Waking up, Kim Hajin finds himself in a familiar world but an unfamiliar body.

A world he created himself and a story he wrote, yet never finished.

He had become his novel’s extra, a filler character with no importance to the story.

The only clue to escaping is to stay close to the main storyline.

However, he soon finds out the world isn’t exactly identical to his creation.

This novel could have been great.

There is 5 major arcs at with some tiny arcs that gives some backstory and characterization

Spoiler

cube academy, chameleon troupe, tower, humonoid monster and the last arc

[collapse]

The novel started very story but until
Spoiler

the chamaleon troupe

[collapse]

Spoiler

a few time when they introduce some sort of new weapon and mechanic it always get forgotten, good example is the wire, and the ability to summon NPC from the sponsor world which when the demon merchant appeared. It's weird cause the wire was shown to deal massive damage, especially when the first usage by the MC, and the summon mechanic was through mention multiple time but never happened

[collapse]

Spoiler

The harem shouldn't be in this novel, while I know the novel is not really harem due to the situation with the MC. But the whole misunderstanding with being a husband, returner, and playboy. It feels the was the only way to make the harem exist. Yes, there is moment with MC and the girls that bonded, but it annoys me to no end with all theory and speculating just felt like it was unecessary. We have 5 girls = business girl, elementalist girl, swordsman's girl, boss, angry princess. There character is great especially boss, but the others seems to be forgotten at least when certain arcs started with make some character also a bit pointless until they were given a last minute of characterization. Like jonghuk with his grandfather ordeal

[collapse]

Spoiler

the misunderstanding also gets worse as it is constantly teases the MC should explained or confront but it took so long, this leds to some of the favorite characters such chae nayun into a very much unfortunate position where she doesnt have anyone at all at her side, yes she has her friends but that void where the love for MC was shattered by the MC action was never fixed until the truth revealed which took at least 150 chapters which is ridiculous, cause she keep meeting indirectly and unknowingly such as extra7 (which is a game name by the MC). Even after finding the truth, she doesnt text the MC right away, or when the MC had to agree a contract to a old guy, he still doesnt do it until convenience met her during the final battle.

[collapse]

Spoiler

the ending is bs, I get that the MC has to lose it's author title due to staying in the novel world, but the fact they just simply remove all his work seems a bit pointless, I know he received some of it back but still doesn't change that all the hard work that the MC did was erased alongside his existence. Yes, his existence disappear in everyone mind since he was an extra with 1 exception since she knows the truth of the MC and extra character identity.

They all got their memories with some character didn't as they have point in interaction with the extra in the og novel.

The MC ended with boss which is a blessing cause I think boss treat him better than all of the girls. It made me happy that the author at least choose the right girl. But alas the epilogue killed me, as it feels like uncessary cause it raise more question than finishing question. In my opinion stick with chapter 375, at least that one gives speculation based on your imagination

[collapse]

anyway, do I recommend this?

this is hard to thing to recommend cause like many reviewer says, the cube arc is fantastic, but the beyond that arc it went downhill as establish villain never appeared again from the cube, and making half of the cast forgettable and no personality till the last arc. I would just say that you should read it until cube arc, then decide whether you want to continue. Just dont read the epilogue

I was having high expectation after reading the webtoon so I went and found the novel to read.

But what people said about the fact "Hope high, fall hard".

Throughout the first 100 chapters the novel which doesn't have the tag harem, smell harem with bad body jokes, most of the event happens around him involves with a girl along with his crap personality, thinking, logic and ridiculous infinite abilities.

I'd heard people talked high about this novel, how it was so good and bla bla, I got the feel from the webtoon... more>> but after reading over 100 chapters make me doubt myself that I was too picky or people have such a low bar of standard.

I didn't really care about reading the release date and complete date of the novel but the author probably wrote it in a time when his brain only having "female and girls" swirling around. <<less

Started off amazing but about half way I think the author lost their way.

The power scaling was really weird, additionally there are so many powers that I think the author had a difficult time juggling all of those things and keeping track of them.

