The Husky and His White Cat Shizun

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

Mo Ran thought becoming Chu Wanning’s disciple was a mistake.

His shizun was really too much like a cat while he himself was a dumb pup who’d only slobber and wag his tail.

Dogs and cats were different by nature; originally, the dumb pup didn’t want to reach his furry paws out to that cat.

At first he thought, dogs should be with dogs, like his shixiong, beautiful and tame like a cute Japanese Spitz, and the two of them together would surely be a match made in heaven.

Yet, after having died and reborn, after having lived two lives, the one he hauled back each time to his den in the end was always the one he couldn’t stand at first: that snow-white kitty shizun.

I do not write reviews unless a novel is good, so even though my review will be lost among the other ones, here it is. And my review is short and spoiler-free, so feel free to go ahead.

No book is perfect. No character is truly perfect.

A good story has imperfect characters. A great story has characters who change - change by their thoughts, not by their ideals, by their roots. No black is truly black, no white is truly white, only the grey shall turn into it's extremes.

With it's facetious... more>> title, many might want a light-hearted, something that caters to our thoughts, but the author clearly refutes the claim in one of their notes (these words touched me) :-

“Respecting readers and comments is important, but respecting the characters is the first thing the person typing the novel should do"

Truly, this literary work being barred to many just because of the genre of "Yaoi" hurts my heart, because it is a wonderful one, with no word wasted, and a definite change from perspective to perspective.

The reason why this novel is rated 18+ is not only due to it's graphic and explicit writings, but also due to the fact that many of the areas it touches upon, unless you have the heart to withstand, to understand, to meld your perspective, it's quite impossible and might want to put it away, and it's truly fine to do so.

Be it 30 chapters, be it 60, or be it 90, everything was done well.

And also, once again, do not be fooled by the title, and I hope my rather uninteresting review can make you read this interesting work of literature. <<less

I'm officially exhausted

I've prepared myself for the knives before I started reading but, I never expected that the knives would be this painful.

Honestly, this novel is a gem. You might find the MC annoying at first, but you will gradually like him.

... more>> I love all the characters. They are all written so well, every characters have their own story, and have their own reason for doing things

You might hate a character at one point bcs of their evil ways of doing things but, after knowing their backstory, you will instead have mixed feelings about them.

And the main couple... *Sigh* they are actually soooo cute. Their interactions are very heartwarming.

Spoiler

well, except the flashbacks with taxian jun in it. Especially with the noncon. Its painful to read man

[collapse]

Their slowburn romance will make you feel this urge to just shake their heads so that they can realize that they fkin love each other. But when they're finally together, you will feel this satisfaction.

And the knives, folks. It's PAINFUL. The knives are hidden at every corner and will stab you unknowingly.

Just, be prepared if you want to read this.

About the plot, it's—Iactually have no words.

It's just like riding a roller coaster. One time, the plot is slow, filled with random events and all. And then the the plot are slowly building up, you will slowly be fed with clues about the true mastermind, and then the big drop of roller coaster arrived. You will then be slapped repeatedly by all the revelations, the plot twists the slowly revealed mastermind, and also all the knives. All of that came rushing to you in a swoop.

All of the clues that have been scattered all over by the author will come together and then lead to the revelation of the true mastermind. You will realize at the end that the author has given you these small clues along the way. At the end you will just be mindblown

Spoiler

like when the mastermind was revealed, and also about the hate flower that originally want to be planted in Chu Wanning. I never ever thought that it's actually like that

[collapse]

But the knives tho, I don't even know how many times I have cried. Fortunately I have known in advance that it's HE before I even start reading. If not, maybe I will feel that it's going to have a bad ending because there really is a time when I truly feel like it's impossible for this novel to have a happy end.

All in all, I really, really recommend you to read this. Don't be discouraged just bcs this has lots of knives. Because other than having many knives, this novel also has excellent plot, massive plot twists and of course, all the unique and intriguing characters.

This novel will always have a special place in my heart (although I never want to reread this, bcs it's that painful haha). I will need to heal my heart with some fluff novels after reading this.

