The washed-up magician Zong Jiu transmigrated into a horror, infinite flow novel about a survival show, taking the place of the cannon fodder who died tragically in the first evaluation round. This show was very interesting. Out of the tens of thousands of people, only a hundred people could survive, and the c-position (strongest contender) could even get a universal wish ticket.

If it were someone else, they’d probably be scared to death.

No one expected that Zong Jiu was not only unafraid, but also caused a sensational stir, shamelessly showing off his tricks the whole way.

Once his tricks stopped, and his life could be considered safe and sound, he ended up in a rivalry with the novel’s big villain.

Today you try to get at me, tomorrow I’ll get you back, back and forth, it’s pretty fun, heh.

As a result, though it was just playing around, one time they got carried away and really did end up sleeping together. Watching the nemesis who was pressing him to the ground, Zong Jiu lazily lifted his gaze. “If you want to kill me then kill me, don’t speak nonsense.” Even when at a disadvantage, he showed no trace of fear, and actually continued to provoke him.

That person used his ice-cold finger to trace his ear, and the action heading toward the aorta suddenly stopped.

“What a pity. I’ve changed my mind.”

He was once very willing to personally give Zong Jiu death. Every day, he used to regret not gouging out his flesh, personally snapping his neck. But after this person fell into his hands, another, more urgent desire grew like weeds.

Compared to winning or losing, he would rather see him crying and panting, with eyes red, begging for mercy.

It's so good!!! The ending and the extra is definitely satisfying. I read plenty of infinite flow novels before this but this one has the best ending so far 💕

The author is seriously obsessed with describing MC's transcend beauty LoL. I wish there's more extra chapters, but the conclusions is quite satisfying anyway. MC & ML relationship is unconventional, they wish to kill each other at first. After all, MC is an unemotional man and ML is the devil born from human malice, their relationship is volatile and intense. Even after ML realize his feeling, MC is still the unemotional man he was. I was really afraid that this story will be a tragedy, but thankfully it's a happy... more>> ending! MC & ML really made for each other. Their soul fits. That said, don't expect romance, at least before the last arc *sweat*. <<less

SO FREAKING GOOD! The story is very different from other stories so it’s really refreshing. I love how exciting the plot is, how strong and intelligent the MC is, the enemies to lover plot, and everything else. Amazing

Pretty enjoyable, although somewhat cliche. I read the translated chapters and then MTL'd it. The romance doesn't happen until deep in, but the main characters are pretty entwined.

I kind of wanted to see more magician tricks beyond card tricks and sleight of hand. As it is, it's mostly leadership (not entirely great leadership either) and figuring the answers of the copy.

I think the most amusing one was the Crazy Circus copy because of what happens there, haha! And a bit of relationship development. 😂 My secondary favorite is probably background... more>> reveal of the ML. 🥺 MC doesn't rely heavily on the ML, and generally makes it a point not to. The only time ML does blatantly solves the copy is towards the last ones. <<less

I unexpectedly fell in love with this novel. The whole plot is consistent and the characters are great. There is also great character development and unexpected plot twists. The ending was also satisfying and the extras make the novel even better.

What can I say? I didn't expect less from a novel chosed by the chrysanthemum garden group. They have a lot of shounen-ai/yaoi+Horror+infinity loop novel that are extremely good and this one didn't disappointed.

I absolutely love the interactions between the MC and ml, this rivalry is really hot AF, and I love how they try to frustrate each other. I like how the mission worlds story very much and the games issued by the system. I absolutely love how MC is a card magician (the las vegas trick ones type)... more>> and have the mentality to do a show while going through the worlds... he probably have some. lose screws that are similar to our dear ML who is a manipulator. I highly recommend this novel, is really good.

Also if you guys like this kind of novel I also recommend: I was born lucky, Supernatural actor movie app and I use poverty to sweep trough survival games. They also have a similar story like this one, they are also shounen-ai BL (just to let it clear for those who doesn't kind like this genre) but the interactions between the couple is not so hot or many. <<less

After binge reading the 20 ish chapters translated on CG, I MTL'd to chapter 119, and plan to keep MTLing til the end!

This type of IF novel with a ranking system is really interesting to me and the barrage feature that is really common in gaming or modern era novels is also present so this novel is right up my alley. Of course the MC and ML character descriptions are what drew me in and I love seeing their interactions.

Definitely recommend.

Couldn't help reading this even if it was tagged Shounen Ai, a magician in a horror game? That sounds like something I'd definitely read!

And I was pleasantly surprised, yes, the MC may have been a bit typical as he was overpowered, and described as to possess beauty greater than that of a Greek god— it was good!

