Two families’ children were switched at birth. One of the families is a household that does business, and the other is a household of a marquis. There is a vast difference in status.

I had really high expectations coming from Who Cares? By the same writer which I really enjoyed. But I had to drop it, the plot seems ridiculous to me. I have to suspend my disbelief at every turn.

The crown princess’s babies that have multiple wet nurses, maids, and mamas somehow have things sticking out of their noses for however long with NO ONE NOTICING. None of these people who would be punished to death if these babies met any kind of harm, not one of them in charge of every part of the baby’s care notices. MC holds the baby for 1 second and points it out. It’s too much for me.

The horsewhip is cringe. The very s*xual descriptions of MCs prepubescent body, in the POV of her brother, is disturbing. The constant groping of MC by her brother, as she ages, is also disturbing. It is not comedy. There are no funny moments at all as far as I have read. If it was a dark twisted romance, maybe it would read better. As it stands, it is immature, uninteresting and not worth the time. I tried to finish it, but I can’t power through. Dropped. <<less

Merry Chritmas!

Best gift for any lover of "strong female lead in ancient china" novel. Even though Yu Xiang had been paralysed in both lives, she truly honed her character into a sharp mind and, mind you, sharp tongue. (Her verbal retaliations are superb.) And her openness to her relationship with Yu Pin Yan is the ultimate reward for this high-end couple.

Read this heart-warming story for your enjoyment!

This story was pretty fun to read and I'll agree wholeheartedly with a lot of other readers about the main complaint about not knowing what happened to her brother from her first life (or the monk who messed things up).

The FL is kind of a badass and doesn't really take crap from anyone. This is further highlighted by the fact that her fake brother has flat out stated that she can do whatever she wants as she saved his life. The Grandmother also eventually agrees. Now, the FL doesn't go... more>> out to make anyone's life difficult, she merely responds to when people try and walk over her.

It's also pretty clear early on that the ML in this has fallen hard for the FL and that he knows she's not his sister. From the first introduction, his affection is far different than a regular brother's affection and his thoughts quickly turn into some dirty thinking (mostly like how he wants to devour her and such). It's also made pretty clear that she's the only woman he can actually picture being in a relationship with.

Justifiable in the sense that he was nearly poisoned by a trusted maidservant and later tricked into going to a brothel where he was drugged and nearly r*ped by a woman with syphilis. Add in his mother who has checked out of being a parent and his dislike of women makes a whole lot of sense.

This is a typical story of swapped characters where one views the other as the one who stole their life. The antagonist (ori-FL) in this constantly thinks that everything the FL has should be hers but she only ever schemes against everyone and doesn't bother trying to be genuine.

She literally destroyed her adoptive family's lives before running away to leave her adoptive mother to die. All because they told her she was from a noble family and she believed she deserved better than them. She then tries to ruin her adoptive brother's reputation to prevent him from revealing who she is.

She's also dumb as a pile of bricks (actually that might be insulting to the bricks). She does everything in her power to trample down the FL but without the intelligence to understand the consequences of her actions. The only thing she does understand is that if she reveals the FL's true identity then it would also tarnish her reputation.

She does reveal it to the FL out of spite. But it doesn't matter because the ML has already been planning on revealing it so he could marry the FL. Outside that, the Ori-FL doesn't understand how to properly do the bookkeeping for a Marquis estate and also removes the rules the FL had in place to keep everyone working well together. This ends up with the Ori-FL poisoning her grandmother, the Crown Princess and the Ninth Princess (and some assorted noble women) because she started siphoning money from the household and let crappy workers do what they wanted.

All in All, it's not the best story out there but it was pretty fun to read. The FL's verbal beatdowns were a nice change from the gentle type of FLs and the ML is a well-written yandere who doesn't stray into the creepier side. <<less

If you're here for face slapping. You came to the right place. Author is so fond of face slapping that even the extras are full of face slapping.

If you're here for fluffy romance. Maybe you should go look for somewhere sweeter. Because of the sibling relationship, main characters interacted as siblings until later chapters near the end. And then they got married and the main story ended.

her twin bro in her last life. In the current life they find out they are not blood related but still grew up as siblings. So how can you see their 'love' (pukes) purely when you have all this info. Also we can excuse the guy (barely) cuz he doesn't have her prior knowledge, but she knows. SHE KNOWS!!!

Urgh! I just couldn't. Every time I'd read of their flirting I felt like a fly stuck in my throat. Can't spit, can't swallow. Yuk! Doesnt this just mean she had those thoughts about him even in the previous life?