Just—really, whoever you are that haven't tried reading this, you have to. Because it's that good. <<less

Since I dropped, I wanted to make a couple notes

  • this author is a real foodie, honestly aspirational. Once they wrote a thing titled "I'm hungry"

so they goes ham on the food descriptions and relates it to the characters and scenes like a real chinese foodie, which they are
  • the ML is a shockingly isolated, extremely independent, and overwhelmingly strong individual. In many ways, he represents the idealized form that some may fantasize about attaining. He has one real weakness (outside of his disaster life skills and social sense), and is extremely misunderstood in the beginning; that's the reason why his suffering is so painful to witness
  • the MC not going to lie, I just can't bring myself to like him. The MC is why I can't read this anymore. They took the dumb husky and really capitalized the "dumb" part;

his motivations and thought processes are petty and simple. Even when he works relentlessly to become a righteous and "good" person, he's still a mess that gets tiring to read about
  • cue the dynamic. Some may find it sweet, but I find it insufferable, tiresome, roundabout, and not engaging. If you like the main s*um villain couple, this might be a gold mine for you. I really don't like this dynamic, so it made reading this really exhausting
  • WARNING: this has explicit torture, gore, r*pe, etc. While I don't mind it sometimes, this is important for anyone interested to keep in mind. These are past events, but the flashbacks are as detailed as the main narrative
  • I give this a 3.5; the saga may be great for some people, but I honestly can't bring myself to like the character, and the side characters are really "eh." Lots of imaginary bonus points for food and trinkets though

This series has one of the most bitter-sweet and heartbreaking romances I've ever seen in a bl novel. Assuming that a lot of you who are curious about this series are MXTX fans who have probably read at least MDZS/GDC or even TGCF/HOB, to give you some basis for comparison, while these two series can also be called "bitter-sweet" because they have their fair share of tragedies, the romances between lanzhan/weiying and huacheng/xielian are still pretty much what I would call "sweet". In many moments, the romantic developments of these... more>> couples are even able to act as a respite for readers amidst the tragedies unfolding in the main story. In Husky and his White Cat Shizun however, don't expect to let the main couple heal your heart because they're the ones who will be tearing it into pieces. Whether one can enjoy this depends on their taste for angst, but either way you should really be prepared to shed some tears (if you have a heart, that is).

Though, even for those who are scared of angst, I would still encourage you to give it a shot because this series also delivers some pretty solid fluff and heartwarming moments. Overall, I would say the novel is still pretty fun up till chapter 211. From there onwards it's time to prepare some tissues... <<less

After reading so many positive reviews, and hearing my friends talk about it, I decided to try this... I'm not disappointed but let's just say the end didn't satisfy me at all. I feel like the 5 stars reviews completely gloss over all the problematic aspects of this. And the 1 star reviews forget the qualities. My review was orginally 3 stars, but I brought it down to 2 because of the end that truly bothered me a lot.

Let's start with the positive.

The Writing style is absolutely phenomenal. The... more>> author really knows how to get you hooked, she paint such beautiful images. I really enjoyed myself with this one.

The Worldbuilding is really well-done. The author really fleshed out most of the world and it's very satisfying to get into it.

I did have more positive aspects but... they kinda disappeared after the ending. All the developpement of the characters, the plot itself that I found interesting, for me they're rendered useless because of this ending.

Negative.

The r*pe p*rn. One of the main problematic of this novel is the r*pe p*rn. The things is the r*pe scenes are treated as erotica, as something that the readers should enjoy, and not like the traumatic events that they truly are. When Moran thinks of Chu Wanning and how he r*ped him in the past he get a boner. No matter how guilty he feels about this, no matter if he even feels disgusted by himself, I can't take his guilt seriously if everytime he thinks about it he gets a freaking boner. Tbh I skipped all the r*pe p*rn because I'm really not interested in that and the novel became much more tolerable then.

The gratuitous angst. I should expected that tbh considering my friends is a huge angst fan and I'm not. It's not that I hate angst, I like well-done angst, but I just hate when authors throw angst just for the sake of drama and pulling out tears. It makes me roll my eyes. Some scenes in this just made me laugh instead of making me cry like they intented. Now, not all the novel is like this, just some scenes that really frustrated me. Exemple below.

