This is basically ''My Favorite Manly Husband'' but like, , , better written and more entertaining? I'm not even into ancient storylines but this made me feel interested in the ancient farming practices more than MFMH did.

Short Summary: Eldest Jiang dies and Jiang Zhen transmigrates in his place; realises that Eldest Jiang lived a miserable life so he separates from his shtty family and takes a wife. His wife is a ger, in this world there are 3 genders: Men, Women and Gers who are like men but who can... more>> get pregnant.

Our MC was a soldier in modern times so he takes many things by brute force which is honestly so entertaining. Watching him take things makes people think ''Wait is he crazy' but later everyone, including readers, realise that he actually only took what he deserved. He isn't too OP, he has many shortcomings but his fast rising actually makes sense.

I liked ML, Zhou Jinge, but istg he makes me angry with his insecurity. Yes, obviously I get why he's like that and it is understandable so I'm not holding it against him but I still go '':/'' whenever he feels like MC will leave him. So much so, I kinda started shipping MC with other people. (DW tho as MC doesn't look at anyone but ML). Like, Jinge, baby, it's been 100 chapters. Your tofu got eaten by Zhen regularly. Please stop getting nervous every time a ger approaches.

I've read 100 chapters in one sitting and it's currently my new fave. It's like a classic showbiz novel but with ancient themes lmao.

I should have rated this book 2 starts solely because of Shen Anxin's ending. What was the reason? The novel is superb but why? Even those 2 lemon stealing thots got relatively ok ending, why Shen Anxin ended up like that? Would still recommend btw and I'm not changing my rating but if I knew my Anxin didn't get a happy ending I wouldn't have rated it that high.

The narration is bland, but that's what made it easy to MTL so I'm not really complaining — but it could have been better.

Anyway, I loved Zhao Jinge's character development! He was really insecure and had low self-esteem at first, but Jiang Zhen is a good lover who makes him feel worthy and validated. They have a very healthy relationship.

I repeat. Healthy relationship.

I also love how everything is tied up neatly in the end. In most transmigration novels, the original owner of the body might as well have never existed... more>> at all — but here, Jiang Zhenwei gets his own rebirth and gets the good life he deserves.

it was different cause he was an ex special ops with PTSD so he's violent when needed and he doesnt really care much if he hurts those who hurt him. He's not the brightest type MC either. He might be smarter than others but when it comes to schemes, he's very useless.

I'm not here to rate or criticize this novel, so don't bother reading this review. I mainly want to remind my future self why I dropped this novel for the second time.

Yep, this is the second time I've read this novel. The first time, I read about 20 chapters or more, but now I barely made it through 8 chapters before dropping it. It's not because of the MC's violent personality, but because of the characters—specifically, the Jiang family that has appeared so far. I'm pretty sure, based on the... more>> pattern I've observed, that most of the characters will follow the familiar trope of: villains being brainless, s*upid, and hateful for no reason, while other characters exist solely to make the MC look good.

These characters only exist to fill the word count, cuz the author knows he/she can't write a story with only the MC and ML. Normally, I can ignore these kinds of characters because I'm used to them, but the "rising in ancient times starting from a small village" plotline is something I've seen so many times that it's not unique enough to overlook these flaws.

If you've read this far, you'd understand why I told you not to read this review—because it's mostly my assumptions, not facts based on what I've read. Anyway, other reviewers probably have much more to say, so read at your own risk. <<less

This is five stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I like how unpredictable it is for me, well maybe because this is the first time I read a farming Danmei that didn't go the usual route or what was always the side character said MC didn't act with commonly lol 😂

there are quite few reviewers who put their own judgement on. the character based on their 21st century beliefs which is so dumb. There's even one saying that MC is harming a civilian duh.. he is also a civilian being a special force was just... more>> his past life. Even though he was in special forces he is also human.... the Jiang family brought all the bad luck to them and push MC to the bottom, who wouldn't retaliate after two decades of ab*se the worst thing wass that it's their own blood. They treated OG MC and MC as a s*ave worst than a human. I didn't think that some readers here would still side with those hideous family even in real life not all are blessed with good parents and siblings and some like MC's family they were also treated as tr*sh even though they haven't done anything bad with them. I'm just at chapter 22 and will update this to see what those other low reviews said really true, because some reviews here are biased and judge not by the timeline of the characters but their own understanding 🙄🙄🙄🙄