MC is okay, it's not like he's unique enough to leave a serious impression on you to the point you'll remember him months after reading. I also found the romantic subplot with him at the end of the novel really strange, considering he fell in love with... more>> a character that he wrote... Talk about writing the woman of your dreams.

Ending was pretty unique, specifically the part about the reason why he transferred into the world. Considering how big a spoiler it is, I won't describe it or expound further, you'll have to read it yourself to find out :P

3/5. Started off really amazing but slowly became a bit boring. A common theme with many novels. Author tried to make MC seem smart and unique but past a certain point he felt so boring. It's like all the things he achieved weren't from his own hard work and talent but from all the skills that he obtained by knowing where they'd be beforehand which really made him a dull person. <<less

The novel was quite good with some distinct plot and some fresh side characters. The pacing of the story was moderate with not too rushed or too slow. Mc's personality was likable due to his maturity and carefree, easy-going attitude. The author used a different approach to the story than to add some cliches to make it intriguing. The world-building was adequate. Side characters also have diverse personalities.

The best part of the story which l like is the interactions between boss (yi byul, main fml), Jin Sayuk, and MC. Yi... more>> Byul and Jin Sayuk were the characters that I liked most in the novel. More than MC himself.

Spoiler

Yi Byul's whole life was revenge-driven. All past events in her life were sad and full of suffering before meeting MC. Revenge was the only thing she had in her mind and to have her revenge she does many cruel things which define her character. One such thing was to recruit MC because of his unique power. Alas, the author showed us a plot twist that all her suffering was caused by her own most beloved, whose revenge she wanted to have, and the reason behind it was to make her perfect weapon for killing. Her whole life she only thought of revenge so she was a socially awkward person so she doesn't know how to express her feelings to other people. Due to this her moments with MC were cute and satisfying for me.

Jin Sayuk's character development was also the best part for me of the story. Jin Sayuk's character starts with the arrogant king with no traits to become king. She was selfish, arrogant, apathetic, and a failure of a king. Throughout the novel, she suffers endless at the hands of MC, and with each defeat and suffering, she develops her character and changes her attitude towards others. Her position in the novel was unique, so the way the author developed her was far more satisfying than making her a cliche character. All her dialogues with others were delightful and made me like her more. She got the best ending of all characters which was to become a competent and charismatic king who works for his or her people.

[collapse]

For me, the dull part of the novel was its excessive drama between MC and chae nayun (one of the main fml).

Spoiler

MC kills Chae Nayun's brother due to certain reasons. The whole incident should have ended if either of them talked about it nicely but no MC has to kill him secretly and after somehow nayun finds it he runs away creating love-hate drama. Both characters were likable and I personally liked them quite a bit; their relationship also progress smoothly that they have been a fine couple but, the author has to add drama and it ruined their unique relationship and also adds unnecessary chapters.

In the end, the author similarly generates useless drama. Everyone forgets about mc's deeds against the final boss, no they forget about his whole existence. That drama was forcefully and dull. After reading the whole novel and enjoying it you find an unpleasant and unnecessary arc at the end which ruins your whole reading joy. Instead of such useless drama author should have just ended the story with a happy ending

[collapse]

In short, the story was very much likable and enjoyable with some ups and downs. I would recommend not to read it binge or you will get bored. Read it at intervals or according to arcs. <<less

TLDR, if you enjoy k drama, or cheesy romance +misunderstanding in general, go for it, if you don't, or hate cheap romance, don't, you'll want to kill yourself.

Also, this thing is very much overrated. 3 stars at best

after c 124

3/5 star

Early chapters were filled with exposition dump, almost made me drop this thing, I keep reading and it somehow got lighter in the exposition dump but I found a new problem.