Spoiler

for exemple, I don't remember exactly but when Moran was trapped somewhere, and Chu Wanning was the only who could save him, of course, by magic of the plot, Chu Wanning couldn't do it as himself and had to enter Shimei body, because of course the story wants you to see this really tearful, tragic scene of Moran believing Shimei saved him and thus falling deeper in love with him and poor Chu Wanning pretending to be Shimei even though he really wanted to tell Moran he's the one doing all that! This is just s*upid, in my opinion. It's gratuitous angst. It makes no sense whatsoever. It's angst for the sake of angst. The scene could have been a great way for Moran to see more of Chu Wanning true character, to see Chu Wanning actually cares for him and save him, but instead we get this.

[collapse]

Annnd, the true negative aspect : the ending! For me, the ending completely destroy the purpose of the novel. I'll put that part in spoiler warning cause I will go into details.

Spoiler

What is this novel even about? For me, it's about redemption mainly. It's about Moran going into the past and seeing that his shizun isn't who he thought he was and repenting for what he did and becoming a better version of himself. All the freaking novel is about Moran experiencing his guilt, feeling horrible because of what he did, and promising himself that he will do better. And what do we get in the end? Freaking Moran Emperor (coming from the og timeline) appearing out of nowhere and Chu Wanning forgiving him cause he just loves Moran sooo much... Excuse me? Did I just read an entire novel of Moran trying to be a better person just for this freaking Emperor to be forgiven without doing any efforts whatsoever but it's fine cause he was controlled by some sort of flower? Tell me, what was the point of Moran going through all this redemption process if Chu Wanning forgiveness is so easily given? So the novel is literally useless. Moran going through all those changes is all for nothing because in the end the version of him that didn't change at all get the exact same treatment. Yeah, Emperor Moran get his happy ending and he did nothing for it, he never worked on himself, never even felt guilty, hell he r*ped Chu Wanning again, but all is forgiven because of the power of love. Alright. Guess you didn't have to change at all Moran, sorry you went through more than 100 chapters of redemption because in the end Chu Wanning forgive everything, even the version of yourself that did nothing to be redeemed. Awesome. The reveal of the flower that controlled Moran already made me wince a little bc clearly it's made to lessen Moran accountability and paint him in a more agreeable light. But, from my understanding, the flower didn't force Moran to do all of this, it just turned his love into hatred, so technically Moran is still at least half-accountable for the r*pes, so Emperor Moran shouldn't be forgiven so easily, as if he's a poor martyr either. Thing is, Emperor Moran returning got me really excited at first bc I believed it was time for Moran to face his past life and overcome it. It could have been the turning point where Moran truly see what he was and what he did wrong, and symbolically defeating Emperor Moran could have been a new start for our Moran. Instead we got this...

[collapse]

All I can say is Chu Wanning, have some respect for yourself, clearly you lack some.

Without this ending, and the r*pe p*rn, I might have given the novel a solid four stars. The plot is solid, the characters interesting and the writing style beautiful, but those two factors brings it down really. <<less

For readers thinking of trying this novel, just a quick warning for you: this novel has a lot of trigger warnings and definitely not for the squeamish. Don't like non-con or dub/com? Don't read. Don't like dogblood and or s*umbags? Don't read.

I've been holding off on reading this for so long, and this week, I've finally finally finished it. Did I like this? Yes.

If you're looking for a novel with a relatable MC and ML, this might not be for you. MC and ML are both extremist. You will feel... more>> sympathy for them, angry for them, sad for them BUT NOT relate with them to the fullest. Some of their decisions will be illogical and if you're a realist reader, then sad to say this novel is really not for you. Both MC and ML can be said to be a little mad. Their misunderstandings stemmed from assumptions, hate, wronged feelings, unrequited like, unsaid sacrifices and many many more.

Death in both lifetimes. Retribution and redemption. Heavily emotional novel. Especially at the end, you'll end up crying your eyes out. This is not an easy read, not fluffy, not cotton candy and clouds, full of knives and car.

Doesn't matter what reviews you might read. To each their own, if you like heavy, hard, angsty, smutty, all-in-one type of novel, then go ahead and read this. We all have our cups of tea, not suitable for all. <<less

Not for soft-hearted people.