During one chapter (actually the entire Las Vegas ones: c23-33)

There was a gambling scene and I had MTL'ed my way to it. It, was absolutely amazing! The writing seemed simple and well, it was actually but the way the scene was painted is just chefs kiss. I got the same adrenaline from gambling despite just reading about it. I don't know why, maybe the author managed to put some spiritual energy into the writing haha however, it was just wow!

[collapse]

I heard that there may be some gay moments in the future that I can't overlook; I'm just uncomfortable with kissing scenes n general, so I may drop it. Though, to those that don't mind, read! The writing is really awesome!

I don't think the horror was bad, some parts would make you a bit uncomfortable (and no more than that) though just enough to intake so anyone who may be worried about that is fine. To those who like horror, it also has a good kind of feel to it.

I'm not great at writing reviews so this may be pretty disorganised. <<less

The premise is interesting and yhe author deliver it well. Quite enjoyable with nice flow.

I love the characters, MC & ML have dark character but one leans toward good way and another is evil way. I need to remind you, ML is the evil. He is not yandere, he is not just insane but the whole evil incarnate. A villain through and through except when it is about MC at later stage.

MC also not a nice person. He lacks empathy but thanks for the his caretaker... he had good upbringing.

The... more>> story tied up nicely and I love the extras for more fun and relax times.

As for the con, there is some inconsistency that I cant overlook (hence the rate), such as the mental quality of another high players that doesnt seem to be as players that had gone through many game. Or the story where suddenly become a positive moral among some players... and some sacrifice of the minor players that happen so sudden that it seems out of place. And as a reader, I cant put empathy with them.

These cons are too distinct for me maybe because the writing is good at another places...

Another con (but this one is personal dislike hence it didnt affect my rate), is the part where ML controls few S-players. I love the characters and that aspect is very important for me. And when the author put some interesting character but then stated that they are under ML's control like puppet, that put down alot of my appeal. Why not just write them as ML or ML's part like something that happen alot in transmigrations story 🙄

Well at least, this author interest me enough to check out her jjwxc. And... yes. There are some interesting story summary that hooked me. Sadly, the author hasnt started to write them, but I have noted down them. My recommendation is for you to check them out. <<less

Plot Quality: 4/5

Entertainment Value: 5/5

Excellent story. A true enemies-to-lovers BL. The MC and ML are two sides of the same coin. They're indifferent to the world and their only focus is their own amusement. Their difference lies on how they derive that amusement.

Spoiler

The Devil (ML), born from malice, is interested by the darkness of human nature. He loves making trouble in the horror instances in order to reveal the hypocrisy, selfishness, and cruelty of the players. On the other hand, the Magician (MC) spends the latter arcs helping other trainees. He sees the suffering of people as unnecessary, so he's irritated when others suffer unfairly. He's not motivated by kindness or a sense of justice, but rather by a selfish desire to stop feeling bad because the people he promised to save end up dying.

[collapse]

Neither the ML nor the MC understand what love is. Some reviewers doubt they really love each other since they don't act the way conventional couples do. However, their actions reveal the real contents of their heart. The only people who can move the MC and ML are each other.

Spoiler

The ending highlights this. The ML, who can never bear to be on the losing side, actually gave up during the last instance. He was able to complete his task during the first day they entered that world, but he refused to accept his victory. Instead, he spent an entire year with the MC. When the MC finally cleared his task, the ML chose to gave him his victory so that the MC could win the Universal Wish Ticket.

Through this ticket, the MC could wish for anything as long as it's within the system's power. The ML knew that if the MC wished for the Infinite Loop to be destroyed, he would be destroyed along with it. Yet, he still chose to trust the MC and give the MC power over his life and death.

Meanwhile, the MC, who also can never bear to lose, actually chose to stay with the ML. His wish was for everyone in the Infinite Loop, including those who have died, to be given the option to leave. They CP turned the Infinite Loop into a game to give past players a chance to regain their memories if they so wished. Through this game, those who have died in the Infinite Loop could gather enough energy to return to the real world. Through all of this, the MC stayed with the ML. He even married him! He dragged the ML through instances, even sometimes returning to the real world so they could travel around, because he genuinely loved the ML and wanted to have interesting experiences with him. He won't say words of love since he's not that kind of person, but his actions more than reveal the deep love he holds for ML!

[collapse]

The MC and the ML are really alike, possibly due to their upbringing.