I was wondering what those other reviewers saying about that Shen Anxin... when he appeared he really had a potential of a good merchant however that's all there is to him when he started to show his thoughts and actions he is not that an amazing of a character. He's that type of character who seemed to be capable because of how their background made them look like... but honestly he is just a weak white lotus who just wanted to rely on someone. But he is always thinking he was a ger and couldn't do anything but honestly there are characters who had the same situation with him but already toughened up. He is the head of the family so his heart must harden. He knew that MC is married but still harbor intentions towards him. But I just don't like MC casually just saving this beauties and make them fall for him. MC is being called straightforward but can't be straightly frank with his Wife so he can stop his wife from thinking negatively. I still put up with the weak minded of the ML because MC really loves him however what I'm tired of is MC not making clear that he would never love anyone else only MC but instead he just threatened him if you're like this and that" I won't like you anymore". Although saying in a cute way it doesn't help at all there's no security, and if I was ML I would be stressed out always.

I like it that Eldest Jiang also had his closure and a life he deserves. there was a ger who wholeheartedly like, chased and love him. And made me happy that MC and ML met in modern world too it has closure. <<less

The novel is great on this whole journey of MC establishing himself in this Ancient world, the extras are some of the best extras I read gave me full closure.

MCs love for ML is like a torrent endless flood, always so passionate and straight forward. ML has alot of insecurity and doubts in the beginning but he was slowly conquer by MC with his actions and feelings. They are the best couple.. It began from MC liking Mls looks then mutual bonding

World building took step by step, it was a... more>> joy to see how things developed. MC didn't just Modern day inventions, he use alot of strategies, he himself was a common man with fighting skills and used it to the best of his abilities to come up with ideas that suit his developments the most.

The food situation was always a big point in the novel. Really food was such a big deal for poor people back the. They use food as bargaining chip and exchanges for marriages etc and so on. Exchange chickens as bethortle gift, can't find meat to eat for a whole year. It feels so real

The constant faceslap of the s*um parent family was satisfying. MCs temper is to always act and not suffer grievances. I love that behaviour.

The last quarter of the novel took me by suprise but it was wasnt as rush as I thought, there was hints it was going in that direction ll along. The way it was handle was justified. I also like how they skip battle details just give us post battle summaries fast and efficient.

I really enjoyed this novel and hope to see more of future Ancient world building like this one <<less

The MC is the gong. I haven't read a novel where the MC is the gong in a looong time. Usually novels have the MC as the shou.

The MC was a gay military man. He is reincarnated in the body of a depressed boy who is basically ignored and shunned by his family. The original owner of the MCs body falls in the river and dies due to a fever since his family didn't take care of him. He was reached from the river by the shou and once the... more>> MC takes over the original body, the shou helps the MC recover by bringing him some food. The MC falls for the shou at first sight basically. He flirts with the shou, grows a business and marries the shou. They have a girl and then a boy (then a ger in the extras). The MC has an escort/bodyguard business that helps him become rich. In the end, the MC makes the shou the king of China (mainly an honorary position) while he becomes the prime minister and has the real power.

In the extras, the MC and shou die. The MC is back in his original body in the 21st century and the shou is reincarnated in the same world. The shou uses his knowledge of the past and makes a name for himself while searching for the MC everywhere. The shou finds the MC in an injured state and pays for his medical expenses. They both remember each other and get married one day after gay marriage is legalized.

The interactions between the MC and shou were really cute. I feel like this novel has a fair amount of plot and romance. So it isn't really overflowing with romance. <<less

Got fooled by great reviews, but when I read this novel is so bad, like really bad, the MC act like a gangster he bully every people in his village, punished almost everyone, arrogant, super OP, all the characters that I hate is in this MC, I can't believe so many people in love with this novel

I was not expecting to enjoy reading this so much (Rating and comments had my expectations bit lower). Well, I Usually read this kind of novel for the Romance, so it was pretty good and fascinating.

I really enjoyed this novel, especially the first half and the ending part with extra. The story was kinda down to earth (In a good way)....... until we jump to whole rule the country....... though it was too much and I kind of knew this typical sh*t might happen, I still did really... more>> enjoy the whole journey of MC from being a small poor village person to the ruling the country.

I also really liked how MC was not know it all kind of MC.

Usually MC Transmitted from modern world has knowledge of things that normal citizens would not usually have, unless they did research about it before or they work on profession related to that. But here, MC wasn't like that. He only has the basic knowledge that everyone of us have. Considering his past profession, it's bit normal for him to be good at fight and know about how to survive in wild as well as some basic medic skill. Also many of the things he introduced is in actual very basic things many of us know. Though he did invent lots of things too, but he just gave the basic idea and it was actually people there who made those things possible.... As for his business profession.... it depend on one capability rather than knowledge. If one had talent for that, anyone can be Businessman, Though we can see, he's not good with paper work.