In contrast of the people who cried and cried for this novel, I did not shed a tear; it was painful in some parts but it did not lead me to actually cry and such. As for the plot, it was epic, actually, if it was executed successfully. Personally, I think that it's way too long and because of the length, it got hard to execute the story. It was messy in the later parts; the transition and the message were so messy it was hard to... more>> follow and you'll just end up scrolling away. Of course, the lead characters bring so much joy when they interact. To be honest, I skip when there's no Chu Wanning and Mo Ran scenes just because... As for the extras, I skimmed and scanned for the scenes where CW and MR were present. I actually wished that Taxian-jun had more scenes because he's an interesting character- he's actually so hilarious and I feel bad whenever Chu Wanning ignores him.

Anyway, it would've been an epic story if only the author had managed to execute the plot successfully until the end. <<less

This is going to be a somewhat clunky review, because I am a little torn on whether I will ever try to read past my drop-point or not. People really sell this novel, and most of the characters are compelling enough for me to agree that there is definitely some enjoyment to be had. Meatbun's writing style is good, and there is definitely a convoluted plot with passable execution so far. Enough has been spoiled that I think that I might even enjoy the end result enough to wade into... more>> the gritty bits.

The MC is a really interesting choice to have as our point of view, and his internal monologue is usually engaging in some way or another. The ML is genuinely fascinating, and as someone else has pointed out to me, it was really good to see a character that just needs support. He is intelligent and competent, and he also needs help doing everyday things. Side characters have been moderately interesting so far, to the point where even one-off side-stories can make an impact.

But in the end, this book really does not hook me. The plot feels, weirdly enough, too big. The stakes are so high. Everything is just so much some of the time. Unlike Yuwu, we get some breathers, but in the broader scheme of things I think that the romance is a bit more shakey. I really like these characters, but oddly enough, I want to see them in any other story. <<less

I have no idea how to express how I feel about this book. I couldn't bring myself to read it since last year because of the massive amount of spoilers I've received and I know I'll drown in pain once I read it. And indeed, I spent countless nights crying myself to sleep as I read. Was it worth it tho? Yes totally. If possible I would like to erase my memories every time I finish reading and reread this book again and again.

ErHa has brought me up to the... more>> ninth heaven and threw me down into the deepest corner of hell; making me hate the characters, yet pulling me to understand their pain, their emotion, their sacrifice, and let me view the world from their position. I still can't believe how much of a masterpiece this book is, how amazingly written it is. Everything from the start until the end of it seems to be so carefully planned, and once you get to the revelation point, you'll find yourself thinking "Ah, so that's how it is, how did I even miss that?" Or maybe you'll feel a joyish emotion as you say "I knew it! I'm such a genius!" I was a mix between these two throughout the whole time, what a roller coaster ride.

About our main characters Moran and Chu Wanning, I love them so much. Other than love, I truly don't know what kind of words can be used to describe my feeling towards them. I hated Moran at first, I really did, just like every other reader who has just started this book. How arrogant, unreasonable, s*upid, and cruel he was. What 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, they're all the same person, I hated them all! So I thought, and such, my hatred lasted so long, not to be dismissed until the truth was slowly revealed. I read about his sacrifice, how he was manipulated, how he was just a puppet to the real mastermind behind the tragedy of their two lifetimes. I read about how he loved his Shizun yet he was unable to express it in the gentlest way that a lover should, due to the chains that shackled him. And after I knew everything, I stopped reading for a while and cried again. I cried about how he had been wronged, cried for his kindness, his innocence, and cried for how sorry I was for misunderstanding him.

And for Chu Wanning, at the start, I really wondered how such an ethereal person could even fall in love with that idiot. Was it because he called you a gentle immortal gege? Or was it the neverending pestering for you to be his Shizun that got you softhearted? I truly couldn't understand. But then I read about the little earthworms, the pot of rice milk, the handkerchief, and the umbrella. Even the toughest rock would melt away under such a scalding downpour, and that was how I understood how shallow I was, how I had no understanding towards love at all. Chu Wanning loved silently; he kept all the joy, pain, and sorrow by himself. And once he loved, he continued loving until the very end of his life, sacrificing whatever he still had left to pave a return path for his beloved. I'm so envious of Moran, such a sincere emotion, where else can we find it? Sign me up for one!