Rating it a 5 among other novels of similar storyline.

I personally think that this is the best out of all the historical transmigration novels I've read so far. Some people might find the in*estuous dynamic icky, but I'd argue that the novel made it perfectly clear that it was the direction it was gonna go early on. That said, I pretty much just skimmed on most of the terribly written heavy petting and make out session or bedroom scenes. I'd say that those supposedly sultry scenes were the weak point... more>> of the novel. They just weren't good 😅. More on that later. The only reason I'm giving it a Relative 5 in spite of those secenes is because the novel has the best character treatments among any other novels of similar genre I've read.

Yu Xiang is such a good MC. Cunning, smart, blunt to a fault and steadfast, she wears her imperfections with confidence and pride. The novel had such a self-aware perception of her character. She's never made out to be the best in everything, which is how it almost always goes in novels like this. No exhaultation of her virtues or manners with countless comparison to jade or phoenix in this, no sirrr 😂. Nonetheless, you'll get served with the unescapable paragraph or two every now and then about her appearance to remind you of her beauty, but those are at the very least not repetitive and really only serves as a contrast to how the novel will mostly describe her terrible reputation and infamous temper.

That said, her fierceness isn't overbearing nor oppressive, rather she just doesn't bother to give face or curate a false image. She doesn't inspire loyalty from everyone, but nor is she hated by everyone. Most passerby characters treat her refreshingly realistically, that is, they have opinions on her character but don't revolve their lives around her. Girls her age ostracize her, but matriachs and elders admire her sensibility and skills, but don't nonsensically compare their kids to her or think of her as their own. She has a small group of powerful people she likes and values, and don't bother with anyone else unless they make themselves her business. She isn't needlessly cruel or scheming, her true weapon of choice is the unadulterated truth wrapped prettily in coveniently loud, vulgar language 😅. It's very fitting to describe her a hedgehog. She truly only reveals people's schemes with uncaring language and attitude and scolds people's duplicitous nature left and right without holding back. Most importantly, she stays true to her principles throughout the story without becoming like the scheming villains around her out of desire for petty revenge. She punishes traitorous servants, but she won't scheme for someone to be r*ped just because they're in her way like other MCs have in other novels.

Some people might have issues with how her disability is handled, but I'm pretty tolerant in that regard. She is healed and is able to walk again, but she never treats the change of circumstance like a fate-changing event. To her, being able to walk is just a fortunate convenience, her strength and self-worth don't depend on her ability to walk.

Initial canon fodder characters also have pretty good developments. The shu daughter later grows up and learns to be a good sister and becomes closer with her family. Even the ML's former engagement partner, while socially and politically ruined by the end, at the very least marries a commoner, makes a living, and admits her own faults in her mind.

The other characters are also charming. The Ninth Princess and Jiao Jiao are a joy to read, grandmother is loving to MC and ML, and biological bother is noble. Even the main imperial line are good and competent!

The only weak points are definitely the ML and the attempts at spicy scenes.. Which are detrimental to the ML's characterization, which is basically a fault that chases it's own tail. The ML after the time skip is definitely the doting yandere type which is obviously supposed to be dark sexy.. Only the way it's written just makes him out to be a good looking creep whose only saving point is that Yu Xiang loves him. That's right, you only really appreciate him through Yu Xiang's fierce loyalty and love for him, he can't really stand on his own 😩. We're obviously supposed to think he's hot, but Sir ML tried to smell Yu Xiang's period stain once, like NAURR ☠️☠️. His yandere creepy is just an inch away from being wierdo creepy, you wonder sometimes if the author even knows what a good yandere character is supposed to look like 😢. The "hot" scenes are just not IT. As much as the love and devotion between the pair is obvious, the s*xual chemistry is just nonexistent.

That said, my enjoyment of the novel's strong points FAR exceeds the awkwardness of its weak points, so I still give it a solid Relative™ 5. <<less

Author is certainly a noob in writing a novel. Although Shen Miao Qi is shown as unworthy and selfish character but if you delve into the story with clear mind, one will truly found flaws how the novel is portrayed. Yu Xiang is Shen's daughter that transmigrator knows knowing that her life trajectory is not so good, she start to hold the golden thigh i.e Yu Pin Yan, which was a wise decision as nobody would love to be wasted. But eventually reader could easily find that she is same... more>> as the villain portrayed by the author i.e Shen Miao Qi.

