Waking up, Kim Hajin finds himself in a familiar world but an unfamiliar body.

A world he created himself and a story he wrote, yet never finished.

He had become his novel’s extra, a filler character with no importance to the story.

The only clue to escaping is to stay close to the main storyline.

However, he soon finds out the world isn’t exactly identical to his creation.

Damn! this novel is good one of the best I'm currently reading. Binge read this story in just a day and that clearly show it earned my attention. Also, I'm writing this review to show that too.

What I like the most in the story is/are the character/s development. They are 99% realistic (the other 1% is the fantasy stuff which is not real... or is it?) and this is the main point that got me interested. The way the characters in his novel reacts to his actions and his reactions... more>> seeing his creation in reality is just well done! Even the complexities of relationships is shown in a humorous but "true story" kind of way.

For more details in the story, read the reviews with high likes count to see how good the story is. But in my own opinion, this is a good read. <<less

I think this story has tremendous potential because it is easy to be read, the characters are not 2 dimensional, the development was better than other web novel I have read.

Spoiler

However, as I read through the novel I keep wondering why the MC who did not have experience real life combat against monster could maintain his composure? Perhaps it was because he already going thru mandatory military service? I don't know for sure, but I want to recommend this story to everyone that didn't read this story yet.

The pacing and world building is good. But the MC is purposefully kept as a lone wolf, meaning he has to have a variety of unrealistic skills as replacement for actual comrades.
Spoiler

He has super shooting, super hacking, super luck and information of the plot. Not to mention customization of skills and weapons. These should be enough to keep MC relevant throughout the story. It should be possible to give him an actual ally, but I'm sure he'll handle things alone as always.

So far one of the best webnovels i've read, this doesn't really seem like a webnovel at all. It is well structured, the world building is interesting, the story itself has some mystery elements that are really appealing. But the best of it all without a doubt are it's characters. Gone are the one dimensional characters often found mostly in chinese web novels or the forgotten side characters. Overall I have high hopes for this novel, hopefully it will turn out alright despite many people calling out the author for... more>> the ending of his other novel, which I didn't read. <<less

Good pacing, good plot, good MC, good supporting characters. Its a great story all around. My favorite part has to be the pacing though. I read a lot and I was a bit tired of the super long plots that never get resolved until the end of the entire story. This story is a great breath of fresh air.

This novel is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G, even if you don't like light novels. It has some mistery, nice action, great characters, a brilliant MC, some nice jokes sometimes.

Just give it a try, you won't regret

This is the most enjoyable novel I have ever read.

So far, the story is not even at sixty chapters yet, but I can firmly says that I have never enjoyed reading a webnovel this much. Although this is one of the few Korean novels I have picked up, it is by far my favorite; while it holds some elements that are almost cliché, such as transmigration, "dungeons" appearing all over the world, stats, etc., it completely departs from every story, plot, and setting mold I have encountered to date.

My favorite... more>> part about the story is that it is so intricately woven together; nothing feels out of place. Other than for the initial setting, the author rarely dumps info on the readers, rather laying out a well-planned and sophisticated world that becomes more complex as the story progresses. At first, the story's original hero seems to be a somewhat two-dimensional character, but as the MC gets more involved, he starts to get more fleshed out. The major characters seem lifelike, and they each have their own nuanced personalities and behavior, which give the reader a complex impression of each of them, whether cunning and calculating, righteous and naïve, sweet, or energetic and headstrong. The characters have their own strengths, weaknesses and vulnerabilities, backgrounds, hopes, dreams, connections, etc., creating a rich environment for the author to draw from in his storytelling.

Although the MC has foresight based on his original story, I have the impression that this novel, when compared to other transmigration/reincarnation novels, will diverge from his original story much more quickly, and leave the MC to his own understanding of the world, and his own still-developing abilities, sooner than he expects.

I look forward to following this novel closely as it is translated, and I hope that everyone will take the opportunity to check it out. I am hooked.

Lastly, here's an intro to the story, with minor spoilers:

Spoiler

The main character is dropped into the novel he wrote, as a side character not mentioned in the original story. He has access to SP ("Story Points") that he gains by having a significant role in the world; the more of an impact he has, the more points he gets. The world is filled with heroes, monsters, dungeons, and superpowers (called "Gifts"), as well as a sinister force of demon contractors, who oppose the "good guys." The MC, as well as his original novel's protagonists, are students at the Hero Academy ("Cube"). The MC soon finds out that while the progression of events remains the same, certain vital details are substantially different - foes are stronger, and situations become more challenging. In this setting, the MC struggles to determine his place in the story and develop alongside the characters he created.