Every other character that existed in this story, they were all so lifelike. Some were selfish, some were selfless, some were like snakes slithering in the dark, and some you would find them standing at the very front line, shielding everyone behind them. I hated them, but the next second I would find myself thinking if I were in their position, would I have made a different decision? But there's no if, and we are not the characters in the book, we don't really have a say in their actions.

ErHa is now officially my favorite book, 10/10 in everything. For those who dropped ErHa in the first dozen chapters due to how uninteresting it may seem or how unbearable the characters are, try to give it another chance. I will confidently say that you will not regret reading ErHa. <<less

I hate Mo Ran, it's already unimaginable how he had given a chance to rebirth. Maybe it's for Chu Wanning and not for him. But I'm really flabbergasted how Chu Wanning got to like him, to think Mo Ran is just 15 when they first met and still don't know what Chu Wanning's exact age is. It's really unreasonable! Unfair! Unreasonable!

My most favorite character in here is Xue Meng, he acts and lives very reasonably. I like how he act childish but we all got to remember his age and... more>> he's more open minded than Mo Ran. I can't believe Moran, so dumb indeed.

I have the same personality as Shizun, trying not to inconvince anyone and do good deed behind the shadows but to think he got to like someone like Mo Ran, it's so unreasonable. It's quite dissapointing. Mo Ran have to take two lifetimes to mature but look at Xue Meng, never once doubt Shizun and knows what good and right.

I also like secluding myself and sometimes thought why I'm alone but I know I choose it for myself. Having the chance to read Chu Wanning's monologue is so hard. Such upright, kind, and pure person. That person only need just one person to understand and care for him but what's with the author not giving any option? Only Mo Ran? Shizun needs someone older than him! Unreasonable!

It makes people like me hopeless that noone will get break through us. I really want to jump to the novel and cherish Chu Wanning. (But the dude is gay and I'm a girl∪ˍ∪) People like Chu Wanning needs people with the same likes as him. That's why I'm really agonizing how the author treated this poor guy. "If there are people like me exist and then surely there will be another one, right?" Why does it have to make the poor guy suffer? Aaarrggh. So unreasonable!

I was shock when I first read the line on Shizun's POV "... maybe he also like him?" and I really stare at that "also" for a loooong time. Not believing it. What? This esteemed person like Mo Ran? But why? How? Why would you? Unreasonable!

Spoiler
[collapse]

The author really messes up Chu Wanning's character. Dignity, perseverance, self-control, it's unresonable. If I have such STUDENT I wouldn't like him. <<less

I spent a lot of weeks putting on hold of my assignments and doing it last minute BUT THIS NOVEL IS TOO ENGROSSING AND COMPELLING. It literally, physically and mentally, pains me whenever I try to stop myself from reading so I could do my homeworks... so I said to myself "I'll do it after the next chap" and ended up reading for the whole day until the next early morning. For anyone who are into hardcore angst then this is the novel you've been looking for. It'll cut your... more>> heart with sharp myriads of knives over and over, and when you thought everything seems alright it'll gut out your heart again deeper than the previous ones. There is still a fair share of light fluff and funny scenes (which are satisfying after the train of feels), still― saying that this novel is heavily full of angst. I must remind you that you should still look into the tags for warnings on what this novel has, so proceed at your own risk. The novel itself is amazing when it comes to detail oriented and attentive writing style for the character depth and plot. There are also times where the novel presents the other character's pov in a smooth pace that doesn't entirely disrupt the storyline but the author's are giving you an amount of time on what to think about the other characters perception and their depth (I would also like to applaud the authors of how compelling the writing style is when it came to each character depth. They want you to be observant and attentive when it came to character perception as everyone is different and their character depth are so unique to look at you'd even root for those side characters you never knew you'd want to protect and hold like they're precious. Plus, the attention of gradual character development constantly transfixes you to the point it's a love-hate relationship with the characters and the novel but still find it interesting anyway and makes you wonder what happens in the next chapter). if you're here for romance, like -instantly- and not maybe here for the plot, I kinda advice you to look into something else as this novel's level of romance very much emphasizes on Slow-Burn Romance. Very slow-burn romance. Which means if you're impatient, then you might get a little (too) frustrated on waiting for them to be together but still―! Give it a go, it's a really compelling novel. To me nonetheless. <<less

Before starting the novel, I read many reviews.. some were good and some were bad... So I decided to read it out of curiosity. I would have regretted if I had skipped this novel... It's so good. It's my second favorite novel!