Spoiler

The ML was originally raised to be sacrifice who saves humanity by absorbing the malice of the world. His caretaker tried to save him, but eventually gave him up since the Church threatened to kill the 20+ other children she took care of. There was a problems during the ceremony: only fire could kill malice, so the Church set the ML on fire after he absorbed the malice of the world. However, the ML was born with two powers: 1) The ability to absorb malice; and 2) Resistance to fire. Since he couldn't be burned, the malice stayed in his body. He was eventually reborn into a new being, someone made purely of the world's malice. He ended up destroying his world and coming to the Infinite Loop.

Meanwhile, the MC was an orphan. He was born without emotions and didn't understand why people acted the way they did. He was raised by a kind nun, who advised him that since he couldn't understand social rules, he should just observe how others acted and emulate them. I won't comment on whether this is good advice or not, but because of this, the MC chose to reign himself in. He set rules for himself, such as never doing harm by children (this comes to play during one of the last arcs, where the ML reverted to his 6-year-old self. The MC had many opportunities to kill him but chose not to, partly because of his personal rule and partly because he was starting to like the ML).

The MC found interest in magic, but due to a car accident, his hands were ruined. He genuinely liked being in the Infinite Loop since it allowed him to heal his hands and he found the horror instances interesting.

[collapse]

All in all, this was a wonderful story. Both the instances and special events were interesting and unique. A lot of the supporting cast were fleshed-out, especially the other people in the Top 10 of the Infinite Flow. There are some flaws in the plot, but I'm still giving this 5 Stars since it's genuinely one of the best Infinite Flow stories out there. <<less

4.5/5 rounded up

This was a lot better than I expected! At first it felt like a worse version of “God of a Horror game” (flirt/fighting with the final boss), but they diverged pretty quickly into its own unique concept and got better as it went. I kind of see the similarity to “This Damned Thirst for Survival” but only in the relationship dynamic of being genuine enemies to lovers-with-hostility. Sorry to keep comparing with other novels, but I saw some other reviews and as someone who also read those ones... more>> I still really enjoyed this.

In terms of scariness/horror, this one falls in the more vanilla range. I’m pretty desensitized from reading so many infinite flow horror novels so take my review with a grain of salt. The first two instances weren’t anything I hadn’t seen before, but the rest were pretty unique so kudos. Honestly I was more interested in the interactions between the MC/ML and the events between instances, since that’s where the MC’s talents got to shine.

I also liked how there was some backstory into the overall universe and effort put into tying up loose ends. You’d think this would be a given but you’d be surprised.

Overall, this is an above-average read that isn’t too short or too long. I only give 5 stars to novels that make me cry hence the 4.5/5, but I didn’t want to bring the rating down because it did make me laugh and I’d recommend. <<less

The reviews have covered pretty much all I would say, but this is one of the most satisfying- emotionally, intellectually, plot, whatever- novels I've read in a while. It is NOT fluffy- but for a novel that slots well into the horror genre, its thrilling, gory, and not that scary. But by the end I still felt like I went through a whole horror themed roller coaster and survived- the sheer relief and satisfaction.

Loved the characters so much and beautiful balance between MC/ML, plot and characterization, philosophy and fantasy, pacing,... more>> everything. Don't jump in for the romance, enemies to lovers isn't a joke, but I don't think I've read a novel w/ s*xual tension so palpable that I felt like I was watching a movie- and even then there's no real romance yet. Even still, MC and ML are perfect for each other, like with all the other emotional settings: it's fun, thrilling, sad, heartwarming, and hilarious- and at the end of the day, satisfying. If this is your cup of tea, hop on and enjoy :) <<less

I really liked this one. But, it did have some issues. The largest issue in my opinion is the lacking explanation of how the whole infinite loop works.

There were several important things that I didn't understand until much later in the book. And this wasn't because it was set up all mysteriously like those books where you gradually figure out the world building as you go along. No, it was due to the poor or non existent explanations. A great example of this is the fact that I didn't even... more>> realize that the thriller trainee competition and the infinite loop were actually completely separate things until much later. Or the fact that I had no idea who the livestream audience was.

Personally, I have trouble fully enjoying a book when I'm still trying to figure out the basic concepts of it. There was a lot of focus on the slightly flowery descriptions and less focus on proving the reader a deeper understanding of the world building. Through context clues, I was eventually able to understand, but I felt like it needed to be clearer to the reader from the start.

Now, the things I liked. The story was very engaging. I felt many emotions while reading it, mostly nervous and excited. It was also quite funny, and I laughed a lot. As for the writing, even if the language was flowery, the descriptions were very vivid. It wasn't difficult to imagine the settings.