It's been quite a long time now since I've read a new and refreshing novel and I could say that this novel is one of those kind

The author's idea was kinda refreshing and his way of delivering his ideas to us was really interesting. And heck just look at all of the reviews and you could see that they're mostly positive reviews right?

A must read novel for people who's looking for something refreshing to read

Strongly recommend. Not your typical author stuck in a novel trope. Its a page turner and keeps you wanting more. The MC is likeable and the story flows smoothly. Translation quality and speed is top notch and its definitely worth all the love its been getting. I love it and I think if you love transmigration novels, it will be your cup of tea.

I didn't really want to try this story but then I saw all the reviews with 5 star ratings... now here I am also rating it 5 stars. It's very interesting. I like all the drama.

Spoiler

Main character is the author of his novel and now he is living out the novel. I like the characterization and the emotions the characters go through. And the main character cares about making money. Some sections made me laugh a lot so there's some humour. I also like how there's status points and skills, just like a game.

This story's first few arcs while the protagonist is at the school are pretty good. Even after that it does have its good moments, like the Tower of Wish arc, but in the second half of the novel some developments get rushed to get to the ending while there are all sorts of random side arcs that make the plot less cohesive. Our protagonist also does not communicate well with his friends and allies leading to a lot of pointless misunderstandings. I'm not a fan of how the romance was... more>> handled either. While I like the person MC ends up with, it basically comes after abandoning all the previous ship teasing, relationship build-up, and drama that went into the previous presumed heroine, making all that feel pointless. <<less

I definitely have a soft spot for this novel so there's a need to take my review with a grain of salt. On that note, I absolutely adore this novel. It's definitely in my top 3 of all time due to its significance to me. While others have described it's faults such as the misunderstandings taking forever to clear up and some filler arcs, I never had a problem with the second since the character moments and relationships are so heartbreakingly real at moments. The first "fault" I mentioned is... more>> something I love the novels for because personal relationships are not simple and I like that
Spoiler

the main character had to endure the actual consequences of his actions and didn't get saved by just explaining his pov because he did commit the mu*der of a friend's brother and no matter what his reasoning, it doesn't fix the fact that at the end of the day he pulled the trigger.

[collapse]
Definitely not a perfect novel and definitely not for everyone/is very divisive but certainly a very original and meta read on the genre at the time of its release and what I would consider one of the forefathers of the isekaid main character knows what is coming in the future subgenre. Give it a chance if you have the time and I hope you get the same emotions I got from this one. <<less

I binge read till chapter 157 (the middle of the tower of heaven arc) or about 40% of the story... It's really long about 1M English words excluding the side stories or like 14 normal length light novel volumes. Famously long novel War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy clocks at 580k words so this is 1.7 times the length of that, obviously this has much simpler prose and plot but still it's long as hell

The premise is really good, I like the concept of a sharpshooter in a modern fantasy... more>> world, it has some really cool ideas like the SP the "Concept power" and the mirror breaking stuff... Anyway it's really creative, but the core of the story is a melodrama which is really well done to be fair but with the novel being so long it starts dragging on a lot, it relies on misunderstandings and plays a lot with how character give and recieve information so it ends up feeling forced a lot of the times.

Still it's really well written it feels like every plot point has relevance and every conversation has a purpose which is rare-ish for a webnovel.

Just by reading the chapter titles of the next chapters I have a fairly good image of how the story is going to end and I'm not sure I like it.

In any case the writting is good but the drama is heavy and you have to be tolerant of the information plot device also I'm surprised this isn't classified as "Tragedy" because:

Spoiler

The main character is forced to kill the brother of his love interest whom he created to be a mentor figure in the original story. Whom he loved deeply as an author.

That being said the "co-author" of the remake is a real psycho, huh? The original author will probably never recover after everything is done is my guess <<less

Dropping this at chapter 116 bc I’m a paranoid bitc-

... anyways

I ship him with everyone and no one at the same time. Like at this point make a harem you s*upid moonkanoop. It’s either all or none cause ain’t no way there’s another choice with how things are going. Although I’m curious about who he actually ends up with, there’s some factors in the story that made me stop.

... more>> The relationships.

Literally hated the relationships between Hajin and like all his friends bc of the way the story is written. It’s in 1st person so we, the readers, get a front row look at his thoughts. And I’ve gotta say they were stale asf. Felt to me like he didn’t have much of an opinion on his relationships. For example someone would text him and he’d ignore it or an important character is talking and he’d keep interrupting. Were his reasons explained? Yes.... was the way he went about it boring for me? Also yes.