The character interaction, I can't quite put it in sentence, but the way the characters interact always grated on my nerve, I almost skimmed through every dialogue when it involved the girls, it was pointless, and the author ab*sed misunderstanding trope so much, that every convo with the girls always end with mis - assumption by the MC or the girl, and no effort by both side to analyze what they were talking about, despite how important it seemed to be, even if you were to ignore how nonsensical the misunderstanding was, the convo also had those cheesy high school romance vibe, or perhaps, K-drama. Honestly, with the way this thing was written, the author should better stop trying to push romance into it, a cardboard cutout emotionless MC is better, because I don't need to read the cringe romance that was probably scripted by the author from some k-drama

c 142,

1/5 star

I decided to read more, thinking it will improve.. But damn, am I watching some k drama or something, crying damsel, broken heels, love and hate, done very cheesily. Sigh, this novel has to be my nemesis or something, it makes me want to close the book and make me thought what kind of story I was expecting, certainly romance K-drama wasn't one of them.

c 153

3/5 star

I really can't stop reading something once I start (most of the time), even if it's horrible. The story became a bit better, the MC left the high school setting and decided to change affiliation, there were some intermittent k drama scene in between, but it wasn't too bad because it wasn't all long.

c 154, I'll put this on hold until I have nothing else to read, the cheesy romance is grating my nerve. <<less

One of the worse novel I have ever read. Not in the way that's it's a bad story, I can fully understand why peoples would love this novel, but to me the system destroyed the whole story. The system is by far the worse system I have ever seen until now. Everything the MC do give him stuffs and/or stats, as if that wasn't enough, very often the MC will also receive"lucky" extra stuffs or stats. And that's not all, the MC can also get everything he want, by spending... more>> the resource he have. Not enough resources? That's ok, the system will still give it, but just slightly worse that what the MC asked. Everything he receive is OP as f*ck, with the beginner stats he received he was able to max out luck. I love OP MC, but I really dislike when everything is handed to the MC with little to no effort from the MC. <<less

I've spent countless hours reading through every single chapter and have been patient only to get a slap in the face

Although it was enjoyable at first, it started being uninteresting after 150 chapters but I didn't mind, it was the ending that ruined it for me

Spoiler:

Spoiler

I felt it was unnecessary to make every single items / powers / relationships he made to be deleted/forgotten...

(Yes some of the characters remember him, but they seem pity him, not to mention the "talk" with Nayun didn't even have a proper conclusion which disappointed me as that was the only reason I got hooked)

The author could've left him keep his powers but noooo he decided to leave him in such a pathetic state like atleast give him more, im fine with him losing sharpshooter but atleast give him his other skills not only the medicine making bullsh*t power

So I'm sure you've already read this from other reviews but this novel's beginning was amazing in every way. Sadly the quality drops after time but I still read it through completely and I don't regret it even a tiny bit. Though it got worse I still enjoyed it the setting of the MC being the author but still being not aware of all things that were going on (I know that sounds strange but I guess that's because of my poor phrasing :D). The Powers he had and how... more>> he got them were quite unique and the first time I've ever read anything like that. The ending wasn't rlly good tbh. You were able to see that the author went out of steam midway quite clearly. Towards the end my motivation to complete it faded quite a bit so I had it on-hold for some time. I'm a little bit disappointed about the little information we get in the end but at least he ends up with best girl.

Spoiler

[With best girl I mean obviously Byul]

[collapse]

I advise you to read through the school arc and Tower of Wish arc and then decide if you want to continue or not. These two arcs are rlly amazing this is what most ppl agree with. They are even so good that some just quit after reading them and make their own ending afterwards. Since the ending from the author isn't that good this is a possible way to read it. However if you like the story a lot like I did try to complete it. I hope that my review helped since it is the first I ever made and Idk if it was any good haha. In any case I hope you enjoy reading the novel! ;) <<less

It's a good premise filled with interesting stories and characters. However the story outgrew the author in the last third, and it was obvious the author couldn't tie it up as well as how the story started. Nevertheless an enjoyable journey, hoping the author gets proper serialization and edits the story with better pacing.

It‘s been a long time that I completed this novel. I still can’t forget it - so I decided to write a recommendation.

After reading so many different novels where the protagonist travels into a novel - this one is quite different and is in my top 3 (regarding this topic).