A transmigrator who had lived 25 years in modern era doesn't know the basic difference between gender? You got to be kidding me or can we say a wealthy daughter of modern world is noble but illiterate who doesn't know anything? Point is Female protagonist is shrewd and seduces her brother patiently but perfectly engraving herself into his heart.

Another aspect of the novel is that the story is filled with lot of superstition believes where each character fate is decided by the divination of a monk. If it really is what the belief says then look clearly transmigrator is definately stealing the luck of villain bcz after she transmigrated, she started to use the tactics according to plot to make everything favorable towards her before that everything was fine, but we can also cannot oblivigrate the villain's deed that shows her selfish desires which makes her nothing but a laughing joke.

As for the male protagonist, he is strong and obviously wise but it is really a shame to say that he is s*upid in terms of understanding emotional intelligence when it comes to heroine. Firstly he found warmth in heroine which he has never found in her mother and burden of entire family has on his shoulder so he overwhelmed with the care showed by her 'sister' with added guilt of her broken legs.

Then he disregarded his responsibilities to find her biological sister by casually searching and taking a whole four years which perfectly used by author to sculpt the original heroine i.e Shen Miao Qi to become a bad person and pave the way for Yu Xiang's bright future with some interference of a (villain) Miao Qi which will highlight the heroine (Miao Qi). Back to the hero, Seduced by her sister, hero who was living in an ancient era and still not knows how to keep a certain distance with heroine is quite laughable.

To sum up all, author has done a poor work in reasoning with each 'innocent' action of hers and making the hero looks quite s*upid which does not make him fit with the word 'intelligent'. <<less

I like that the FL is pretty moral, and while she has an abrasive personality, she doesn’t go out of her way to hurt anyone. I also appreciate when characters are given a chance to redeem themselves. It’s clear that those who end badly are put in that situation because of their persistent bad actions. I enjoyed the novel! I understand the reviewers that are put off by the the lowkey in*estuous vibes tho. “Technically, ” it’s not in*est but still

I still rant abt this novel every once in awhile to my friends and its been years since I finished it.

as I was writing this review I realized that my stomach was cramping rlly bad. If transmigration is real and I get isekaied into this universe, I will be noping myself out because I wouldnt even want to try.

i didnt find anything in this novel particularly well done too, even not considering the gross stuff. I guess that's why I finished it: I kept trying to see why everyone else was raving abt it. I didn't find it tho. Save urself some time, and read another novel. Give this one a skip. No hate to the translator tho, just the novel and its characters. <<less

It was a clash between a beautiful, sharp-tongued FL and a very doting, sweet husband ML.

Sadly all that pampering attention is given solely to the FL, the rest of the people are treated cold heartedly by the ML, aside from the grandma ofc.

Satisfying face slapping as always from this author. Also the build up of romantic tension was good.

You'll not think about their love as something morally or ethically wrong as they're already aware that they're not blood related siblings at a young age. The FL is already an adult... more>> when she transmigrated into the story and she's aware that she isn't the real daughter, hence her willingness to fall in love with the ML. Also it was more of a romantic development that happened over the course of 5-6 years.

However, their relationship really made me uncomfortable. I can normally read stories where siblings not related by blood fall in love but not this one. When the FL and ML showed PDA, I felt embarrassment and when the ML was convincing the FL to get into a relationship with him, I didn't want the FL to agree.

I understand that the ML never regarded her as a biological sibling but the FL definitely took him as a big brother. So how could she agree? She said that she 'doesn't distinguish between romantic and platonic love' but I still felt that the change in relationship was too abrupt. I also suspect that the ML was the reincarnation of the FL's twin in her original life, so it is actually in*est to me.

Overall, I liked the story but not the ML and FL's relationship. I don't understand how they fell in love and in my opinion, the FL's feelings were more of dependency and obsession. <<less

The story was quite refreshing and to my greatest pleasure, the story was not repetitive.

I was expecting the villain to continuously re-appear with similar tactics in their attempts to drag the FL /ML down but in this novel, each dramatic scenario is unique enough to keep the suspense going.

I love this story ❤️❤️...

At first, I didn't like the FL that much! However, as I got into the story more and more, I knew the FL will be one of the best FL characters I have ever read...💓💓💓.

Some people might find the love between ML and FL a bit too much. But the love between the ML and FL is one of the reasons I love this story very much.

Thanks so much translators!! Job well done.