The story got a little slow but then again I DID drop the book early. Who cares really.

That’s all for me. Don’t really wanna sound too nit picky. It is a good story, just seems like the bad parts jumped out to me. <<less

I would love to give this book a 3.7/8, however since I can't do that due to website constraints and I refuse to rate this a 4, thanks to the ending, it's a 3 from me.

I will start with what I liked. The harem in this book slayed (Kim Suhoo included 🤭). I usually hate harems (that are not in palace intrigue) for numerous reasons, however this novel's harem is hard to hate. The harem's emotional connection with Hajin wasn't some flimsy boy is fine, boy is strong, boy save... more>> me, I girl fall for boy. Rather the author gradually tightens these relationships over the course of the story. Some other things I liked about the harem includes

  • The mutual dependability of these relationships.
  • The fact that though he only loved one person, he was fond of the rest.
  • Finally I also enjoyed the way each girl came to love Hajin, as it was all individually tailored to their characters.
Another thing I like was the power balance. Basically the main character had overpowered abilities, but so did everyone else. He worked hard for his abilities, tho not in a conventional way, but he still worked hard. Another smart decision from the author was to make Hajin's luck stats 9.1 out of 10 from the onset, this way his luck wouldn't totally seem like plot amor.

The last thing I have to mention are the characters. The actions or inactions of characters are supposed to tell us more about the characters even after their introduction. I don't see this done well/ a lot in the books I read, so I mentioned it. For example we know that Hajin is super into fashion even before it was mentioned. He especially dislikes messy hair, and sometimes instinctively arranges the hair of those he interacts with, and this was never explicitly written in bold by the author.

These are e what I hated about the book (In summary)

Firstly the whole Orden beast king arc should be scrapped. The events that occured during that arc can be worked into other arcs with much problem (in my opinion). This isn't some anti-African sentiment, and to be honest this is one of the better Africa portrayals (l mean the continent not the people since there was only one African person), but story wise it didn't add a lot to the story. The arc just made me feel like nothing was going on, and was almost completely boring. Also Orden isn't even an African name, it's dutch. For a creature who "Originated" in Central African you would think that his name would originate from that area.

There were quite a few unresolved plot points, the Lancaster vs Royal family plot point, or the Kim Hajin wish plot point or Hajin's alter ego self problem, pls where did they go.

Finally the ending 😭. What the hell was that ending. The beginning was strong, the middle was okay minus the Orden arc, which I believe was the start of the book's problems, but that ending was definitely rushed and not done well at all. There are lots of problems with the ending, but I will mention my major ones. This higher world, lower world thing was definitely not selling it self. The choices that Hajin was given at the end weren't choices at all, at least based on his character. In summary he was basically told to choose between being a masochist or being a mass mu*derer, and he obviously chose masochist. It would have been better if they told him "you can choose between going back to your original world and get rewarded for your assistance, or stay back, but have everything given to you by the system taken away (since allowing him to stay in this world is already his reward). That would have been some what better in my opinion. Finally the part that vexed me the most was how only the female leads remember him, and the flimsy reasoning behind it. Jin Sahyuk (hope I spelt it right) remember because she knew Hanjin's two egos, all well and good, the rest remember because they were investigating the Kwang oh incident, this hardly made sense but okay. The reason Rachel remembers is because of Evandel since they can't explain her existence with out Hajin, and she didn't know about the incident, once again all well and good. But the problem is a whole host of people should have remembered Hajin for these reasons, and they never indicated that a lot of them did. I'm not going to bother going over who should and shouldn't remember Hajin since they are many, but won't it have been easier to use Jin Sahyuk's reality manipulation abilities to make everyone important person remember over time 😑 just saying.

With these few points of mine I hope I've been able to convince you and not confuse you as to why I love this book so much but cannot give it more than a three-star. 😊😊😊😊 <<less

The first few chapters upto around chapter 150 or so were great. Then the author decided to chuck the plot and characters off a damn cliff. The story progressively starts getting worse with numerous plotholes and ruining an otherwise great character cast and world building.

Honestly at the end I was left bitter and disappointed cause of how this turned out.

Overall I rate this 2.9 stars rounded up to 3 cause this could have been a way better storyline but it didn't.

