Right after getting the first-class chef’s certificate and before that certificate had been in her hands long enough to warm up, she woke up. Not only did she age ten years, she also gained two children…

At this time, her new daughter, who had lost two of her front baby teeth and spoke with a lisp, pointed at the TV screen and called out, “Dad!”

On the screen, the Film Emperor Meng Yan was extremely handsome and charming. Towards the camera, his gaze was overflowing with gentle and tender feelings. He raised up the hand that was holding hands with captivatingly beautiful bride. She was wearing a diamond-beaded wedding dress. At the bottom of the TV screen, the headline news was displayed in large font – Meng Yan and the rising starlet’s wedding of the century.

It focuses on family and the romance part just like passing. The story itself just flowing, light and fluffy, without any conflict whatsoever.

I like how Yiyi and Shanshan got their own happiness, but other than that, the ending of this novel is kinda rushed. But at least, not like other transmigration cannon fodder novel, the original FL seems like a good person.

Give high rating because I love reading I love reading about cooking and foods.

General: 7.5/10

A warm novel related to entertainment industry (although it is only a background for the sweet and funny story). A good read for a change of pace and calming down.

Translation: 9/10

... more>> A good quality translation.

Plot:

+warm story with happy ending

+karma without dog-blood drama

+focus on daily lives and situations more than action

+comedy

+well written characters

+quite good for an entertainment novel

+short, yet satisfactory

-sometimes just glosses over things

-could give more time for Lu Mingzhe and Lin Yuran

+/-very idealistic and a bit naive (well, it is a novel so I don't expect realism. I wish life was so kind to me ;)) <<less

This is one of the funniest 'i transmigrates into a book and now I'm a mom' I've read. The MC is very amusing and I thought she was written very well. Her relationship with her kids and the ML is also really good and felt natural and interesting. I like black belly ML so I was a little iffy about this one being so sweet and cheerful but I think he's a nice contrast, especially with his nephew and the MC's son, both of whom are more typical coldfaced characters.... more>> I highly recommend this novel if you want something sweet but not overly dramatic. <<less

loved it. My only complaint is the chapters are too short, around 650-850 words per chapter (put it through a word-counter). There are even space gaps between almost every sentence. I mean really? Even my college essays are at minimum a 1500 words. Great translation quality tho. Nice grammar ig

Was really fun, cute, feel good and wholesome for many chapters but seems to have lost a bit of steam in recent ones. Still recommended. The translation is very good :)

Cute and refreshing everyday love life between a (transmigrator) divorcee woman and a naive CEO of entertainment industry. Its just sweet and sweet. The story basically an everyday life of the two couple and their respective children. A happy end indeed. Enjoy!

Cute and funny story. I read the raws. Love the MC's mother. Also the part where the ML discovered the MC and her children rocking facial masks with animal designs was hilarious. Read to find out what animals each of them wore XD

Super cute. This is one that has been rotting on my reading list and only around now did I read it. It's a nice read, fairly light with cute main CP. The children are a funny and big part of the novel, and I enjoyed every bit of it with them.

The relationship between MC and ML flowed naturally and ML's characterization was a nice touch that I had a very difficult time visualizing his appearance hahahha. But it's a nice change to the domineering CEOs. Although he lacked a bit... more>> of backbone and had to rely on his little wingman nephew. Overall a cute novel! Love that ex husband didn't suddenly fall in love again with her. <<less

BEWARE of SPOILER

Spoiler

Lin Yiyi took over as the mother of the villain (Meng Yuran/Lin Yuran) and the canon fodder (Meng Shanshan / Lin Shanshan) in a novel. According to the original plot, her son, will fall in love with the female lead (Zhang Xirou) while her daughter, will fall in love with the male lead (Lu Mingzhe). As in every other story, the male and female lead will end happily ever after while the rest will fade into oblivion under cruel circumstances.

Lin Yiyi was married to a top actor (Meng Yan). She was obsessed with him and even after the divorce, she used every means possible to be with him, even at the expense of her two kids. Her ex-husband remarried a well-known and much younger actress (Zhang Xiying) and Zhang Xiroud happened to be Zhang Xiying's younger sister.

Lin Yiyi's passion was cooking and because the original Lin Yiyi had tons of money, Lin Yiyi decided to live a leisure life and at the same time, helped her two instant kids to avoid meeting both the leads.

The story was light and warm. More of a slice of life. The romance was slow as Lin Yiyi never wanted it in the first place. And the other reason because the guy pursuing her happened to be Lu Mingzhe's uncle.

