This is an ABSOLUTE GEM! The flow is super smooth with no particular dog blood drama. It has a major theme of powerful females with accommodating husbands going on which makes the interactions super cute. The main focus is on familial interactions and the romance is a bit abrupt (which is kinda cute for some odd reason). The main protagonist is super laid back with a go-with-the-flow personality. The male lead on the other hand is unlike the typical cold tyrannical CEO which is really refreshing. He is a simple... more>> minded, henpecked foodie who used his shameless and persistence to get the girl!

Read this for tsundere teens (and grandmother), foolish and shameless foodies, and a whole lot of cute family interactions! <<less

It was a very wholesome novel, and I really like the concept of the plot. However, it would've really nice if there was more depth to it.

It's still nice though, just a bit rushed. It's a good slice of life.

TL;DR : This is a very very slow romance novel where nothing much happens and conflict is mostly non existant. The story is mostly the FL making food for her children and having a good time.

The FL finds herself in the body of a woman with two children whose husband divorced her roughly a year ago. However, she is very rich and has a supportive family in the form of a fierce mother and a laid back stepfather. The hardest hurdle for her would be to fix her relationship with... more>> her somewhat neglected children, but this is achived in around 10 chapters.

The saddest part of this novel by far is the fact the original owner of the body has killed herself, but we aren't supposed to think about it. Her charcter isn't developed at all.

The romance here is not with the ex-husband but, unsurprisingly, with someone better. Yet, both this ML and our FL are extremely lacking in EQ and their progress is dreadfully slow. There is almost no romantic fluff here, since they barely get together by the end of the novel. This isn't the novel for that.

Also, if any form of realism is important to you in the plot, which barely exists anyway, then skip this as well. <<less

Transmigration novel is always one of my favorite genre. This is surely one of them. The highlight of this novel isn't MC but her adorable instant children. It's rare to have an older child as Meng Yuran (later Lin Yuran) in transmigration novel. Mostly, it will be a cute toddler or preschooler that behaved more mature than their actual age, so a 13 yo Meng Yuran's appearance was refreshing. Another highlight was MC's tigresss mother who was a bit tsundere but actually cared so much about MC. ML's character... more>> was also a bit different from typical domineering, cold, and aloof CEO. Well, he was actually like that in front his employees but in fact, he was a bit goofy, silly, and also slightly dense in the field of romance.

As for MC, she was just an okay character with not much memorable trait other than good at cooking. Although her character wasn't well developed, she wasn't unlikeable either but I dislike her a bit when:

  • She talked about poisoning the original ML, Lu Mingzhe, when she came to know his true identity. That time, he was just 13 yo for God's sake. I know she felt wary for the sake of her children but still, talking about poisoning a child was a bit cruel.
  • She suddenly opened an entertainment company when her speciality was at cooking. I didn't underestimate her but it's just that after she opened her company, he didn't focus much again in her restaurant. I know she did that for Meng Yuran but it was still far away in the future and even Meng Yuran wasn't necessarily interested in an entertainment company.

The ending was quite satisfying especially for Meng Yan:

I don't blame him for divorcing the original Lin Yiyi. Their relationship was toxic. He didn't have time to be a proper husband and was often too busy with his work. The original Lin Yiyi was also too obsessed with him and even neglected her own children.

What I hate about him was his neglect towards his own children. Although he didn't have much affection towards the original Lin Yiyi, his children were innocent. He didn't even bother telling his children about his divorce and made them felt abandoned.

In his old age, he finally regretted for not trying to mend his relationship with his children. Meng Yuran and Meng Shanshan changed their surname. They also didn't bother inviting him to their wedding. As for his daughter with Zhang Xiying, he wasn't close with her either (I womder why). For his regret, I actually agree with MC's thinking: he regretted it because he lost it but he might not appreciate it if they were still together because you didn't know what you got till it's gone.

As for the other character's ending, somehow I wish it will be different.

The original FL, Zhang Xirou, was a bit pitiful. She was supposed to be Lu Mingzhe's partner but because MC married Lu Mingzhe's uncle and her awkward status as Zhang Xiying's sister, she didn't get a chance to get close to Lu Mingzhe. It's a bit sad though because she didn't seem to be a bad person. She was just unlucky to be Meng Yan's sister in law.

Since Lu Mingzhe didn't end up with Zhang Xirou, I actually hope that he will end up with Meng Shanshan because who will treat Meng Shanshan better than Lu Mingzhe? Although they were related by MC's marriage, they were still just step cousin and wasn't related by blood.

So I didn't rate this novel in my review because I am feeling very complicated about this novel.... On one hand I liked this novel a lot but on the other hand I am dissatisfied with the romance part of the novel.

Actually here in the novel its quite clear that at first our MC wanted to stay away from ML after finding out that he is the uncle of the male lead of novel who will ruin her children's lives according to plot, but.... what happens is that her efforts of staying away from him are just too superficial. I get it that you like the ML a little bit plus your parents are trying to set you up with him but its not like they will kill you or something... if you really want to stay away then you can.... So I didn't like it....I wanted her to really try hard to stay away from him but unable to do so due to some genuine circumstances which clearly didn't happen in the novel....

Next the other thing which irritated me was that our MC clearly desired to be pursued properly by our ML... like how every other girl wants but she still let the ML do all sorts of annoying things instead of doing what she wants. She doesn't even hint at him or anything that she wants to be properly pursued. The ML want to pursue her but he behaves like a annoying friend only for example freeloading food, helping her sometimes, saying and doing annoying things etc...I didn't really see him doing anything romantic except for saying one or two corny sentences every 60-70 chapters out of 282.

