilding because he stays at the academy most of the time and they only ever explain a few plus enemy nations like the other elemental kings nations so on. Overall read if you want something fresh and don’t mind committing to the 100 chapter rule. <<less

This is my first impressions.

I don't like this novel.

I read the reviews and had hope that I would enjoy it as I made my way. But at this point I purely dislike it. I have hope though, I feel like within the next 50-100ch's I will start to like it. The reason I dislike it so much?

... more>> to start with that I will say what I do like first. I do enjoy an op character. IMMENSELY. This isn't the MC.

not now.

so to that I like weak to strong, and that element is certainly here, and you will see it coming from a mile away, he didn't simply Inherit it, he didn't eat something strange, get granted a power from a dead/dying wizard. He worked for it, AND WORK HE CERTAINLY DID!

There are many heroines, and also people who should and could be heroines. Maybe not tons of them but at least it is shown that even if there wasn't in the game, they had the ability and also the mc's interest.

the story (to me) is unique. The academy setting is overplayed.. I agree. Like a lot of standard isekaI's. The magic is new to me, and the reason is as well.

the MC is genuine, and hard working. And it is appreciated, although by a small circle.

Now...

dislikes.

I hate an MC who strategizes solely thru game logic. You know why? Because in that game it was perfect scenarios with perfect solutions (not that they were the perfect problems and perfect solutions, but they were set to happen as coded/instructed/made.) and the reason I hate it is because more and more as I read these story lines the MC 80% of the time gets wrapped up in that logic and they fail, or they win and when they win they don't take into consideration that THIS ISNT A f*ckING GAME! Now! What matters to me is after that. Nothing can be perfect, so to that it's only logical for someone to realize that, and do better. Yes?

the MC isn't doing that. And it pisses me off more because I have to constantly take game info dumps about how it should be and how he still doesn't wrap his head around it fully. 'How can this be'. Etc.

it's not the worst I've ever read by that plot, but it's still annoying.

also. QUIT ACTING LIKE A GRANDPA STARING AT HIS CHILDREN! It's creepy. The whole dad position is fcking weird, and he takes it a step further actually saying he feels like a dad while staring at them.

I hate it when the MC will not treat the story like it's real life, and more so seen he ignores their feelings and treats it as something not worth the effort to consider.

the only saving grace? He can't be oblivious. For certain reasons, and he actually puts it into consideration. Not to their damn face tho! He acts like a sole hero who can't be bothered to have help unless it's thrusted at him. He treats it as scenarios and always brings up bad ends. Once again, this isn't a video game. It's life. That's the reason I say I might enjoy it soon. Because slowly sometimes you can see that he might be able to adapt and live it, vs acting like it's all still a game.

one thing I do like is he doesn't have the hypocrisy to admit he's letting the scenarios play and he's sorry about letting it happen. He has already adjusted to the mentality that it is the best way to proceed. Although heartless and would make me like him more if he found ways around it instead. At least he isn't a hypocrite and think this is best and he feels bad for them, and how it hurts him to do it. He still has that grandpa mentality where he's seeing his favorites doing what they are supposed to, unlike having genuine feelings for them as people.

also, this is just me personally, but I hate a MC who spends too much time in their damn head. They tend to talk less in general, and on top of that will be in conversations, let alone in battles and tense situations but will have a full chapter of internal dialogue every single instance. It's boring, and just page filler imo.

I'll review and adjust as we go. <<less

A nice novel to spend your times. Its generic isekai academy but done mostly right, the pushover part of protagonist is annoying tho and you can find his dense moment like generic isekai but you can’t make a perfect MC anyway. And importantly even when he surrounded by many women he had priorities for 1 love interest (I’m not a harem haters but most of the story who had this tag are thrash)

This isn't a bad work, but it could be better.

My overt observation and comparison is that its inferior to "Fated To Be Loved By Villians"

It feels like it has the same dynamic in power being subjective to a context, and it also feels like a similar tone, but the feeling I get is that one is taking itself a little to seriously, and the other is just enjoying every element of what the setting, plot, and character arcs lead us through, and nailing everything with an A+...I wish I had... more>> more to say about this novel in comparison but there really is an apples to apples comparison to be made here.

The novel is definitely fun if you enjoy this sort of story, but there is a superior work if you wish to dig it up. <<less

This novel isn't bad, although every part of it is some kind of cliche. I would say that it gives you exactly what you would expect from its genres and description.

Pros:

- What I liked the most in this novel is really fast paced plot. While reading, pace of hero becoming stronger and clearing different "game" chapter wasn't decreasing at all. There were almost no fillers and those which presented felt like it's needed for fan service and small rest from main storyline.

- All characters are kind of cliched, but there... more>> were no irritating character, and I don't need more from this kind of novel.

- I'm not a big fan of harem genre, but here it's kind of implemented in a fun way, there were lots of yandere, tsundere and other kinds of gags, which sometimes were even fun to read.

- Plot is consistent and logical through almost 90% of chapters. This is a really rare thing that I wasn't facepalming every 10-20 chapters like I would on almost every harem-fantasy-harem novel.

Cons:

- I don't really like some main plot twists, it felt like brazilian drama at some moments.

- Almost no male characters except for main hero. I would say that every strong character except for main hero is woman, and it sometimes catches the eye and you remember what genres this novel has.

Overall, I really liked it and if to compare with other harem-fantasy-academy novels in current top-25 I liked it the most (I've read it till the end and it's really rare for me). <<less

A fairly decent transmigration academy novel. Far from a literary masterpiece, but the story and the way the plot unfolds is pretty interesting.

One gripe I have with the novel is the fight scenes. The MC is op against demons, so he basically oneshots them. I get that it fits in line with the narrative, but there's virtually no tension, as you can already imagine how the fight will end.

Other than that, it's a fun novel, and I could think of worse ways to pass the time. Also Dorothy is best... more>> girl and her presence made me give an extra star