The ML is cute but also annoying and childish... and sometimes he give me so much frustration 😩

I laughed at the FL because her original age was 24 and now she is ~34 when she transmigrated. 😂😂😂 she lost over 10 years of her life!

And the ex-husband Meng Yan is so s*upid he divorced his wife who loved him and abandoned his children for a woman who was after his fame...

The ending was a but rushed but it was a good ending

It's a scum-ex-op-husband novel.

The FL raises her two children and the ML has a nephew. I wanted to see a little more of the Fl's son and ML's nephew bonding but I guess girls are princesses and boys aren't sensitive in Chinese novels.

That's the only thing I am disappointed with tho, it's a great novel otherwise.

The family dynamics are very wholesome and the characters are very likeable. However the romance is barely even there. It is very slow in that regard. The main couple do not get together until perhaps the last 30 chapters and even then it is perhaps a little rushed.

The relationships within the family units however are sweet and entertaining to watch. It was satisfying to see the FL build herself up and the family to get closer.

I really did enjoy the novel but it was lackluster and slow when it came... more>> to the romance part. Not quite as satisfying of an ending as you would hope from a slow burn type story. <<less

A wholesome story with comedy, family dynamics and food p*rn.

(If you want a short summary, go to the last part of this review.)

I, both, love and hate the MC and ML's below than average EQ. It's hilarious, as both characters don't have a single romantic bone in their body. In fact, I find the story lacking in romance. The romance is a subplot rather than a main plot. How her reputation was whitewashed was kinda boring. You can't expect much direct face slaps. It's more like the battle... more>> of the internet.

MC is a great cook, hinting from her ability to receive a Chef's Certificate. She instantly had a son and daughter that are already a few years of age, so I can't say that is a great mother. She tries to be good to them, to which I can't label her a Mother. Rather, I can see her as more like a caretaker. I can't feel any motherly love from her interactions with the children. The reason why the children started liking her was mainly because she cooks for them and that the food she makes is very (illogically) delicious.

ML is a total foodie, for him, it might be food before romance. If I remember correctly, there was no confession from both ML and MC. Regarding romance, it is certainly lacking.
Spoiler

Their only date was to a movie, and their tickets were bought by his nephew (the original male protagonist) for them because he knows his uncle is unreliable. The original male protagonist turned into a wingman. XD

[collapse]

ML despite being single and is dense, he is actually family oriented. Instead of asking for dates, ML would ask for family outings like going to the amusement park, going fishing, and going abroad with the entire family.

The son is a clichéd one in my opinion. A tsundere, competitive and somewhat possessive. Well, he is the potential Villain.

I don't like the son much.

One reason is that I find him selfish and a bit inconsiderate. He wants all his mother's attention on him and his sister, and he doesn't want her to find her own happiness. MC wanted to start a restaurant because she had nothing else to do other than cook and drive the children to school. But he didn't want that and instead had her start streaming, which is less likely to make her busy.

Another reason is that he was highly against MC and ML's romance. Why? Because he is selfish. Although, he hasn't done anything to hinder their romance, but he should have been supportive. His grandmother has said his mother is still young, pretty and should find happiness, but he just doesn't agree with his mother finding another husband.

However, I can understand his selfishness. He is 13 years old, still a child. His mother is finally taking care of them instead of being obsessed with their father. He can finally experience what it's like to be cared for, to have a 'mother' and familial love. He is greedy for the love he finally obtained. Thus, he clings to the new-found affection from his mother.

His rivalry with the supposed male protagonist is an enjoyable twist from their original fate. You would come to love the original male protagonist. He's the typical cold, domineering CEO, but has the second-highest EQ besides the MC's mother among all the characters.

A chapter title from the novel:

Spoiler

They had been rivals their entire lives and would even compete with their grandchildren when they got old.

[collapse]

The daughter is an adorable little foodie. You can view her and the ML as true father and daughter, as they are both foodies. Their interactions are not awkward, rather ML is a true father figure to her.

Spoiler

In the original plot, she is supposed to have a crush on the original male protagonist and becomes an antagonist against the original female protagonist.

Instead, the original male protagonist becomes her brother (cousin-in- laws) and one of her biggest backers. She and the original male protagonist only have a brother-sister bond. The original male protagonist is also hungry for family affection because his parents died when he was young, with only an unreliable uncle as family. So he poured most of his affections into his new-found (*cough* stolen) sister.

[collapse]

I love MC's mother and stepfather. It actually seemed like her mother was a heroine in her youth to middle age. MC's mother is a badass, strong and independent woman. A legit Domineering CEO. The stepfather is one you call a hidden boss. He's gentle and tolerant but has a strong background which is not much shown in the story.