I enjoyed reading this novel, especially because most of the characters are intelligent. They never fell for shallow scheming and have broad mindsets. They put trust and logic, that manages them to be more flexible and replace few conservative ethics instead.

how the siblings ended marrying each other, in ancient times this would not be accepted even though they're later known to be un blood related. And thebfact that the Emperor decreed this can label the dynasty to be an in*est supporting one, even though the Emperor is on his brink of death. Also the fact that the family dotted the MC over the real blood sibling (antagonist), in ancient times blood is thicker than anything and considered sacred. So they will not be too hostile to her even before meeting her. Their reaction and affection should somehow be similar to the real step brother (from Shen family) towards the MC

Unlike most novels with under creative authors that pushed plot full of misunderstanding dramas, this novel was still able to keep me on my toes by offering a heartwarming tales of love and trust of the family. AND the overwhelming lust affections between the siblings.

I guess this is my only complain: throughout the novel, the author teased us with many s*xual interactions between the two, yet until the end we never read a smut. I'm aware that the tag is not smut, but honestly with the amount of those s*xual teasing.. <<less

Awesome. The yandere is not really a yandere. He openly pampers his ‘sister’ (whom he knows is not his sister from the get-go.) He is also openly bloody and vicious.

The sister is not a ‘wait to be pampered’ woman. She does what she needs to to protect her love and her family. Every vicious woman needs a loyal man hahaha.

The flaw in this can be the villain is a bit brain dead to showcase the OPness of the couple. And that we didn’t get to see the real development of... more>> Princess Nine and FL’s real brother. That would have been a sweet story to read because Princess Nine is so adorable and ditzy. <<less

  • My fat fingers accidentally clicked 2 stars and I didn't notice until I posted the review. Didn't mean to include any star rating.
What feels illegal but it isn't? Reading the interaction between Shen Xiang and Yu Pin Yan.

The earlier chapters features a very moving and adorable chemistry between two "siblings" but later on, I was a bit grossed out with Yu Pin Yan's actions (Ex. Ear thing). It was still not crossing the line for me so I still continued to read it plus it's still a bit nice... more>> watching the betrayals unfold.

Shen Xiang is not your typical transmigrated female character, she would not deny the circumstances she found herself on but would instead belong to the people who scheme to have a good life. She did not have any hopes that she would get to stay in the Yu Family, however, she also did not just accept grievances. She is strong and does not let anyone to step on those who she cares about. Everyone can talk bad but in the end, she will be the one last one standing while laughing. She was not impulsive either, while she found that her love exceeds that of a sister to Yu Pin Yan, she did not accept it immediately. She did not let her feeling cloud her rationale- she left a plan for herself (although it was not necessary since the love of Yu Pin Yan could not go to another woman). She's mean, eccentric and brash. Her straighforwardness makes one blush!

Yu Pin Yan- okay I want to say that he started great. He was very meticulous, principled, and decisive. He doted a lot on Shen Xiang because of the reason of being "saved" by her and getting crippled due to the event. He also did not forget to give respect to his grandmother- he became strong but he adhered to the filial piety (except when it comes to marriage with Shen Xiang). It was very cute how he treats Shen Xiang special but man- this person has his moments where he's kind of gross! Really- I was eating while reading when I cane across the ear thing. Bruh- please draw a line! Also- could you please not make a move with a minor? Readers knows that Shen Xiang is older than she looks but the male lead do not. Honestly, this man.

This couple is a sea of vinegar.

Yu Miao Qi is scheming. I would be very biased if I say she's brain dead considering the Yu Family let her get away a lot of times. (You could sever relationships, why not earlier? Pah! Filial piety smh.) She's like a mosquito. Okay I just want to address this particular detail. Someone got into an argument saying if this person was the main character we won't mind her doings. No, you are wrong. She did not simply schemed against her transgressors. SHE FREAKING ABANDONED HER BROTHER WHO SOLD HIMSELF AWAY TO WORK FOR HER AND THEIR MOTHER BUT WHAT DID SHE DO? SHE STOLE THE LIFE SAVINGS OF THE SHENS AND DROVE HER ADOPTIVE MOTHER TO HER EARLY DEATH! I don't care if she become the main character, this disgusting person I would not tolerate having a good ending! (She does not deserve what she got in the end tho, that's too much. Why is that for hated women that's always or more or less the ending. I found myself pursing my lips while frowning. Thankfully I'm near the end by this moment.) Spoiler alert: even in the end, she still did not learn her lesson to curb her greediness.

Old Madam Yu. You will hate her at the start but as you slowly see her changing her treatment to the main character. Somehow it makes your heart soften. She's not that bad- quite a softy to be honest. It is an admirable trait and at the same time, one of the things that made their predicament add up. She's loyal to her duties as a Matton of the Yu Family.