This story is beautiful and painful at the same time. The characters are well written. The story is good. The character development in the novel is fantastic, one of the reasons I love this novel is because of the character development of the MC and ML. I have cried reading many novels but I have never bawled, but 2ha made me bawl. The story is emotion-driven, so within a few chapters, you will be totally into the story. Even though the novel is very long, it's not boring at all! But there are some loopholes in the story, There are some parts in the story which doesn't make sense and what I believe was unnecessary, there is some unnecessary angst too, but let's just accept the fact that there is no story that is perfect.. the flaws are not major ones, we can just ignore those. But overall this story is not something that everyone will like and appreciate. If you like reading stories with angst, stories which require you to invest your emotions, make you cry badly and of course, great characters and nice romance do read it! Don't Miss It!

The extra chapters of this novel are really cute and funny... Don't forget to read it!

Spoiler

I really appreciate meatbun for creating a character like Chu Wanning... I think he is one of the best characters I have come across while reading novels... Chu Wanning was very relatable and realistic... All of his flaws were portrayed very beautifully and the way he deals with his flaws and overcomes his insecurities were also written very nicely... He was shy to accept his feelings for Moran at the beginning of the story, but in the latter part, we can see clearly how he doesn't hesitate to express his love for Moran and he wholeheartedly accepted and loved all the versions of Moran (0.5, 1, 2) equally. I just love him so much🤧

MY HEART WENT THROUGH SO MUCH PAIN READING THIS MASTERPIECE.

There were a LOT of times that I was in pain, I was very angry, I couldn't breathe and I wanna go over inside the novel and bash the heads of every characters in there. I swear this novel will make your blood boil.

You'll experience a lot of different pains when reading this: pain over obvious, idiotic and stubborn pinning of our leads, pain over betrayals, pain over truths uncovered, pain over loved ones dying and well, the general pain.... more>> But you know what?

You'll also experience relief. Relief that yes, they finally saw the truth; yes, they finally confessed; yes, it's finally over.

Most of all, you'll experience sweetness. And honestly, you better cherish those sweet moments because it was all hard earned and well deserved T__T

so I'm telling all of you: YOU BETTER READ THIS DAMN NOVEL. NEVER REGRET. <<less

I hate the gong much especially on how much tr*shy he was to his shinzun in his past life and he has no regrets of it until he got to know the truth also he literally has a complex victim mentality all the time , and even though he had suffered alot in the redemption arc, but his shinzun suffered more like alot.I still don't even understand why chu wanning would do such sacrifices for his loser students apart from xu meng and even forgives him for the sh*t he... more>> did, to be fair I think shin mei would be a better match for shinzun than moran ever could dream of, like the only difference between him and moran is that moran is the main character so his gets his redemption and happy ending if anything moran did worse things than shin mei in his past life so I don't get why ppl hate shin mei so much lol, if shin mei was the main character and got his redemption same PPL will defend him as well lol ngl the only reason Moran got a pass is because shinzun blindly loves him so the readers forgive him through the process but I don't I ain't got no amnesia shinzun, the other only reason why shinzun likes him is because of his low self esteem and decides to end up with absolute garbage when bro deserves someone who didn't need a reason to treat him right mf deserved green flags like lan zhan hua cheng who would wait for him a hundred years not this ugly ass h**ny mf who wasn't even loyal to his so called true love shin mei lol in his past life, to be fair shinzun deserves better than these two psychos but if I had to choose between the two shin mei is still better like both are shits but atleast cowdung is useful since PPL use it for manure. Like PPL forget the first half of the novel just because moran changed like ??? Dude needed a reason not to be selfish and cruel he was never a good person to begin with he needed a reason to know how raping his shinzun was bad like and not PPL blaming txj and the flower for his behaviour when after rebirth he still had no regrets and still thought of shin zun like that??? I just like to to imagine that the series ended when
Spoiler

moran died lol ngl, it would've been better that way the story degraded after it

[collapse]