Well this was good until the story went to ruling of country. This sh*t sound easy but it's not easy to govern a country. In this the author went over the top like others....... but I enjoyed it still.

I can see lot of people having problem with MC Character but I find him interesting. A unique MC that actually a baddie, selfish and shameless too who is good to those good to him. Worst to those bad to him. beat and threatened others if necessary........ I don't mind baddie MC once in a while, especially not when they treat their partner good (ps: he never beaten or threatened people who didn't disturbed him or cause trouble for him)

Also ML is so Fine AF. I really like manly uke/shou with big body. Our ML, a ger is actually just like man, handsome, manly, strong and dependable...... He is not only strong but hardworking too. He got soft personality and has inferior complex and insecurities and though I am not fan of this kind of Characters but I really like him because despite his inferior complexity he still stand with MC and is not willing to leave MC, unless MC leave him or abandoned him. He doesn't let his inferior complexity get him no matter how much of a good looking, talented and better than him, his love rivals are (Honestly feel annoying when one try to leave other due to their inferior complexity, though I can understand them too but it's still annoying). MC is so lucky to have ML as his wife and vice versa.

I really liked MC Journey and MC and ML romance even more. The romance is indeed very sweet plus the babies

Though this story has negative shits too and other things that might trigger some sensitive people, I don't mind since it didn't touch my bottom line but it does felt a bit dragged but at the end, It was satisfying, making me smile. Especially the ending is so satisfying and a really one of the best ending for me.

The eldest jiang finally had a happy Ending 😭😭. I was waiting for it. For him to be happy and find Love. It's rare to see authors write about OG soul and giving them happy ending. I am happy Eldest Jiang wasn't forgotten.

Also ML reincarnated into modern world and finding ML and connecting time loop........ I love it. Really one of the best satisfying ending.

Its a really good book for face slapping and business building.

However, I am dropping it because a side character was r*ped and it looks like they are being made the villain due to it.

shen axin gets r*ped and thinks the ML orchestrated it, he is then fed a bunch of lies about how awful the MC is. It looks like the author is using his trauma as an excuse to drive the plot forwards. I am disturbed and can't bare to read any further

it was fun read at first bc the way MC bulldoze to success was satisfying, some parts made me uncomfortable w the discrimination and power caste stuff, but eh I ignored it but then shen anxin arc came and I'm gonna drop this? I rlly hated this 🗿🗿🗿

im usually p tolerant of themes, but I hate unnecessary s*xual assault as plot point the most. Mu*der is OK, stealing is OK, cheating I hate but I can digest but I just feel so bad for shen anxin when he was introduced as a ger in an oppressive society that doesn't back down and fights for his right and place. Why? It's such a waste. I feel v bad that in the end he's just another victim to the plot's rotten system. I dont know if he will still get a deserved healing, or if he committed atrocious crime bc of his hate after, but I still, sigh, I feel lost. Every mention of ? Sexism? Gender inequality? That was justified as "bc this was normal during that time" made me uncomfortable after 116 chaps came back to me all at once.

Summary

If you want to read a silly (and at times nonsensical) story, that is in a Marry Sue alley then go ahead. The adventure parts are interesting enough to keep the reader hooked. The characters are dull or not really likable and it’s this novel the biggest problem. For me this story was a long journey filled with eye rolls, occasional cursing and bouts of helpless anger. Some parts where pissing me so much or were nonsensical to the point of anger. I’ve read a lot of novels but this... more>> was the first one that made me so mad I had to write this angry review.

Characters

Jiang Zhen is not really likable from the start and throughout the whole story He didn’t improve much on his front. The straw that broke the camel back was the last arc of the story and things that Jiang Zhen did. The last bits of any positive feelings I had for that character vanished.

Zhao Jinge is just flat and dull and his bouts of insecurity are eye roll inducing. The most infuriating character for me was Zhao Liu, with Her constant bragging. The only characters that were somewhat interesting and likable were Zheng Yi and He brothers, oh and Madam Liu.

Story & Setting

The novel is taking place in fictional world that is based on our world. Author uses the term ‘ancient’ but to be honest it’s more like medieval, judging from the state the world is in. So the setting is something akin to ‘ancient’ China with the addition of the third s*x – ger; a male looking individual that can bare a child. This one piece of the world building in this story is the most nonsensical. I really can’t find any reason for their existence beside non problematic male-male relationship (like having an open relationship and kids). However even then the romance and love making doesn’t hale much to it. The love making aspect especially. We hale another example of ‘magic hole’ that lubricate itself. And don’t start me on the whole birthing a child thing. For me the concept of gers in this story is really shallow and not founded at all.