Story progress is top! Romance, Comedy, Action is appropriate included! The writer makes sure to give us a insight of the Charakters life’s and how they become strong bit by bit. The ending is not rushed. And I’m happy with this... more>> ending!

I‘m not good with reviews- give it a shoot and u will know why I’m so fond of it! <<less

For me this novel is in a very bad love-hate situation. I can't stand how unfulfilling it ended, but at the same time I can't be mad at it since it wasn't bad and I actually enjoyed it.

Tl;dr (since it ended up as a rant) A recommended read, but expect to feel empty afterwards.

Anyways

As I was nearing the last translated chapter (main ending, haven't read side stories) I started realizing that the author will have no realistic way to wrap up the brilliantly set up plot points. Many amazing ideas... more>> just got completely scraped or ignored in the end.

Spoiler

The biggest unresolved plot point I can't ignore is Chae Nayun. The highlight of the whole novel for me was the whole dillema that MC had at the beggining arc, where he wanted to be hated by Nayun. But as the story continued their relationship started looking out for the better. Even though at this point the MC still only thought of the world as a novel so he didn't want to get invested in any one of the characters, even though the feelings Nayun had for him were very apparent. It also didn't help that he had to kill her brother. That whole point in the story ripped my heart apart. The guilt that MC felt when he did it. The complete despair Nayun felt when she first found out it was him. Absolutely brilliant set-up in my opinion. The whole novel after that even the smallest interaction between them felt like a godsend. And what did it all boil down to? The most uninteresting way I could have imagined it. The whole thing left me wanting for more. I would have looked past any and all plotholes just to see them actually resolve their feelings and possibly (and preferably) end up together. I even thought of trying to learn korean just so I could read the side stories since some say she uses the reggresion stone she got at the end and ends up with him in a parralel world.

[collapse]

The other glaring plot points which were not resovled also bug me, but the completly unfufilling way the author wraped up the mentioned one just does not sit well with me.

This novel had potential to be something great, but it got crushed by the sheer amount of things it prepared for itself but left unresolved and/or unexplained.

But despite all this I would still recommend it to people who are even slightly interested. <<less

My favorite novel at one point but it loses a lot of what made it so good in the latter parts of the story. The beautiful character developments, the wonderful world-building, the great sceneries and events depicted by the author at the beginning are overshadowed by its rushed writing, forced plot points, and lazy storytelling at the end makes this novel break my heart.

It was really good and I loved it but near the end, I dragged myself to finish it but I never really did.

Not too sure why there are so many 5 star reviews, I don't think it deserves this much.

The author, Kim Hajin is the author of a webnovel, but is basically on hiatus because of his sh*t writing. One day some dude emails him and ask if he can re-write his novel, and long story short he says yes and this causes him to be transmigrated as Kim Chundong (I think that's how it's written?), an "extra " at the YuuEi Hero Academy Cube, a hero/cadet training thing.

Now here's a few things that I'd like to nitpick about this novel, which may be wrong because I'm not actually good at paying attention at the small details.

  • Both Kim Chundong and Kim Hajin have basically little to no backstory at all. The most we find out about Kim Chundong is that he's an orphan, does some charity work and
    Spoiler

also got isekaied to the world where the original MC (Kim Suho) came from but there's not much important info here

    [collapse]
. And Kim Hajin has ZERO defining traits at all
  • Most characters are basically cardboard cut-outs. The protagonist Kim Hajin is overpowered as balls and thats it. Sure, some reviews here say he's not that strong at all, but he faces pretty much no difficulties at all in the whole book, due to all the skills he gets through the whole novel, which I think can be considered overpowered. He has no interesting traits and no characters growth and just gets stronger through the whole book. None of the other characters have any growth at all either. The main characters that Kim Hajin originally wrote don't play much of a part in the book. An example is Shin Jonghak. He's introduced in the first chapter as the rival to the supposed main character of the book, but gets side-lined as a generic bully characters to our "cool and awesome " Kim Hajin and that's it. That's him for most of the time he shows up.
  • Kim Hajin knows basically the whole book. Sure, the co-author changes some things here and there, but dude remains on top and it feels like this book is no different from the crappy vrmmo book that's Reincarnation of the Sword God (if you liked the Novel's Extra even after this review please don't read that book) Basically, I'm comparing it to the reincarnation genre where the main character basically remembers everything that happens to them in their past life, which is absolute bullsh*t if you ask me.
  • Filler, and lots of filler. A third of the book is a glorified school arc with more attack by bad guys than harry Potter gets through his whole series, another third is a tower and leveling arc that's similar to the Tutorial is Too Hard and Second Life Ranker that nobody asked for, and the last part is just him flexing his skills on bad guys.