Starting from reading the manhwa, I had high expectations for this novel, and the first 150 or so chapters held up to those expectations. The major drama is interesting although the minor drama is not, and MC leaving the academy to become an assassin for the group he was wary of was cool and interesting. After that however, this novel takes a huge dive off a cliff.

Spoiler

The author starts a Tower Arc that lasts for around 100 chapters. That's right, more than 1/4th of this novel is dedicated to a single arc of everyone in the world trying to conquer a megadungeon. And while a few of my favorite moments happen in the tower, and it sets up the next arc before the Tower arc is really finished, it really wears out its welcome. Around 50 chapters in you start wondering when it’s gonna end and about 70 in you start begging for it. Misunderstandings are barely ever resolved and more add up constantly. Still, the novel dropped from like a 9/10 to a 6/10, and was still enjoyable due to the built up attachment to the characters. It then has an ok arc, and then a pretty good arc that brings it back up to a 7.5/10 or so. It then has one of the worst endings I have ever seen. MC saves the world with his buddies and meets his co-author, then has to choose between going back to the real world or the novel world. If he goes back to the real world, the novel world ends. But if he goes back to the novel world, he is no longer the author, and just loses everything he got for it, including all of his powers and relationships. So he goes back because he doesn’t want his new friends to un-exist and he’s not super attached to the real world by this point, and then bums around for a little because he’s depressed as hell at this outcome. His co-author gives back to him his most important items and his power to produce medicine with his body and he becomes a pharmacist. Then there's kind of an asspull and people who have some sort of connection with the person he replaced in the novel start to remember him, but people without can never remember him. So all the girls in his harem come back and remember him and he gets with his Boss who he loved. But his best bro Kim Suho is never gonna remember him and he’ll never have 95% of his powers back, and it's really just kinda a shitty outcome for him considering all the sh*t he put up with.

[collapse]

Like a 4/10 ending at best. I'll average out all these scores and give it a 3.5/5? But the ending was so sh*t I'll round that down. <<less

MC loses his memories in the end. All that world-building found family bs just for that. Ending was very anticlimactic and boring? This mf literally sacrificed himself for the whole world only to be forgotten and for some dumbahh reason too. Such a sloppy ending that made no sense whatsoever

[collapse]

Elaborating:

Spoiler

really unsatisfying and slightly sad ending. I was really looking for the ending because MC had a lot of secrets that would be fun to watch finally be unveiled for the side characters. The only thing that was revealed at the end was that he was the author of the novel, and only Jin Sahyuk, Baal, and bell knew. And the other characters memories were just wiped so Kim Suho also forgot. I was really looking forward to Suho's reaction. I was looking forward to the reaction to everything being revealed to everyone from when I first started to read this novel so it was really annoying to me. Also I absolutely hate endings where everyone forgets the protagonist at the end so the ending was even more frustrating to me. I really liked the characters in this novel so all their memories being wiped hurt lmfao, Yeonha, Boss, Rachel, Droon, Jain, Check Jungyeong, and Evandel were the only ones that remembered him in the end, I honestly don't care about the rest but what ABOUT KIM SUHO???! All those years of hardship and trials just for him to forget his good friend Kim Hajin. Literally if they included Kim Suho I would leave with a lighter heart but no. Give me back the mistletoe or whatever, you bastard scammer you never payed back the debt.

I give this a 3. 5 hahaha I am a sucker for Bland, boring, but happy endings. I hate the 'everyone forgets the protagonist trope' makes me want to strangle the author, so I am actually pretty generous with the 3. 5/5 sorry for the decimals since giving a three would make it seem very bad I added a 0. 5

It's interesting up to a point.

Anyways, my advice is don't read it, the start was indeed interesting but once it reach around chapter 200 there's a noticeable decline in quality. It's just like the author doesn't know how to move the plot forward.

If you've read the author other works, Monster who Level Up until the ending then I'll say that this novel ending just a smidgen better, just a tiny bit.

Oh and if you expect if the romance any good? I pity you.

I gave up reading this after a few chapter with the BOSS and it looks like I'm not the only one. Story was very good at first except that at some point, you were wondering where did the protagonist of the story (Kim Suho) went. It turned into MC and the women side characters with the male characters disappearing to the background. Every female character read like a potential love interest. The story has romance in it even though it comes late so the story needs to be tagged with... more>> romance so that people don't stray in reading this while looking for non-romance novels to read.

The story could have been so interesting if the MC stayed true to the title as an extra character who helped others to grow instead of stealing all the spotlights.

In summary, read until you get bored and drop. <<less