It's also unfortunate we don't get to have scenes of the MC's half brother. He only appeared in the end, but only mentioned and not shown. It was mentioned by the MC, he was like a Male Protagonist from another novel.

As for the ex-husband, well he got what he kinda deserves. He was an absentee father, therefore the children lack affection for him. The son, especially, harbored hostility towards him. After all, he not a good husband and father to them. His excuse is that his work schedule is too busy as an actor, yet he had the audacity to marry an actress. His new wife isn't much of an antagonist. She is just unlucky. Of course, she turned antagonistic in the end, but it's understandable. Receiving too much bad luck would cause anyone to get desperate.

Of course, you can't justify the fact that she dated a married man, let him get divorced and then marry him not even a year later. Even if the wife is terrible and cray cray, her actions still label her a homewrecker.

I rate this story 4 stars, it is a good read. The romance is lacking, though. I find the MC tolerable. My fav character is definitely the MC's mother, and then the original male protagonist after her. The biggest con is that both ML and MC are romantically dense. It should be balanced. However, I like that the author focused more on family than romance. There's nothing about that. The ending is a bit rushed. No extra stories, sad.

Would I read it again? No. <<less

I truly enjoy reading this comical novel. I really had a good kick out of it.

Love reading the relationship between Lin Yi Yi and her 2 adorable kids; between Lin Yi Yi and Lu Xun; and between Lin Yi Yi and her mom & stepdad. These 2 family members complement 1 another very well.

very refreshing story. I love how soft the ML is, like a soft breeze on a warm summer day. Too many domineering ceo types is a bit exhausting so seeing a puppy dog type is somewhat invigorating. I'm happy how the three children grew up. At first I was hoping for shanshan and zhe but staying as brother and sister is good too, besides there wasn't any hint of anything else (aside from when shanshan was young) once the romance between yiyi and lu started getting on track. A nice easy read. A very light novel with not much drama and not much character development but still cute and fluffy. Also not much romance between leads. In a way this novel feels like it's filled with filler chapters.

This novel is not for everyone. If you are looking for an exciting read you can skip this, however if you want to kill some time with a feel-good type of novel you may like this

The story is very funny and heartwarming, the interactions between MC and her children are so entertaining and adorable. My favorite character is Yuran by far, as expected of the original villain, and Shanshan was so effing cute.

I love that Lu Xun wasn't the ordinary domineering, possessive border-line yandere CEO, he was a goofy, carefree virg*n and it was very nice for a change.

Not a lot of drama, love that the ex's life was depressing at the end but because of his own actions and not part of revenge.

The last... more>> chapters were abrupt, and the ending was a bit frustrating and unsatisfactory, I would've like to read a spin off of Yuran and Mingzhe. <<less

Romance between FL and ML not much.

Wah, this is so good!

I usually loved a novel, until the children were put into the story. I hate the description of genius 3 year olds who can dress themselves and speak eloquently--URGH! My favorite titles that I hate due to the child (ren) are malicious empress of military lineage, a slight smile is something (sorry cant remember), and there are more that I dropped just because their depiction of kids are so impossible--yes I know I should turn off my brain, afterall the domineering CEO with 8 pack... more>> abs are also quite impossible, but I cant stop rolling my eyes at a 6 months old who can babble papa & mama, okay T_T

BUT THIS ONE IS SO GOOD?? The depiction of children are pretty accurate--the food descriptions are so yummy, and the romance is so real!?

So good, the face slapping is rather harsh but so real life. I think this really suits the JOSEI category--most of us older & more mature could enjoy this balanced story❤️

And the translators are great too! <<less

The story is great, I like how she didn't end up with her ex-husband. But I am disappointed that it ended so abruptly. Towards the latter part of the novel, it felt like I was just reading the summary. Things happened quite fast but I wanted to learn more about their life after the marriage. Like if there were any changes in the family dynamic. Although they already were acting like a family even before tying the knot, I wanted more details haha

While I love the banter and the interactions... more>> between MC's kids, ML and his nephew, it would've been better if the author got deeper into it. Idk like maybe showing how MC's son half-heartedly accepted their new stepdad or if he ever got along with his nephew.

Still, what I love about this is how the ML and MC's relationship developed over time as opposed to instantly liking each other. Instead of heart-racing moments, it was just full of them hanging out and being comfortable around each other, which makes sense now that I think about their ages.

All in all, it's a great read. I'm glad this was already translated completely before I read it instead of having read the MTL. Kudos to the translators ^^ <<less