I’ve been reading some reviews in other sites and I see a lot of low ratings and condemning the author for having shallow characters, plot holes, etc...

But seeing this readers have only read up to a few chapters they can’t really say that they truly understood the story. So they really shouldn’t roast the author until they have finished the whole novel.

I found this story enjoyable and different from the rest, although there were some parts that you had to slough through, I found the settings, characters, and the plot... more>> to be refreshing. The characters started out shallow and unoriginal but you can see that as the story progress the character development shows its true worth. The characters dvelop in way that makes them feel human, they are not perfect and we can see them develop, we can see their ups and downs and how they overcome it. The emotions they feel are realistic and makes you think that this might really be how a real human might feel.

The plot seems unoriginal at first but as time goes on we can see hidden depths, giving the reader a wonderful time, engrossing them within the world inside the novel.

Although there are some plot holes I can say that this novel was truly a wonderful experience. <<less

Exceptional. That's the only way to describe this novel.

Right from the beginning to the very end you'd never get bored, the author never lets your curiosity die.

The conversations are so damn well constructed. You'd probably never find such realistic conversations in a similar setting in any other Asian novels.

... more>> Like other Korean novels, I struggled to remember the names of the characters when they were pure Korean, but even so, I could still remember the main ones because there is real character development for more than just the MC.

The misunderstandings are fun, there is some gag manga like moments, but nothing annoying. The Korean nationalism and the general lack of knowledge on Christianity that we see in most Asian novels. But there is no racism or hate towards some particular nation or any religious group, something that we commonly see in some popular Chinese novels. <<less

I think that the first half of this web novel deserves five stars. But, as with most web novels it loses its steam as the story progresses. That being said, I definitely recommend reading it as many aspects of it are done very well. For example, it has strong side characters who are very well written and fleshed out, the stories background universe is interesting and has a lot of detailed elements, and the way the MC solves problems - like he's putting together a puzzle with his knowledge of... more>> events and limited skills.

The main problem for me, is that at a certain point the author kind of threw away all of his previous world building as random sh*t just started happening to drive the plot. Furthermore, as the MC got stronger, he started to have way to many insane miraculous skills that took away any suspense from the novel (not that there was much to start with). The MC also seemed to have very limited social skills and personality.

The ending is lackluster, but as they say its about the journey not the destination. All in all, read it and enjoy it for what it is, but don't expect a satisfying ending that ties everything together or makes sense. <<less

I really appreciate the early chapters of this novel. They were simply enjoyable to read and I starting with the Museum Arc the story and the characters really developed into a world I could see in front of my eyes.

I was not disappointed with the developments early in the story or with character growth and their interactions. However, as the novel drags on - despite being relatively short at 378 chapters for the entire story - you can really see the authors brilliance drawing thin. The ending to me was... more>> an utmost disaster, completely turning my happy feelings and jovial laughter as I read the first 200 chapters into disappointment.

I don't mean to sound harsh or to criticize to strongly but the author had everything he needed to reach a great ending and for whatever reason, he failed to do so. Instead he continued adding plot points even within the last 50 chapters that were completely pointless and would not even be discussed.

So, simply because this novel has a disappointing ending that I believe makes it not worthwhile to read the early chapters, even though they were so brilliant for me - I'm scoring this novel a 2/5 to keep future readers from wasting their time. <<less