But wait but if u like spicy novels with excess angst u will definitely like it, it also comes with the trope of play boy or himbo with virg*n mary who is too pure for this world but is to much of an introvert to talk and has low self esteem that a lot of PPL like. But absolutely overrated in my opinion, there are actual beautifully written but underrated novels out there that deserves better and if u were in for a good story and doesn't like violence, r*pe etc this definitely ain't for u, this just feels like Wattpad 18+ angst novel were no matter how s*um the ML they have a happily ever after lol, and ngl author shouldve made shinzun orange cat instead of white and teach moran the right lesson <<less

I must say I forced through myself to read it. Up to part where Shizun is alive after timeskip and Moran is tall handsome man.

Minus for me ... more>>
Spoiler

1. Shizun in annoying tsundere who too proud to communicate his feeling which always lead to bigger understanding

2. Shizun is old but he like Moran since he was a kid (around 15yo or less). Pe*ophile much? I think a lot of people overlook this part and keep defending shizun

3. Shizun is ashamed with his feeling for moran that's why he was harsher to Moran than to any of the other students even tho he knew Moran admired him so much. He never gave moran time to explain why he did what he did (when moran unknowingly stole white flower because he wanted to give it to shizun).

4. Everybody know toxic parenting will leave bad impact on kids. Aside moran lived miserably as a kid. He grew to be loved by his new family (uncle etc and shizun). But what shizun did? Shattered moran expectation to be loved by shizun. If he never love moran, he could use his cool head to ask moran why he stole the flower but no, "oh I better beat up moran. Oh I felt bad I was harsh, I better cook him food and ask someone else to deliver it. I think it's enough I don't need to apologize because I m the shizun even if I m shameless enough to love a little boy". "Oh how about I don't save moran's first love and never told him the real reason because I can't leave the gate or the monster will come right pouring and let moran grow more misunderstanding"

5. Shizun was surprised how moran turned to be the biggest villain of all but it all rooted to how he hurt moran when he was a boy and not saving moran first love (if he just f*ckin use his damn brain and talk like human being there won't be unnecessary misunderstanding)

6. After timeskip, the novel became more annoying about how moran and shizun always "remember" their "s*x in past life". Get a grip. I know it smut novel but there's time and place. I really think shizun is the most hypocrite human being. He is a pedo, yet to protect himself he hurt the kid, and now the kid grown up he kept desiring moran body secretly

7. Shizun knows moran is s*upid but he kept hoping moran is smart without him telling anything

[collapse]

Many people always said : oh poor shizun, moran is an a**hole.

Look bro. The novel is more or less moran point of view. Why would you kept cheering on a pe*ophile who kept making misunderstanding without any effort to resolve the misunderstanding. I know many girl readers really like positioning theirselves as uke/shou but you can't just blame seme/gong when the cause of all problems is the uke. If shizun didn't behave like that, 1st lifetime won't even happened
Spoiler

if shizun didn't act so proud. I understand he was pure immortal. Even so it was his fault he was a pe*ophile who liked 15yo boy and then acted harshly to moran (a mere 15yo kid)

[collapse]

Bigger rant why I hate Shizun the biggest hypocrite tsundere on BL

Spoiler

Shizun could have just ask for forgiveness from moran, explain to him why he can't save shimei (to avoid tear barrier and demons coming), why he was harsher to him (because he didn't wanna listen to moran explanation). But no, he chose to be r*ped by moran as moran concubine. Why tho? Why? Wasn't he just taking advantage moran hatred on him? Moran thought what he did was humiliated shizun by raping him but in my understanding shizun just taking this as advantage as "atone his sins by sleeping with moran"

[collapse]

In 2nd life, moran tried so hard not to be a villain. He tried to atone what he did in past life. But what shizun does is still the same. Same f*ckin arrogant prick who raise his hand so fast to beat up people.