One of my favorite things was the characters. I felt that all the characters were very well written and even side characters had very strong personalities. There was even a part of the story where a character that wasn't really mentioned before sacrificed themselves, and it was very emotional. Which for a previously unimportant character, that is a significant accomplishment in my opinion.

So overall, I'm a fan. I liked it enough that I could ignore the flaws, and I'm very glad I read it. <<less

Now this is what I call 'enemies-to-lovers'—just the right amount of killing intent, chemistry, pitting each other, and loving each other. Thriller Trainee is a fun unlimited-flow novel with interesting instances and interesting characters.

I won't talk about the plot much, leaving that for you to find out, but I will talk about the main characters. on chapter 196

Omg so good so far. I love how the MC is strong and actually has a personality even tho they are the supreme beauty type.

... more>> Love the rivalry between the MC and ML and even tho the ML is the so called stronger character MC doesn't give a sh*t and will still battle it out with him and even wins multiple times.

True enemies rn can't wait till they become lovers. It's funny and engaging at the same time. Plus the side characters have personality too which is always a plus as sadly it doesn't always happen.

Only downside is the ML is toxic but honestly it's hard to blame?

Whew~ A true enemies to lovers!!!

Of course, due to the genre being infinite flow, some parts of the novel are a bit tropey but I love this genre so much, so it doesn’t bother me and the main pairing makes up for any tropes because they are so unhinged.

Won’t say more to avoid spoilers, but if you love enemies to lovers where they literally try to kill each other and infinite flow, this is the read for you!

This novel has an incredible plot, the principals mains have the intelligence and strength enough to make me feel all the novel excited for what it is going to happen. (Btw I read a lot of novel but never an enemy to lovers I thought it is going to be tedious and boring, but I was wrong, this novel is exciting. Other thing of course I knew for the first chapters what it is going to happen but suddenly the plot change, so feels good at the end)

The first... more>> 150 chapters are incredible, interesting and exciting but at the same time they are predicting I mean I loved it, but I know since the beginning what is going to happen like they fall in love, the MC is strong and smart, but there are other things, mmh cliches things.

The next chapters (it is supposed they are the climax but since the beginning feels like more the climax) are good it's more focused in their story love and bla bla bla.

Conclusion:

Good plot

Decent characters

Couple main (my second favorite thing in the novel) are amazing

An interesting, excited and romantic with a good plot novel I recommend read it.

But of course it's not art. <<less

At the time of posting this, there are 175 chapters and I've officially caught up! Starting the hubby chasing arc now, let me review so far. I'm giving it 9/10

Honestly the last few chapters had me speechless lolol it's not even an exaggeration.. I had to pause my music, wipe my eyes and re-read the kissing scene, totally disregarding tsuchimikado's plight... Hahahaha

This novel is not focused too much on the horror aspect, as MC himself has it rather easy? If you're looking to be spooked, this ain't it, this ain't... more>> it. The plot revolves around two things: the backstory and clearance of the horror instances as MC progresses AND the MC and ml's rivalry.

In fact, I'm quite satisfied with the plot progression. We're always moving forward, always moving forward~ the system really never lets things quiet down! Not a single boring moment, hahaha

For the characters, I have a feeling that the writer knows on a personal level someone apathetic, to the point where MC is quite nicely fleshed out? Hoho, I love that part, I really do... As well, why do ML and MC have such good chemistry? MC is leading the "big scary Num1 boss" ML on a leash, twirling him around his finger, it's too funny...

Speaking of funny, I'm going to put this novel down as a comedy right now, it's really too funny. The supporting cast are hilarious too... Those little brothers following MC, it's too funny 😂

OVERALL great read loving it so far, also great translation, so if you see this completed definitely pick it up. <<less

This became my favorite danmei novel

I really love enemies to lovers and also wanted to try an infinite Flow danmei so here we are 🤣

The instances were really cool, also the special Events, I was never bored, not even for a second and I love all the arcs tbh. I you would ask me which part I would reread or enjoyed the most, I couldn't give you an answer besides that I would reread everything. And I mean that.

Characters: my absolute fav would be No.1 (idk I just love him... more>> so much 🤣🌹) the characters are all really cool and unique, you wont forget them because they are all special in their way and really cool

Also the tension between zong jiu and no.1 are absolutly amazing, I was laughing and smiling whenever they interacted. Exactly what ppl told me would happen because their tension and Fights are so insane I love these two sm

I only wished it would have been longer cuz oh boy do I miss them and I wanted to see even more of the rest of the characters but its an insanely good book. 🥰 10 / 10 definitely! And I'm def gonna reread it again <<less