As for the story I had the most bizarre experience with this one. I cared for the story and not for the character, well at least not for the main ones. The reason for that is it’s kind of a Marry Sue type of novel. The protagonist can’t do wrong, all his projects are a success, all is going well. Even when there are some mishaps he is never on the loosing side. You know he will be alright so you don’t really care about him. People around him treats him like gold and sunshine is shooting out of his ass. It’s annoying in the long run. <<less

I've got mixed feelings about this novel. I gave it a good try hoping it would grab me but in the end I've dropped it about half-way through.

The characters aren't unlikeable but they aren't that interesting either, and it's the same for the setting and plot. The MC is a gruff gong who has a serious case of golden finger. The love interest is sweet but insecure and a bit dull. The whole time I was going "It's fine I guess", and for me personally fine isn't enough to go... more>> through another hundred chapters. <<less

Might not be the best story, but reading until the end, I can feel so much satisfaction in my heart. I finished this with a huge smile on my face. The novel was more focused on the slice of life aspect and I was actually not expecting it, but it's a pleasant surprise. I also adore the MC and the ML's relationship. A definition of true love.

Be warned, Mc's kinda an a**hole. Of course, it's justified and he only reacts extremely towards people who treat him bad first. Sometimes it feels deserved but other times is feels disproportionate. What annoyed me though was how he treated his nephew. He wouldn't share any food with him and made the family give him the eggs and stuff the nephew would usually have. Yeah the family is sh*t he should stand up for himself but the nephew is TWO YEARS OLD. Why is he suffering for it when he didn't do anything.

its been a few times now that the 2 year old toddler cried cause he wanted a bit of mc's food. MC's mom is terrible for starving him but why is he continuing the cycle on someone innocent. This pissed me off so much

edit: wrote the above rant at c17, it isnt mentioned again later (but technically still hapeens off screen I guess)

MC is a businessman and does lots of that type of stuff for most of the novel

Was good for a while then they ruined a cool smart character by making them an irrational love rival

then they end it by having MC colonize a bunch of people and his kids went to colonize america and australia in the future

Charity 3 stars.

This was way too draggy and boring. I had to drop at around 170 or so because it was just so sleep-inducing.

It was interesting at first but I think the author got too carried away with whatever fantasy they were having and simply forgot about plot and character development. For sure, there are crumbs of those two here and there but they are too scattered across chunky chapters that don't really do anything aside from dragging the quality down.

Up till about chapter 100, the story is great. It's got cute in-laws, sticky MC and ML, face slapping and some funny moments caused by the mother in law and the guys that work for the MC. It's just the character Shen Anxin that is..... well. ... more>>

when you first meet Shen Anxin, he seems like a her that would be a great friend for our ML, he has a similar person story where they had to take on work and throw away their ger identities to support the family. He seems like someone that could be a great business partner in the future. Then he develops a crush on the MC. Fine. It's not surprising and they seem to cut it off, however. It's like his feelings for the MC melted his brain. After the trouble he went through the first time, did he learn that he should have servants or guards when he goes out? No. Did he develop his business sense? No. Instead he gets wrapped up in tgis idea that he can replace the ML. Then, he gets S.A. Now, aside from the pain, sadness and anger, you would also think about who would set something up like this. Would it be a. The business rival that has been harassing you for years and previously tried to set you up or b. The ML is some kind of plot to get you to stop having feelings for the MC, despite having no reason to do anything. Well, now he has gone all twisty and plotting to take down the main couple

Hopefully this part will be done quickly and can get back to the business stuff and the cute family interactions.

So the first 100 chapters have a similar feel, then there is a sudden sharp turn which will hopefully get straighten out quickly.

Edit: it still hasn't. It seems like the first 1/2 of this story is slice of life and the 2nd half is more action with fights and schemes and general revolution/military type stuff along with more serious business growth and competition. It is really like they took the first half on 1 novel and the second half of another and put them together. The story still fits with the characters and set up but it is a giant shift in tone.

There is also a 3 year time skip. It is still good and there are some cute family moments but it is now more serious and less slice of life.

By chapter 160, there is another 3 year time skip and honestly, the story is now draggy and a bit repetitive. It needs some more cute and comedic moments to break up the monotony.

The extras at the end have the charm of the first 1/2.