Spoiler

I kept reading it in hope shizun stop being tsundere and be honest. Be more gentle. But no. He still arrogant. Even when he turned into a kid he just hope moran care for him without him saying anything. He could ask. He is in a kid body. He could act clingy when he was in kid body. Moran even confess to kiddy body shizun that his shizun hates him (which is heartbreaking because moran in 2nd life really wanna atone his sins to shizun but he thought shizun hates him). Shizun knows exactly well that moran misunderstood his harshness as him as hating moran. But he never resolve this problems. As in kiddy body he could just say to moran "oh moran shizun is actually just shy person I believe he doesn't hate you" but did he ever say that. Of course not. Not with his pride. Use your f*ckin mouth to talk. Moran is not mind reader.

[collapse]

I disappointed by how toxic shizun character is but always been whitewashed as "oh poor shizun he was just being misunderstood". If you ever falsely acuse in police, will you defend yourself by telling your truth or just hoping miraculously someone knows that it was misunderstanding??? I m so fed up with his character.

Wasn't him the one who caused all of this? The only thing that changed in 2nd life is moran become kind and super loyal and grateful to shizun after he secretly learn that shizun is actually really care for him but very proud to show his emotions. But shizun himself never change. He only hope his secretly good deeds was appreciated. Yes yes shizun did a lot of good things of course but he also voluntarily make misunderstanding and think "oh I already did good things for you, so I hope you understand later but I won't resolve any misunderstanding"

I must say I really hate shizun being whitewashed all the time. He never have character development and suddenly received love and respect from moran when he never even changed

Aside from that. Too many gibberish. Too many remembering s*x part from past life. Very annoying. Overly exploit shizun as being misunderstood. The good point is, shizun saved himself from being a groomer. Because he never brainwashing 15yo moran to be his lover/loves only him

Yes, I m that reader who hate shizun over moran. I know many readers hate moran for misunderstanding shizun secretly kindness but I m not that crowd. Moran took effort to learn from his mistakes and even tried to learn the truth but the opposite is shizun <<less

They say don't judge a book by it’s cover. Well in this case, don't judge this novel by it’s cover, title and even summary. Like everyone else is saying, this novel is not what it appears to be on the outside at all. I won't say much and simply write my feeings about this, since everyone else has already done a great job at describing how beautiful and heartbreaking this novel is. I could only say that this novel made me cry so much around the end of it, and... more>> hands down this is the best bl novel I have read so far. Erha has permanently taken a special place in my heart, and I don’t think it's going to change anytime soon. <<less

  1. First of all want to address the one star reviews saying how disturbed or disgusted by the r*pe scenes. I mean Have you not read the tags before you read the novel? Don't you think you're being a bunch of drama Queens trying to act on moral high grounds when you doesn't know the whole story or try to in the first place. I suggest get out of here for future readers who's upset about this sort of thing and don't dirty the reviews section. Okay okay with that said. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY declare this was a wonderfully written masterpiece *clapclapclap!*

There wasn't alot of moments where my heart didn't bleed from heart aches for these 2 brave souls across their timelines. My tears can't stop flowing, my emotions were wrecked

my mind were shattered, my stomach turns from page to page. I just can't stop feeling the pain that these 2 has felt through out the novel. It's just heart wrenching and it breaks you down from the inside.

Oh Chu Wanning, Chu Wanning, our most kind and number 1 Tsundere Shizun! This man is deep in alot of ways 'cough ahem' I honestly never felt more conformable between a Master-desciple relationship than Chu Wanning and Mo Ran because the master has already fallen since the beginning! Usually it's the deciple secret love route and the Master never reconciled till they were forced or much later down the road, that kind of route I already gotten tired off. So this was really refreshing.

The love and misunderstanding build up across timelines really makes you feels in a rollercoaster, it's down to hell or up to the sweet heavens (very little of this) . I love them both for different reasons. Chu Wanning and Moran are both well built complex characters that leaves you wanting more from both of them.

The story is well made, even in a cultivation world, you don't need Cultivation levels to measure how strong characters are. You feel it's very natural and can go with the flow. Exploring characters stories and relationships is very refreshing and interesting. Especially the moments between Shizun and Mo Ran, especially the things they would do for each other. Titan and Romeo and Juliet can step aside and bow please.

I really love this novel, I hate really being ab*sed but I think it's worth the hurt. Everybody be brave and read it you won't regret the ride.