It’s a good story but not to the point of MTL-ing it after being impatient to wait for the translation.

I think I’ll give 4.5/5 for the novel. It’s not perfect because of the rushed ending.

Here, we have two low EQ MCs. It’s very refreshing to read after so many power couple novels I’ve been reading.

I’ve been expecting lots of cliches here and been preparing myself for it but yea, this novel seems to be a little different to others.

At first I thought, Shanshan’s end game will be Lu Mingzhe coz that’s how plots ‘normally’ is nowadays. But yea, they only see each other as a siblings. Thanks the author for not letting Zhe and Shanshan fell in love with each other because If not damn it will be a such an obvious cliche.

Although its a refreshing novel it doesn’t change the fact that the ending was too rushed. Too abrupt. It’s like the author just write it down, make do and be done with it. It’s sooooooooo not satisfying.

This is a very cute read. Not too many scheming and hateful characters. MC is just trying to mend her relationship with her children, prevent them from a tragic future, and live her life doing things she enjoys. It just so happens that there is a silly ML, whose like a maiden, inserting himself into her life lol

At the beginning it was really enjoyable reading this, like her interactions with the kids and her cooking. I wish it had focused more on her doing her thing in the restaurant and her streaming, etc. But later she did this xinri (? Filming company.

A little disappointed it didn't go in the direction I wanted and it did have parts that weren't realistic in my opinion but I think every Chinese novel has this so I didn't think anything of it, just that at some point I didn't like it... more>> so much anymore, and like someone said I didn't get why or when the ML started pursuing the FL. Would have liked it more if they just stayed as friends or something and her full focus on the children and their growing.

Maybe I just liked Yuran and shanshan so much that the actions of the other characters seemed not worthy... Or something. All in all I laughed and liked some characters so I'll give it a 4/5 <<less

it is a good book but it did not really have a flow. Nothing happens and things just exist. You do not love or hate anyone in the book, kids are mostly used as props. After some point it just does not make sense to read further because you do not feel curiosity about anything. There is no character growth everyone stay the same and even regrets are not well defined.

Until 60-70 it’s cute and all but it just got really repetitive and meh.

The children are cute and all but lack development and repeat patterns constantly in their interactions which get boring as you go along.

The ML is different in a good way, he’s kind of an idiot which makes him unique and he’s really lame which makes him really cute.

... more>> I think he’s the only good thing about this novel (oh and grandma is good too)

Ex-husband is not scum, imo, he’s just not a great guy. He’s not good at expressing his feelings, he had an inferiority complex and he didn’t speak up for himself (as in oriFL clinging onto him and him disliking it) or for her (not protecting her when she was blackened) and he was a bad father (because he does not have any relationship with his children and suddenly after divorce he wants to be a father ugh). <<less

The MC is calm and has common sense, her interactions with other characters are so funny. This story is very soft and fluffy slice of life with lots of comedy. Though there is also a tiny little bit of face slapping. This novel also has the funniest male lead, I love how he doesn't act all high and mighty and cold in front of the MC. He is very straight forward and thinks with his stomach lolol. One of my favourite male leads for sure and he isn't overbearing ... more>>

I am really enjoying this so far. Nice refreshing story to pick up after reading one with twists and turns. Has comedy and is mostly focused on MC and her son as her CF daughter is still young to the point where I left off in the story. Nice flowing translation with very little typos. Nice <3

Started out strongly as a charming romance, but is diverging into a more slice-of-life story now. MC is strong and very good to 'her' kids but is a bit double standard... She hates the book-FL and doesn't want her daughter to interact with her on the basis that book-FL makes her daughter's life miserable, but she is totally fine with book-ML who is future-nemesis of her son to interact with him and is putting them all to be one big family! ML is sweet to MC, but is a bit... more>> childish to the kids, which makes for an interesting character. <<less

The story is very boring. I expected more face slapping, however, everything was about Mary Sue female lead who was all-so-good at cooking and business and her family. Domestic fluff, unfortunately, was tedious and repetitive.

I also don't think that original personage husband was a scum. Sometimes people marry incompatible person or marry too early or both together, they are too young to understand who they are and what they want in this period of life. Sure, he was a fault regarding lack of interest and care to his children, but... more>> I can understand how his wife's excessive love has exhausted him over the years.

Overall, cutting Mary Sue part and tedious domestic fluff and adding reasonable amount of drama would be able to improve the story. But right now it is boring. <<less

It started out ok, the fact that the MC transmigrated into a woman 10 years older and with two kids was interesting, the children were cute and even though the ML and MC only start having interactions half way through the novel it was interesting, at least the first half.

At one point it slowed down quite a lot, she wasn't as involved in cooking and there was more things about the entertainment circle but even that was quite superficial and everything was resolved smoothly so there wasn't much going on...

The... more>> more interesting parts were when the two families would get together and their interactions. The ML was really nice and even though at work he was the typical cold CEO at home he was just a smiley, fun and silly guy who like to tease mc's son and dot on mc's daughter and was a total foodie.

I liked the fact that there was no great villain just some annoying people once in a while but never too over the top.

I myself am quite poor so I couldn't quite connect with the main leads over the top spending in the second half of the novel, that was a lot. But even though I couldn't understand that kind of life they weren't obnoxious, so I didn't disliked them.

Overall it was an ok read. The first half was really good and the second half was really boring to me. <<less

The Main Lead Lu first appearance was so good, but then his character turn to opposite of his first impression appearance.
